I didn't think that this was such a problem! I'm glad I looked it up before answering. I've gotten so many calls from this company, thankfully i missed all the previous calls. A good roll of the thumb is to let the people who are actually trying to contact you leave a voice mail to have you call back.

Is there a way to find out which VoIp provider this number belongs to (678 518 2904) so we can report their client for misusing their product and scamming people?

It's Lowe's Credit Center, and they call me at all hours of the morning! 1AM, 3AM, 6AM... they DO NOT care! I was late with ONE payment and they are relentless! I called back the number but with *67 to block my number. Bunch of jerks they are!

I've gotten two calls from this number. The first time it was just silence, and after a few seconds I hung up. This morning they called again, and after saying hello, a few seconds later a man's voice responded with "Hello? Hello??" and as I tried to respond, they hung up. I have since blocked the number.

Started getting calls from this number several time a day starting a couple of weeks ago. Finally answered it today and a recording said that I needed to contact them about debt with a Lowe's credit card. I have no Lowe's credit card - this has to be a scam. Also, the the recording never specifically mentioned my name or anyone's in my household. Scam.

I started getting these calls every day this past week. No idea what it's for. I don't have any accounts with GE Capital or Lowe's, and never have. Some deadbeat must have put down my number to get credit so they can't track them down, and instead bother me.

I am confused from lack of sleep. This number comes up on my caller ID with 'GE Capital'. It is one number of many phone numbers that are different, and they all have same ID as 'GE Capital". I am tired. I do not know for sure but I am thinking that I am being hacked because everytime I boot up my computer (even with Never show my Physical Address) the phone starts to ring, and my iPod touch is also behind the computer on a charging wireless pad and it will bleep or beep right before the phone rings and it is gettin' on my nerves. I just read in some mail that I was tossing out that Walmart will begin showing up as GE Capital Retail Bank? Anyway, it is referring to GE Capital instead of Discover, which is on the card, or your option. If there is a relation I have not taken the time to check and see, but give it a rest so I can rest too! I received a card after beiing a victim of ID theft, and have a fairly good idea of who my ['ex-huband'] or the culprit may be, but that is another can of worms, and the card was in fact a Walmart card. I never activated it, so??? I only have to wonder after seeing this device advertised that you can get and I guess pay the small fee of $2.95 per credit card swipe is also another way to allow hackers to rip others off. I get tired of the phone ringing and I understand the frutration you must feel. If a small square device you can plug into your cell or mobile phone to be used for 'on the go services', ie. physical trainer, dog walker, etc., then some how there must be a connection. The only other thing I can think of is I had my phone number changed and whoever used to have it must not have told anyone that they too had the same number at one time and dropped it for whatever reason, and perhaps they are looking for that person. I get their snail mail too, but write "wrong address" on the envelope and put back in return box. Sorry for the length, but lack of sleep puts me on edge. I just want them to get their stuff together. Call the right person; do your homework. I thought all hackers did research.

Call your local phone company to see if they have a service called "Call Intercept".. there is a monthly charge to have this service. With "Call Intercept", you can block any number in the United States. I have "Call Intercept" on my home phone thru Verizon and I am able to block 25 numbers. The person calling your number will get a recording saying "THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING DOES NOT ACCEPT CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER, GOOD BYE." It's GREAT blocking Portfolio Recovery Associates from calling all day from different numbers. I am hoping that Verizon will extend call count from 25 to 50 numbers.

If they are calling you on a cell phone, see if you have a "reject" list. My phone saves up to 25 numbers that you can reject and your phone will reject the call. You can also Google "cease and desist" and find a form for sending them a C&D letter telling them not to call you, and they will have to quit calling.

What I can add to all this is about 678 518 2904:
If you hear the recorded message, need to stay on the line for 3 or 4 or 5 seconds untill someone on the other end gets connected (the way automated system works with room full of operators).

We had been getting two calls a day for last week and a half. Wife would either not answer in time (no message left) or she would answer and hear the short recorded message "this is an important call", then hear nothing and she would hang up after a couple seconds and say "there is nobody there, is just a stupid recording".

Today; I answered the call, heard the recorded message, and waited about 5 seconds, and then someone said Hello and asked to speak to someone I never heard of (but whos name is somewhat simialar to wifes). I say there is no one here by that name, and I gave our names to prove it, and stated that have been recieving many calls and consider it harrasment and requested to be removed from thier call list. I asked who it is that is calling. He just again asked to speak to that other person (okay, now I am mad.) I explained again (louder) that this is so and so's phone, do not know any such person. He said he would remove our number from the system.

What does not make sence is:
- this is wifes work phone. Not used on any credit card account of any sort.
- caller is asking for a particular persons name, as if that person gave this number, or the number was in error. BUt then the caller says "will remove your number from our system", as if it is just a number in a list, not a number for a particualr person.

I have a therory:
This is just a scam to get the name of the person. This increases the value of the number to be sold to other marketerrs.

I tell you, some folks have no decency at all.

I answered their call the second time they tried calling. They asked for another family member that never lived in my home, he lived down the street. So these people are calling everyone that lives near by from that persons address to find that person. I know that person would have never given my phone number for any reason.

HERE'S A TIP: For annoying frequent calls (ie debt collectors) to your cell phone you could save the numbers that call and assign them a unique ringer ID to ring as 'Silent'. So you'll get the call but it won't ring your phone and bother you. Then instead of getting annoyed or frustrated you can just laugh. Sure it seems they call from a million numbers but after a week or two you'll have them all saved and silenced. (ps. I ran into an old Nokia phone with no Silent setting so what you might do is just create your own ringtone with just of couple "pauses".)

These calls must stop! What list do they get this from? I do not give out my number and if it is GE Money, they are selling our information. This needs to stop. Calls all times of the day! GO Away! I will not answer this call so quit calling!
