This number was left on my answer machine to call back.
The original call came from 856-661-7873 a local phone number around Merchantville/Pennsauken NJ.

Recording said ........"but your status will change in the next 24 hrs. to decline unless we hear from you immediately. Please call 888-258-7775 with auth code _____ & speak with your agent today. Again that number is 888-258-7775. Thank you & have a great day."

Another web site I used said the regular phone number was a personal number .

I received a recorded message stating that I had been pre-approved, but would lose my approval if I did not return call within 24 hours to 888-258-7775. I did not apply for any credit recently, so this cannot be legitimate. I did not return the call and do not plan to do so.

First 718-335-5356 calls with a pre-recorded message saying "you are pre-approved for a Free Medical Alert System, please call 888-258-7775 to get your free system." THIS IS A SCAM TRYING TO GET PERSONAL INFO FROM ELDERLY PEOPLE TO STEAL THEIR IDENTITIES. AARP has been known to sell your name, address and phone number to all kinds of unscrupulous sales lists.

They call claiming with a pre-recorded message "You are pre-approved for a Medical Alert System, please call 888-258-7775 to claim your free system." I call the 888 number and I press 1 for "Customer Service" and I ask them "What's my name?". They said "how do I know, you called me?" Then I said "No, you called me 3-minutes ago from a 718 number saying I'm pre-approved, how can I be pre-approved if you don't know my name from the phone number you are now looking at on your caller ID?" No answer, so I hung up.

I also called the 718 number and it says "you have reached a number that is not in service or is disconnected." This is one of those scams to get info from elderly people who don't know any better to steal there identities. These crooks use phony phone numbers on your caller ID to make you feel more comfortable thinking the call is local, meanwhile it could be from known countries that do these SCAMS like the Philippines or Africa.
