Have received the following calls:
04/15/09 from 206-682-0415, "FOP Memorial"--this is a Seattle Area Code
5/12/09 from 509-244-8705, "Police Memorial Fund"--this is a Spokane Area Code (see above)
05/21/09 from 206-866-1920 from "Police Memorial Fnd"--a Seattle Area Code
6/8/09 from 360-547-1900 from "Police Memorial Fund"--this is a California number
06/15/09 from 425-437-0640 from "FOP Mem Found"--a friend has a CA cell phone with this Area Code
06/22/09 from 253-275-36009 from "Police Mem Fnd"--I hung up on this caller; don't recognize the Area Code.
There has been recent activity in Spokane dedicating a police memorial but something odd is going on.
I am a former Spokane Police employee but have no idea why all these varied callers are contacting me.

Polite, but pushy. When I didn't commit, they requested to call in 6 months. I get turned off real fast with pushy people.

They keep calling us, very rude approach. They claim to be representing the Kirkland police department (which they don't). We reported it to the local police department and DA.

Like others the caller ID said Police Mem Fund. Brian was very polite, saying he was calling on behalf of the Police Memorial Fund for the state of Washington, where we live. I told "Brian" that I never make any donation to a charity without knowing how much of the funds raised went for the purported purposes. The phone went dead. A friend of mine checked out a Police Memorial Fund with the state when we lived in New Jersey. As I recall then over 95% of the money received went for fund raising, less than five percent went to any fund recipient. How do you spell S-C-A-M?

1st of all, these idiots that make these calls, have no conscience, no feelings, & couldn't care less. talking w/them or trying to explain anything falls on deaf ears!! you are wasting YOUR time/energy by talking to them. & when you answer the fone, they now know this is a valid & working fone number. i have had to get an unlisted, unpublished fone number which costs me several dollars each month which could well be put to another use. the reason i had to go to this inconvience is because of idiots that have nothing better to do, than call @ inconvient hrs, to solicit or whatever. we also had a stalker, so where/how some company gets our number is a mystery. so here's how it works @ our house .. we do NOT answer the fone when there is no cid .. re: annonymous, unknown, no name, or numbers we are unfamiliar w/, non-profit calls & 800 numbers .. period! IF these callers feel their call is important, then they can leave a detailed message which includes their name, the nature of their call, whom they wish to contact, their fone number & a convient time to return their call IF they feel they need a response. messages that are incomplete, inaudible, or computer generated, are NOT returned. our fone is for 'our' convience, NOT to call us & bother us before 12 noon, after 6 p.m. or on wk-ends. perhaps, if more ppl would take this attitude, maybe these idiots would find some other way to make $$$/get their jollies?! my fone .. my rules .. my money that pays the bill!

After telling the guy that he could send info via snail mail and he got my shipping address, I was trying to ask some questions and he
rudely cut me off and then hung up after finishing what he had to say. So I called the number back that was on cid and explained to them how
the guy was rude and they wouldn't be getting any donations with people being treated that way. I also asked to be removed from their list... so we'll see. I just wanted to look this number up to see if this was a scam or not. Seems to be real, so I feel a little better.

Got 2 calls on different #'s (far apart) from these guys today. Caller ID says Police Memorial Fund. The guy was polite enough. I refuse to donate to any cold calls but if he's legit it could be a worth cause so I'll at least consider. he's sending a pledge form via snail mail.

Legally, charities are not covered by the national do not call registry. It's only for-profit businesses that are not allowed to call you.

This number showed up on caller ID from Spokane, WA and asked for a donation for a Police Memorial. The funny thing is, I realized after an inappropriate response from the caller that the message was actually automated! If you say nothing, there is more spiel with spaces for responses from the callee. I would be wary of saying "yes" to any of the questions and feel that this technique is a bit deceiving. Obviously, telling this "person" to put you on a no-call list is not going to work.

I was just looking to see if this was a real thing- Caller was very nice. I contacted a rep from the state FOP website and this is legit. I told them I didn't like to give payment info over the phone so they are sending a pledge sheet.

Have received 3 calls from this number, saying they are the Police Memorial. Have asked 3 times to be added to their "do not call" list. Somehow I don't think they're going to do it this time either.

"Police Memorial" left on the answering machine with no other information. That's crap because it sounds like something is wrong when you get a message like this. Is it the police or is it a hospital. Is someone in trouble? Did someone get hurt? Who knows.

I am on the "do not call list" and received a call from 809-244-8705 wanting money for the Police Memorial fund. As NWA says "#!@* the Police".
