How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Verizon wireless. Wasting my time. Calls my phone 3 times in a couple of hours. No message. No caller I.D. Had to look up on this site.
I have a job that makes phone calls a real problem. I have a cell so family can get me in AN EMERGENCY! Hello??? I don't need Verizon calling me to let me know my bill is due. Especially when you consider that there are so many bogus and even illegal charges on virtually every cell carrier's (and land line carriers) billing statements. Verizon! Are you listening? Stop bugging me! I can just quit your service you know. Every convenience store has prepaid cells. We don't need you. Assholes!
none
SCAM!!! Claims to be Verizon wireless. Calling private home number. Every time they say we must pay $1200 THAT DAY or service will be terminated. Verizon said nothing is owed.

SCAMMERS SPOOFING verizon wireless CNAM
BEWARE
BEWARE
BEWARE
These are scammers perpetrading fraud!
This caller is SPOOFING the CNAM of verizon wireless. This is NOT a verizon wireless number.
outbound calls are robotically initiated
dialing into 9492863311 is IVR
the robot dumps the call on voicemail/answering machine
BLACKLISTED
report them to ftc.gov
I just received a call from this number, they hung up when I answered. So I checked this website and didn't really see much to go on other than it's verizon. I don't have verizon service. So, I called them, put in my number and got to an agent. I told her I had just received calls, but do not have verizon service. It appears that a number was transposed on someone's business account so they were calling my number on accident. She fixed it and said they were sorry for the mix-up. Easy enough.
verizion billing for wireless
plase tlak to her or him i dont know that peolpe
This number has been calling my verizon wireless phone for 3 days, never leaving a message, I do not answer a number I do not know so I let it call and call then I looked up the number before findiing this site. Found tht it was a unlisted number from CA. So I called it back, and It answed as Verizonwireless, so I went as far as plese enter your password, then my husband from the other room yelling; its a scam, hang up!!! so now im scared that maby they now have my password. Be Very Careful you never know who is on the other line!!!
Leon: I think you've ranted elsewhere about callers ignoring a DNC disclaimer or notice in your recorder greeting. I used to have greeting language like that too, which did little good when so many companies deploy automatic dialers. To get such a notice acknowledged a human call center rep needs to hear it, which just won't happen at a large firm.
I made better luck with a slick screener device I had placed before all other phone devices. It first sends a "dead end" tone in case the caller is a sequential dialer bot, then plays a user-set greeting which cycles a few times before disconnecting. The tricky bit is the caller must press a specified key within that time limit to get your attention. Otherwise your phone never rings and your recorder never starts. Essentially it's a telephone Turing Test, much like the Captcha system online. Better still, you can set the thing to deliver three different ring patterns based on the caller's response.
That gadget gave me years of peace before (most) robo-calls became illegal a year ago. It's tougher to use now that some legitimate callers such as for emergency and disaster warning bulletins are automated. But if your main gripe is that you only want humans calling, this is one potential tool. I will submit the name as a consumer and not an investor: It's the Screen Machine, made by Spectrum Research. Looks to be discontinued now. Its list price was $60 but street price was always far less.
In case no one here knows it. The use of automated calling systems for the purposes of collecting debts is ILLEGAL by ommission! The fact that the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act states that a debt collector must identify themselves, who they are trying to reach, and be ready to answer specific questions from the person they have called summarily and permanently removes the right to use an automated dialer to call numbers in an attempt to collect a debt. That means EVERY CALL no matter if it is to a true debtor to Verizon Wireless or to a non-customer is an ILLEGAL CALL! Know your rights folks! Every violation of the FDCPA laws rates about a $1,000 fine. Some violations rate as much as $5,000 or even more. The point is.. For violation of the law they can and should loose far more than they gain by doing so. And at present, until the updated version of the FDCPA is affirmed and released, the maximum fine for the violations of the rights of ONE customer is capped at something like $16,000... How many of you paid $16,000 for your cell phone and service???
This caller, who ever they are, and who ever they are trying to reach, is pretty damn lazy. And by all accounts disrespectful of the persons they are calling. No matter who they are. They need to leave a proper message when they get an answering machine. If it is in deed Verizon Wireless they are not only being unprofessional and disrespectful of the victims of their calls. They are also failing to fulfil the minimum requirements for a bonified attempt to contact which is required under the law if they are trying to collect debts. They are also in violation of the "Making of a worthless call" and "Causing a phone to ring" guidelines of the FDCPA. That means for every call they make, even to the wrong contact number, they are subject to at least $2,000 in fines for each call. That alone is a very DUMB move when trying to collect the pitance of the average monthly cell phone bill. Then there is the matter of calling trying to sell services to non-customers which has been complained about here. If your number, like mine, is registered on the National Do Not Call Registry they are then in violation of the DO NOT CALL laws. Especially when they call someone like me who does not have or use their service and then have the rudeness of hanging up after my answering machine message states that my number is registered on the do not call list only to call back minutes to a couple of hours later to repeat their unprofessional actions. So.. For those of you who support this caller try telling them to clean up their act! Tell them to start leaving messages so that the person they call knows who and why they are calling and a proper return call number so that person if needed can call them back. Otherwise they will be facing thousands of dollars in fines for their violations of law and for trampling our simple rights under the laws of torts.. Look that one up and learn what your REAL rights are folks!!!!
Oh.. Did I forget to mention.. This caller has been calling me ON MY HOME PHONE!!! An UNLISTED AND UNPUBLISHED PHONE NUMBER! It should also be noted..... THEY HAVE NOT LEFT ANY MESSAGE ON ANY OF THE THREE CALLS THEY MADE TO ME TODAY! So. I don't even know, nor do they, if they even have the correct phone number for whoever they are actually trying to call.... One more way to deal with SCAMMERS!
Can anyone tell me why and how Jod posted the exact same message THE ANSWER IS !!! on 2008-01-16020:13:24 UTC as Barrry posted on 2008-05-21 20:33:52 UTC? Could this be further indications that this number is Verizon Impersonators involved in SCAMMING US? Here is another clue! This caller has called me THREE TIMES TODAY AND I DO NOT HAVE VERIZON CELLULAR SERVICES! Also. My answering machine states that my number has been registered on the National Do Not Call List for well over a year which means that under federal law this caller is required to stop calling my number since the only option it can be is them trying to sell me a service which is SOLICITATION!
Well... It is definately some sort of scam if they are calling people who DON'T EVEN HAVE Verizon service! And as far as knowing who you owe and how much is very easy for anyone to find out. Something to do with public records and failures of companies like Verizon to comply with the OPT OUT documents most folks fill out saying DO NOT SHARE my information with anyone. And just ask any collection agency out there. You will find that they have tools specifically designed for finding over due bill holders so they can solicit the creditors business to come and collect your bill. Come on folks! How much brains does it really take to realize that the FDCPA does state that making useless and repeating calls is an illegal action.. Most states also have Unfair practices laws that also cover these kinds of calls. It is up to YOU to protect yourself and your financial information. You can not trust your creditors to protect it because they make money sharing it!
I have a feeling that whoever this caller is has spies watching sites like this. Funny to me that there is an affirmative message that this is a Verizon owned number when Verizon denies it repeatedly and that leads this question.. Who are you really Cinimod Adarp? Are you a spy for this phishing scam or are you just that stupid?
this is from verizon wireless financial. It is an automated system and does not leave any messages. Do not give it any info. I went online and checked my account and it is fine. Some type of a scam, not really sure what they are fishing for.
This number showed up twice today on my caller id. Seems that they, whoever they are, do not really want to speak to anyone they call since they failed to leave any form of legitamate message on my answering machine. And for the sake of clarity I have found that some Verizon users show up as Verizon Wireless on caller ids just because they are using Verizon's cellular service. We used to show up as Verizon Wireless when we would call someone, especially outside our area code, which made people including family think we where solicitors until they recognized our numbers. We are so glad to be away from Verizon! We left them back in June because of their crappy customer service as well as poor cellular services! Can you hear me NOW VERIZON???
This # calls my cell constantly and without leaving a message, no automated service NOTHING! When i do answer without saying anything the person on the other line doesn't even attempt to say anything. I haven't even tried calling the # back but i do need to figure out how to block this number ASAP! It's RIDICULOUSLY ANNOYING!
It is definitely a scam chelsey. Forget any comment below that says it's real. IT'S NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i mean beacus i live in WASHINGTON!
just got a call from this number.. is it really a person, or a solisiter?
Where do you spend your nights.... I'd love to get the owner of this # 949-286-3311 and show him my tolerance level.
They called my cell twice today without leaving a message. Just called the number back and got an automated "Welcome to Verizon Wireless" greeting. They can simply send reminder texts instead of calling without leaving messages. By the way, my bill's not overdue, so WTF Verizon?
I checked with Verizon about this number and they said it is not one of theirs - their prefix is 888 or 900
They called me twice and both times they actually spoke to me. S/He (1st it was a lady and 2nd time it was a man) claimed they were with Verizon and told me that my bills for last 3months were over due (Of Course these were not). And demanded to make a payment over the phone and WANTED MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!! I'm so sure that they are some stupid scam artists. For 2nd time, I just told him "Nice try, baby" and hung up.
When you call the number back it states "Welcome to Financial Services, Please enter your billing pass code"
Everyone here should put their number on the National Do Not Call Registry. After 31 days you can start filing complaints against this number. The more complaints they get from different people the faster they will so something about. I would get calls from some number in another country and I filed probably 10 complaints and the calls stopped for good. donotcall.gov
I have received several calls from this number and have verified that is is a scam from people pretending to be Verizon customer service. They will ask you for your personal information so do not give them anything. If the real Verizon calls you it will say so on the caller ID and the call will be free.
Darn number keeeps callin, guess its verizon, but no message....and my bills paid up, Verizon has had billing errors almost every month,....maybe I need an iPhone with AT&T after all !!!
This number has been calling my daughter's phone all week. She kept telling them that she was a minor, and to stop calling her. They told her they were looking for me, and that this was the only number they had for me. They badgered her into taking the # down to have me call them. I've never listed her cell # with anyone, and if it were Verizon, then they knew which # was mine anyway...it's the main one on the account of three. I think it's a scam, especially since they kept hounding her & talking with her even AFTER she stated that she was a minor.
got the phone call after just 5 days past due. i'm thinking of switching to a different carrier, just for that reason.
This is a phishing scam
it is Verizon Wireless financial services - why they call is another matter entirely! Don't owe them a penny
i'm usually late on my payments & this number calls me regularly. it is unquestionably verizon wireless & i pay my bill thru this number when they call in order to keep my phone service working.
I think is a fax # for solicititation business if I were to guess. I get crap from business once in a while and when i called i got the fax tone????
Called my cell phone. No message left on voicemail.
Call my phone several times a day...leave no message...have no idea who this is...computers gone awry??
This number keeps calling my cell and not leaving a message. It's really pissing me off!
I don't pick up numbers I don't know, and this one was no exception. Got two calls from them today 3/30/10, neither time did they leave a message. If they have something to tell me they can leave a message! Who is this?
they just wanted to remind me to pay phone bill before they disconnect the phones
I am 2 days behind my verizon bill payment, and they called me twice already in one day.
Just because they say they're from Verizon doesn't mean they are from Verizon. I suggest you read Anthony's comments.
keeps calling my son's phone - he is a MINOR - and his phone is for emergency purposes only
These assholes suck
I looked at a couple different websites and people who called Verizon to check said Verizon told them it is someone using their name, but isn't Verizon. don't call the number or give them any information!
Continually receive calls from this number with no respect to TIME restrictions. Whether it is Verizon or NOT, Machs Nicht.
Elizabeth Escobar.... collection scumbag... low life W H O R E. She is probably sleeping w your husband like she is mine. 714-470-1317 call HER CELL
Verizon or not...with VIOP phones you can be whatever number you want to be. Please dont give sensitive information to incoming phone callers. ALWAYS, always, alwaysuse the institution (phone/bank/utility/ect) phone number provided on a paper invoice.
This sort of scam increases when unemployment is high -:)
These dumb#ucks are as ignorant as ignorant gets. They are calling from "Verizon Wireless Financial Services. They are attempting to remind everyone of payment due. Well NO S#HIT! DO WE NEED THESE A$$#HOLES TO REMIND US WHEN TO PAY OUR BILL EVERY MONTH? NOT AT ALL! THEY WILL CALL AND CALL AND CALL EVEN WHEN IT HAS BEEN PAID! SCREAM AND YELL AT THEM AND THEY WILL STILL CALL REPEATEDLY AS IF THEY WHERE A COLLECTION AGENCY. MAKES YOU WANT TO CHANGE SERVICES! VERIZON SUCKS!
Keeps calling my DH's phone. The really strange thing is that we have not ever had Verizon Wireless and when I give them my cell phone number they are calling it doesn't bring anything up in their system. So they/we aren't really sure why they are calling...
It's Verizon Wireless Financial Services Dept. phone number.
This number keeps calling over and over 2 days in a row now, no message just getting really annoying
I do not do business with Verizon, yet that number 949-286-3311 called me on my cell phone. smells fishy
They have called a few times and I have not answered. I called the number back and it wasn't a working number. Right after they call from this number and I don't answer, I get another call that says "unavailable." No message from them either.
I don't have Verizon, I have AT&T.
called the number back... said it is not a working number.. even though I answered it, and someone on the other end kept trying to hang up. Called back.. got a sing song "the number you dialed is not a working number.."
They keep call me and show phone number is 949-286-3311, Who is this?
It seems to really be Verizon, but it's a stupid robot operation. They called about money I really owed, but it was not past due because I had paid the full amount on the last bill they sent.
WARNING # 1 : Even if they have accurate information, don't give credit card info to someone like this. It's much safer to pay with your usual methods.
I think they dial automatically and a human comes on the line only when the call is answered. The "hangups" may happen when their call center semi-humans don't react in time.
The other comments on this site make me suspect the droids sometimes have wrong or obsolete information.
(Warning #2: It's unlikely but conceivable that the same number is also used for scams.)
it is verizion- "Parinoia will destroy ya",, It is the Verizion Financial Dept, Pay your late bill you losers!!!
Just like me, income cut in half and the bills are up up up and way---- Obama Obama Obaaaammmmmaaaaaa, What a mess we are in,
def not a scam... i have been waiting for a call from verizon to tell me bill past due. They called my VZW phone and left a message. Didn't answer this number because i didn't recognize it, but came here to look it up. Who else would know my bill is past due? Gotta love all the paranoia. Yes there are scams out there, be smart people, not EVERY ONE is trying to scam you, some people/companies make legitimate mistakes. Why don't YOU try keeping the records of all their customers straight, when half the time they probably can't even read the hand writing on the application, or the applicant doesn't know their own phone number by heart (us single people don't call home often enough to memorize it). Give them a break.
I got called. It was a nice reminder that my bill was past due. Nothing to see here. Move along. No scams.
Lyn...you are a lying biotch....this is a SCAM! There is no harm in calling the number back and giving the person on the other end a hard time....of course, you may want to change your number after that.
not sure who this is but they ask for someone i don't even no i think it's a scam i have been a verizon customer for 10 years don't believe it is them!

didn't pick up, no message.
I did not pick up and no one left a message.
My foreman just go a call from this number.
The number that they call from is 949-286-3311 and if they have to leave a message on your voicemail, they will ask you to call back the following number: 1800-267-4016 .
I called Verizon customer service number that is on my bill at (866) 396-3999. and they confirmed that they have no record in ANY of their systems for either of the above listed numbers. And that if i call from Verizon had gone out to my foremans phone, that it would have a date and time stanp in the records and there was none.
After confirmein all this, I was transfered over to the fraud department so that they could further investigate.
This was a call from Verizon Wireless letting me know that I'm eligible for a cell phone upgrade. I have this account for my two kids to share. One of them just replaced her phone, and it is time that the other one would be eligible, so this is a legitimate call.
It's a phishing scam of some sort run by some douche bags. They are not verizon.
Verizon Wireless... bill past due
Go to donotcall.gov and file a complaint, it is quick and will stop the calls.
the message says you have reached "Financial Services" and requests that you enter your social security number - obviously a scam. They have called twice.
Unknown caller, didn't leave message, for the record...
Mm
THE ANSWER IS !!!! This is a legitimate call from Verizon Financial Services. I received a similar call and spent considerable time with a Verizon Cust Service Rep who did a BRILLIANT JOB of sorting it out. The phone calls are computer generated -- therefore multiple calls and often hangups since they take the next call in the queue. That answers the hangups --- rightly or wrongly. The caller ID on the phone is legit and is what they use for outgoing calls. The reason they call is one of the following. You owe them. They have your phone number attached to someone who owes them. If you don't owe them, tell them to search your phone number and take your number off the account of the person who owes them. ---- They had my home phone number on someone elses account. They removed it and the calls stopped. Hope this answers everyones questions.
I didn't answer and no message was left. I'm not a Verizon customer, so don't know why they'd be trying to call me anyway.
They called me on my cell phone, but it said "California." Of course, I didn't answer because I didn't know who it was. When I called back, it was Verizon Financial Services. My bill was past due.
identified as douglas and brown sevices was a man claiming i need to address an acount. if this is verizon---i will cancel my acount. this is not how you treat people.
Thanks to JAKE for posting the 800 number to complain to Verizon.... maybe when I feel that I have enough patience and time I'll call.
We get repeated calls from this number. No one is there when we answer and no message is left if we let it ring to the answering machine. Our caller ID states it is Verizon Wireless but we do not subscribe to their service so have assumed it might be sales related OR they are confused on who their customers are. Either way, we haven't actually talked to anyone or received any messages.
I have received about 30 messages from this #. I just called Vorizon to complain. If enough people call, they should look into it. 800-922-0204
STOP calling me.
These guys didn't even call me on my Verizon phone-- must be spamvertising of some kind hoping to pick off unsuspecting Verizon customers...
This number called me two days in a row, both times I was away from my phone. The message that they left was the same both times " Please continue to hold, a representative will be with you shortly." Then it just disconnects....if it was verizon, why dont they leave a legit message from a human and not a recording?....
Beginning of message was clipped by machine, said callback number (sounded like telemarketing sales) was 866-566-8332.
This is Verizon Wireless claiming to be collecting on past due accounts, but I can not get them to stop calling my home! Each time they call, they ask for a different person. Not only do I not know the person they are asking for, but I do not have an account with Verizon Wireless. When I speak with a supervisor, they indicate our number will be removed. A couple of days will go by and I start getting calls again.
What can I do? I am willing to take action, but I do not know where to start. I have contacted the FCC, but I do not know if this will lead anywhere.

It's legit, Verizon sales called me back when we got disconnected from this number, its the main number for their whole building so it shows up on all the outbound caller ID. It belongs to their Western Sales Center.
I do not have an accont with Verizon. They keep calling me looking for my sister. I called them back and told them they have no business calling customer's family members and advised them to take my name off their list and not to call me again. We'll see if they actually follow through.
They are representing Verizon - they were trying to get me to re-up my contract for a new phone.
I looked at my phone and saw that I got a call from this number (949-286-3311). I checked my voicemail because they had left a message and it was an automated message. It said something like "This is Verizon Wireless calling about your cellular phone account" (or something like that).
It's kind of weird because....
....AT&T/Cingular is my wireless phone service. Not Verizon.
This is a spam for ID theft. Verizon usually calls your cell # that authorizes your account to take care of account business. I keep getting calls from this # on my home phone, which Verizon doesn't have. If you don't answer the call, eventually your # will drop from their automatic dialer. Never give out your info unless you instigate the call and are sure of whom you are calling. Good Luck!
A Michael? of VZ called to say my bill of $115.?? was past due. Incoming call also included msg that call was recorded for training purposes. He asked for my PIN #, which unfortunately provided. Caught me unaware. Asked him further of amt, as was not typical & he said it included $25 late fee. I said I'd pay bill, but not late fee, & asked for supervisor. He disappeared, then ret'd to say late fee was not $25, but $5. Persisted to ask for supervisor, & after ~30-45sec of quiet, one did come online. After call ceased, did recall VZ, who did show my call to them re billing question, but NOT initial call from them to me re bal due. Must be phishing--cursed be the slime who do this!!!!!!!!!!!!
called with this number but left a different number...
I have been receiving calls from this number numerous times. Sometimes twice a day and then sometimes not at all. Well I have had enough. I've lodged a complaint with the FCC so let's see what happens. I work at the Superior Courthouse and I don't appreciate that my phone is being called at all times of the day. 949 is the area code for south Orange County the Irvine area of California.
My bills have been payed on time. That is why this number is confusing. It never leaves a message, and when I call it back, it's just a robo-receptionist.
I swear it's a phishing scam, you know, call it back, it SOUNDS like verizon, asks for your billing info, and BAM, your credit card is charged for 1000$ worth of porno dvds.
It must be legit though. Hmmm. I will keep investigating.
This appears to be a poorly programed robot. It called me twice, but the messages were truncated so it must start as soon as the phone picks up for a message. Finally got one with this number:800 277 4542
Probably legit - I've had trouble with my Verizon account.
answered it, didnt hear a thing. Dunno what they want.
no message...just called and hung up.
don"t call me anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
got 3+ calls
This is Verizon Wireless - Collection Dept. asking for payment on your account since it is past due.
This number just calls and hangs up.
This is a scam folks. Don't call the number back or any number that they gave to you. I've gotten the calls and have automated payments, with no late bills. If you suspect that you have a late bill due, call Verizon with a phone number you already have for them. Whatever you do, don't give your credit card information to anyone who calls from this number.
left automated msg that is cut off due to my ringback tone. I am only able to hear the call back #800-277-4542. When I call this #, they claim to be Verizon Wireless Financial Services. Unsure if this is legit because I do not follow through with the call.
These guys have been calling me every single day at least three times a day for the past several months. I hate it! I get the same Verizon Wireless Financial Services voicemail everytime. It's getting me to check my voicemail very often... is that the plan?
They called and did not leave a message on my cell phone.
"Melonfarmers" calling every fifteen minutes for the entire afternoon!
Same thing happened to me got 2 calls no message.
I just received a call from this number. I literally paid my bill (which was overdue) 20 minutes ago! I'm paid up, and my next payment is not due until the 13th.
Have been receiving calls from this # for the past three weeks, they call while I'm working and don't leave a msg. Finally I answered, it said to hold for a rep from Verizon financial dept. My bill is all paid, there is a zero balance, they tried to get $60 bucks out of me. I even went into the Verizon office asked them about this, they said they do not make calls from a 949 area code, only 800 #'s. The lady who called stated Verizon doesn't have their info because it is confidential collections information. Whatever! Scammers.
SPAM caller
This bothers me. Why does Verizon pay people to hound them about their bill and act like a credit agency? I get a text message from Verizon .These morons don't even have their name displayed on caller id. If it said Verizon I'd be more likely to answer, but it has all the qualities of a possible scam (they called me and not the other way around, they ask for personal information, they can not provide any proof that they are who they say they are).
I decided to look online to see if this number came up and I found this place as well as a few others regarding the same #. I never picked up this call but they've called 3 or 4 times in a row every few days. They never leave a message.
I don't answer this number as it is in Spanish and is SPAM. 8-13-07 @9:54 am MDT 87107 postal code
They want your money. Its Financial serivces calling.
today while at the dentist office i got 5 missed calls from 10:44 am to 11:32 am... very annoyed and will be contacting verizon wireless to find out the scam
When I get a call from numbers like this I do not answer them. The only voicemail I got was "277 4542"
This is from Verizon. They called me the day after I paid my bill to remind me that it is due soon!
The called, but only half of their message was recorded on my VM, so I couldn't tell who it was. Looking at the responses on this site, it sounds like Verizon. I've never had an account with them...
Not sure what's going on but I keep getting calls from this number. Hmmm
They call me at least three times a day. They left a message finally and it was Verizon Wireless. I do not have Verizon never had and they ask for someone I don't know. How do I stop them from calling???
These guys are a pain in the back. They are fake and call you a million times.
This is really annoying.
I was getting a fax from that number on my cell!
It does appear to be from Verizon. They ask you to call 800 277 4542, but, except for this page, I don't see anywhere to verify that the number belongs to them. Apparently their bill slipped through the cracks this month, so I appreciate the call, but I think the idiots could find a better way to do it. Everything about it sounds like a phishing scam. In this age of identity fraud, you're stupid if you call a number left on your VM and give them your billing zip code, phone number and last four. I recommend that if you get a message from them to call an 800 number that you just dial 611 instead. No airtime charges AND you actually know you're talking to Verizon.
I just got 2 calls this morning, about 5 minutes apart for the first time today. I do have Verizon, however, it is through my parents, they are the primary account holders and also pay the bill. So if they're calling for money they're calling the wrong person!! lol
its usually a call to let you know that you have NOT PAID YOUR BILL..... : )
My wife got a call the other day that left a cut off message. Then today she got another message that said it was Verizon Financial Services and to call at 1-800-277-4542. I'm the primary account holder and called Verizon using *611 and they said that my account was good and didn't know why anyone would have called me. Ther was no record of a call in the notes on my account. I'd say it's probably a scam.
They called again and left a message claiming to be Verizon, now oddly wnough they left a message with a number that is Verizon's Financial Services.
My bill is up to date, so I'm baffled. They could dispense with the circumlocutions and just call direct if it is Verizon, no need to use a number used by other scammers, dead ends and cubicle bums.
Assholes called me again, 3:15, left a voicemail but it was a recording and it was cut off.
I got calls from 949-286-3311 4 times on 6/15 abd 4 times on 6/16. Who's calling
I was called 3 times in five minutes from this number. I don't answer out of area phone number calls I don't recognize. They didn't leave a message and I didn't call back.
This guy called me asking for another person on my account. Told him he had the wrong number. He had a correct name and a number make me wonder what else he has. I'll be calling my local Verizon office and reporting him. Like everyone else I'm all paid up so i have no idea why he'd call. He didn't say he was from Verizon nor did he give his name. seems like that be a priority.
# Called cell phone that I only use for emergency. Not a Verizon customer, and do not have any debts.
Got a call from this number this morning at 9:30 AM Arizona Time. Nothing but static. JERKS
It's Verizon wireless and I refuse to pay my bill. Screw them.
Don't know who this is, but they keep calling.
These fucking pricks called me again. They need to call Michael Jackson - he makes you say "come here little boy".
all I get is a recording in my message saying 4542 and that is it how the hell Im I supposed to know who it is...
I kept getting a call from this number and it was a computer saying call 800-277-4542, I never called the number but realized I hadnt paid my bill in 2 months so maybe thats why they were calling.
I received a call from this number. My Verizon account is current. I called the number back and thought it was a scam because it was supposedly from Verizon Financial Services. So I hung up and called 611 from my Verizon cell phone. They confirmed that it was Verizon that called and wanted to offer me a new contract. It was strange that they didn't call on my cell phone, since that is who I have service with.
I am a Verizon Wireless Customer... I have been getting phone calls from 949-286-3311. They have called a few times, I don't haven't answered though. Today (Monday, June 4, 2007) at 10:00AM, and left a voicemail. Now I am locked out of my voicemail, and get a generated message that says "You are not allowed to access/call this number", then I it references AllTell, and says some number. I also have been getting phone calls from a 310-318-0779 Number. It's supposidly a publishing company, when you I call back, it goes t voicemail and informs you if you want to be taken off the calling list then just leave your name, and number, but their voicemail is full....
they called !!! every morning between 11:34 to 11:54 am !!!!
I get several calls a day, usually in the morning, from this number.. They never leave a message and I never answer the calls. What is going on?
Just got half a message that was nothing but half of a a phone number, nothing else.
My bill is paid so it's not Verizon.
I don't know who this is but this person keeps calling me!
several calls from this number, I didn't answer and they did not leave a voicemail? I too have verizon...
got a call from this number. Didn't answer because I was at work. Got half of a message , all I heard was the end of a recording saying "please call us back . . . etc."
Have called before. I will not answer because my account is always paid on time. Plus Verizon always sends me emails, that's how I stay on top of it. other wise, they would never waste our minutes. Whenever I call Verizon they always say my call is airtime free. SCAM!
They have called twice in the past two days -- no messages
Got this call.
I answered but no one wa on the other end so I hung up.
you guys are such losers..
just pay your damn phone bill
I don't really understand what's going on. Why is who calling and how'd they get my number?
Said 'Hello' and no one answered. Left the phone off the hook and they eventually hung up after 2 min, 14 sec.
Bunch of child-molestors calling.
I got 5 calls from this number this afternoon. No voicemail.
It's me again...
The collection agencies are very psychological. You all think it's Verizon calling because that's what you hear in your v-Mail. If you ANSWER the call, sometimes you hear nothing (because you answered). Sometimes someone may ask for someone else, sometimes they'll ask for YOU. They'll ask you for a "password" (unlawful - probably to call Verizon & compromise your account). Then they may ask you to pay by phone. The more information you give them, the more leverage they have against you.
This information is for those of you who are experiencing credit problems. I'm providing everyone with this information, because I have sources INSIDE a Debt Collection Agency. I, myself, am in serious debt - so my knowledge combined with my real-world experience (being in debt) is a killer combo when dealing with creditors!
If you'd like more information, please feel free to drop a comment and I will post more info.

It's me again....
I can go on and on and on. Collection agencies are breaking the law by finding other means to get in touch with you. It's so convenient for people in serious debt to turn to debt consolidation companies, which advertise that they'll negotiate up to 60% off of your original outstanding balance. Creditors that call you pretend to be friendly, but they're commission-based. If you settle for 40% with a credit (like I have with many of my creditors, WITHOUT the use of a debt consolidation company), the person handling your account won't get the kind commission/promotion points necessary to get a raise, move up the food chain, if he doesn't get you to settle for 60-70% (or more) of your original outstanding balance.
it's me again...
Just think about it. Over half the people on this page said they called Verizon's 800 number and were told that the (949) 286-3311 doesn't belong to their company. There are sites that allow you to look up your phone number's area code/prefix - and some website will tell you who the service provider is (Verizon, etc). If one were smart enough (Collection Agencies - wink wink), they could orchestrate a large-scale operation where if you were in serious debt, a company could call you from a spoof caller ID, claiming to be Verizon (because your phone number's area code/prefix popped up as a Verizon number on a website). When you answer (or not), the collection agecny would play a recorded message, acting like they were from Verizon. If it went to your v-Mail, you'd probably disregard the message because you either caught the tail-end of the message, or you called Verizon's 800 number to tidy everything up. If you're not with Verizon and you get this message, and/or you're not the person they're looking for, your phone number could've once belonged to someone who was in serious debt, and their Verizon service (their OLD number now being YOUR number) was shut off.
....it's me again.
I found that there are "caller ID spoofing" products/service widely available online. For $10, you get like 60 or 120 minutes of talk time. Here's what it does (it's like a calling card):
You call the 800 number, dial in the number you wanna call. You then dial the number you want to APPEAR on the caller ID of the person you're calling. THen you can select an option to change your voice to 1.)man 2.)woman 3.)yourself 4.)computer-generated sounding (like Verizon's automated menu). When the person you're calling gets the call. Their caller ID would read (949) 286-331 - if that's the number you wanted it to display. When the person answers the call (or if you reach their v-Mail), you can have and automated message play - "This is Verizon calling, please call us back....."
It's that easy. How do I know? I know someone who works for a sleezy collection agency. It's ILLEGAL for collection agencies to pretext call people (using caller IDs that are spoofed), but my source says his company uses it very frequently.
1 - Could be a scam
2 - Does anyone else in this forum have credit problems with other companies?
Could be a pretext call (spoof caller ID, but a different creditor calls). I'm being harrassed by Peter at ARS Financial (760) 735-8531 - a collection agency that Dell sent my account to. The creditor (who you think is Verizon) may take your payment information, and find some legal way to take money out of your account using the info you gave them (SSN, check account, or other identifiable info).
The (949) 286-3311 number calls right after he does. If you're in debt (like many Americans are), this could be common tactic used by creditors - especially if you're ignoring them.
I don't think it's a scam. I think a collection agency is after me. I programmed all their numbers into my Motorola Q (Windows smartphone), and I installed a software that automatically blocks calls that meet certain criteria (blocked number, name/number shows as "unknown" - contacts I store in my phone (creditors???).
Now that they go straight to v-mail without my phone ringing, this (949) 286-3311 number pops up. If anyone here has credit problems, or are being chased by collection agencies, this type of S#%t may be a new way creditors are coming after us.

They've called me twice a day for past two days. no message. I have Verizon Wireless, so it could make sense if it was them.
Yeah- they never leave a message. They call me about 3 times a day, but I never answer. I thought maybe because my payment was late, but hello??? I paid them in full 2 wks ago. So now what do they want? My first born?
Verizon HARASSES! They STILL haven't removed my phone number and I'M NOT EVEN THEIR CUSTOMER. THEY HAVE WASTED MY TIME TO THE POINT THAT I EITHER HAVE TO BLOW UP OR BLOW THEM UP!!! WHY DO THEY NOT CARE ABOUT INNOCENT PEOPLE LIKE ME??? THEY HAVE WASTED AT LEAST 40 HOURS OF MY TIME AND WILL NOT REIMBURSE ME. THAT'S ILLEGAL (MINIMUM WAGE LAW). UNTIL I GET REIMBURSED FOR MY TIME, THEY OWE ME BIG TIME.
I received a call from this number and I did not pick up. They left a message asking me to call back at 1800-277-4542 regarding my Verizon account. I then received a text message saying i should call 1800-267-4016 regarding my account. I called Verizon at 1800-922-0204 and asked them if the numbers were legit. Verizon said that those numbers to do not belong to Verizon and do not know who is sending the messages. They said that there was no reason why they would need to call me regarding my account since it was fine and to disregard the calls. Before calling those numbers, do yourself a favor and call Verizon at their actual number.
yah i dont really answer the numbers i dont know...but this number called me at 4/30/07 at 5:58pm...so i looked up this number
they left a message regarding my verizon account. I always pay my bill ahead of time. Must be a scam.
Have called me two days in a row multiple times -- I don't answer the call
it's verizon. they call you when your account is overdue. but...to the guy (gi) who doesn't have verizon service... i dunno. hmn.
same story never left a message. isnt it illegal to spam a cell number
well i've been getting those calls from this Stupid # everyday for the past 2 weeks , and it's twice a day , i'm just sick and tierd
They have been calling like three times a week. Two calls minutes from eachother, no msg. I dont have a clue. area code O.C. Verizon has a call center there in Irvine.
They also left me a broken v/m asking for the primary account contact. this is the first time i have received a call such as this.
I have got numerous calls from this number. Each time they ask for another person who is main person on our account. When I tell them this is not that person they ask to leave a message for her. Our main person on our account has called Verizon numerous times giving them her number so they will call her. However, I keep getting calls from this number. It makes no since that Verizon doesn't have the main person on our accounts phone #, especially after we have called them giving them the correct number. Makes me think this is a SCAM. If it's not a scam, then Verizon is just a P.O.S company which we will be switching away from if this continues. ARRRGGHH!
I don't know who this number is. They have called 3 times and left no message.
About a month ago I was getting calls from this # two - three x a day!!! When I would answer, there wouldn't be anyone there... weird. I was so frusterated w/it one day @ work that finally one of my co-workers took my cell and, from our work line, called them back. They asked for my phone number in order to pull up my account. Then said they were looking for Carla. I am not Carla! They said they would remove my number. They didn't! The call frequency just dropped from 2x a day most days of the week, to 1 or twice a day a couple of days a week. Then it stopped all together...for a month and a half...until today!!! What do these people want?!!
No idea who called. All I got from the message is her saying three numbers and a thank you.
THey call cell phone once in morning and once in afternoon. Message leaves 1-800-277-4542 "concerning my wireless account"
Got a call from this number, called the 800 support number to see if I could verify that the 949 number was an authorized verizon number, and they said they couldn't. I Answered the phone after reading these comments, they say nothing. You get a voice mail, and all it says is thank you. Even the billing and financial number isn't out of California
was on the phone for 18 seconds and they didn't say ANYTHING. It was stupid.
I have recieved a call once everyday for the past week from this number.Everytime I answer there's no one there.Who are these people????
I resign from Verizon; got about 5 calls every 2-4 days. Sound competition market research to me; AT&T or Israel, I guess; any way someone stealling ID; it look random computer call and recorded system spy on you ... if you are stupid enough to talk own SSN and DoB over the phone to unknown thief; my friend got something similar about his credit and payments for home - they call themself Welsh Fargo, but no one know in Welsh Fargo who they are and why they called good customer - to scary him; yes ... so you got "guilty" and proof inocnet - say all personal data - including all bank accounts; we shall report it to a police; 2 reasons; 1 - where they got our Phone Number and some basic info; must be friendly Verizon / Welsh Fargo employee ... and second; who want our Confidential information and for what ??
Verizon Wireless Financial Services
Unknown - cannot block. Keeps harrassing. Local police now interested and will be escallating with call reports...
First call I've received. Came to our land-line business number, so I answered - but no response after my intial greeting
2 calls from this number 15 min apart, then again 5 min later. This is a company issued phone, no idea why I am getting these calls?
It is verizon wireless -- haven't paid the cell phone bill
I got a weird call.
They dropped it after a minute.
could be verizon, i was messing with my phone. logged out.
my son answered the phone, nothing said when he said hello. I took the phone, same thing, nothing said
BEWARE, this # is a SCAM, DO NOT give any personal info, have been reported to law enforcement, 2/28/07
THis site is amazing. i didnt answer either because; if yer not in my phonebook then you get to leave a message.... Anyway. im glad i found this place.
They called me tonight regarding my verizon account. I'd already paid the bill and the system didn't catch it, but they asked me to hold for about 30 seconds, then I was connected to someone.
it is verizon and they charge you minutes for this call I went over my minutes because I talked to them about a question I had about my account now how come I dont get charged minutes for mobil to mobil BUT I get charged for a call that is made to the company
This call comes from Verizon Wireless Financial Department. The reason they are calling is because the account holder for a Verizon Wireless cell phone is either late on a payment or has a past due amount on their account that is over 30 days late. They will call up to 5 times a day until you make the payment or after the next billing cycle, making your payment over 60 days late. If you do not pay the overdue amount, by the 60 day mark your service will be turned off and other means to collect the money will be in progress.
Accounts Payable for Verizon Wireless because I haven't paid my $500+ cell phone bill.
At first this number called me twice daily. Now it calls me 6+ times every morning, every day, never a message. I was helping my Spanish speaking uncle get a contract and we canceled within the 7 day trial because of poor reception in his warehouse. Verizon doesn't care -- they want their money and careless me gave my own number as the contact number. Verizon told me that unless I give them my uncles number they would keep calling (blackmail). My uncle went ahead and paid them over $150 (I would NEVER have done that) and they still call 6x per day.
I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know. This number called twice (5 minutes apart) and didn't leave any messages. Must not be important....
Yes, it is Verizon. But they are dead wrong in calling and asking for a password. I don't care who it is, they are going to have a hell of a time with me bitching if they ask for my password after THEY call me. It's one thing if I call Verizon. Anyway, I encourage everyone to bitch at Verizon if they ask for your password. With all the fraud going on, how can they possibly expect that??
Yup, must have been Verizon. Why don't they say anything when I answer??
They called me. Guess I should pay my bill. ROFL
Called me but I didn't pick up. Left a message telling me to call 18002774542.
It was Verizon. They called at 7:59 local (PST) from Irvine.
This number comes up 2x a day...I have no idea who it is and they never leave a message.
Heads up that this number calling about our bill "May" be a scam, reading some of the posts from others who have been called make it seem like a scam, don't pay or agree to make a payment via this call, tell them that you will call back the 800 number to make a payment. Either this is a scam, phishing or just a bad business practice either way don't reward them by making a payment via this method.
I got a call from them asking me to pay $150 for my father's phone bill (I don't know how they got his name). I told them I would pay my bill online but when I called verizon back later, they said that he didn't have any balance past due. I think this is a scam and I urge you guys to be careful!
I keep getting a call from them 12/19 around 3 and 4 pm Just says No Name
That # has been calling me everyday for the past week, at least once, if not twice a day! I don't answer; they don't leave messages.
A guy called my cell phone asking for "Susan" I told him he has the wrong #. He asked if he could leave a msg for Susan, I told him "no you have the wrong # there is no Susan." He said he was calling from Verizon Wireless and maybe he dialed wrong and asked me what my # was. I asked him "what # did you mean to dial?" He said "well this is a Verizon Wireless #? I told him "no I don't even have Verizon."
VERIZON WIRELESS SUCKS! ENOUGH SAID!
They've now called 8 times in two days. Verizon bill is paid and they are on my last nerve.
My husband received a call from this number today, 11/29/06. He didn't answer and received a message saying that they were calling about our wireless service and to call back and they left a number. Instead of calling that number, my husband called Verizon directly. Our account is paid up, there are no problems with it, there are no notes about calling us. It sounds like a phishing scam of some sort to me. Postal code 84770
Got calls at 1:19 and 1:35 pm on 11/28, 16 min interval like for Edgar. Didn't answer, no msgs likely an automated call from Verizon about my bill, which they only sent me 4 days ago. They are too aggressive about this. Glad this site exists!
no message, very annoying!
Some dumb bitch
I never answer numbers I don't know. I've had a call from this # maybe three times in three days, and the message left is automated as well as cut off. All I get is maybe the last three numbers from a woman's voice. If it is Verizon they should know better, shouldn't they?
Wow, thank you. I had no idea who this could have been!
Verizon Wireless. I am a Verizon customer. I assume it is related to my past due bill.
Same as everyone else. Don't answer strange numbers. It makes sense it's Verizon. I need to pay them!:-) Love this site!
The number called me about 5 times this morning and twice I answered and there was nothing on the other end. The other 3 times I let it go to voice mail and no messages. Very strange.
called left no message. if it isd vorizon i talked to someone from tyhere yesturday and now it is harrassment
Received another 2 calls from this number. At 4:53pm & 5:09pm AZ time. One message was left. Again it was a recording saying "Thank you".
Two calls today to my fax number. Someone is confused.
They called me twice in 3 days, but I don't answer it if I don't recognize the number. No messages left either time.
called at 1525 pst no message...first time noticed...i'm in tacoma wa
No msg left. didnt answer cuz I didnt recognize the number nor did they leave a msg.
They called and asked for "Christine" saying they were from Verizon. I said I have no clue who "Christine" is. He said this was the number she told them to call. Anyway, I told him sorry, wrong number.
They called me twice today, and it was within ten minutes. The voicemail said to call my Verizon Wireless Financing Division. I am all payed up so I don't know what it is about.
This is the first time I received a call from this number. I didn't answer the call, but there was a voicemail left. When I checked the voicemail, all that was there was a recording that said "Thank you". So I'm assuming the rest of the recorded message was "before the beep". Area code 949 is in Irvine, CA.
Yep it's Verizon Wireless, and it was about my overdue bill. Mea Culpa
NPA-NXX 949-286 is Irvine, California. The number is registered to AT&T (Pacific Telephone.) I'll post more as I find it.
I am in postal code 84111. I have received two calls about 10 minutes apart. Both have originated from this number and nobody on the originating end speaks when I ansewer teh call.
I got several calls from the number last wednesday and friday, one message was left saying it was Verizon calling about my account. I'm an Alltel customer not Verizon
It doesnt say who it is so I dont answer the phone if it isnt a number I recognize. They leave a message that says 277-4542, but doesnt give an area code or say who they are. Why would I waste my minutes calling someone who only leaves a number?
Called and left a message saying that it involved my wireless account.
they called me 2 times today... and when i called back they asked for account information and social security number. postal code 12302
It is Verizon Wireless Financial Services. These guys are stupid. Like one said, I know when my bill is due and I know how far I can go until I have to pay. I don't need these scabs calling me to tell me my bill is due. It won't make me pay so...
Yep! It was Verizon Wireless.. no message left. But I better pay my cell bill quick! because that is what they were calling about!!!
Turns out after some research my auto pay wasn't scheduled to start until November and I did owe some money. I was mistaken in my previous post where I indicated the autopay was already set up.
It's a valid number
Someone called and i didnt answer bcuz i dont answer calls i dont know. They didnt leave any messages. who is this?
this number left a message of a really long phone ring that was stuck (exactly like the "phone" ring tone option available on verizon phones). it was loud, longer than the normal ring tone and then it just hung up. i've never received a call like that from verizon. i'm going to call verizon today and ask them about it.
not sure they didn't leave a message so it couldn't be that important.
They called @ 4:52, 5:08 and 5:25. No messages left. I don't answer numbers I don't know.
If it is about my bill, the right hand doesnt' know what the left hand is doing. It was paid yesterday am.
they called me 3 times today while i was away from my cell phone. i think i may be overdue with my cell bill.
They have called me several times asking for someone I don't know and they hound me to leave a message for them and I ask who it is and they always hang up after saying a rude comment!!
I have had 5 calls from them today. No messages. If it's Verizon I don't know why they would be calling. I'm all payed up! :)
they called me twice in about 10 minutes and the first time left a message but it was just static. then eventually i called them back and it was verizon. or at least it was a verizon sounding menu. but the thing is, that (i have a verizon phone) usually when verizon contacts me to check up on me or tell me i'm runnin gout of minutes or whatever, it's a text message. so i dunno. i hung up as soon as i got a "welcome to verizon" recording.
Just called for first time - no clue as to who it was, didn't leave message.
Have gotten 3 calls from this number, but no msgs left. Also don't answer #s I don't know. Thanks for the info! I'll assume its Verizon either doing a marketing thing or checking on my last cust svc call ("How did we do?".
This site ROCKS!
This number called and asked me to dial verizon at 800-277-4542. Appears to be legit.
"They" have been calling me all morning. A message was left once, but it was truncated, so I only heard "back at your earliest convenience." The voice was electronic.
Same here, 2 calls about 5 minutes apart. Didn't answer and they never left a message.
I didn't answer and they didn,t leave a message.
The called and left a message saying they are from Verizon and is calling regarding my account. Strange ! I don't have an account with them.
dont know who it was, didnt leave a message!
I DONT ANSWER # THAT I DONT KNOW, BUT THIS ONE IS DRIVING ME NUTS!, THEY CALL ME TWICE A DAY EVERY DAY!!!!!!!! WHO ARE THIS PEOPLE?
Usually I don't answer numbers don't know, but I was very curious 'couse they call me twice, 08/29/06 @11:34am and 11:50am same day. Thats why I decided to look the number on the web. Postal code is 88001
