The name Citi Cards came up on called I.D. It was a call about reducing credt card interest rate.
Their automate system called me but once I picked up they asked me to press option 1. It rang and a man answered stating I was selected from Esperian to have interest rate lowered. I asked him what company he was calling from and he just said the consumer who issues the credit cards. I should have known. I only gave him expiration of 1 of my cards but I knew it was scam when he asked if it were a MC or Visa. I Googled the phone number and saw it was a scam. Hung up.
I told them off and warned one more call and better business would be contacted for harassment since I have not owned a citibank card since the 1990's. They promptly hung up on me.

Computer they were from Citi called asking for my credit card or social security number. I don’t even bank with Citi. When I got ahold of a person, she said she needed the number to look up my account. It’s all just a scam.
Have received a call multiple times, and number blocked on my cell each time, with the same message about lowering my credit card interest rate. I hang up as soon as the message starts. In spite of blocking the number, and I have checked, they call from difference 800 numbers. I don't even let them finish the message and definitely do not press for any of the options. Wish these would stop because I'm getting them all hours of the day, evening and on weekends.

Got a call from 800-950-5114. It is an interest rate scam. I pressed 1 and asked the guy if he knew my number was on the national do not call list. I was promptly told to "Go fuck yourself".
I just had a call from 800-950-5114 referencing my credit card. I dialed 1 to talk to a customer service agent and asked to be taken off the call list. The man said he would call me back and call me back and call me back. When I engaged him in further conversation he called me a b---ch and other inappropriate words, and offered other luid comments regarding his supervisor.
Disgusting people on this line. They pretend to put you through to remove your number from their list but the rep in the phone was a sexually disgusting individual! I am horrified! 😥
I received a call from this number today, no message or anything. Apparently its Citi card customer service fraud department. I have never had a card with them in my life. This is apparently a big scam. People please beware and report this. They need to stop harassing innocent people.

Received a call from this number & did not answer as name was not provided. Looked up number & it is legit customer service number from Citibank. Called Citibank & they advised that they had not called me. Apparently fraudsters had spoofed the number.
800-950-5114 is a legitimate number for Citi Bank's Fraud Department. If you have questions about getting a call from this number call the number on the back of your citi card. They can verify this number's authenticity.

Scam. My husband received a call that started off automated. Gave 2 options and before he could press anything a guy started talking. He said that they had been watching his credit score and noticed that it had increased significantly and wanted to know if he was interested in decreasing his interest rates on his credit cards. My husband told them that his wife handles the finances so he doesn’t even know what his current rates are. They asked to speak to me and when I wasn’t available they started pushing him to do it. They said that this would be his only opportunity. Luckily...my husband didnt trust them.
Claims to lower interest rates. Scam. Hung up when I refused to give credit card information.
I asked to be taken off their calling list. Repeatedly. He finally told me to go fuck myself and hung up. American voice.
Spoof calls using Citibank telephone number. Indian caller trying to lower interest rates on credit card, ask for credit card info etc... Gave all fake info and it pissed him off as it used his time up. Another trick is leave them on hold while I get my card for more than 2 minutes.
I have no citibank cards and received a call on my cell phone on 12/12/2017. I called the number back and sure enough it sounded like a legitimate Citi recording asking options. After pressing the option which corresponded to not being a customer I was immediately transferred to a recording that said I had reached a non working number. Evidently, someone pirated this number and is using Citibank as a cover. Don't give any information to this number. A definite scam!

HAVE NO CREDIT CARD WITH CITI BANK. THERE IS NO REASON FOR 800-950-5114 TO EVER CALL LANDLINE OR CELL PHONE. THERE IS NO CITIBANK-CITI CARD ACCOUNT.

As a suggestion get NoMoRoBo which stops 90% of all robocalls. Sign up at www.nomorobo.com . It works on most common phone carriers including iPhone and soon Android too.
Pressed 2 to "miss out on this offer." Got a guy who told me "no," told me he'd take me off if I sang a song, called me a faggot, threatened to call me all night and day, and when I asked for his supervisor disguised his voice. I ended the call by repeating "Put me on the Do Not Call list for about 45 seconds while they laughed at me. Eventually they hung up. It was a transparent scam.

My mother got a call from 1-800-950-5114 at 7:30 am and a robocall message played that went something like this: This call is regarding your credit card account. We have made several attempts. We can lower your interest rate. Press one to lower your interest rate, or press two to let your eligibility for lower interest rates expire.
The message played twice before hanging up, but she did not respond since this was over the Bluetooth system in our car and her phone was in her purse.

When you get any kind of unsolicited calls (robo generated or not) and you get a live person from the caller, when they greet you or ask you a question you just respond "What do you lying cork soakers want to scam me out of today?" If they respond or not just keep repeating your opening phrase over and over and over whatever they say or try to respond with. Do this until THEY hang up. If we all respond like this to all unsolicited and illegal calls they will soon get the message. I do this with all unsolicited illegal calls whether if is from Microsoft about computer errors, the IRS or someone wanting to sell back braces or "Rachel" from credit card services. I am on the DO NOT CALL list so that makes them fair game Try it!

Scammer/Telemarketer/Thief/Crook/Liar/Fraudster/Con (wo)man (card services) still/again touting the ancient lower your credit card interest rate scam. CID showed "TOLL FREE CALL" and "1-800-950-5114". Number is spoofed, it's a legitimate Citi Card Customer Service number.
Fraud- not legit.you call back and the answering service says citi cards what's your credit card number If you do not know then enter your social security number. If you wait for representative they answer with what's your credit card number. Complete fraud!!

Scammer/Telemarketer still touting the age old lower credit card interest rate scam. CID showed "TOLL FREE CALL" and "1-800-950-5114". The number is spoofed. The number 1-800-950-5114 is a legitimate Citi Card (Citibank) customer service number for "Lost or Stolen Credit Cards or General Account Information" according to the Citibank web site.
Telemarketer/Scammer still touting the age old lower credit card interest rate scam. CID showed "TOLL FREE CALL" and "1-800-950-5114". The number is spoofed. The number 1-800-950-5114 is a legitimate Citi Card (Citibank) customer service number for "Lost or Stolen Credit Cards or General Account Information."
Caller claimed to be from Cardmember Services. He INSISTED that I give him my CC information "so that he could verify my account and reduce my interest rate." When I refused, he told me that he "...was my father because he f****d my mother." He went on from there to embellish his claims. A real class act - just the sort of person to represent a business.
I called back using caller ID and got Citi Bank. I was told that they don't make outgoing calls from this number so there was nothing they could do about this situation.
If it was my business being portrayed to the public like this I would find some way to do something about it. Apparently Citi is not that concerned about their image.
BE CAREFUL who you give ANY information to.
I called the number back and the auto response said that it was CITI and that I should call 800-950-5114
; Not sure if this is legit.
I called CiTi's 800-950-5114 on September 8th, 2012 and phone got answered by telling me I won a free two day vacation and can keep my spot for charging $59 to my card. I dialed this number five to six times over two days, at different times, from different numbers and kept getting the same sales pitch. Filed complaint with BBB. OCC and cfpb. It is so ironic and dishonest that Citi's President's office wrote to BBB that I dialed a wrong number and must have dialed 877-950-5114
. I have written back to them, telling them it is very unlikely and does not pass a test of common sense that I would dial a wrong number six times. Secondly, how CiTi's President office can allege that I dialed 877-950-5114
with out obtaining my telephone records which is a violation of privacy act. I am waiting for CiTi's honest answer. September 28, 2012
GUYS THIS IS A SCAM NUMBER!!! I CALLED CITIBANK AND THEY WENT OVER ALL THEIR NUMBERS AND THIS IS NOT A FRAUD NUMBER BELONGING TO THEM. FIRST OF ALL, I GOT A CALL SAYING TO CALL CITIBANK REGARDING A CARD THAT I DON'T HAVE. ALSO, THE NAME ON MY ANSWER MACHINE WAS SOMEONE ELSE. SO I CALLED BACK, AND THE CITI BANK WAS ASKING IF I HAD OTHER CARDS, PERHAPS A SEARS WITH CITIBANK, ETC? THEN, HE ASKED ME FOR MY PHONE NUMBER. I TOLD HIM NOTHING AND HUNG UP. YOU NEED TO VERIFY FIRST BEFORE YOU CALL. CHECK WITH CITIBANK BY GOING TO THEIR WEB SITE.
This is legitimate from Citicard. Don't know caller id since I didn't see it come in & there are several it could have been. They left a message w/this # as a callback along with a code. I called & input the code. Automated message asked if I was me, if I knew where my credit card was, and whether I had made a particular charge. I hadn't so pressed that selection and was transferred to a rep who told me there had been fraudulent activity on my account, which I also verified by going to the online acct page while talking to her. She did ask for my password but never asked for my acct #. Turned out someone had been making multiple hundreds of attempts to use one of my virtual numbers, failed thank goodness. The rep helped me figure out which number it was so I could close it out, and she removed the hold from my card
Left message stating there was a fraud alert on my CitiBank Card and ask me to call 1-800-950-5114
or if I was suspicious of this call to call the number on the back of my credit card. I called the number on my credit card and they confirmed that there was a fraud alert on my card and asked me to verify some recent charges. I verified the charges were recent purchases made by me and everything was OK. The cleared the fraud alert on my card. Based on my experience I would say that calls concerning fraud alerts on a citibank credit card from this number are legitimate.
I called CitiBank at 1.800.950.5114 and asked for WatchGuard. After 18.24 minutes, I was told that I would stop receiving calls from this number.
Just call CitiBank and have them transfer you to the Watch-Guard service...1-800-950-5114
ask to be taken off of their call list.
It's from Citi Fraud Div. I didn't key in my 16 digi# but called back to customer service 1-800-950-5114
. Found out that there IS an alert... So 866-517-5348 is really from CitiBank.
NEVER NEVER NEVER give your CC number in this way!!! Protect yourself. Take a minute, look on the "Citi" website and call that number and ask about charges. Give them the info. Smells fishy, don't trust strangers on the phone OR internet saying it's okay to give your CC# to someone you don't know at an unverified number.
Also inquire about the 877-215-2648
number you were given. If it winds up being a fraud, you can help prevent others from being scammed.
Common Sense Apr 03rd, 2008
We have several accounts with Citigroup - Citibank, Citicards, Citifinancial... I received a call and when I answered, the recording repeated 'please hold for an important call' about 5 times, then I was disconnected. I called the number on my caller ID back, and the greeting was 'Thank you for calling citigroup' Then I was prompted for my account number. I put the number in for our main credit card account, but the system responded that the account number was not recognized. I was transferred to an agent, and asked for a SSN but I hung up at that time, because it was odd that they did not recognize the account number.
I called the 800 number on the back of my credit card and told them I received a suspicious call. They verified that the number (904) 954-1091 does belong to a legit Citi department - the bank card department. They could not find any apparent reason that they would be calling for our credit card accounts (one of them was just only opened yesterday, the other is in good standing). They told me to call 1-800-950-5114
for customer service and they would assist me.
I followed through, and determined that there is no reason I should be receiving a call from Citi. They really need to get their act together - CitiFinancial, CitiCards, CitiBank... one hand is oblivious of the other.
Anyways, the number is legit, and it is Citi[something].
Received message from this number and called back. The first thing the representative asked for was my credit card number, which I refused to give. The somewhat annoyed response I received was "this is a legitimate Citibank call." I gave my name and the last 4 digits of the card number, and she verified a couple of recent routine purchases. The Citibank site gives the number that called me as a customer service number, so perhaps it's legit. But why would she press me to give my entire credit card number to an unidentified stranger over the phone?
This is a Citi number. Since the message is "press 1 for X, press 2 for Y," there is no other message. I did once pick up the phone; it was a recorded message about an upgrade. If you want to be put on Citi's "do not call" list, the primary card holder must make the call.
Ditto to the most common posts above. Call Citibank at 1-800-950-5114
and threaten to transfer your balance somewhere else if you are a cardholder and they'll stop. This is such poor customer service they shouldn't be doing it in the first place.
This has been going on

the # (800-950-5114) is the # on the back of my citi master card. judging by the comments left and the calls from them i've received in times past, if it's something important, a message will be left. if it's a promotion, card upgrade, etc, they don't bother leaving a message

this was a legitimate call re: card upgrade
They called but didn't leave a message. I called the number and it answered "Welcome to Citicards. To expedite the handling of your call, please speak or enter your 16 digit card number now."
They called twice yesterday while I was working and did not leave a message. They have called in the past to report possible fraud but they had left a recorded message that time..
They called me right now, I answered, no one was there, and then it hung up on me.
