I received a text message from this phone number((999) 999-9999) at 11:15 am today
ITS THE DEVIL!!! YOU WILL ALL DIE!!!!!
Got called twice in one day from 999 999 9999 recorded msg in spanish
Caller ID: Invalid Number, DUH. It was a recorded message from Waste Management saying trash pickup would be a day late next week because of the holiday.
Caller ID Name Not Found, no message. Other reports make this sound like some real low life scum.
Caller ID Name Not Found. It was a recorded message from Waste Management about possible delayed pickup due to heavy flooding. Why don't they use their correct name and number?
Gee... who would have guessed this is a spoofed number? Caller ID said Name Not Found, no message.
Person said that they had information regarding problems with my home computer.
This number called me and now they are "Blocked"!!

Mar 08th, 2014I was receiving multiple calls "Unknown Name Unknown Number"--some after 9 p.m. So, I used *77 to stop callers with blocked numbers from getting through to my land line. Anonymous Call Rejection will tell the unknown caller that my phone does not accept calls from private numbers and to hang up, reverse their number privacy, and try again. After a few days of no phone calls, I received one from an Unknown Name using 999-999-9999. I am assuming the caller who had been blocking their number decided to mask their number with a fake number instead, so that they could get through the ACR.

RE; Harassment -
212-999-9999
Our situation is one of “Harassment” - The company that on our caller ID reads as;
212-999-9999, phones at all hours of the day claiming “this is their final notice & they want to reduce my, ( “Debt ceiling, “non-existent credit card payments” and more as mentioned below”) ! They block me from calling them back to tell them to cease from calling, yet they do not answer or the line continuously is busy. This happens throughout the day from 8am in the morning until 9pm in the evening ( It is getting earlier and later a days go by ). Naturally this is becoming a BIG problem.
Myself and Family have some personal problems due to illness in the right now, thus we await calls from a Hospital for some unfortunate news. Therefore at this time these people are causing everyone in my home to become extremely stressed each time the phone rings, especially, as mentioned, some of these calls can be up to as late as 10:00 P.M. ( As well as earlier all the time). We do not owe any financial debt, Credit Card payments, Insurance or anything else this Company claims.
Your help in this matter will be appreciated, we ask that you keep us informed and that if there is any further action that you need of us to help stop these hooligans from operating such an illegal operation please contact us and we will be more than happy to offer our help.
Thank you for your time and help in this matter;

Received a call from this number on 9/21/2013 at 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm. No message was left and the display read "Name Not Found".
999-999-9999 is the standard Caller ID used for corporate in house extensions with 800, 877, 888, 866 and most base toll free numbers. Just never answer these calls as they are 100% worthless.

Sep 20th, 2013Every time I've answered the phone when this number calls it is silent and then it just hangs up on me. This time I answered with simply "Do not call this number again." I said it three times. I could hear background noise (like from a call center), and then the caller said "Shut. Up." and I hung up.
Called my phone at 10.16 am CST. I did not answer. They left no message. Annoying!
Mine was from Saint Jude Medical regarding a pain implant I had removed a couple of years ago. Apparently there's a recall on the battery power supply, yada yada yada.
More information to add to my two previous post ...
Like clock work at 4:32 pm on 5-22-13 cell phone rings and it is "0222" calling.
8:40 pm on 5-22-13 cell phone rings and it is "2080" calling.
I am going to go to the SS website and try to update my telephone number to a bunch of
999-999-9999 to see if that will confuse their data base in the future or maybe give them the number of "dial a prayer".
999-999-9999 is used by large companies to "mask" their internal extension lines that cannot receive a call back. There are hundreds of companies using this method when programming their caller ID blocking. Spammers and scammers are probably not phising this number.
Masked Avenger
Apr 24th, 2013I get between 3 to 5 text messages from an 999 number . It's very annoying because it comes incomplete or mix with numbers and letter and symbols
received two calls back to back; 1st from "Unknown" so I hit the power button on top of my iPhone twice to refuse the call... not even 10 seconds later the 2nd call comes in from "(999) 999-9999" so I do the same thing from that number - power button double-click and away it goes. I also have TrapCall so I have Blacklisted that number. I am also set up on the National DoNotCall registry - but there is no real data to report on the claim to file through DNC Reg... so I decided to post here.
Was an automated call from planned parenthood as a reminder for my daughters depo shot appointment.
I have racked up over 200 of these calls since August 2012. I have contacted both my cell phone carrier and my wireless carrier. as I was receiving at least 2-3 calls per day every day including weekends. They couldn't help me but suggested I try downloading third party apps on my phone, but could not say which ones. After installing one particular app (I installed 2) this particular number UNKNOWN (was unmasked as 999-999-9999 by TRAPcall App) stopped on 01/07/2013 only after I installed the seconded app called CallScreen. I added the name as Unknown and the number 999-999-9999 to the unwanted feature. No more calls from this number! Thank goodness.
This seemed to stop my problem, I don't know if it will work for you.
Summary:
My phone: Iphone 4g, Carrier AT&T,
Installed TrapCall first, which will unmask calls that come in on your caller-id as blocked, unknown or unavailable, etc. and will blacklist them, however it did not block this Unknown 999-999-9999 because 999-99-9999 is not a real telephone number.
I then installed the CallScreen App, and then two days later I stopped receiving calls from Unknown (999-999-9999). 200 calls later and no more calls!
Good Luck everyone.
Stopped Them
Jan 15th, 2013Apparently this number can be rented by different companies. It was an automated message telling us that trash pick up would be delayed by one day to observe the Christmas holiday.
Repeated calls to home and cell phone. Answered cell time. Some idiot asking if was the owner of the home computer and some nonsense about Windows and online. Hung up.
"Adam" told me he's working for Microsoft and needed me to turn on my computer. I asked several times for verification of his connection with Microsoft, and he continued to change the subject. He gave me instructions to "fix" my computer and I pretended to follow along. I told him the computer froze up, he acted like he couldn't understand me. Finally I said once again "I need verification of your employment". He said "Ok ma'am ok" and hung up on me.
keeps calling but no ones there

Nov 06th, 2012I received a phone call on my home phone from the number in question. I knew it must be bogus, so did not answer it. This is scary. My phone sever is HawaiianTelCom.

Nov 05th, 2012Its not always a scam.....I usually do not answer 999-999-9999 but today a call came in UNKNOWN then trapcall unblocked it to show the 9# so I answered and it happened to be a dear loving friend from a federal prison on the east coast. It's just the way the number came up probably bwcause of the storm and trying to restore phone lines who cares Im happy I answered it!
gat a call on my cell all 9,s then on my trap call report, it said Nova Scotia Jus. This is a spoof, to get information, did not answer, put on Black list.to stop these weirdos.
This is obviously NOT Nova Scotia Justice calling, but an I.D. theft bozo ring. Reports around the U.S. show that the person or persons behind it have an I.Q. 8 to 10 points below the average; hence, they really believe people will fall for it.
Buy a cordless/corded telephone system, Panasonic, Uniden, vTech, and others, equipped with CALL BLOCK feature (D.E.C.T. 6.0). They range in price from $100 to $180 depending on the number of sets and other features (I love the Talking CID [Caller ID]) on my Panasonic KX-TG265CSK. It also has a Link-to-Cell feature (make/receive cell calls on your home phone via Bluetooth) and you can use a Bluetooth headset as well. If your home is really large you can buy a Range Extender, as well.
What the phone does is when a call comes in that is on your CALL BLOCK list it will ring once the feedback a BUSY signal to the annoying caller. Any number can be Call Blocked including
000-000-0000 to
999-999-9999.
000-000-0000 call, something about Survey/Voting?
call on October 10, 2012 around 12:30 P.M. was Unknown Name with number 999-999-9999, left no message

18 Sept 2012 -- 4:30 pm -- Caller ID said "unknown name". No message was left.
Im pretty sure my wife is cheating...the number being called is
501-514-2296 Please help me trace and Identify so that i may close on this chapter please.
From what I can tell, this # comes up from ANYONE calling through a non traditional phone line... Such as A cable company phone line, or VoiP lines, Skype etc....I have an unblocking service on my line & someone keep calling me private/blocked....when I look to find the actual # this is what shows. I think its an ex calling from a home with one of those cable bundle packages. Basically it could be anyone!
I called the makers of Diamond Brand pet foods (Chicken Soup for the Soul) regarding one of their recalls, we had a very poor connection, so they offered to dial me back. The incoming call from the call center in Ohio displayed this unusual incoming number with Blocked Name as the caller ID displayed. There are some quite legitimate businesses perhaps unknowingly using this number for whatever technical reasons.
found this number few times in my caller I called and the number is not valid and the only time I answered the phone they said they were a verification company to see if my phone was a working number..weird and bogus...
Called on my cell phone, even though I'm on the Do Not Call list. No voice mail left.

Jan 27th, 2012It has been calling me for two weeks now. I also answered a couple of times and they just hang up and they never leave a message. I put it on Trace a Call. It rang once this morning then I put it on the blacklist. I haven't heard the phone ring since, so I am hoping this works. I would get 6 to 7 calls a day from 999-999-9999. There must be something else we can do to stop them. I am also on the do not call register, so why do business like this get by with it?

Jan 13th, 2012Got the phone call from 999-999-9999 , So i answered and it was some data collection company that was looking for someone else, The lady told me that the 999 number is used by a lot of company's that don't have in-coming phone lines or who don't want you to know who they are.
My home phone rang and it said "out of area." 2 seconds later, the number 299 999 9999 called repeatedly on my cell phone. Coincidence? There are no coincidences. It is a fake number displaying hoping you'll answer. I don't answer EVER out of area or private caller or FAKE numbers. BITE ME zombie debt collectors, telemarketing scams etc. Everyone out there had better write their congressman quick because it is going to get much worse when the do not call list (however good that is) exempts cells phones. Then these a** holes can call you and you can't stop them. Jerks!!
Two days in a row now, I've been getting text messages (no calls) from this number (2 messages each, twice a day). The message is actually empty but it is very annoying since it eats up my credits. I've blocked the number but we shall see if it helps any.
Grr, so fucking frustrated! I love you all! I love everyone! I am the sun! the bright light shining on the world!
Numbers with all the same digits are spoofed. A lot of call centers do this whether it's all 9s or all any other number. This time it happened to be someone claiming they were representing National Geographic. I've also received calls with all 9s doing political surveys, both local and national.
recieved multiple text messages in a different language, with alot of symbols and squares. theres no caller ID and they dont call the phone. just blocked then number on virgin mobile.
this 999-999-9999 number is bogus...even when i dont answer it verizon is still charging me minutes on my cell...quality control is dead i guess...along with customer service...
Waste Management, update about holiday pick up schedule.
Received call on 4/3/11 8:45 PM, caller ID was "Unavailable". Did not try to call it back.
4/7/2011 i recived a call from 999-999-9999 called it back and its busy?????

Apr 07th, 2011No message left from the several past calls.
I got a call from that number today, they even left a message! My coffee company sent my coffee to an old address and I called FEDEX to have the address changed, however, they have a special shipping class that involves the US Postal Service and that's who called to let me know that they couldn't change the address on the package... the number was 999-999-9999
Shows up on my daughters cell phone. Incoming call but if you call it, it is disconected
I received a call to my Majic Jack telephone number
678-395-8429 January 27, 2011 around 11:30- 11:50 AM. There was no name on the caller ID, just the number. I immediately hung up the phone and later erased the number from the telphone. Do you know who originated that call?
Lewis C. Bishop
Jan 27th, 2011I received an unsollicted call from 999-999-9999 on Jan. 27, 2011 around 11:30 to 11:50 AM. I hung up immediately and later removed the call from the telephone. Who was the originator of this call? I thought that I should register this with some government agency. My telephone number involved was
678-395-8429. It is a number from Majic Jack and they have no blocking of any number at this time. So I have registered this with the do not call site for three of our telephone numbers including the one listed above.

Jan 27th, 2011I keep getting these weired numbers: 234-567-898,
111-111-1111,
999-999-9999 on my cell phone and when I call them back they don't answer. I checked my phone records on verizon and they're not registered on the bill, how can this possibly be if there as a call made?
Please advise,
Amadeus33
It was Xcel Energy wanting to take a survey about my recent call to customer service.
This is obviously a bogus number, fake numbers can be substituted for the real phone numbers.
I'va also recceived
111-111-1111 and
000-000-0000 as well as 999-999-9999. If I don't recognize the number,
I don't answer the phone. the other "pest" is 2010MIDAIC.
I'll be really happy, when this political silly season is OVER!!!!!!!!!!!1
i didn't answer it an i didn't call it back.the funny think is it only rang 2 times an hung up 1/2 way threw the 2nd time an if it is waste management we never used them for a trash pick up at anytime in our 25 yrs of marrage. so looks like 999-999-9999 is a spoof number
My husbands phone bill shows call from the phone number 999 999 9999 with description number
000-226-3834 several times per day and for only 1 minute. Interestingly his text messages shows incoming domestic text message corresponding to the exact date and time as tge phone number 999-999-9999 and always with the source from
000-003-3322. I don't trust him either for several reasons, one being that he is very protective of his cell phone and won't let me see it. I plan to divorce because of his secretiveness and dishonesty. Good luck
I didn't answer, just let it ring. They left no message.
I answered this call and they asked for "William" and acted like it was a personal call. William is my first name, but I go by my middle name; only bill collectors and telemarketers call and ask for William. I see on here that several calls with that number were from Waste Management and they claim I owe them money, so I'm guessing that's who it was.
Calls to me are from my daughter in Australia. My cell phone says unavailable, but the bill says 9999999999. The ones that are peak calls appear to be included in my Verizon friends and family even though I have not included that number as one of the 10 allowed. I say appear to be because I have not received the bill yet. Am going by the online usage record.
Getting calls daily from this number. I would never answer a 999-999-9999 or a
000-000-0000. No legitamate person or business would ever use a spoofed number like that.
Immediately after this call, a voice mail message was left by Waste Management notifying me that trash pickup would be on its regular schedule after the July 4 holiday. I'm assuming from the previous "who called" notations that this number was used by Waste Management.
Automated message from Waste Management company. As in, your trash company. Pick-up would be delayed due to Holiday
I am getting very strange calls from a supposed pharmaceutical business. The number on the phone I answered showed the above number, but another phone showed
999-555-9999. They want to confirm the phone number (duh, they called it) and address for my son who ordered drugs from them. Considering he's in the military and I told them in Afghanistan, he didn't--I've talked to him since this is not the first call. They wanted his phone number; I told him he was in Afghanistan again and they wanted his number there! I said figure out how to call him in the mountains, good luck. Actually he's in the military but not in Afghanistan. Then the guy wanted to know if I was his wife. I wouldn't answer--none of their business. I hung up.
I suspect this is the collection agency used by The Gap. They are notorious for calling multiple times in succession. I'm using TrapCall to blacklist them, so I don't ever have to hear from them again.
gotten several calls that show up as
999-999-9999 then leave a message saying this is mary calling from ron kennedy office at 877 591 0433. they want to verify info on a file he is working on. don't say who or what they want. I won't answer the phone when they call - going to file a complaint with the ftc
The guy who called said he's from BofA and wanted to verify my last 4# of SSN. I said no way and hung up.
BTW, May 21, 2011 is the return of Jesus Christ to rapture His true believers. Just google May 21, 2011 to learn more.
if the number is fake the phone shouldn't ring......to weird
This 999-999-9999 keeps showing up on my wife's cell phone log and the calls never come when she is with me. Trying to find out what this number is. I'm thinking it's a masked number.
The Scribe
Mar 08th, 2010I have been receiving calls on my cell from what first says "unknown caller", then when I check my voicemail it says "999". The other day my boyfriend left a message and the next day the same message he left me was on his voicemail and it came up as "999" also. About a year ago we received emails from someone that knew alot of personal info. I am truly scared now that someone is trying to destroy our lives. PLEASE HELP SOMEONE, ANYONE!
I was just talking with Anthem Blue Cross, and after finishing and hanging up, I got an incoming call a moment later.
It was from (805) 999-9999 which I thought looked a bit too much like a number that would not be possible for anyone to actually have as their phone number. So I didn't answer. Given the comments from other users ( at http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-805-999-9999 ) , I'm sure it was in fact Anthem Blue Cross calling back, for whatever reason, however, they did not leave a message. So it is possible it was a coincidence and it was an unrelated company.
Anyway, while it was still ringing I started searching for info on 805-999-9999
(which among other answer sites also led me to a web site
[ twomusesinrealestate.com , which *seemed* to be a legitimate web site for a couple of realtors ... ]
with
999-999-9999 as the number to call if you wanted to do business with them ... which led me to search for details on the 999 area code also.)
So after also searching for details on 999 area code
(999 is the area code a company uses to conceal their geographic location
[ even if the rest of the number is a valid number, and the business is legit ... sort of in the same way that 800, 866, 877, 888, etc, could be anywhere in the USA ... A valid scenario would be a company that has a toll number as well as or instead of toll-free, but they have thousands of locations across the USA, the 999-(legit number here) number they have would be for the central office which has the goal of routing callers to the appropriate local office...]
as 999 is non-location specific... it is simply anywhere in the USA,)
it seems clear that no matter what area code (999 or otherwise) a 999-9999 is a spoofed caller ID number.
However, the reason for the spoof may be completely legitimate.
Apparently, it seems common that a VoIP (Voice over Iinternet Protocol) phone system may have 999-9999 as the default phone number set within the system when it gets installed, and the company's phone system administrator or IT tech guy is expected to adjust the caller ID number to whatever number is desired (which we would expect is the actual calling number in the case of a legitimate company.)
But, in legitimate cases, it may be that the company does not have an IT tech guy with an appropriate skillset to adjust the default caller ID number, (or even know it should be changed) and thus it never gets changed.
In other cases, there may be a fully appropriate skillset for adjusting the number, and they may want to keep the number hidden (or change the number from their real number to the 999-9999 in the case that their VoIP system did not have it set as the default) for their nefarious purposes.
The bottom line is that 999-9999 (regardless of the area code) could be anyone, and could be legit or otherwise.
If you are expecting a call and you know in advance it will be normal to see the 999-9999 on the caller ID, answer as usual.
If you are not expecting the call, play it safe and don't answer. If it's legit, they should leave a message... otherwise, it must not be important even if legit.
I have asked a freind to look into it. he is a computer hacker... it will slow them down alittle. Just hope its really sun loan.
1-999-999-9999 has called me probably 20 minutes ago and answered some girl said they were from myspace and called me baby, started asking whats my favorite color so i hung up, it has called me last night but i cussed them off and hung up
help me please
Jan 17th, 2010no message. called Sun. 10:49am???? I don't have a loan with these people.
I do not deal with Blockbuster, Verizon, Waste Management, Midwest Whatever or any other entity who would be calling me for collection purposes, or to bum money. Can't the FCC do something about this??
privacy please
Dec 31st, 2009Call 2:
We answered the phone with nothing but a Faxing sound. We hang up.
Call 2:
Not even a minute later. Answered again, said hello, nobody there, we hang up.
Call 3:
About 1 minute later, we let it ring about 20 times, without answering. It finally stops ringing.
Call 4:
We unplug the phone line.
All that time it displayed "Caller Unknown: 9999999999"

Dec 08th, 2009Just Waste Management automated system letting us know trash collection will be a day later due to Thanksgiving. This time. I'd prefer they use one of their 800 numbers, probably just sloppy programming on the part of their notification staff or contract service.

Nov 25th, 2009I have recieved quite a few calls from this id (999-9999) .. aka "the Death Number" in the last few weeks. They coincide with harrassing calls from ex-wife and her friends. There are a few programs out there to disguise and/or block ones cell phone number when calling.
Most of these are just creative idiots/telemarketers. p.s. is from an asian horror film.
1-999-999-9999 this number chooses 2:30 am to call and no one answers. This has happened to all of my family and it is always 2 or so in the morning. STOP calling!!!
Got this call for (999)999-9999 and verizon wireless telling me they can't give me any info on it...WTF?

Nov 12th, 2009I keep getting calls from Unavailable - looks like this is one of the numbers used according to Verizon account usage. Today 11/10/2009 I decided to finally answer and just tell the person to stop calling. I answered, said "Please stop calling me" and the guy answered "Oh, this is the first time I called you, bud. What, don't you love us?" This was incredibly weird/creepy. Other telemarketers that have called, I've said the same thing and they were polite about it and didn't say anything weird. It almost felt personal. It makes me worry about the reality. I have a fiance and we live together, and I'm scared to leave her alone for any extended amount of time these days. These people need to get a life.
No blockbuster is 000-000-000 I have 999-999-9999 caller id as a waste of telephony service and I might add
000-000-0000 is also a phony fishing attempt to gain personal information relating stock shares and updating owner files.Pending status four weeks at about three calls a day here lately (fraud) if you don't have proper so called client information don't use
000-000-0000 who you to call and ask..
