I finally answered one of these calls. After saying hello for a second time, a live voice answers wanting to talk about my credit cards. When I asked who the organization is and asked to be taken off the list, they hung up on me.

This is a Credit Card Phishing expedition. They tell you need to have at least $3500 in debt, and that they want to lower you interest rates to 6%. Then they ask for the credit card that has the most debt -- and they want the credit card number. I asked them for their number and they gave me 877-283-8065 x251. When I told them I would look them up and call them back, the guy hung up on me. Googling the number reveals that it is a credit card scam operation. Be careful, and never give out CC information to a company you haven't initiated the call with!!

Incoming call ID'd as "Tacoma, WA", I did not answer since the number was not one I recognized. No message was left (only rang once before hang up). From other posts it looks like a phone scam.

I got this call and played along. It started out with a recording and then went to a live person. He said that since I had made six months of on-time payments on my credit card, I was eligible for a rate reduction to 6 percent. Then asked for my credit card expiration date and number. I kept playing along and gave him a bogus number and told him I was an old person with dementia. He was able to check my number immediately and knew it was bogus. He said to get a credit card statement and give him the number. I kept acting like I was confused and giving him different, random numbers. At one point he claimed to work for VISA. Then he said he worked for credit card services. Kept changing his story and trying to get a credit card number out of me. Also said he was in Florida even though the caller ID was Tacoma WA. He eventually gave up and hung up on me. Definitely a scam of some type.

Credit card parasite scammers - buy an aerosol boat horn, and blast 'em when the live rep comes on the line - that will get them to take you off their list!

I answered the phone call. First I heard a recorded message about lowering my credit card interest rates. Once I got to a live person the audio sounded very "tinny" and far away like it was a poor cell phone connection. The caller said he was calling from Florida & had a very "island" type accent. I told him that I was on the do-not-call list and the line went dead. Call backs just provided a canned message. I attempted to file a complaint with the national do-not-call registery but could not for the reason that this phone number was less than 30 days new. BIG TIME SCAM! GUARD YOUR WALLETS!

Called me on 1/11/10 at 12:58pm, got the usual automated message regarding Credit Cards. New year so I guess they got a new phone number. It is a cell phone out of Tacoma WA. Didn't stay on to press 1 or 2 because when you press 2 it never removes you from their list. I feel sorry for the people that fall for this "crap!"

They have automatic dialers that call you to see if you answer live, get an answering machine or a fax machine. They call back until you answer live. When you do answer live your number and the time to call you goes to another system where a live telemarketer will be on the line. This way they do not have to pay the employee to listen to answering and fax machines.

I wonder if this is the same company based in Florida that figures out how to fake CALLER ID?

I got the same harp music.
