I did speak to one of the callers, who asked for me by name. I refuse to identify anyone in the house when an unsolicited call comes, and the guy very reluctantly admitted he was calling from GMAC.
I asked a friend who knows, and he told me Ditech, the online mortgage company, uses GMAC. I've never dealt with ditech.

"SITEL Corp."
I'm unaware of any GMAC affilitations with the various credit cards I use. The calls have subsided, but they come in waves. They leave unintelligible messages with a phone number.

And NO, my father had never had any loan with GMAC, the debtor they were looking for was in another town 15 miles away, they just used the white pages and found the same name and made an assumption.

These people are Sitel Corporation based in Nashville, TN, website is www.sitel.com. Third class collectors at best, these idiots called, their caller ID came up, they then leave a message to call back at 1-877-829-9934. When you call the 770 number and ask if it Sitel they should say yes, if you call the 877 # they leave on answering machine they will claim to be GMAC. They have been calling for a few months now and asking for my Dad who passed away 7/2006 - I finally called back and told them to cease and desist in middle of May, they ignored, then on 5/29/2007 they got the message to stop calling and so far they have. These people are really stupid, I couldn't believe that they did not know that Sitel was coming up on the caller ID and then leaving an 877 # to call back and I wouldn't be able to put this together. I am getting our attorney to send cease and desist letters to both Sitel AND GMAC at same time. They are not smart now & I cannot see them getting any better in the future. Yes, I called them everything in the world and probably used a few mother jokes!

This SOB continues to call 6 to 8 times a day on two different phone lines looking for some guy named Merrick. In the past I have informed them that there is no Merrick here at this number, that this is a business office. They continue to call. Now I just refuse to answer. I have consulted an attorney and the FCC regarding this matter. Both have suggested that I file a complaint and the attorney wants to file a hefty law suit. I'm considering both. I believe this is harrassment. What they don't know, is that every call is being logged and recorded. Wow...are they going to get a huge fine according to the FCC AND the FTC. The Federal Trade Commission suggests that this practice falls into the category of "unfair business practices," while the FCC clearly advises that violating my do not call request as an "invasion of privacy...I can't wait to pop these SOBs. But I'm being very patient.

The first time this guy called, he left some kind of religious-sounding message so I just erased it. The second time he called, he didn't leave a message. The next time he calls I'll try to retaliate with something choice from: http://www.sorrygottago.com/
