In 1999, Alliance One Receivables Management Inc. was created by mergers and acquisitions of five different companies. Under Teleperformance, Alliance One has facilities from South America to India, from the U.S. to the Philippines and even the Caribbean. Teleperformance boasts over 275 call centers and is positioned in 45 countries. Alliance One has also is in a wide variety of sectors, such as health care, retail, telecommunications, utilities, financial services, and even the government. Their client roster includes over 500 government entities and courts

Most collection agencies operate on a contingency basis, which means that they do not get paid by their client unless and until they collect from the consumer. If and when the agency receives monies from a consumer, the agency then gives their client a pre-determined percentage of the monies recovered. The remainder belongs to the agency.

Oftentimes, debt collection agencies buy these debts for just pennies on the dollar. The debt collector is free to seek as much money from the consumer as they can regardless of what they paid to buy the debt. This amounts to large profit margins for them.

Typically, employees of debt collection agencies are motivated with performance-based bonuses determined by the amount of money they are able to collect from a consumer.

Regardless of what specific methods a debt collection agency uses in their attempts to collect a debt, it is clear that the agency is in the business of making money first and foremost. And that money comes from you – the consumer. Hopefully, you now have a better understanding as to why collection agencies use such aggressive behavior in their interaction with consumers.

Consumers around the globe have long complained about the unfair and often unethical tactics used by debt collection agencies and thus, the FDCPA - a federal law meant for the protection of consumers. It encompasses a set of rules governing the activities of collection agencies.

I take it your Credit One account had not been charged off, Hater, so it made sense to work around Alliance. Post charge-off, the consumer usually doesn't have that option, as the original creditor will stonewall or have sold the account.

If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.

This is Alliance One Collection Agency calling on behalf of Credit One. I had tried to take care of this matter with Credit One but they would not do the right thing which was remove a late fee that should not of ever been charged to my account. Don't deal with these jokers (Alliance One) deal with the original company. Took me 4 months to get my account straightened out with Credit One but I finally did when they realized I was not going to give into their sneeky ways. Today Credit One agreed to remove the late fee's and I brought my account current. Alliance One can bite me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally got a letter from AllianceOne Inc. They are a receiveables management company (collection agency I would suspect). They are representing a company named Arrow Financial Services, whom I never recollect hearing of before in my life. AllianceOne's mailing address is actually two: the first address is listed as P.O. Box 510987; Livonia, MI 48151-6987, while the other address in the correspondence is P.O. Box 3100; Southeastern, PA 19398-3100. Supposedly I owe $6,947.46 to Arrow Financial Services. They call every now and then just on my home phone, and never leave any messages as to who they are or what they want.

They like to call and call and call. I am letting all of you out there this company gets a hold of numbers and they call and call. They have been asked to not call anymore, that they have the wrong number and they still insist on calling. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution to stop them and soon.

Alliance One is a third party credit collector for Credit One Bank. Did not leave a message with me, so I called to see who it was. They seem to be cordial, however, they are collecting on bad debts for other credit card companies.

Don't know who it was, but I called the number back to find out and someone answered but I couldn't understand who they said they were. I was at work, so I just hung up. They then proceeded to call me back. I kept ignoring the call, and they called 6 times one right after the other. Finally turned my cell off.

Normally, the voicemail will pick up background noises like a busy office, or static. This would be the first semi-clear message left on my voicemail from this 866 phone number.

"Hello, hello, hello...Please call 866-225-3707...again 866-225-3707. Thank you..."

For many months, Discover Card has been calling me 3+ times per day from the following numbers:

866-515-3451
888-322-2785
866-402-1044
866-402-1043
866-225-3707

In all cases, the Caller ID displays "UNAVAILABLE" and no message is left on my answering machine. I never answer these calls and do not understand what Discover is hoping to accomplish.

The frequency of these annoying calls has escalated dramatically in the last couple of weeks to 6+ calls per day. On August 30, Discover called me ELEVEN times in less than twelve hours; this behavior is not marketing, but outright harassment! It's gotten so bad that I have turned off the ringers on my phones and am strongly considering getting rid of my Discover Card...
