Received my National Debt Bureau call this evening from a local SC number. After letting these guys give me their dog and pony show for a few minutes, I was told that "Craig" (Indian accent) was calling from Miami (I think not), that the company's website was www.attorneynetwork.com, and that their company had attorney's on staff who would negotiate my credit card debt (which I don't have-see Dave Ramsey) down by 45%, I proceeded to have a little fun with him. I explained that I actually did attend and graduate from law school and proceeded to list the federal laws they were violating (I'm sure they knew and didn't care). I occupied every inch of air during the last 5 minutes of this conversation and they ended up hanging up on me. I am going to try and report these guys just for fun. I hope they call back (its a good stress reliever), but doubt they will. By the way, when I demanded their telephone number "John" (the supervisor) told me that these were "satellite generated calls". When I call the local number, I get the "your call cannot be completed as dialed" routine.
Caller said I have over $50,000 debt and he wanted to "help" me. Told him I didn't have any debt and he kept interrupting saying he knew I did. I told him it was none of his business what I had and I didn't want him calling back. He kept interrupting until I told him to "f.... off and never call here again" - I then hung up on him. He has called a total of five times in the last four months. Wish I could meet this idiot in person - he wouldn't have any fingers left to dial the phone. He'll know what a real maniac (Mainer) is really like.
A male called. The caller didn't realize his message went to the family answering machine. He didn't speak English very well and was very nasty on the phone.
Is this a real company or What? And when I ?ed them, why did THEY hang up, LOL!
A man with an accent asked for my husband; I said he wasn't available, "can I help you?"
He said, "Are you his wife?" When I replied, "yes," he asked me if we had any credit card debt.
I promptly replied, "I'm not going to discuss that with you."
He laughed a little and I hung up before the conversation could continue.
Definite scam - claims to be a debt consolidation company (National Debt Bureau - Don't give these people any information - they already have too much (like my home address?)!
After hanging up on them, they repeatedly called me until I tried to tell them they had the wrong number and then the guy got verbally abusive calling me a motherf_____r.
Best advice - don't even answer the first time round.
