Do not, repeat, DO NOT answer any phone call that your caller I.D. shows as a number that you do not recognize. (Especially if it is from an area code other than your own.) If it is a legitimate caller to you and/or your business, they will leave a message and you can get back to them. Block the repeat offender caller numbers if you can, but otherwise, DO NOT answer the call. It's either a scam or a quick hang-up by somebody simply verifying your phone number so they can sell it to another bottom-feeding, scum-sucking pig of a company so that they can call harass you as well. (And don't even think for a minute that the 'Do Not Call' Registry will protect you in any way shape or form.) Protect yourself and DO NOT ANSWER ANY NUMBER THAT YOU DO NOT RECOGNIZE!

I got a call from them last week, and then again today. When "Amanda Thomas" called last week I wondered by the end of the call if it was automated because there was a come-back for anything I said. Then today, when "Amanda Thomas" called again, it didn't matter what I said - literally! - the same automated conversation continued from the other side. Grrrrr! What a waste of time.

This morning when I told them I am dealing with breast cancer and have requested before to remove my number from their list, the person calling (Amanda) asked if she could could count on me for $15. There was a long pause after I answered the phone, but since it was a 216 number (Cleveland) and I'm from that area, I waited to see if anyone was there. Then someone was talking, but it was that weird low scrambled type voice that you hear on tv and movies and stuff when the kidnapper calls for a ransom note, you know? I don't sleep well at night anymore at my age; and I've been retired for some years. I finally get to stay up late and sleep in in the mornings. This stupid woman calls me this morning at 8:15; and I was sound asleep (finally). I wake up usually within 3 hours after falling asleep to make a bothersome trip to the smallest room in the house then go right back to bed. We are on the do not call list. We have asked politely many, many times to be taken off their calling list. Too many ties to count. They continue to call several times a day. We've pressed 9 to be removed, we've talked to a person directly who usually just hangs up on us. I wish I had their home phone number so I could call them 3-4 times a day and disturb them.

It's funny how these company's alway use the term marketing. It's sad they don't do anything to add to the world, they just take. In Life you have to give at some point or It will come back on you with rectal cancer or worst. I hope you have taken up a J O B as the Masked Avenger advised you.

Well Brittany.... Like all morons you are wrong! Survey companies are not exempt. Political non-profits are but general information companies are not. If you worked for this bottom feeder then you are part of the problem and not the cure. You would be more of a benefit to the world if you picked out a corner. Put on a thong. And... well..... you know how to suck don't you?

May 1st, 2013 Brittany FL

I just want to clarify a few things about L & J Holdings. I worked there for several months so I know how it works there.
First, they do not need to follow the Do Not Call list because they are NOT selling anything. It's just a survey to provide you with free information that interests you. Go to www.donotcall.gov, click on More Information, click on Information for Consumers, and read number 28 if you are still unsure.
Secondly, however, if you do not wish to be called again, I stress, POLITELY ask to be put on the company's Do Not Call list, and you will not be contacted again.

Honestly, just take a second to think about it and realize that they probably don't want to be calling you as much as you don't want to be called. Simply say, "Hey, no thanks, please put me on the do not call list," and it's over with. No stress for anyone.

Thank you for reading.

March 26th, 2013 Sparky196001 TX

If you want to stop these idiots, get a call blocking phone. I have seen them at Best Buy and at Radio Shack. I have one and every time
a Telemarketer calls initially I place their number in the call block list. If they try to call back after they are blocked, the phone will
ring once to allow caller id to come through and then hang up. My calls have decreased from about 30 per month to around 1 or 2 per month.
The Do Not Call registry is ineffective, and when they do act, it takes to long. Plus with Obama-nomics probably don't get funded like they

Too funny. The phone number for Edward Dements really is 813-985-3783. I just called him and said I was returning his phone call. He told me he had not made any calls today. I then asked if he was part of L & J Bay Area, which he confirmed. He then said "But this is a private residence you are calling." This is where the Karma kicks in. I told him that I was also called at my private residence, and that he should expect to get several phone calls from me per day so he knows how it feels. i also informed him that his phone number was posted on the internet for anyone else to call him. Happy dialing.

Do you get magazines? Do you HATE the blow-in cards that they all include? I know I do. SO,what I do is to get the information on scumbag organizations like this, and I send them all manner of publications (nothing vile, I have standards)
These mags, and other pubs will honor the information (at least they have in the past) and send the pubs, and bill the "unwilling receipient" causing them to have to go through the hassle of cancelling. Now, if they got oh, say 10,000 of these, could be really time consuming, and a royal pain in the a..!
I used this tactic with that wacko Westboro Babtist Church, you know, the ones who desecrate soldiers' funerals. It apparently had some effect, I saw on a blog somewhere that they were "distressed" by the action.
Ahhhhh, too bad! I know, maybe just as bad as what the MLM a..holes do, but turnabout is fair play.
This guy Dement's address is Edward L.Dement, 1822 Albright Drive, Clearwater, FL, 33765, if anyone is interested. They called me twice this week, the campaign starts today.
BTW, black out the bar code on the cards that have it. THe mags will still honor it, they want the circulation.

Called and asked for someone by name, obviously does not aquire or follow the DNC list. Just another sleazey profiteer gathering marketing information to sell to others for money. Don't answer any questions and stop telling them they have the right person when they call. You are feeding them. Simnply say, "We are on the Do Not Call list, will be filing another complaint, do not call us again.", then hang up. Just a bunch of crooks! Don't rely on the DNC list. It is set up to keep you quiet and not bother the FCC or FTC (your tax dollars at work). You might try a Panasonic wireless phone system. It can block 30 numbers. After the memory is full you can delete the oldest calls. Work pretty well.

I called Mr Edward Dements personal number, 813-985-3783, in the early evening, and get this, he was upset I called his personal number! I mentioned now he knows how I feel every day getting calls from investment companies I am not nor was ever remotely interested in, which he sold my # to.
He did give me a number to call to get my name removed, 813-987-2490, half afraid to call, as one post says that just verifies an active number.

Cary, a survey caller is not ''reneging'' on your DNC registration unless the call is a cover for a sales pitch. If you find the caller deaf to your verbal demands, turn up your volume by Certified Mail. This has all been discussed before in prior comments. The terms YOU AGREED TO when you registered with DNC were not a secret. Here they are again. See items 28 through 32.

September 14th, 2012 Masked Avenger CA

I am laughing at all the dialogue about this company. We found the best way to eliminate these type of spammers is to call the listed telephone service provider and talk with their security people. They do not want the bad PR or potential state action(s) to keep one multi-line customer. So far we have successfully secured 4 removals from Verizon, 2 from AT&T, and 5 from various local small providers in the past 13 months. Simply google the name shown above (Verizon) and contact their security division. It does work and quite effectively. And....... The "termination for cause" follows the spammer forcing them to change names and or methods costing them more money. Just a suggestion............

September 13th, 2012 JJ DC

Next time I get a call from L&J Holdings, I think I'll try to continue these poor college students' education. The ones who have posted here don't seem to know the difference between words like you're (a contraction of "you are"), your (of or relating to you or yourself or yourselves especially as possessor or possessors) and they're (a contraction of "they are"), their (a form of the possessive case of they used as an attributive adjective, before a noun: their home; their rights as citizens; their departure for Rome)and there (At or in that place). Although I learned the meaning of these words in middle school, you must not have hit that class yet, so I beg you to stay in college for another few years.

And, just for the record, life can be hard. I commend you for making a somewhat decent living, but there are other jobs. Everyone has obstacles. When we get these calls, even if they only last a few minutes, they're (they are) interfering with our valuable time, time we won't get back and time we waste being angry over something beyond our control.

Audio engineering is a promising profession that delivers immense chance in film, video clip production, audio broadcasting and advertising. Audio engineers use a selection of recording units these kinds of as higher-tech microphones that are expected to report even the slightest variations of sound.

The standard notion of engineering relates to creating bridges, properties, roads and equivalent variety of work. Most individuals do not imagine of audio engineering as a type of regular engineering. On the other hand, it is a person of the greatest having to pay work opportunities and has numerous thriving people today functioning in the subject.

Audio conferencing has never ever had a know-how champion. The current market leader historically was the lethargic AT&T whose as soon as ground breaking Bell Labs dabbled with internet technologies and then broke apart. The Baby Bells carried on this custom. Therefore, the business has by no means had an innovative advocate. A new breed of entrepreneurial innovators is starting a populist revolution.

J, your ''lame duck congress'' is not your personal nuisance call strike force, and you were given laws to help you many congressional terms ago. At least twice in this thread someone kindly provided mailing addresses for the call center. Confirm and use them. Send a ''cease communication'' notice via USPS Certified with return card. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

Don't fill out the survey. I think they sell the information to other people who will bug you more. Most of the college kids working there don't know that though, so don't be too mean to them.

November 17th, 2011 Jessica IL

They called and hung after I answered the phone. They are calling a business line and should be penalized for harrassment and for being a public menace. When I called them back, the lady who answered was impatient and rude right at the get-go so I told her I had the wrong number instead of wasting my effort and energy on such a sorry case of a human being. If she doesn't like her job, just quit...there's other jobs out there. L & J Holdings may be part of L & D Marketing; both in Tampa, FL. The owner of this place who allows this to happen should have his license taken away.

Thanks so much for the info. I have set my ringer to silent for this number as I do for other callers that ignore the DNC list. My phone lights up but doesn't ring or disturb anyone, me especially. And they do not leave a message.

Most of these "sleazeballs" are college students trying to make a living. All you need to do is fill out the survey that's it. 3 minutes of your time. They aren't trying to sell you anything. Lie if you want to, Just try to think of the person who is calling trying to make a living.

Have you been getting unwanted and harrassing calls from 813-899-1569? Be aware that there system is set up to verify your phone number. When you call back you are prompted to leave a message to be removed from their call list. This verifies your number as active! They then sell your number to other companies or telemarkers who hope to gain your business. Consider that Network Marketing (MLM), and work from home businesses are big these days. Everyone is trying to sell time shares, candles, coins, gold, silver, health supplements, etc. Be aware that these MLM are set up to on personal interactions... cold calling. Now there are many businesses like this that profile you and sell your info to people and business in an attempt to funnel customers to them and one that are interested in those products or serivces.

Let me help you all out as I work for a state agency. The company that has called me and is also harrassing you is...

Now how do you go about finding out about a company? Well it is easy today with computers and the internet! Simply Google the number or if you have any info on the company then that's all you need! Next you need to Google or look up this company and find out what state they are in... if you don't already know. Once you have that, then search that state's Secretary of State (S.O.S.) website. Next you will find a place where you can search for business names, incorporation filings and such. Then click on it and there you go! Be aware that each state's site and info shown maybe different.

Okay so now you have all of this info at your finger tips and IT IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE... so what do you do with it? Good question! You have many options. You can write the company or principle agent a Cease and Desist letter and send it Certified Mail! This is imporant as you want a record! You can also file complaints with the BBB, the Federal Trade Commission, Federal Communication Commission, as well as the Attorney General's office for each state they operate in as well as your home state. You can also contact you local public Prosecutor and have them write a letter to the person(s) or company. Or you can take the info and have a your attorney write them a Cease and Desist letter. If they fail to comply, then sue them!

Don't be sue happy people! When people go over board with legal suits like in the medical field for example, then courts put "caps" or limits on what you are able to obtain. That really hurts those who have a real claim.

Okay, so there you go people! Don't just leave a complaint here that blah blah blah company is calling and harrassing you! TAKE THE NEXT STEP... file complaints on them. When I file a complaint against a company, I flood them. I post their info here as I have doen here and them I file complaints with Angies List, the BBB, FTC, FCC, Attorney General, Chamber of Commerce. When you have lots of people do this, you get action real quick!

I hope this helps everyone!

No real person ever answers the phone. The voice mail offers three options: Dial 301 to speak with Bob or dial 300 for accounts receivable or dial 303 to remove your name from the list. All three extensions only allow you to leave a voice message.

It's ILLEGAL to make all calls and I called back but nobody picks up the phone. It's SCAM and I do NOT care if any information is worth to be sharing. The ISSUE is that it's illegal to bother us all day without being any message to be left which includes the purpose of callings.

Again, I do not care of what is up with that company, but it's bad news!

A pure survey call is not breaking any laws, no matter how much you personally are irritated by one. Now if you want to prove that the caller has an unspoken sales purpose, then you can start crabbing about DNC coverage. It may be more constructive to direct your ire at the call center managers and not its reps, who typically have no control over what the autodialer does, as has been already explained.

July 12th, 2011 Pete Moss IL

According to some reports, these sleaze balls are conducting surveys, which allows them to legally ignore the DNC list. It's still an invasion of privacy and they should respect the DNC list. Obviously folks that do not want calls from telemarketers also do not want calls from survey conductors. Further, since they have your name, they also get a record of your personal information based on your answers if you are a fool enough to participate in the survey. If no one participated, these sleazy businesses would disappear. These types of calls forced me to buy a call blocker which prevents my phones from ringing when the offending number is programmed into the calls blocker. Also it wastes their time by providing ring-back 7 times before disconnecting. It's a shame these types of sleazy business force victims to buy call blockers or get a similar service to stop the annoyances.

It's just disingenuous to think being rude means you'll get even more calls. That's just not a legitimate statement coming from any employee of a legitimate company. It's also just a ridiculous statement to think because they don't see anything they aren't breaking some law. DNC applies to any home phone unless the company has previously had contact that OK's it. Any cold call to any home phone of any type for any reason while on DNC is a violation of the law. They want you to feel sorry because they claim to be college kids, and yet it's part of the scheme to exploit them and make you believe it's all OK.

No excuses.

May 19th, 2011 Student FL

I apologize that everyone is so upset with how the company calls you very frequently. We are doing something pretty innocent, which is asking for a survey. It doesn't cost anything to you, and it helps US, the college students who work there. The more rude people who cuss us out, hang up on us, and blow things in our ear, the more of us that get fired, and it is already hard enough for a college student to find work during and sometimes after graduation. We didn't realize we're calling so often. And for that I apologize. But the surveys help keep a student employed. The survey is not invasive, nor do you have to give out ANY personal information that you don't want.

And if in the end, you don't wanna take it, please be courteous because we are only doing our job. People who are rude to students will continue to get hounded because they'll push the redial button because you were spiteful. But if kind to us as we are to you, And we will do our best to delete your number and put it on the do not call.

Received another call from the dialer: 10000000000, or at least I presume it is still from the L&J dialer. I called and spoke to "Ella" and she said their dialer hasn't called me today, although she's going to check on it. She also is going to be sure my name is removed from the "Supervisor's Database" of numbers which are referred out to investor companies, etc, as I'm still receiving calls from them. Ella is supposed to call me back.

And Yes, it's possible, all of the calls and referrals are originating from another company, although I'm not sure at this point. I'm documenting all of this both for everyone else and myself.

April 19th, 2011 C. Hopkins

For anyone referring back to this string, apparently my number was put back on the call list or never taken off. Once again, I've been receiving calls from people wanting me to invest. So I tried all previously listed numbers to L&J and none worked. I did a search and found one today that did work and spoke with Marvette, who supposedly put my number on their Do Not Call list. Of course I was nice and polite and she was too.

It appears that a current working number is: 813.987.2490

I'll second all that, Linda. I know from years of aliasing my email addresses that the best defense against list compilers and junk hurlers is to become invisble to them. It's much harder to alias a phone number, so I keep a few decoys for untrusted recipients. One of them is a payphone in a shopping plaza some 35 miles from here. Another is a barely active fax number in a mostly neglected facility of a former employer, which would get mostly dumb junk faxes anyway.

At retailer or grocery self-checkouts I always look for a "Whoopsie, I forgot my rewards card" command. Lacking that, I put a decoy number and the store's own address in the application. I've never once missed out on any "special promotions" or "valuable discounts" despite teases to the contrary. Anyway, my privacy is worth far more than a dollar off a carton of soymilk.

RE: How your telephone number gets ‘out there’ and what you can do about it

The best way not to have your telephone number get ‘out there’ is not to give it out.

-- Never do business with an organization that contacts you by telephone. If you do, they’ll add your number to their ‘sucker list’ which they’ll sell to others who canvas by telephone. If you want to do business with an organization that contacts you, do so from their website or contact them directly by phone (you make the call). Even then, avoid giving out your telephone number, especially your cellphone number. (IMHO, the cellphone will become an electronic credit card sooner rather than later so it’s not a number you want to have floating around. I have never given my cell number out and I have never had a spam call on it.)

--Never sign up for raffles or giveaways. In addition to making you inadvertently subscribe to something in the fine print, you can rest assured that they WILL sell your telephone number to other soliciters.

--Never participate in surveys that come to you by phone.

--When you are contacted by a telemarketer or canvasser of any kind ALWAYS ask to be taken off their list.

--Always think twice before providing ANYONE with your contact information. In most cases, they don’t need it; they simply WANT it as a commodity. Just say NO.

--These days, a lot of stores ask for your telephone number so that they can track people who return merchandise. You have the right to say NO. I have yet to have a store refuse to sell me merchandise because I would not give them my telephone number.

--If you find yourself having to provide telephone numbers (some internet forms require one to let you continue), give out a number that you don’t use (like your fax number) or buy a disposable cellphone and consider it to be your ‘electronic trash can.’

April 11th, 2011 Sassy

No none of us know how these telemarketers get ournumbers, but when you are told not to call again and to take your number out of the system you are suppose to do so.The law says they are not suppose to call you again, but they continue to call. I have reported several to the federal government for them to stop the call and the ones I reported have not called anymore.

February 14th, 2011 CurrentEmployee

I have been working for L and J holdings for almost a year. The majority of the staff consists of college students--myself included--due to the center itself being conveniently located 2 minutes from the University of South Florida. The company itself boasts "best part time job" in the area; they offer exclusively part-time work at a very handsome rate to only college students. I'm not sure about the areas that we reach outside of Florida, but in Hillsborough county part-time work at this particular time is extremely scarce. Anyone who has been a starving and struggling student in college can understand the appeal of this sort of business. Students are generally commuting--since USF is a commuter school--and therefore seek the means to provide gas money. At least for myself, I am just trying to pay my excessive tuition fees. I suppose that is neither here nor there... That being said, I can sympathize with everyone's frustration by receiving unwanted phone calls at places of residence or business. I cannot tell you how much it breaks my heart calling so many people that do not wish to be bothered. However, this is the only place that students can find work and it just so happens that the numbers are somehow obtained legally. I don't know all of the details because the system itself leaves the operators very far removed from the technical aspects of the system. We literally sit in our seats and passively wait for the numbers to pour in, having no control over who we call or the details of their phone number. So, considering I will probably be calling one of you in the future, I sincerely apologize. The option you do have is to tell any of the operators that you come across to "please put you on the Do Not Call list", and we simply press a button which inserts you into that registry. We are not looking at a list, we are not dialing numbers, we are not parsing some search engine; as was stated previously, the numbers/names just show up on our screens. I am sorry for those of you who have placed yourselves on the Federal Do Not Call list--we are told that we are able to call these numbers due to the nature of our call being strictly a survey. It is my understanding that the Federal list only applies to those who are selling or asking for donations. Also, it has recently come to my attention that one must update their name on the Federal list every year in order to ensure their placement. As far as businesses, your numbers cannot be on the Federal list. Anyone is allowed to call you. We can take you off of our list, so that at the very least, you will not get a call from us.
Everything that I have told you here is everything I have to offer as an explanation. It never suffices to calm the screaming voices on the phone, so I'm sure hear it offers little to no comfort and I do not know why I bother.

February 11th, 2011 Mike AL

They are calling my office...computer voice says please hold for an agent....then after 45 seconds you are disconnected.
I am on National Do Not Call register...I report this stuff to the FCC and nothing ever happens. These idiots call and then you never even speak to a human to ask them to remove your number....Go Figure.

February 2nd, 2011 Donald

The commentary about how ridiculous it is to have a problem with unsolicted interuptions is a very selfish position. Just because you do not mind answering the phone for anyone who wishes to attempt to discuss anything with you, is certainly your prerogative. But what about the rest of us who find this an irritation? To suggest it is our responsibility to turn-off the unwanted solicitation seems very unjust. How many phone calls each day before you yourself might consider this an issue? One, two, ten, maybe continuous? I am certain even you have a point at which this would not be OK. Why is it that you think you should be the one to decide for everyone else what that threshold should be? It makes so much more sense for people to specifically allow themselves to be solicited for this type of contact. It is for this reason that most email systems employ filters to suppress unwanted soliciation attempts. Who wants to wade through hundreds of emails everyday for some kind of value? And for someone to suggest that being a poor college student makes a difference in this discussion has only undermined their position. Maybe next time you can identify with a minority group and call this discrimination. No sniveling about your situation and how that justifies things. Grow up. Quit bothering people this way. Very unprofessional. Every serious person I know would not engage with you under this type of approach. Bad business strategy and based upon the web-feedback, very negatively perceived.

January 27th, 2011 READ. FL

Have you taken the time to actually question how they got your numbers? Have you asked any of the "dialers" and received an answer?
Well lets see. Obviously L&J got your number from some other company (considering you didn't give it to them) So they shouldn't be the ones solely being attacked.
The reason why L&J calls, is to conduct a brief survey for INVESTORS. They are only looking for people that would like to invest in the companies that they have listed. & the information that they provide is FREE. So they are NOT breaking the DNC lists because they are not selling anything. They're just the "middle man" between investors & the provided companies. Of course some of the people that they contact are NOT investors, mistakes can be made. BUT if you're called & say that you're not interested, then they will hit the "delete" button. If you say that you want to be taken off of the list, they will hit the "do not call" button. But if you dont answer or say either of those things then they will press "redial" because they didn't get an answer to tell them to press anything otherwise.

Anyway... the purpose of this is just to give investors some information & help out the up & coming companies.
& though it is rude to say this: the people that they call are usually business people... who seem to have forgotten anything else in life except for whats benefiting them. & yeah they may be at high places in life with all of their money & well known names.... but they are all missing out on the importance's of life. If you say that they call & waste "precious time of yours" then how is it that YOU have the time to sit here & bash them online? It doesn't make much sense does it?

& one more thing. The people that do work there, are ALL college students, trying to pay their way through school. It's hard to find decent part time jobs & you cant do much until you actually get your major... so until then- this is what is left.
Do you think that college students (who spend 80% of their time in school & studying... away from home & family) like to be yelled at constantly on the phone?
the answer: NO...... but for students like me... who have a busy schedule... this is the ONLY place that offer the hours I have available. And for the few kind people that answer- thank you.

*but guys, seriously... its just a phone call. Look around at your family that is still alive & healthy... your businesses that are up & thriving... & then does a marketing phone call really mean all that much?
There are real people on the other end of the phone. LIVING- just like you.

January 25th, 2011 C. Hopkins

All, I've continued to receive calls, although NOT from this company or any my number has been sold to...at least not directly. When people call me I politely ask where they got my number/name and they have generally told me. I've then contacted that company and asked to be removed from their list. I spoke to the owner and he said my info would be removed today and agreed to not sell it, give it away, etc, too...so it should help the calls to slow.

This second company told me that since my number is a business, that vendors, companies, etc, can find my name number in the yellow pages/online too, other sellers of info, Dun & Bradstreet, etc. The calls may never stop completely, but being patient and diligent, I'm hoping to reduce the number of calls. My lesson, never do any phone surveys and never buy anything over the phone when someone calls you. Good Luck!

Ok, after I spoke to "Sarah" on 1 Dec 2010 (see below), I slowly stopped receiving calls and then recently they've started picking back up...of course not happy about that. I called again and spoke to "Sarah" and she said that I am out of the Dialer and that she does not have access to the "Survey Database", which also contains my/our numbers. So she is going to ask the woman that has access to it to ensure I've been removed and will then call me back. She is a very nice girl and I'm very polite to her as well and as a result she's nice back. Try calling the number listed to have your name/number removed from both places.

One thing she said was that apparently in the past some employees have taken/stolen the numbers from the database and likely resold them, so it's possible that the referrals are coming from a different source, although they attempted to put a stop to that kind of thing happening by limiting who has access to that database. This is what I'm being told, hopefully this hasn't happened in the recent past.

Can I give all you ignornat people some advice... Im pretty sure if someone from L&J calls you and your either not interested or would like to be put on their DNC list and were polite about it, they would kindly put you on their DNC list. But if your rude, disrespectful, use foul language and threats they will just put you on their redial list to piss you off. Be adults ( like you claim to be). Ive read comments saying the staff at L&J were rude.. Im pretty sure if YOUR parents heard they way YOUR talking, your asses would be grass.& im pretty sure none of you have enough balls to say the things you say if they were talking to you in person. Use common sense, if you dont answer and tell them your not interested, their going to keep calling. Dont get pissed off at them for constantly calling when your the one who doesnt tell them to stop. Another thing to think about is when your put on the redial list, those files dont get used again for 7-10 days. So the ones claming to get calls from L&J 3,4,5 times a day are being a bit dramatic. I know the owners personally and what their doing is not wrong by any means. Their simply offering YOU a chance to make some money. So if your not interested or what them to stop calling.. PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE AND SAY SO. IF YOUR POLITE ABOUT IT, ITLL GET DONE!!! THeir just trying to make a living just like you all are.

And for those who are comparing L&J employees to Nazi's, you obviously dont know your history very well. Were not being Brainwashed and forced to kill people and put them into concentraion camps. So again grow up.

If you all need the Number to be taken off the list its, 8139885941. & BE POLITE!!!!!!

I wrote to L & J Bay Area via their website requesting that they not call me anymore and just received another call. Edward L. Dement, Sr. is shown to be a contact for L & J.

Nice College Student from USF - just started calling.
Hate my job.

December 1st, 2010 C. Hopkins Germany

Ok...I've still been getting calls, although supposedly not from L&J directly. When I called almost a month ago, the guy I spoke with supposedly removed me from their system, although I didn't know that they have at least two systems, the "Dialer", which when I called again today, apparently I was not in any longer.

Apparently, the guy did NOT remove me from their "Database" which is where numbers are still provided to their clients. The person I spoke with today "Sarah" said she would remove me from their Database right then and that should remove me from receiving any calls in the future, since I had already been removed from their "Dialer".

Of course, if the number has already been given out to some clients, I may still receive calls for some period of time. She suggested that I ask each of their clients that call me to remove me from their lists too. I've been doing that and most are very nice about it. Again, I'm hoping that this will resolve the issue, although I also know that it will likely take time between the time my number is not given out (today) until those clients that have the number no longer call.

It would not surprise me if some of those clients don't turn around and sell my number to others, although I'm hoping not.

Bottom-line, when you call L&J, make sure they are removing you from both the "Dialer" and the "Database".

If I keep getting calls after the next month, I'll call back again to ask and request again.

Hope that helps others and for my number...we'll see.

Good Luck!

Annoying calls all times of the day. Will NOT stop calling even though we've requested to be taken off of no-call list.

November 4th, 2010 C. Hopkins

I called the number, 813.988.5941, listed by "Employee" from 2010-06-01, someone answered L&J, I told him I was on their list and that I'd like to be removed. He very nicely and pleasantly asked which number was being called, which I gave to him and he said that my number would be removed today from their computer system and that I would no longer receive calls from anyone who they sell my number to for lead generation after today. The guy was very nice, pleasant and accomodating...no problem...at least I think so...that is assuming my number is really removed.

Of course that doesn't mean that those companies who already have/bought my number can't also sell my number too...they might, or they might call again. But in most cases, I've been nice and asked those other companies to remove me from their list and they do.

I know that most of us don't like to receive these calls, although if we can be pleasant, most people will be the same back to us...at least that's my experience.

Anyway, I'm hopeful that this will at least reduce the number of calls that I receive if not eliminate them.

Many thanks to "Employee" from 2010-06-01, your assistance is greatly appreciated...as well as several others who posted here. Thanks and Good Luck!

they call my business at least once a week. I believe they are a company called merchant service. they offer visa Master card services to business's. If this is them, don't use them. they raise their rates once you start with them.

I used to work at L and J Holdings for a short period of time. The best way to get off the calling list is to ask the person who called you to put you on the no call list (apparently they have a different DNC list because they conduct surveys and not technically selling anything? I never really knew the specifics but heard people say that was why) the only way you'll get called after that is if the person who called you accidently pressed the wrong button-like pressing redial or delete instead of Do Not Call. Its a hectic place to work so mistakes do happen and people might press the wrong button instead of the Do Not Call one, but thats the best way to not get called back.

I just got off of the phone with these idiots. I am running a business here and I don't have time to keep answering a phone that the stupid people hang up when you say anything. I am not paying people to waste time here. I called 813-988-5941 and asked them to take me off of their calling list. I left the fax number with them because they can get that annoying sound when they call that one and it doesn't ring in the offices. Hope the lossers go out of business.

September 9th, 2010 Some Advice NC

Hey folks, I took some advice that was given on this website a few months back. My answering machine got fried during an electrical storm and instead of replacing it, I remembered someone had advised to unplug your machine and see what happens. I decided to keep a log of these annoying repeat calls and was truly surprised, after a month, the calls pretty much stopped. I guess when an answering machine picks up, it legitimizes your phone number and the calls continue. Of course, the constant ringing is down right maddening and family and friends get annoyed (let them know beforehand what you are going to do and have them call your cell) but in the end, no more calls. Of course, I don't know what will happen a few months down the road, I will handle that when it comes, but at least for now my phone is virtually silent and if I decide to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon, blissful sleep. It worked for me and I hope it works for you !!

I just had a conversation with L&J. My first question for them was "Why do you F***Faces keep calling me?" They became agitated, and told me they were recording the phone call and told me how "mature" I was being. I kept them on the phone and told them I was reporting them to the donotcall.gov site. They were indifferent. I asked if they were doing their mother proud being such a "sleazy sh**face." They told me they were removing my numbers from their list. I told them they should remove themselves from the planet because they are such a "positive contribution" to society.

I am actually appalled at how many people that post on here are so spiteful. You are just as rude as you say WE are. If you're life is so uneventful that you feel the need to trash the people working on the other end of the line, then you are pretty pathetic. As some people have said below, 99.9% of the people working there are college kids...probably no older than 20 or 21. We're sorry that we need to find a way to make a living and support ourselves in college. Will we work at this place forever? No. Is it a way to get by? Yes. I'm sure every single one of you middle aged folks have had a crappy job in your life time...well, this is ours. Do yourselves and us a favor and don't get so worked up over everything.

Wow, 3,000 new leads per month! Sure, ask not to be called again. You're now on their lead list they sell to others.
Those commenting that they are nice people, I think they work for the a-holes. College kids, you know, too stupid to know that what they are doing is annoying and unlawful.

@Becky - report them to the FCC. Wanting to do a survey - they are surveying you just by calling. Know your name, phone, time to call, that your husband lives there. Please report back on all the new calls you get from other marketers.

August 18th, 2010 learn-something TN

Just got that call, but I am also near a computer so I saw that it was a marketing company from out of state, and I never answer them. Here's something I learned recently: These computer calls, that hang up when you answer, are actually part of the marketing strategy. Their computer is logging when their call is answered, so that the company knows the best time to call where someone will actually answer. So, if you answer, you have just told them the best time to get a person on the phone at your number. Eventually, one of their sales people will call at that time. Also, now that their computer has logged the information about your phone answering habits, they can sell the information to others. Your choice? Get an expensive lawyer, or USE CALLER ID.

August 10th, 2010 PissedOff TX

These idiots just won't quit.
I frankly do not understand the attitude of the schmucks that work for these irritating, intrusive home invaders. They would be handed their teeth if they physically came to a person's home and shot the same line of BS they spout on the telephone. I am as rude as I can possibly be when I make contact with a telemarketer. I insult, belittle, curse him/her, their parentage and generally villify the person, their employer and the the job. If all of you did the same, no one would work for the companies that pester you. CHEW 'EM OUT! MAKE THEM FEEL SUB-HUMAN! Hell, they are. The ear drum rupturing air horn mentioned by GET REVENGE is also great and another method I use. Make them miserable and they will go away. Another beef is the idiot employees of these asses that suggest you politely ask to be taken off their calling list. Most of us have already registered with the national no call and our state's no call ists and have no reason or obligation to do anthing other than report the call to the Federal Trade Commission.

July 28th, 2010 Office UT

addendum to my previous message.

To Employee, you are INCORRECT is stating that they obtained this number legally. We (a two person office) NEVER give the office number for any contests, we do not have a credit card nor any other way for them to get out number except the phone book. We are on the DO NOT CALL list. We will never answer your calls NOR ever do business with you. You are calling us illegally and we will report you and we will also provide your name to the BBB. So think about it the next time you decide to take that dicey job.

July 28th, 2010 Office UT

We are on Do Not Call List. We NEVER associate with telemarketers. When will they figure that out?

July 23rd, 2010 bored GA

I worked for this company as a college student. And I have to say that it isn't unethical and it pays a whole lot better than any other job around ($10 an hour). Out of the hundreds of callers I never got anyone who could confidently say they had never made an investment, never had a credit card, or ever bought commercial real estate or other similar things. The company doesn't use a random phone book to call people--they buy phone numbers from credit card companies and investment agencies. So if you are that irritated don't give your phone number out to anyone you don't want to have it. Having a rude and arrogant attitude isn't any better than someone taking two seconds of your tv time to offer you some investment opportunities. And if you ask them to take you off their calling list then they will do it in a heartbeat--believe me we don't want to talk to you anymore than you want to talk to us.

Called the registered agent listed below at home phone. He asked why I was calling and I told him that since the company was calling and bothering me and he was the registered agent for the company I just thought I'd call and bother him. He asked for my numbers and i gave it to him. He said he'd try to get them to stop calling me. He said that the number I called was his private residence and I said no problem and if they continued to call me I'd have no problem calling him more.

June 24th, 2010 GET REVENGE

Just for fun, if you are working or living in an environment that you could do this in, answer the phone whenever a suspected telemarketer is on the line. If you hear a real human voice and they start their shpeel, hold a gas charged air-horn to the phone & blast them for a second or two! You can get them from amazon.com for as little as $7.00 for the 1.4oz can or under $30.00 for the 8oz which will last a very long time if used in short bursts. Refill 8oz cans are about $16.00. Free Shipping often available on orders over $25.00!

Even if it's a recording, wait and see if a human takes over the call or if there is an option for them to start recording you, then blast them!

Don't get mad, GET REVENGE!

June 18th, 2010 b TX

To the college student: first, thanks for the courage to speak up.

Second, could I offer you a job mugging people?

The fact that its a job doesn't make it an ethical job. The legality
of calling people to see if they want to get a call from a telemarketer
and yet thats somehow not telemarketing is iffy at best.
It certainly isn't honest, which is why everyone you talk to is angry.
If this was an honest activity, it would pay attention to the do not call registry.
Since the whole point of the business is to sidestep the do not call laws,
that makes it an illegal activity. It isn't lawful to do an activity
to sidestep the law, thats conspiracy to circumvent the law.

So, go find a job where the people you deal with are happy that you provided them
service. Thats the test of a worthwhile job, not whether or not you get arrested for it.

June 4th, 2010 Smelly B Hind TX

Called by a machine which said please wait for the next available operator and after a few minutes I was hung up on.

June 3rd, 2010 Claire PA

I answered the phone with a cordial greeting. Without so much as a 'hello,' the caller asked if my husband (by name) was here. Since I'm not in the habit of telling strange callers that I'm home alone, I asked her name and where she was calling from. She only responded "Amber." When I asked for her last name, she responded with my husband's name. I asked her again, and she said "I don't see the point in telling you my last name." With that, I told her "then I don't see the point in continuing this conversation" and hung up. When I looked at the ID and tried calling back (out of curiousity), no one answered after about 20 rings.

June 3rd, 2010 patrick LA

annoying. they don't answer any call back numbers.

June 1st, 2010 employee FL

Ok people...I understand that you are aggravated that L&J calls you.. however as a college student in a poor economy, you do the work that is available.

For all of you who don't answer the calls or just hang up on them, you are doing yourself a disservice. They will continue to call you unless you pick up and say you want them to remove you from the call list. No need to be rash or rude, just say you'd like to be removed the call list, they will do so no question's asked. If you happen to get dead air (which happens a lot, i don't know why...) call them at this number (813) 988-5941 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting (813) 988-5941 end_of_the_skype_highlighting and ask them to remove you.

Sorry we called you, but we were just doing our job as you do yours. It doesn't make us horrible people...it was just our job.

L&J conducts surveys, they do NOT directly sell you anything. Therefore they do NOT have to screen against the DNC because by LAW the DNC does NOT apply to surveyors. Call it a loop hole or what have you...either way...they are NOT breaking the law in any way.

So...reporting them to the attorney general won't do anything because they haven't broken any law. Hanging up on them won't do anything, they'll just recycle the # into the redial list. Just pick up, say you'd like to be removed from the call list and that's it.

Dunn & Bradstrett and INFO USA...that's where they get their numbers and info from. YOU must have at some point provided your information to a company who then sold it to a third party (dunn & bradstreet or info usa) who then turned around and sold your information. This could occur at a variety of locations (at the mall for those car give-a-ways...the possibilities are endless). It is NOT L&J's fault that your information is for sale nor are they at fault for buying it. You put your info into the public at some point. They DO sometimes get really old information and happen to call for deceased people or old businesses or people who no longer work at certain places, for that I am sorry.

Anyway....I hope this helps some of you to stop being called if you don't wish to be (and if you've posted on here you probably DON'T want to be)....have a great day...

May 14th, 2010 Roger B UT

Received a call today at 1:13pm Eastern Time. EVERYBODY, if you're on the National Do Not Call list -- please go to www.donotcall.gov and make a complaint! When enough of us file complaints they will be fined!

May 12th, 2010 Russ

OK, so the guy below says this company is not doing anything illegal, and that's technically correct. However - what I have never understood - is why these companies cannot realize that if I went to the trouble to add my number to the DNC list, this probably means I DON"T WANT CALLS FROM ANYBODY!!!! Just because you're taking surveys, or are a charity, or whatever - that's just hiding behind the loophole in the DNC law. USE COMMON SENSE, and realize I listed my number on the DNC for a reason! From a strictly business point of view, you have to realize that numbers on the DNC are probably going to be your least productive calls, usually a complete waste of time. SO STOP WASITNG MY TIME AND YOURS! Scrub your lists against the DNC, and everyone will be a lot better off.

May 6th, 2010 Marj CA

Same message - they've called twice and when I answer they hang up. What information can they glean?

April 29th, 2010 WAL

Robo-call then a person comes on the line when you answer. When the person they asked for wasn't in, they hung up when I asked who was calling. I called the number back and got into their voice mail. The selection (1) to have our number removed from their call list said their voice mail was full.
