I used to work with those guys. I thought i could get a job for fundrasing, but i never thought it'd be telephone calls. I worked in the office in 2111 w. march lane. It was in the summer of 2006. Before it got the title CPYC, it was california police activities league. To my knowlege the supervisor of that office was named Kurt Spencer. I was told that i would be paid hourly, but with strict rules. First, the work was usually 4 hours a day 6 days a week. If we wern't sucessful we had to work on sunday. We couldn't get a break until the next two hours. We usually get a 5 minute break. Nothing else. The office was full of Unix Based computers and auto dialers. We had to read the scripts that was given in folders for every excuse the people would give us. The atmosphere was awful. The supervisor Kurt Spencer had a really nasty attitude. He also yelled in front of his secretary who i felt really bad for and it made me alot nervous and scared. He also had 3 other lackeys whom I dont remember. they were experienced but were in charge of making calls to oregon. Thats right.. Oregon. Kurt would claim that we get big bonuses for the office with the most fundraising calls and said we get sponsored by the Oakland Raiders. Imagine that..
Wheenver we don't get good donations, he get even angrier. Few weeks later, we were told we changed to CPYC and if we ever mentioned California Pal he would snap. What made my job difficult was having to call random people and they start swearing at me and shit for calling them. Can't say i blame them, but the most difficult part was that they would record the message even it was at progress through a walkie talkie or something. If i made one mistake kurt would snap. Also if i was late to work i get suspended for 3 days. I had to be here on the dot. If i broke the computers or headset by mistake it would come out of my pay. If i don't get good donations, the hourly pay will go to more training which suck ass. All they do was had me in the other room and make me go over the script again. As soon as I saw more violent outrage from kurt and th other workers i had to tell him i was gonna quit my job on sunday, just like that. I came to get my last check as usual and bailed out.
With that said I encourage you guys NOt donate to this obvious scam, but take it out on the rotten supervisors and not the callers because we are also victims of a job fraud too.

Didn't say anything then-- Good bye.--
They're just collecting money for "Youth at Risk" in the community. They are real polite but they want a commitment before they hang up with a minimum donation of $15 -- then they get kinda pushy pushy. I just read that this company is actually privately owned NOT Police affiliated like they say, and they are getting sued for fraud... so BE careful!

Sacramento charity among 12 sued in statewide crackdown
May 30, 2009 | Andrew McIntosh
The CPYC operation, its executive director, Christopher Eaton, and its Texas-based for-profit phone fundraisers were accused of defrauding and misleading donors about how much of their money would really go to charitable activities.
The state also accused the charity of falsely reporting that it handed out almost $1 million in grants in 2006; it gave out only $110,000, the state alleges.
In court documents, the attorney general also alleged that Eaton failed to use donations for the purposes for which they were requested; CPYC also falsely said its financial statements were audited when they weren't audited.
This was reported May of last year, yet they STILL call, and most the time they hang up.
a bunch of sh-t heads trying to scam money from people
Keep calling several time especially around 8p to 9 pm which is odd. I told him to send me information gave him my address with out giving my Apt #. They called back to accuse me of saying the place I live in is a apt building. They knew I was getting pissed for being pressured about my address. A woman by the name of kim said thank you and have a good night. they are a complete scam.

Nobody said anything when they called me. The air was dead, then I heard a chair squeak, then they coughed. I said, "Hello" twice and then they hung up on me.
Asked for money to donate to youth and said you have to do a min of $15/$20. They ask for a solid answer for your commitment. I said OK to send me info. in the mail, then when they tried to transfer me, I hung up. Something just didn't feel right once they were being very pushy. Like others said, I could give money directly before giving it to them!
answered the phone but no one there. Tried to call back the # and it rang twice and went dead.
Disconected when my machine answered .
Also on the leave me alone list! hubby answered they managed to keep a pissed contractor on the phone 10 min while his dinner got cold! SCAM is corredt they just want your money!
They're from stockton. Just called and I called them back -- they're trying to earn money. It's a real way to act like a parasite when we pay taxes. If they're really from the police department like they say then it would be advertised in the paper and not by telemarketer.

Just forget these call. Don't answer them. They are fundraiser. If you accident pick up and someone answer says just a minute set the phone down and walk away. let them listen to the tv radio. Don't sweat this crap. Tell your brother or father or other family member is cop and you have to talk with them first. Tell them to sent the information in the mail otherwise, so stop call me. Another one is ask for their home phone number and when they say can't give it to you because tell can't receive call at home tell them you can't either and hang up.

HANGS UP ON ANSWER WHEN I CALL THE NUMBER IT SAYS ITS DISCONNECTED
I'm on the do not call list and I'm getting calls from this number but there's no answer.
Gordon Byom Apr 02nd, 2008
Doesn't say a name, only initials which are meaningless to me. Now it's another number to let CallZap take care of.
These jerks aren't involved with the cops! Just a bunch of money grabbers who take 90 percent of the loot for themselves and give the kids a box of Legos and few sticks of chewing gum. Why don't they get a clue and LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE!
Repeated automated calls from these guys over the last two days. Very annoying--when I picked up today, got high-pitched double beep in my ear, then cut off. I called the number and got an automatic message that said among other things to leave my phone number twice if wanted to be removed from their call list. So I did.
Hung up when my answering machine took the call.
they did not leave a message.
I've been receiving about a call a day from them for over a week.
Interesting that I have received calls (and in some cases mailings) from several California Police youth organizations.
This one is most annoying as it is a hang up (with short beep) everytime. It's probably some sort of auto-dialer on the fritz.
I too think that some of these are definitely scams.
these butt wads called wanting money to help the wild fire victims and they didnt seem ligit so i'm not going to give these people I've never heard of after reading all the below info I know they are scammers. I'd rather go to the emergency evacuation centers & give the money directly to those who need it.
They called us tonight and my husband answered the phone he said it was some guy asking for donation for youth gangs. What the hell is this crap? We are going through wild fires in So Cal and these idiots are asking for donations for gangs? I thought the police don't solicit over the phones? SCAM written all over this one!
I answered the phone and they hung up on me..
I've received at least 5 calls from this number. I have not answered and they do not leave a message. One time my boyfriend answered and it was a fax machine. I'm on the do not call list..how do they get away with it?
Got the call at 7:41pm today. Didn't pick up. They hung up when they got my answering machine.
This appears to be a FAX autodialer. I got a FAX beep when I answered, then my FAX line rang, which happens to be the next number in sequence. They have called at least 3 times.
I see their number and CA Police YC on the caller ID. They didn't leave a message.
7:07PM PST. Now I know I don't need to talk to them.
These Morons called me over three times today, I got scared when I READ Police, I picked up Instantly, once I did they hung up on me.
I called them back and it was disconnected, I'm getting a bit upset right now. I think its a scam telemarketing company to get you to feed money to the "government" someone should do something about these assholes
I am on the DO NOT CALL list, they violated it however they're NON PROFIT
So they get away?
