Time Share Scam - Code your phone to reject or ignore so you don't waste minutes.
The caller is Silverleaf Resorts- trying to sell you a timeshare
tells you that you've won a prize and they want you to see their presentation, scam
They have been calling me almost hourly from noon to 9 PM for the last few weeks.
Whoever these idiots are, they need to be shot! The call at least 10x a day and all I hear is dead air whenever I do decide to pick up the phone.
I made the mistake of filling out a contest form for a free Mercedes at a fair. First I received a winning notification letter from them. I researched and learned about the SilverLeaf Resorts and that not only are they trying to sell timeshares to you but you have to meet very "specific requirements" in order to receive even a trinket prize. The company has been fined in the past for illegal telemarketing practices as well. For over a month now, I have been getting an average of 2 - 10 calls every day on my cell phone from this number. I have asked to be put on the DO NOT CALL list but to no avail. I got very upset the other day and made call after call to the number until I spoke to about 11 different reps demanding that I not be called. One rep even told me that she could find no record of my phone number in the system. They called again the next day. In fact they called me while I was writing this! If anyone else is getting harassed like this and is also on a do-not-call list then your best bet is to file a complaint with the Texas Attorney General and the FCC. They can be fined for calling you from that point on and you could have a winning case against them. Needles to say, I will never fill out another contest entry form like that ever again!
Indicated that our name was entered into a drawing to win a Mercedes.
Calls several times a day; never leaves a message.
Just got a call saying Mr. Travis Thomas blah blah blah Awards...etc. Pretty much the same as what I have read here. Unfortunately for me, I had just been doing business with a boat company rep with the same area code and thought it may be him when I answered. I followed along and even called the number, but told them I had misdialed when they picked up. I will ask them nicely once to not call anymore if they call again. Then, I will be keeping my airhorn next to the phone ;-)
they are sooo damn anoying tey call me like 100 times per day
I was also told to write the number right away and then asked to repeat it. She told me to call right now, but to get her off the phone I told her I was leaving and would call later. She said that Travis Thomas will be waiting for me. Now that I've looked it up, I think I may have just set myself up for several weeks of doom.
These people just don't give up. They call me at least 2 - 3 times a day. I guess they don't know what the word "discontinued" means.
this people call my cellular phone 10 times a day.
A woman called and told me she was from an awards verification service and that Mr. Travis Thomas had been trying to contact me by mail because I had won a new car and a shopping spree, by entering my name in a contest of some sort. (never happened)
She asked me if I understood what she was saying. She asked me to repeat it back to her. She then asked me to take down the phone number, 1-817-525-1025 as Mr. Thomas was waiting for my call. She then asked me to read back his name and the phone number. She then told me this was not a scam and that it was urgent to call him back right away as he was waiting for my call.
I guess he is still waiting.
I've got 20 calls saved in my voice mail - no messages. I took the first one, told them this was an office number, asked them to remove my name and number from their list. She ARGUED with me! They have called every week day since. Is there anything that can be done about this? Only the number was in my caller ID
please call Mr. Thomas about a prize I have won. Possibly a Mercedes... made sure i took down the number for Mr. Thomas correctly and told me to call immediately... I mentioned i haven't entered any sweepstakes and she replied maybe family had...No thanks but hopefully they will quit calling. They have been calling everyday for weeks. My son just so happened to answer without checking the id.

i won a vacation vut it was all a scam there was a catch u need a credit card and had to go to a tour of the building
Same here. I could hear a lot of people in the background talking on other lines. All I did was say "hello-hello" then said it was a prank call and hung up. Didn't call anymore.
Offered some kind of prize package, wanted someone to attend a resort. Probably a time-share scam.
