I co-signed for a loan for my husband to go to school a few years back. Unfortunately he had a hard time finding a job and so we were unable to pay for awhile. Now they are calling his phone and my phone at all hours of the day sometimes they leave a message sometimes they dont. I picked up and answered this afternoon and no one answered they simply hung up on me. I feel like this is harassment, I know that my husband and I aren't the only ones who are having trouble paying back this debt I can't understand why Sallie Mae won't work with us to do what we can at the moment. Every time my husband tries to explain the situation they ignore him and ask him the same thing over and over again, you need to pay us the money you owe. It's stressful and I don't know what to do and how to get a resolution.

Son has a college loan backed by them, I cosigned and have made payments and such they still call 2 or more times a day mostly robo calls, which I believe is against FCC regulations on the collection of a loan, the loan is in my sons name and yet they never call him. this is becoming very harassing.

This number is, in fact, Sallie Mae. I have been receiving calls for the past week. No messages and weird hours they call. I ansered it once but no one was there. I called the number back and got, you guessed it, Sallie Mae. I spoke to Sallie Mae earlier today because googling the number showed that most people were saying it was Sallie Mae. I asked them what was up since I knew for a fact that I was not in default or even behind in my student loan payments.

They said I was 13 days late paying a late fee of $97.20. I had not been notified of any late fees, ever. I also told them that my payments to them are automatically paid by my bank like clockwork every single month for the past two years. What did they do on their end that caused this?, I asked. To which they responded that they didn't know! I said that they probably didn't apply my checks to the appropriate account. After researching it, the c/s person said that I was correct. They, Sallie Mae, did not apply my payment correctly in JULY! And since I didn't pay it, I was not behind in my payments. She corrected the problem she said after I asked for her name and employee number. I also asked her to stop the harassing calls from their collection agency. She replied that I had not be "behind" enough for the collections to be calling me and that is must be someone else or that I had another loan out somewhere, which I don't! I work in a financial aid office at a local college, and I can tell you that I always steer students away from Sallie Mae when working with students for lenders. These people are soooo not customer oriented.

Called office again - 8:21 - I picked up received and hung up. Wouldn't have done that but other ppl in would've answered if I hadn't. I don't answer the phone before we're open unless it's someone I know but in this case did for reason above. This call will never get answered, only hung up on. First, none of the Sallie Mae people will work with you. All they do is talk over anything you try to say. But, these people, who claimed to be collection for Sallie Mae, once I said I knew they weren't and I was on the do not call list and was demanding they quit call me, now only call me every couple of days and then they do not say anything. I looked them up on the freecellphonetracer and it is a land line in Muncie, Indiana. This is where one of the Sallie Mae's call stations is located, by the way. It is a land line and held by Time Warner Communications of India. They just live to irritate people. A lot of good the "Do not call" list does.

That number registers to MCC on our caller ID. We get a minimum of one a day and that includes today Sunday at 9pm. They say they are collection for Sallie Mae and that our son has four loans, correct, but that all but one are paid up and if we would just give them our numbers, we can pay a $33 fee to pay up that one account. I told them that we are not giving our numbers to them as I don't really know who they are. Then, the begin getting very angry and saying the bill cannot be mailed as it won't reach them in ten days. I told them we live in Indiana and they can send us a bill. None of his loans are paid up at this time as he is out of work. They have gotten very angry at myself and my husband. DO NOT GIVE THE any information. I'm not sure if they are even with Sallie Mae. They refuse to send things in the mail.

By federal law sallie mae has to call everyday if you have a delinquent account. even if they have already called you and talked to you they still have to call.. it is the federal government that gives student loans so they have to call.. if your account is current they shouldnt be calling, but the number is in an automatic dialing system which automatically calls delinquent numbers, if you request them to take out your number, and you are the borrower they are unable to remove number, if it really isnt the person they are asking fors number then they have to remove it.. just to clerify if you are late, they are going to keep calling regardless.. no need 2 get mad..

I get these calls from these people 3-6 times a day again and again. I never answer it. My wife answered one day and said it was solicitation from Salie Mae. We don't owe any loans or anything. I hate these people, they are scum and if I could stick my fist through the phone and strangle the life out of the person calling me I would do it. You know, I've said this to many people, as to why when you begin to receive phone calls from collectors, and you've NEVER heard of the person they are referring to, it just maybe because YES, the number that the nameless sap left on record, YOUR phone number is a recycled phone number to which that nameless SAP listed under his/her student loan.

Keep track of EACH call, and how each call went. FTC does have laws against this form of harrasement. Calling before business hours, on holidays, and calling so much and never leaving a message. You can litgate upto $1500 per infraction. BUT you MUST record the conversation (if in Texas, your not required to notify them of the recording AS LONG AS YOU KNOW your recording the conversation), but for the sake of argument, inform them. "I'm recording this conversation for Quality Assurance Reasons." Afterwards, inform them that you have notified them over the phone to STOP CALLING. The sad thing is, you also have to submit the Do Not Call notice by mail to the collection/telecaller. (depends on your state laws).

I had a student loan with Salle Mae (So I won't Deny the reason for them calling my phone(s)) Remember I said HAD. I consolidated and paid off my loans. But I'm still being harrased by MCC. When they call, you pickup and they hang up, that is also harrasment. When they fail to identify themselves, that TOO is also against the FCC laws, to protect consumers.

As Granny pointed out, FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS PRACTICES ACT look it up, that will give you plenty of cannon fodder.

I had a loan that was paid in full before it even reached repayment status. Two months before repayment was to begin it was paid to the penny. Then, when repayment began, they decided to start applying interest--when there was a 0 balance. Now, three months later, they claim I owe them nearly $500. They call a dozen times a day, every day. I have spoken to managers four times....the first told me it was a "prepayment penalty fee" for paying off the loan so early. The second told me it was a "disbursement fee", but sallie mae's own website states that my loan carries no such fee. The third told me that it was an "origination fee" which is the same thing as a disbursement fee, they tell me. And the fourth, last night, told me that it was a "guarantor insurance fee". Well, thats what he said after I kept hounding him about it--at first he said "there is no code here for that amount so I cannot tell you what it is..." What a ripoff....And they still cannot figure out, when they call, why I am pissed off and why I refuse to pay them....

I spoke to an operator once and told her I was not the person that they were looking for. She told me that she would remove my number from their system. According to her, it would be gone in about 24 hours. Guess what? No more than 10 minutes later the very same operator called me again!

Months later, they are calling me again on this 765 number. I simply don't answer the phone if I don't know who it is. It's not worth wasting minutes on. If they don't leave a voicemail message, I simply assume it's either a wrong number or a telemarketer.

Good Luck with the attempts to cease the calls. I have a student loan with Sallie Mae...what a bitch! I have always paid my monthly payments before the due date, at times I even pay more than the monthyl amount. Now they call 4(+) times a day including weekends just to remind me that my monthly payment is due. Once I spoke with a call operations manager, She was suppose to remove my name and number from the collections list...she could not understand how my name and number was even placed on the collections list...today my name still remains on the active collections list. Its time to take action...I am working with a lawyer to file suit against them.

I will not speak to anyone who calls me unless they properly identify themselves and the company they represent and the purpose of their call at the beginning of the call.

This is the first time they called.

I picked up and waited for a greeting. No reply.

I said, "Who is it?" No reply.

I repeated, "Who is it?"

AFfmale asked, "Christopher?"

Again I asked, "Who is it?"

She said, "Michelle."

That isn't identifying yourself and the company you represent, so I just hung up.

I suspected this MCC was Sallie Mae. Is for my daughter who has a student loan. They probably don't leave messasges because a collection agency, or any company for that matter which is trying to collect a debt, is prohibited from leaving any sort of message eluding to the reason for their call. The most they can do is leave their name & request a return call and hope they get a response. This I know because I work for a newspaper and we try reaching customers whose a/c's are about to suspend. Often, people aren't home and we leave a message asking them to call us back - that's all we are permitted to do. Of course, they mostly don't call back - they know why we are calling!

My husband has received numerous calls from the "MCC" number...then they state it is Sallie Mae. However, Sallie Mae hasn't heard of them. Furthermore, they won't tell me why they called...my husband and I don't even have any student loans. He went to SYracuse Univ. on a full ride football scholarship a few years ago. When they call I just tell them (after they state who they are) that the phone call is being recorded and will be used as evidence against them in court for violating the fair debt collection practice act. Failure to represent themselves honestly and give me an address where they are located is a strict violation of the act.

The caller asked for my personal information but would NOT identify who they were or if they were calling on behalf of someone else. Of course I refused to give them the personal info they asked for. If this is ever an attempt to call on behalf of a debt owed, the Fair Debtor's Collection Practices Act requires them to say certain things and especially they MUST identify themselves. I am disabled and have been on an economic hardship for years so I am truly angry at this low ball tactic. I fully intend to call and report them for violating the FDCPA! They can be fined up to $5000 per violation so I urge you all to file complaints.

THe college the loan was with showed up on 60 Minutes with a Bad Wrap and so she didn't even go to school. There were not to pay the school. So they need to get their money back from the school.
They call and I get wierd messages on my answering maching and anoying messages. They better stop calling.

They keep calling and not leaving any messages. I pay my loan each and every month, and for some reason they keep saying that I am 3-4 months late, and they want payment now.
They are the most un-organized loan place around. I will find another company, and switch out from Sallie Mae, they suck

No one in this house has a loan with Sallie Mae! They don't leave messages and the caller ID is misleading.

I told Sallie Mae a week ago it is the wrong number, not a debtor, and they said would stop calling. They called 4 times a day for 3 weeks. Now, still calling me, a wrong number.

Caller ID says MCC, called 3 times in 4 hours today - no message. I see here people saying collections for student loans - well, I have never had a student loan so what might they be calling for? Wrong #? I'm reporting them to the donotcall list again!

Sallie Mae is a true gansta. They dont even give you a chance to pay them back. And how the hell did they get my cell phone number? At this point send it to collection.

They call numerous times a day. Sometimes 765-283-3176 sometimes 765-283-3171 and sometimes 765-283-3170 all MCC. I use my answering machine to screen my calls, I really don't give a flying f*** if they have a policy of not leaving messages, if they want me, talk to the machine! Simple as that.

called 30 times in one day without any messages. I finally got a chance to answer and advised that until they left a message I would not speak with them.

Have called my cell phone twice. Won't identify themselves. Only say they are looking for Rene Russo. I told them they have the wrong number, but they called again. Supposedly this Rene Russo put my number down on an application, but failed to list a name. I hate people!
