I used to be a collector...when the phone rings simply answer it and see who they want, believe me if you're not the person they are looking for the calls will stop...I believe the sol for pa is now 6yrs,maybe 7 but that doesn't mean they still can't try to collect on the debt,it just means they can't legally sue you or put it on your credit report...if it is you they wqnt andyou don't want anymore calls then simply send a letter telling them to stop calling you, send it certified, return receipt........if you truly are being harassed by them call the pa attorney generals office, ask for consumer affairs and they will send you a simple form to fill out, then their legal dept will contact the collection agencies legal dept qand you should get it resolved...there are also tons of lawyers out there who do nothing but sue collections companies.hell you don't even have t prove wat you're saying and the gaencies will pay !!!

I got this call out of the blue. Could just about hear the guy, said "They had a business praposal for me".
But they already had my history, and felt it would not meet their needs, but would not go into detail, then hung up.

Oh, alright. I see that "PLEASE READ" from yesterday is a reply to "Please Read" from 2.5 years ago. Confusing entry formatting there.

One other point is misleading, the writer's pat definition of a credit report. It does not exist to show outstanding debts to a consumer. Were that the function, the bureaus would not have made it so bloody hard for consumers to see them for so long. A credit report is mainly a risk assessment tool for lenders. You need to see yours periodically to be certain the risk of lending to you is not understated or misrepresented.

Indeed, fraudulent and distorted entries appear all the time which try to force people to pay what was never owed. Challenging those bad entries is even harder than reading your report used to be, but it can be done. A freshly enacted FCRA amendment now forces the bureaus to do more than rubber-stamp their often laughable account "verifications". At least on paper they must. Good thing they can be sued like the collectors for negligence and fraud.

No, no, and also NO .... You do NOT get mixed up with "FreeCreditReport", "FreeCreditScore", or any other brand for Experian's CIC Triple Advantage. They have been busted over and over for misleading people into becoming paid subscribers and preventing service cancellation. Everyone is entitled to one free annual report with no strings, directly from the top three bureaus, thanks to the FTC. See AnnualCreditReport-dot-com or FTC-dot-gov for more.

"Please Read" and "Jen" were less than complete on the issue of debt account age. A credit report is a valuable tool in credit repair and when collectors come calling, but not the last word on what a collector may chase you for. Simple derogatory entries vanish seven years after the last date of activity, but you must learn the Statute of Limitations for all categories of debt in your state to be certain a collector is unable to win a judgment in court. In some states SoL is less than seven years; others generously extend beyond seven.

It is also vital not to make verbal agreements which may inspire a collector to reset the SoL clock, and to be sure no one has made false entries on your credit report. It is true a collector has to be careful not to violate privacy provisions of the FDCPA, but the same law also mandates a certain "meaningful disclosure" of the collector. Some agencies have learned to use that conflict to create confusion and fright, conditions which may persuade an alleged debtor to fold before exercising her rights. Don't be a chump for chiselers like T&K. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.

THIS IS ANOTHER LAWYER THAT IS FAKE AND IN REALITY HE IS A ..ONCE AGAIN A COLLECTOR...GET A JOB YOU COLLECTORS...LOL

This is a valid debt collection law firm. What they do is they buy past-due accounts and debts from other companies and they are working for them to collect the amount owed. In other words, if they call and say "I am calling regarding your Palisades account" and you have no idea what they are talking about, it's most likely because Palisades purchased a debt from another creditor, such as Capital One or a medical bill. They will not and do not have to give you any information...this falls under the FDCPA laws. They can only give out information if you can verify who you are. Otherwise they are possibly giving out someone elses information. If you believe that you have no outstanding debts, the best thing you can do is go to freecreditreport.com and pull up your credit report. This is a valid document showing whether or not you owe any company money.

It's a scam people!!! Don't give your information to these scammers!!! Report them to the FBI and the FTC!!! Don't be fooled!!! They've been trying to get info out of me for a while now, but they just can't get my name right, and nor can I understand them! Unless you can afford to throw away money that you don't owe them, then by all means hand out your information....but even if they are trying to collect on unpaid debts from a long time ago...if it's past several years, they have no business in doing so anymore. Scammers make me sick!!! And I don't even have any upaid debt! That's the kicker!!! I hope these people fall off the face of the earth!

I have been in Ch 13 bankruptcy for two years and as a condition of that I am not allowed to incur any new debt, and I've been paying everything only in cash since I filed. All of my previous debts are covered in the bankruptcy. I have been making my bankruptcy payments as ordered on time, every single time. It is ABSOLUTELY ILLEGAL for a debt collector to contact me, yet this mystery company has been doing so and I fully intend to bring charges against them for this. On the other hand, and this should be of great concern to everyone involved, they keep confusing my name...Sharon, Sherry, Shawn, Sherman....but in that case, how are they getting the wrong name but the right phone number??? I am therefore wary of identity theft and who the heck else out there is examining data on me. I am a new IT worker and know of many frightening things hackers and scammers can do.
To all of you...be very careful. Check your credit reports to make sure no one else is opening accounts in your name. And if you are on a CHapter 13 plan, contact your attorney and trustee and report this immediately!

These people keep calling for my old neighbor.Tate and Karlin. They have an unlisted number so her debt always calls us. When I tell them they have the wrong number they say this is the number for the address. I finally got mad enough to say well yeah she lives in the downstairs aparment. So they said well give us her number and I said I dont have her number she lives downstairs, I just go and talk to her face to face when I want to talk. Then they had the audacity to say.,"Then bring her the phone!" I said please take my number off your list and do not call, I know my rights! They keep calling anyway...I just dont answer anymore. I dont even live there anymore but my husband insisted we keep our number.....ugh!

I been receiving calls from 1-866-923-5194 and they leave a message. So I decided to call and they stated they were Tate & Kirlin and has my Washington Mutual account. I stated to them that another agency has that account and I will not setup any payment arragements with them. Called the agency who has my account and they still have my account. So my suggestion to everyone out there to document your phone calls to these collections agency get full name of the person you are talking to ask where are they located, there badge/rep.#, date and time you spoke with them. Also, keep letters that they send you.

This company's been calling for 6 months, always asks for "Holda." Who knows who that is. When I called back they wouldn't release any info on "Holda" though they thought I was her. Weird!!! I was told by my cell phone company to file a police report of Harassing Phone calls and the cell phone company would then release to the police all details of when the company has called me. so, I'm guessing I can press charges, and plan to do that right now!
This phone number shows has being located in Norristown, PA. zip 13440

do not call lists are for telemarketing only. being on a dnc list doesnt help with the bills that you owe. i have payed my bills through this office. i checked the bbb website and seen that this office has received a satisfactory rating, which in my opinion is excellant for this type of business. keep in mind if you owe a bill the credit that you receive may be financed by a different co. than the one you opened the account with. best option answer the phone when you recieve a call and ask questions.

They call me sometimes several times a day, sometimes right after the last call and let it ring. Usually hang up when I answer. One young girl was calling me names and yelling at me, asking if my mommy pays my bills because I (lied)told her I didn't have a job, and that I was 31. She went on saying that I should be embarrassed that I was almost 40 and not paying my bills. Her boss took the phone and he wasn't any better. Hung up and said he'd let me get back to watching TV. They have even called my grandfather, and continue to bother my parents even, whom they just did a last name search and call everyone that shows up on that list. These are the bottom feeders of collections, people. Don't send them any money. All this over some little $300 maxed out crappy credit card (they say I owe $thousands now)that defaulted in college 7-8 years ago, beyond the point of being collectible or affecting credit, as far as I know. What they are doing is illegal. They sometimes call from different out of state cell phones or numbers with some name you won't recognize. Either don't answer the phone, or pick it up and just have fun messing with them. Eventually they will see it isn't profitable for them. Another number they use is 267-672-5071.

put this # on your caller id and DONT ANSWER. Answering makes their calls legit. Make them send a letter. I got no information other than a phone # each time they call. Then, they leave a voice message. They do not id themselves as bill collectors - THAT IS ILLEGAL! Just dont answer the calls. ANYONE can become a freelance bill collector now, so they will do anything to scare you into paying so they quit calling. If you dont owe - dont answer!

I TOLD THEM THAT THEY ARE BETTER OFF SUING ME BECAUSE I WOULD TAKE MY CHANCES WITHA JUDGE WHO WILL LEGITIMIZE TEH DEBT AND MAKE IT EASY FOR ME TO REPAY VERSUS A SCAM.
