constantly calls...great suggestion from *no answer* to access cbegroup.com and use client login...take it one step further by entering your phone cnct nbr as 718-828-9972
.....it is a busy test signal...got this from another complaint site...if enough people enter that as their phone cnct nbr and they constantly get a busy signal maybe it will have some kind of positive effect...thanks

CBE Group and probably the whole collections industry has a bad practice of associating any number they can with a collections account. I called them back to ascertain where they are getting the incorrect information from and could not get anything. I'm thinking now that legal proceedings may by the only avenue to resolve this ongoing problem. Since they called me 3 times to my cell phone and 2 of those calls were recorded messages they've gone well beyond the federal DO-NOT-CALL laws. Sure, they are nice enough to mark the number as invalid when you call them back but the damage has already been done.
I read the messages before posting and I don't owe any of the companies named money. We have no credit cards, we use cash only. They call constantly and leave no message. Ridiculous. I will not answer their call.

they call all day then they call my parents and say they can't get a hold of me. I don't give my parents no. out
Told woman we had already notified her company that the person she was asking for doesn't live her, here and asked her to remove number from their call list. She informed me there was no "call list" and if the last time they called, we just said "Stop calling" and hung up, then that's why we were still being called.
Called last night, asked for woman's name that I do not know. Called again today, CID only, no message.
This bill collector has been hasseling me from 515-453-2972
regarding a fraudulent account that has been charged to me. As the numbers are in close sequence I presume it is them using this number.
Correction for my previous entry. I answered a call from this number and they are trying to collect a fraudulent account set up in my name by Amazon.com, according to the caller. However, I still believe that GE Moneybank and CBE Group are working together on these cases to harass me into paying these fraudulent accounts in order for me to get them off my back. I filed a complaint against GEMB (and they stopped calling for a month) and within a week CBE took up with the Amazon.com case where GEMB left off--exact same style, tactics, etc. Of course these ID theft accounts are listed on my credit reports so these companies have the info to swap accounts, tactics, etc.
I didn't catch the name of the company, but they were asking for my ex-husband. Give past history, I suspect a collection agency.
This is a collection agency most likely acting for GE Money Bank. The caller did identify his company and gave a first and last name for himself--a rare and, I believe, professional response. However, he refused to identify his principle or the reason for his call until I identified myself, my address, etc. So it turned out to be a standoff. FYI GE Money Bank is trying to force me to pay for a fradulent accont they set up in my name.
PS: The CBE Group is located in Waterloo, IA.
This is just a collection agency. They represent health care providers, among others, and I imagine this is why they're calling me. Although others report multiple calls, they've only called me once. I find the best way to deal with debt collectors is just not to answer, not to engage. Eventually they seem to give us.
this time i answered the phone. an said nothing. they immedatly picked up the phone an go "hello? hello?" i said " i already told you to take my name off your calling list." ( angryly) The young man says "ok im sorry sir"
This CBE Group's CEO is Thomas R. Penaluna; they are in Waterloo, Iowa. They keep calling for my mother who died 3 years ago and they will not stop. They are calling before 9am and after 9pm. I don't answer when I see them on caller ID and there's hangups when the answering machine kicks on. I called the number back, using *67 before dialing in order to block my number, and told the guy who answered to stop calling before 9am and after 9pm or I was going to report them to the Feds. If you google the ceo's name or CBE group, you will find many, many instances where they've been in trouble or are being sued for violating some consumer collection fair privacy act or something like that. Go to their website, cbegroup.com and go to client log in and sign up for them to contact you putting in bogus info -- like company name: QUIT HARRASSING ME; address: do not call before 9am and after 9pm; I put in all kinds of crap in each category and when I got to email I put in 'email@example.com' and for telephone number 123-456-7890
. Maybe if everyone would keep sending info like this over and over again, they'll get the message!
Asked for Steve O' Rally.
The actual number on my caller i.d. is 515-453-2972
. The call back number is 800-665-5315. I get 5-7 calls a day somtimes, with various messages every day or so.
This is an update to my original post under the name "Michael" on 2007-10-09. The call back number given by the caller is 866-884-7575
. The most recent caller's name is Kevin.
This Des Moines number calls about 5-7 time a day, 7 days a week, but only leaves a message about every 3 or 4 days. They are looking for my ex-wife, who incidentally has never even been associated with my number. I haven't answered it yet. This is frustrating to me, because for several years now I have been getting calls like this from various collection agencies and attornys' offices looking for her. I usually end up answering and giving them her work number in hopes that they will quit calling me. It works for a while until the next agency starts calling.
calls all day long we do
Kept calling several times a day. Finally answered one and they were looking for someone who doesn't live here and we don't know. Told them to stop calling. Kept callling. Told them again. They feigned annoyance that we wouldn't tell them anything about the person they were looking for.
have been calling for two days now with no message
Sears Credit Card...just ignore them

These people called my neighbor looking for me. I am absolutely sick over this from complete embarassement. She told them that she would not give me any message (of course I got the message). Who else in my neighborhood are they calling? Is this legal?
