I was delinquent on my phone bill.
We don't have att for house or for cell. We still have 2 different companies for both of those yet it is leaving a message on our house phone that we need to call regarding our wireless account. My husband called & they had no clue by name or phone number & wanted to leave him on hold while they "looked into it". He told them to call us back when they figured it out & they never did. SCAM?? or is someone yanking the ATT chain somehow?
People say this is from AT&T - I checked my account and my bill isn't even due for another 10 days. Why do they keep calling!!!
This number calls my cell phone EVERYDAY and just leaves a message that says to call that number back. It does not show up in my "recents". I am tired of seeing this everyday.
Voicemail states it's AT&T and I should call their 800 # or 611 regarding my wireless service.
I call 611 (since I know this number is legitimate) and they have no record of any concerns on my account. Scam?
It's AT&T - they want their money for my wireless phone.

Pay your bills you wont get collection calls.
I have my step-dad's cell phone since he passed 7-19-12. I still make calls to Michigan (I'm in Ohio). I'm still dealing with his estate & trying to get bill-people to stop with bills & notify them of "Notice to Creditors" ad in newspaper. Being an executor of his will doesn't mean I'm liable.

AT&T Wireless Collections
Probably AT&T - since I have not paid the bill yet.
they left a message. it was from AT&T wireless
This call was made at 8 in the morning...wanting me to make arrangements to pay my wireless bill. I DO NOT have a wireless service....and am a senior citizen asleep....recovering from a snake bite. What is wrong with these companies???

"Important" robo voicemail from AT&T wireless
Leaving robot voice mails almost daily. "Important" message about AT&T wireless service, which I do not have.
Robocall left voice mail "This is an important call from AT&T to discuss your wireless service." Important to you maybe, but NOT to me, since I don't have or want your service. Please kindly FOAD, thank you.
Caller robot left a message about an AT&T account. I don't have AT&T. Blocked their asses forever, because I ported my number to Google Voice a couple of years ago. With GVoice blocking, future calls are directed to this message: "The number has been disconnected and there is no new number." Sweet. Thanks Google Voice!
Exactly what John said... "These scumbags keep calling me with robocalls saying I need to call AT&T to discuss my account. Problem is I don't have an account with AT&T. Obviously a phishing scam."
Again... persistent bastards!
And again, in case I didn't get the first voice mail. (Robocall "AT&T calling to discuss your wireless service" but I don't HAVE wireless from AT&T so they have no business calling me.)
Robocall "AT&T calling to discuss your wireless service" but I don't HAVE wireless from AT&T so they have no business calling me.
ATT - Late Payment I am in argument over their practices....

At&t wireless about past due bill....
Unknown Name Feb 06th, 2012
At&t Wireless - you payment is late!
They claim to be ATT Wireless
Is this really AT&T Mobile? Ive gotten several calls as well, since I dont waste my cell time answering calls from numbers that I dont know I have never answered, like some of your complaints I did not pick them got stuck with them for a 2 year contract when Alltel sold out to them and sold me along with the deal.My cell phone bill is paid every month 10 days early since they could'nt get me to answer their calls they sent me a text and told me that if my bill was not paid they would shut off my service, I pay my bill every month in person at one of their stores here, so got them involved and the issue resolved, just to be billed for the past due balance this month. Will finish out the contract with them that I got stuck with and take my business to another cell phone company.
This AT&T Mobility. Wireless bill is late.
I keep getting this call. Who is it? I want it STOPPED !
OMG...A T & T is a new carrier for us and not by choice...they bought out Verizon in our area. 2 calls about the same time 2 days in a row. I am a couple days late...OMG like I said. What a pain!!! Besides that they already screw up my bill and are billing me to much from cross over. They will be getting a call from me first. They left me NO VOICE MAIL either. Its a free call so leave me a #)#(*#* message~~
AT&T calling because I was behind on my bill
Left a message about my AT&T wireless service. I do not have AT&T service
Seems like a phishing phone call. Said they from AT&T and I owed them money, which is not true. Dropped the call while transferring to a representative. Not good.
I have receive several calls from this number 800-947-5096. I would like my number blocked from this caller.

It's AT&T about my wireless service
Left a message, it was from AT&T to discuss my wireless bill
Calling wanting to discuss my wireless number. Gave another 800 # to call. This is not my wireless number they called on.
I had just canceled my AT&T Wireless account, and had forgotten to make my final payment. I ignored the call, looked up who it was on here, and paid my bill on their website.
This number is from AT&T Wireless. And it's usually a computer automated call, telling you to contact AT&T about your cell phone bill. Probably due to past or non payment.
From this URL: http://www.wireless.att.com/answer-center/main.jsp?t=solutionTab&solutionId=KB63364
"Your payment is due on or before the date specified on your bill. If you cant pay your bill on time, contact the AT&T Receivables Management Department at 1-800-947-5096 to make payment arrangements and avoid service suspension. "
I don't know why it shows up as unknown. It's not a good idea, as we can see, because it does make people think it's a scam. I was a week late on my phone bill, and I just paid through the online service instead of calling back. But there it is, listed as a number for AT&T, on their website.
No caller id. Left no message.
Keep getting this call and message saying that they have important message for me about my ATT wireless....I don't have ATT wireless. Never have.
its not illegal because its not a bill collector. Its AT&T's credit and collections department and the calls are a courtesy reminder because the company does not want your phones to get shut off!!!!!
I know the link just says wireless.att.com but if you actually click on it it will send you to the page with this exact 800 number on it
another thing Jun 13th, 2010
how to confirm this number
type the "suspicious" phone number into google.
hit the scroll bar once, to go past all the reverse phone lookup/whocallsme websites
you then will come upon a miraculous discovery. *gasp* The AT&T website.
This link does in fact include...you guessed it! The number for AT&T receivables management.
If you have called back and the rep told you they didn't know about the number, chances are they didn't take the time to look and they do not know the first thing about outbound calls.
If you do not use AT&T consider this amazing prospect: someone used your number as their home/business contact or you are using a ported out/recycled number! Amazing isn't it. Now granted if they ask for your entire ssn (after about 2008) do not give it to them, AT&T will not ask for this information they will ask for the last 4 if you are not the primary account holder. This caller cannot tell you why they called because its against the law. However, calling about a debt is not against the law, even if its the wrong number. Try to bring it up in court, guess what they will say!? They will say why didn't you answer the phone and ask to be removed from the list. If it doesn't work the first time try again. If it still doesn't work THEN you can get pissed off and I think out of all these comments ive seen maybe 2 people who had that problem. If you guys are so upset that AT&T won't give out the nature of the call on a voicemail or give it to you without verification, consider that you probably wouldn't appreciate it if all of your buddies knew you weren't paying your bill on time. If they didn't call the primary account holder its because the dialer is set up to call the lowest number first. Annoying yes, a scam, no. Its completely ridiculous that all of you people are so quick to call scam when you could just as easily have scrolled down a little bit in google and found the official AT&T website that includes THIS NUMBER. If you think you paid your bill and you're still getting these calls there is a good chance its because your payment didn't go through or its an issue with a deposit etc. It would be in your best ineterst to answer the call and take care of it so your phones aren't turned off for nonpayment then you have to come crying to the company that you just talked all this crap about begging to get your phones turned back on. Now I know AT&T may not be the best all around company in the whole world, but seriously, calling innocent people scammers when you're just too lazy to check google is just as wrong as the scam you think they are committing (that is if you are like me and think stupidity should be a crime punishable by imprisonment). Also unless you're are a complete moron you should know better than to give out your entire ssn to someone who calls you. I mean come on people use a little common sense.
As for the gentleman who threatened to kill the rep, very mature, and I do hope you realize that this is illegal and that same representative has every legal right to track YOUR number (even if its not with AT&T) and have the police show up at your door for a death threat. I hope the next time you call up there my friend who works there answers because I know for a fact that that "nice lady" will have the police called. I think everyone can agree that accusing someone of being a scammer who is just doing their job is one thing, but threatening to kill them, is not a joke.
anyway just in case you didn't get the link here it is a few more time
hope that helps.
CHECK GOOGLE Jun 13th, 2010
No ID info but left a msg. AT&T saying my bill was returned to them because of wrong address. However, I haven't changed my address for years.
Calling me at 5:15 am ... No message
I had auto payment for AT&T, I received this call saying that my AT&T payment late. That's why I believe they are not real.
It is absolute a fake call, don't believe it. Why police don't take action to catch those bad guys?
Paid in full 3 weeks ago, called at 8am this morning to wake me up when I could have actually slept in until 8:30 for once! NOT happy with their crappy service, dropped calls, network outages and stupidity. Going to keep this up and break their contract for harassment. REAL nice when they text you at 2 / 2:30am with some service message, too!!!
I get a call from this number almost every day. They never leave a message so it must be a sales call - if they had a real reason to call me, they would leave a message.
This is an autodialer from AT&T Wireless collections, reminding me that my wireless bill can now be paid online, or by texting some number back. Not really a collections call, but a "gee, wouldn't it be great for you to give us some money as SOON as possible?" call of "convenience."
Like anyone who calls you and asks for your credit card number, this is a scam. The creepy angry messages on here saying you should pay to the scam number are part of the scam. Whenever you get calls (or emails for that matter) asking for personal info, acct#, card#, etc. politely decline and call back using a phone number you got independently.
May be linked to Creditors Interchange, a very ?- Debt collection company.
Very heavy Asian accent. Looking for someone called Weywa Wu??? Close to my husbands name but we don't do business with Cingular.

These people are trying to scam folks..EVERYBODY needs to know to NEVER pick your phone up and talk to anyone unless they can identify who they are and you recognize them...It is ILLEGAL for ANY bill collectors to call without having a legitimate caller ID that you recognize..Other wise ignore the call..
When I answered they said, "And they'll always bring...those shiny things" I was like wtf then I threatened to kill them and then they hung up.
Has called a few times now, always in the morning. Never once left a message. Have my cell set up so #s not known to me do not make a sound (created a short MP3 of silence), but odd they've never left a message yet.
NO late bill for AT&T here for the call to refer to something like that.
Scam artists.... They hacked my AT&T account, changed the address where my bills should go, set up a security block on my online account, and then just mailed me a copy of my bill and told me I had to pay them $200 in "charges that I had not been billed for in the past" and that I would now start receiving 2 paper bills from AT&T (i'm guessing hoping I would pay them AND pay AT&T). I was told to contact 800-947-5096 to settle my account. Obviously this is false; when I spoke with ATT representatives a few weeks ago, they had no idea what happened and my account is flagged for fraud now. I caught this problem before receiving this request for money because they had hacked my email as well.
yeah, its AT&T calling to tell you to pay your bill.
These scumbags keep calling me with robocalls saying I need to call AT&T to discuss my account. Problem is I don't have an account with AT&T. Obviously a phishing scam.
These people use a different business everytime they call..They want your personal information..Do not give any info to them..
They are nothing more than people looking to get your personal info thru intimidation.DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO ABOUT YOURSELF!!! USUALLY THEY DO NOT KNOW WHO THEY ARE CALLING..These people are given a block of telephone numbers to call...They prey on the elderly and disabled..
No message left, don;t have voice mail.
ok, i just verified that YES this number is in fact the main ATT billing department.
After i made my transaction with them, i got paranoid after reading all these posts, so i decided to contact ATT directly from the main number on their website, and verify that i made a payment within the last 20 minutes.
They were able to do so, and also verify what was discussed on the call and the amount I just paid over the phone.
So I am 100% CERTAIN that this is not a scam, it trully is in fact ATT, but if you don't want to pay your bill, hey thats OK with me ;)
so just respond to these emails by calling the number on the main ATT website if you are not sure, never an annonymous line.
It's AT&T alright. Bill received on the 24th. Bill due on the 26th. Harassing calls begin on the 25th. Remarkably efficient.
I do not have att wireless. I get this call at least twice a day. How can I get it to stop?
This is Sharon Crandall and I had a At&t Mobility cell phone and I had left to pay on it was #242.00 I think and you stop sending me the bill after I move to Racine, Wis. in Sept 12th 2009. So I was trying to pay my other bills off before I tackle yours. So send me the bill for what I owe when you disconet me in 2007 or 2008 so my address is 524 shelbourne ct. #30 Racine, wis. 53402
at-t mobility Jan 26th, 2010
AT&T Cellular service. On the same day they will send me a text and leave a message on voice mail to remind me I have a payment due.
Junk call on my new iPhone... Oh, it's AT&T? Musta been real important, since they didn't leave a message. We'll be calling them back on this one!!!
Dave Kolars Jan 13th, 2010
I have had them for more than a dozen years and I think I am 3 days late and they called to tell me my account was PAST DUE. It's their job I guess , but it makes you feel like canceling and saying I will live without a cell phone. What happened to the good ole days when you didn't feel compelled to be in touch 24/7 with the world. People can call me at work or at home , but NO they call the cell phone...Think I am going to cancel that saves me $182 a month or almost $2200 a year.
also, this is the official number off of the at&t wireless website.
It isn't a scam, it's AT&T. They call when you are late. For the people that don't have an account I don't know about that. When I spoke to them they asked if I wanted to make my payment using my previous information, I said yes, my bill was payed. Nothing tricky, no phishing, PAY YOUR BILL! Ha ha
Called my cell three days in a row. Left no message.
they are re: somebody elses bill that's due

An extremely rude man called, threatening to terminate my service to extort a $36 reactivation fee if I wouldn't give him my credit card information. Because I've been parasitized by these monsters before, I refused to give information, paid my ATT bill online during our conversation, and immediately called ATT after the unidentified caller barked at me for "totally ignoring what [he] said."
ATT has no record of any calls to me from billing and recommended that I report this call to law enforcement. Please do not give these monsters your billing information or SSN!
I don't have an AT%T account (if that's who this number really belongs to), I sure can't figure out why they would be calling me.
They should not be asking for your social security number. If you have an account with them, you already gave it to them. They already have enough information to know about your account.
It sounds like phishing to me.
This is the cingular/att number that will call you if your bill is late :P
This is att calling about my cell phone bill. I am sure because I don't have my number listed for any other creditors and I am late with my bill, obviously they have my cell number because they provide the service. These guys service is horrible, when I try to make a call I can't but when they need to leave a message because I am late with my payment, the phone rings like no tomorrow! I told them that's the reason my payment is late all the time, I can't even use the phone for the outragous prices that they are charging me. 6 disconnections during one 2 hour phone call, GIVE ME A BREAK.
They call me every month... I pay my bill online every month through the AT&T website - on time, every time! (usually a day or two early.)
BUT NO... they call me EVERY MONTH anyway... with a "Courtesy Reminder that my account is overdue." Oh sure... They would HATE me to experience a termination in service due to the fact that they can't seem to post my payments in a timely manner.
I explained to the girl on the phone that I pay EVERY month online on THEIR system. I can't help that they don't post their payments quickly. Well, she gets an attitude... She says that she'll "make a note that I claim the payment has been made..."
What a way to treat your LOYAL AND PAYING customers AT&T...
This is the time of the month you actually make me miss Verizon.
irked customer Oct 30th, 2009
If this is, in fact, A T & T and I did owe them money (which I dont), what makes them think that people are more likely to answer an "unknown name" call as opposed to identifying themselves? Talk to the machine!
AT&T calling to tell me that my payment is late by 7 days.
customer said that they asked her for her password and said that they were att but she did not give the password because she did not know if they were really att.

scam! since when do they use southern voice robots?
Pretty sure this is a scam, folks! Be careful.
Just rcv'd call from these folks. It's a robocall. Take my advice, DO NOT ANSWER, IT IS A SCAM. This is a phishing operation. They will take you for all you have on your credit cards. It just happens to be a coincidence that so many people are late with their AT&T wireless bills. Think about all of the millions of AT&T customers there are in the US. If a certain % of them are late with their bill then they assume it is a legit call. It's a similar scam as the Expired Auto Insurance phishing scam. Again, DO NOT ANSWER, IT IS A SCAM!!!
Scam Alert Aug 03rd, 2009
It's the New AT&T? Thought AT&T has been around for a while. Hum… Anyway, they are calling wanting payment yesterday! Guess they are experiencing a cash flow problem! Get your bill in the mail today pay it now, not when it’s due!
Anyone experiencing a slow connection on your data? Perhaps we should all call and ask what’s up with that! I paid for it and should be receiving exactly that service. I don’t think AT&T is putting money back into the age old network? Looks like the hirer-ups are pocketing the money vs updating what they have going. Pretty soon it’s going to be worthless with all the smart phones sucking down the infrastructure. Cell service is pretty shitty as is.
i got a call from 1800-947-5096 some voice machine asking me to call another 1-800 number saying it was from at&t and they needed to discus my wireless plan. on my plan. sounds like a scam
