I HAVE CALLED AT&T MANY TIMES ABOUT MY OVER CHARGED BILL AND EVERYONE SAID THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF IT BUT NO ONE HAS. I ASKED FOR CORPORATE # AND WAS GIVEN 800-531-5000. IT WAS A SURVEY AND IF YOU DIDN'T ANSWER THEY DISCONNECTED.
SCAM. Got a call from this number offering a promotion that would lower my current bill, and add additional channels as well as 5 premium movie channels. The promotion would also include internet (unlimited data) for 89.99 including service fees and taxes. What a great deal I thought (too good to be true). To get this promotion all you have to do is pre pay 4 months with an Amazon gift card (this is where the scam comes in). Once you purchase the Amazon gift card from your local retailer, you call back to 888-302-5632
and give them the promotion code that was given in the initial phone call as well as all of the info on the Amazon gift card that was purchased.
I received a call from this number last night. Male individual with an accent told me that Directv was changing signal locations and my receiver would no longer work. I told him I would contact AT&T directly if I had any issues. He started yelling and hung up.

I received a call from this number, same scenario as all the others. Heavy Indian accent, male caller. I asked that they please take me off of any promotional calling lists as I deal with my accounting online and am not interested. He said "F*** you" and hung up
Have gotten several calls from this or other numbers with similar spiel. Speculation that they are getting inside info. If you call Directv for customer service, the call gets routed to a call center someplace in India (you get middle eastern accent person as your first contact). Almost willing to bet that the info on the account is coming out of the legit call center. I went through one of their spiels a couple of weeks ago, almost fell for it. They wanted $99.99 as an activation fee. Said they had a Visa on file they could charge to but wanted me to confirm the number. I said okay, what is the number you have, His reply, first two numbers are 42 (all Visas start with 42). I asked him to confirm the last 4 - no - I needed to give him the whole card number. Red flag - goodbye.
I got the same hard sell and I told the heavy accented man that I don't do business this way. I said mail me the offer and he hung up.
I called about Direct TV a month or so ago. I have never had Direct TV etc. I was deciding if I wanted Dish or Direct TV but never got either. They have my information though. Now, this is an inside job or they have a serious data breach. The people calling are from over seas with a thick accent and have my info. A company of this size letting hackers get their clients information and non clients is insane. How is this happening and why are they not doing anything about it. I'll never be a customer of Direct TV ever. Total BS.
South Dakota Sep 17th, 2018
Same story as everyone else. Male caller, heavy Indian accent. Said they wanted to lower my DirecTv bill to 62.95 a month and all I had to do was pay 4 months up front. Our DTV isn't in my name and my number is not on the account either so I knew it was a scam immediately. I told him they could bill me and he said no, I need a credit card number to provide the payment now so I can access your new promotional pricing. I hung up.
I didn't get the opportunity to even talk to them, they hung up as soon as I answered. My caller ID said Direct TV.
I want to do y'all guy have home alarm system because I need that as soon as possible.

Got a call from this number, heavy Indian accent. I was suspicious when I saw the caller ID. I felt like it was a scam as soon as he started talking, he kept asking me to confirm that I use DTV for my TV service. I asked him to tell me my account number and he hung up immediately. Not sure if it’s just coincidence, but I had just contacted DTV customer service yesterday.
Got a call from them saying they're Direct TV ATT and offered me a promotion. I told him I needed a second to make sure he was who he said he was. Then after a moment he hung up. I'm sure it was a scam. Plus, it had that bloop sound before they started speaking. Lots of other people in the background, so likely a call center. You can always call ATT and ask them if they have the promotion.

Got a call from them stating they we're going to lower my direct TV bill to 62.50, they were going to provide me with a promotional code..... I told them I would call direct TV directly. I did, it's a scam.
Same Indian type accent saying he is with DirecTV. I had a bad feeling as soon as I saw the caller ID but picked up anyway. He asked if I was having problems with my DirectTV. I told him I didnt have that service, although I do and he said oh sorry wrong number. I know if it was a legitimate call they would have know I was a customer. Dont know what they are trying to get but they didnt fool me!
They called me and tell me they were Direct TV
They trying to steal money! Be careful people!
The number really does belong to AT&T direct TV, these morons that are calling must have cloned the phone # somehow.
Direct TV scam call. Said needed my updated information. Told them I had cable. They hung up.
I also got a call from them.... thick Indian accent. After he gave me a bad time I said hey Punjab.... got eat a cow! Then hung up on him.

Got a call from this number but didn't answer. I am so glad I did not after reading all the posts. If I don't know the number,I don't answer anymore. Very sad it had come to this...who in their right mind would get Amazon gift cards to pay for Direct TV services..don't people have common sense!?
Just answered a call from this number. When the man with a heavy Indian accent started his spiel I told him to remove my number from his call list. He said, "No." Then every time I spoke he told me he couldn't hear me. I told him again to remove the number and he couldn't understand me. He got increasingly rude. I finally hung up and blocked the number.
I just received a call from this same number. I did not answer since I do not recognize the number. A message was left by what sounded like a young American woman (no accent) saying "this is an important call from AT&T regarding my account #______" and to call them back at 800-880-9064
. Then thanked me for being an AT&T customer. I immediately looked up the number and found all this so I will not be calling them back.
This number, 800-531-5000, called with a heavy Middle Eastern accent claiming to be from Directv. He said they were going to send me new equipment for free and take $40 off my bill. It seemed pfishy, and then he gave an outdated zipcode... He asked for bits of personal information, husbands name, last 4 of the social, 4 digit pin. He was very aggressive and called me back when I hung up. I agree with the person below, I think it is an inside job. I called a few days ago, asked for a better price and the rep told me he would put me on a promotional call back list. The scam man that called referenced me calling about a better price and being on a promotion list. It's a rather convincing scam, glad to come out unscathed.
Heavy Indian accent called claiming to be from DirectTV. I said sorry wrong number because I dont have or want DirectTV. He started cussing at me then hung up.
I got a call from that number 800-531-5000 same as everyone less $62.50 promotion guy with a heavy Middle Eastern accent - I recorded the call & posted it live on facebook. They guy said have to pay 4 months first & would get $100 back.
1 think the guy new my name , address & the total of my monthly bill.
Sorry I feel this is a inside job.
I called AT&T regarding that.
& recording all those calls also.
Funny not 1 person at AT&T DIRECTV knows nothing. Really please.
I did not hear 1 other person in the background.
Reported the call to Federal trade commission with the recordings.
I still say it’s a inside AT&T company person.
He know to much about my bill
I never agreed to one thing he said when he said your total bill is $*** each month ( I just hmm really )
He added more info
Never did I say Yes or no.

I got the same call today promoting a special for two years at discount of $62.50 per month, just as others have mentioned on this website. I knew it was probably a scam and even told them that, due to their heavy India accent. I was passed to their promotion specialist and when he told me it needed to be paid up front with Amazon card I knew it was BS and hung up after listening to their crap for over 9 minutes. BE WARE and do not fall for this deal that sounds too good to be true!!
Caller ID showed DIRECT SAT TV E. I didn't answer. They left no message.
This number has called me non stop today trying to get me to verify my new address as I recently moved, it confused me because I have already received a bill in the mail and has service installed at my new address. I'm happy I decided to look this up
Indian gentleman, said his name was Mike. Repeatedly asked for a debit card number, in which I did not give out. Kept saying he would give me 6 months free and that he could drop my monthly bill 23.00. Insisted he could give me more HBO & other premium channels for FREE too. Seemed to good to be true. Glad I looked online! He is suppose to call me back later today.... he may be sorry!
6 calls in a day... This phone number is getting blocked!
Indian fello that was trying to tell me I would go two years Directv service for $62.50 per month. All the pay channels and Sunday ticket. They gave me a promo code and a “Directv” number to call. The Directv was 888-391-7547
. When you call this number the recording is quite convincing. It sounds like you are calling ATT/Directv. The gentleman told me to get this promo I need to pre-pay with $250 amazon gift card. If I did it today I would get a $100 visa gift card in the mail. All in all good scam. Very convincing. Just seemed a little too good to be true. I called att and they warned me this is a scam and not their promotion.
This guy with a heavy accent called to "Verify" my Direct TV order. I just placed this order yesterday so I thought it would be weird that they were calling to verify the order when I just spoke to them yesterday. I knew something was wrong when he wanted my date of birth which I refused to give him. Then he tried getting my debit/credit card number and when I told him no because this could just be a fraudulent call, he told me that if I didn't give it to him that my new direct TV order would be cancelled within 20min. After I hung up on him, he called me back 6 times in a row which I did not answer of course.
I have been an AT&T customer for years and have never had this happen but it seems this guy is getting the info from someone on the inside or AT&T's security sucks! He did know the acct holders name and he also knew I just ordered service with direct TV yesterday and the date/time of my scheduled installation.
I called AT&T to let them know what happened and gave the number which they said they would give to their fraud department to look into. I hope they actually do something about this guy. What an asshole. Why doesn't he get a real job and EARN money like the rest of us instead of spending his days trying to scam everyone else.
Caller said they were DirecTV but didn't know squat.
After allowing the caller to tell me the "offered promotion" I finally said I wasn't interested and caller said for me to go &#^$ my self.
Something told me the caller wasn't very reputable with respect to customers.
Really a shame. I enjoyed talking broken English with caller.
I wonder what gave caller away?
Apparently customer info is being leaked somehow and scammers are getting it for their scam calls.
Sure is a shame customer info isn't more secure. Makes me want to cancel all services from everyone and go off grid and just read day old newspapers for the liberal democrat entertainment value. ;-)

Please share info a put this number.
Claim he is from Direct TV and was very difficult to understand. He is trying get you to pay in advance your Direct TV in order to get lower effective monthly rate. He seems to know where your address is. Just tell him your switching to Comcast.
I signed up for DirectTV over the phone with AT&T and the next day I got a call from this number saying they are calling to confirm my appt. He had my address and the last four of my credit card number and the exp. date as well. Then he proceeded to ask me to give him the whole credit card number which I said hell no to. He said he had all my info. anyway so I told him to email me if they need confirmation. I hung up on the jerk and he called me back several times until I blocked him. He had a heavy Indian accent. I'm really concerned because someone from inside is either taking client info. or they need a more secure system. This is unacceptable. Please don't fall for this scam.

Called claiming to be from DirecTV with a special offer. When I said I don't have it. They said ATT does both. When I asked them to send in the mail they said no because it applied to only 200 people. I could tell this was a scam and promptly told them I was not interested and hung up.
1800-531-5000 called me in behalf of AT&T DIRECT TV AND THEN UNDER SPECTRUM. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS
WISH I HAD CUSSED THEM OUT. DON'T FALL FOR IT.
Scam! Phony offer they wanted me to buy and send them an Amazon gift card for $360 (2 months billing), then next 22 months I would get bundle billing (for both cell phone & TV service) of $179/mo. plus a $100 Visa card. Called AT&T and they confirmed it's a scam. Do not send them $$$
Four calls from this number within the last 40 minutes. No messages left. Did not bother to answer as I do not answer 1(800) numbers. After reading this, they are now blocked.
These scammers, who spoof DirecTV's customer service number in order to make themselves look legit, have called me several times over the past 2 years with the same scam: 1) go by Amazon gift cards; 2) call them back at their special number and give them the gift card number; and then 3) you will get a super-sweet deal on DirecTV service. But of course these folks have nothing whatsoever to do with DirecTV, and once you figure this out your Amazon gift cards are long spent. DON'T FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!!
This is SCAM! If you received call from this number, tell them to go FUCK them self!!!
Friend of mine Just received a call from 800-531-5000 who said they were from DirecTv and would offer me my cell phone bill AND tv for $62.99/month. I currently pay $235.00 for this service. When I told him no and that I thought it sounded too good to be true, he told me “I hope you die you stupid c*nt. I will find out where you live and kill you and your family.” Man with a very heavy Indian Accent. Beware people, scammers are all over the place!!!

These Indians (With a heavy accent called me yesterday & today to tell me I could save 50% off my bill but I have to pay for the year ahead of time. I told them why would I do that. I could drop dead today so why would I do that. He then said to me I hope you drop dead. These Indian scammers should be caught & locked up for a long time.
Directv scam. The lady told me she is going to save me 50% on my Directv. I have been getting blown-up by this number (even complained to Directv) and finally decided to answer. When I told her Directv informed me they weren't calling me from this number with offers, she immediately hung up the phone.

Got a call from an Indian babbling about AT&T, $300 gift card, etc....telemarketer.
Continuous calls from DirectTV which was purchased by AT&T 7/24/2015. Although AT&T is aware of the "bot" calls the company obviously refuses to address the annoying calls experienced by AT&T consumers and those of us who don't have the service. AT&T has curiously developed an "app" for any Smartphone that supposedly detects the calls, and of course blocks. But I suspect this is AT&T's round about way of soliciting sales. Bottom line: it's AT&T...
Got my second call from these scammers today. I know the scam they are running so I said "let me guess, you want me to pay $200+ with an Amazon gift card so you can scam me out of my money? " The man replied "yes, mam that is correct". I hung up. Got to give him credit for admitting it!
I had the exact same experience as the person from Texas below. I am in Georgia
Just had a call from this number. Same as other callers have experienced, this caller with Indian accent was advertising very low AT&T/Direct TV rates. Said if you prepay with a Amazon gift card for $360.00 you will have the service Internet/Phone/TV for $89.99 a month for 2 years and get a rebate of $150.00 with a VISA prepay card if you sign up by 9:00 pm. If it is to good to be true, it probably is...a scam.
Claimed to be from Direct TV calling me because I'm a Direct TV customer (I'm not) and they wanted feedback. As others have said, Indian accent. I tried to ask if he had my account number and what services did he think I have, etc. He kept saying he was from Direct TV. I hung up.

Get this call all the time "Direct TV" wanting to offer deals and reduce my bill. Someone needs to put a stop to this Constantly calling me 3-4 times a month. Tried to get me to pay my bill 3 months in advance with an Amazon credit card. So sick of this! About to change my number and drop ATT/Direct TV because of this. Oh look...another call from them as I am typing this!
People, just don't answer numbers u don't recognise! If Direct TV wants to contact u, they can send u a letter or email. It's not worth raising your blood pressure.
Called me this morning, trying to talk about my DirectTV account which I do not have. Definitely an Indian accent. I simply told him I'm not interested and to remove my number from his list. Just reported it to Nomorobo.

I got a call the other day from someone with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from Direct TV wanting to talk to me about my account. I was driving so told them to call back later. Well today (4/10/18) I've had 5 calls from this number that shows up on my phone as unavailable but is the DirecTV customer service number. I logged onto my DirecTV account. I then did a text chat to find out if they were trying to call me. DirecTV ATT&T Family is how the text name was listed from "Yenny" and their records shown that no one was or called me and to block the number. Then thanked me for letting them know about the issues. Hope this helps

Got a call from this number late morning, but I've been sick so was still in bed. Because I have arthritis of the spine and a vertebral injury with spinal stenosis, I took a while getting to the phone so the answering machine picked up before I reached the phone in another room. Caller didn't leave a message and isn't identified on CID. It's the Customer Service number for Direct TV, but I've never had Direct TV and don't even have a TV.
I was also delayed getting to the phone because my cane fell. If I fell, my insurance carrier (I have Medicaid) would investigate until they learn who the caller really is (the gov doesn't like to pay the medical bills if another party is liable) and the caller would be paying all of my medical bills. If I would be paralyzed due to the injury (a very real possibility), the caller would be liable for the cost of my medical care the rest of his/her life. The scammer needs to ask himself/herself if that is worth the little money they are getting from the few people who fall for their scam.
I answered, they hang up. Didn't say a word

INDIAN SCAMMERS KEEP CALLING FROM 1-800-531-5000 AND HAVE CALLED FROM A DIFFERENT NUMBER BEFORE! THEY HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT ME, MY ADDRESS, THE SERVICES I HAVE WITH AT&T AND DIRECT TV, ETC. THESE CALLS BEGAN THREE WEEKS AFTER I BEGAN MY SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH AT&T FOR INTERNET AND DIRECT TV FOR CABLE. THEY HAVE DESCRIBED THEIR SCAM IN DETAIL INVOLVING GIFT CARDS CODES THAT THEY WILL REDEEM OVER THE PHONE. ONCE YOU DECLINE THEY WILL SCREAM AND CUSS AT YOU. THESE GUYS ARE THE WORST HUMANS ON EARTH. AND THE WORST PART IS THAT AT&T AND DIRECT TV WILL ACCEPT ZERO RESPONSIBILITY AND ARE AT FAULT. THEY HAVE EITHER BEEN HACKED/COMPROMISED OR HAVE SOLD OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THESE UNSCRUPULOUS INDIVIDUALS.
There is a person that keeps calling my husband several times allday today. My husband told him to stop calling his number 214-244-9379
.that guy is still calling him that's harassment. You need to do something about this. Thanks.
Received this call right after I got off the phone with DirecTV. Called 2 times in less than a minute but hung up immediately.
Has called me 13 times in the last 24 hours. I answered the first time, declined any interest and hung up. I answered the second time, asked they remove my number. My husband then got on the phone and asked the same. Man with Indian accent told him to shut up, then proceeded to tell him he was fucking his mother, daughter and wife and threatened he knew where we lived. Has called 11 times since and I’ve blocked the number. When I call it back Direct TV hotline answers. I’ve complained to them and not only do they offer no resolution they didn’t seem to take the harassment and threats seriously even if it is a scam.
I hung up after two calls and then answered after the 3rd call. Thick Indian accent talking to me about cutting my bill by almost $100 bucks and keeping the same service. After saying NO, he got aggressive and reiterated that I didn’t have to give any information or a payment of any kind.
After saying NO 3 times more, I hung up and blocked the number.
Indian accent man who said he was from DirecTV offering $69.95 rate. He's a con man running a SCAM.

This is DTV’s phone number BUT IT IS SPOOFED and not really them!! My faith in the intelligence of the human race dwindles daily. Reading posts from some people here about the calls they received leads me to understand why these scams work.
A legit company NEVER asks for so many months up front payment, asks for credit card #, or any other personal information. That’s only done when it is YOU initiating the call to order. Why do people continue to give that info out?!?
I got multiple calls from the guy with the thick Indian accent (like I could tell Indian from Pakistani) who said he was from AT&T DirecTV. Caller ID said ATT. He wanted to know many TVs I had. I told him that if were from DirecTV he would know how many TVs I had. The guy is remarkably persistent. I think this is the same fellow that called from 800-531-5000
also. It's not the real AT&T because they check the Do Not Call registry.

I said "hold on while I get my TV bill" and he stayed on the line a long time. I finally hung up. They claim to work for direct TV ask for provider and ask how much you pay for the bill offer to half the bill.
Just got this call today, although I'm not a direct TV customer. I assumed correctly it is a fake call, but I played along.
Gave them a fake customer number, and they verified that I have a balance on the account ( that doesn't exists ) for $912 that needs to be cleared. Asked me for credit card number, and I respond to use the one on the account. But I verified the number and they said it match the number on the account ( of course, I made up the number ). But for their surprise the credit card number wasn't valid, and I blamed my wife for canceling this fake card. So, the guy continued and told me I can get a gift card and used it to pay the balance. I told him that I'll also buy him a gift at the same time... after 30 minutes, I told him I'm on to him... and I don't know why he got upset.

This is a scam. This number has called me before but I never answer numbers I don’t recognize and won’t call back unless they leave a voicemail, which this number never does. My husband was next to my phone when it called and answered. An Indian man who said his name was Bryan Anderson, claimed to be apart of the promotions department for AT&T & DirecTv. He told him about a promotion and my husband said he wasn’t interested and hung up. This number called 3 more times back to back but we weren’t around to answer. I found it odd so I googled this number and found this website with the exact same story. The man called again and my husband picked up. He went into the same speech about promotions and my husband told him he’s already called and he’s not interested. The man didn’t listen and proceeded to ask how much our monthly bill is, and he can cut it in half. We wanted to mess with him to see if we could push his buttons so we said $20. The man hung up. 30 minutes later, same number. This makes the 6th time today. We answer and he calls out my first name. When my husband answered he immediately hung up. This scammer is very persistent!
This number has called me before. I usually don’t answer numbers I don’t recognize. If it’s important, they’ll leave a voicemail. This number never did. However today, my husband had my phone when this number called. After this, the number called back to back 3 more times but we weren’t around to answer. I found it weird so I googled the number and found this site with the exact same story. The number called again and my husband once again answered. He told the man he had already called and he’s not interested. He wouldn’t listen and kept talking about their promotions. He asked how much our monthly bill is and said we could get it cut in half. We wanted to mess with him so we said $20. The man hung up. He called again, making this the 6th time today. We answered and he called out my first name. When my husband answered to it he immediately hung up. This is obviously a scam and this number is very very persistent!
They're completely blocked on my phone....real easy way to avoid their calls
I received a call from this number and they said they were AT&T. They wanted me to confirm my account #. Hung up and blocked.
It is beyond me why anyone would answer a call from a number they don't recognize. Stop answering. End of problem.
