Fifth time now!! Answered phone this time and promptly got disconnected!!
A decent sounding guy who said he represented a cause helping homeless veterans get off the streets in Michigan. He didn't ask for a credit card number. He said he would mail information.
Cripe!
The 4th time I've posted this number and will be the 4th time I've reported it!! :(
Didn't get to phone in time to answer. Voice mail picked up. No message left.
My voice mail picked up on this call, but they left no message. Just silence.
Must've been a pre-recorded message as nothing came across my voice mail. It must not have been loud or long enough to activate the messge.
Sorry, Lynn. The DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of "telemarketing". This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.
However, much of the charity phone bank work is farmed out to so-called "commercial fundraisers", which don't quite get the same blanket exemption. The FTC says: "... if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000."
Often these charity callers claiming to be first responders or representing them are frauds, doubling the problem.
being on the no call list doesn't help- I have had more calls since being on it. So now I have to complain to
the FTC everytime I get an unwanted call. Gosh that takes more of my time than. And the cops that call say it doesn't mean them, they are allowed to ask for money.
These calls should not be allowed- people don't want to be bothered

Got another call from this #, said they're collecting $$ for war veterans with PTSD in Michigan.
