The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number,

Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want

These people call me at least 5x's a day @ work. The receptionist warns them that they are calling a place of employment and they are not allowed to and they still do it. All they ever say its a personal business call from Georgia, they never leave a company name or anything. This has gotten to be so frustrating especially for her who has to answer their calls. She never transfers and hangs up on them now. When will they stop and what do they want. I owe them NOTHING. Thanks "nth" Im going to do exactly what you said.
To the person that was dumb enough to claim being on a no call list. You have to be kidding me!!! That does not apply to credit collectors, just advertisements.
I've had enough of this crap from Bay Area Credit and American Medical Response Ambulance Service (a.k.a. AMR). I should have found this site years ago. An individual by the name of Jamie Roberts, who I'm now convinced is a "code name" for almost everyone at Bay Area Credit, continually calls me and has denied calling me previously. This individual is the rudest person I've ever dealt with in my life.
After 2 1/2 years of disputing the charges with these sub-humans, I've begun recording the conversations. They had the audacity to tell me on 07/03/09 that I wasn't authorized to record the conversations. Excuse me???? They won't talk to me if I record the conversations but they can threaten consumers all they'd like when they're "recording" their conversations for the "training and quality control purposes". What kind of training classes and quality control does this company teach it's employees?
Thank you to the individual who sent the link to the "Texas Attorney General" website about debt collectors and credit collections. This is good information and I will use it immediately.
Unfortunately, TIRR Hospital in Houston contracted AMR to transport my husband (to UTMB in Galveston, Texas for follow-up care) who sustained a severe traumatic brain injury due to someone else's negligence. If I would have known that AMR would have not been so diligent on their billing practices and care in transport of my husband I would have refused their services and made TIRR contract another ambulance company. Dealing with AMR and their credit collection company Bay Area Credit sure doesn't help heal the wounds of my husband's and family's life being forever altered.
In February 2008, our insurance company finally paid American Medical Response (a.k.a. AMR) in full for 18 ambulance runs beginning in June 2006 and lasting through August 2006. I've been dealing with AMR regarding these "past-due" accounts since October 2006.
I've been able to produce copies of the cashed checks from my insurance carrier. I've sent multiple copies of the EOB's as well as the cancelled checks to both AMR and Bay Area Credit yet they continue to contact me after all this time.
By the way, AMR's ambulance was INFESTED with ants on one occasion and they couldn't transport my husband, hence the reason for their no-show on one occasion and no courtesy call to let us know about their delay. Needless to say we didn't get a discount on the replacement AMR ambulance who was hours late.
One day these individuals will be judged by the Good Lord above. I hope these individuals sleep well at night.
Called and asked for me by my first and last name as though they knew me. When I inquired as to whop they were, I was then asked if they could speak to my husband, I don't even have a husband. Then she goes on to say that this is a credit matter that they want to discuss. (I told her previously that I was not N. Jefferson from the beginning of the call, because she did not identify herself nor the company she was calling from). But, she went on to get an attitude and told me to let N. Jefferson know that she had called.
they are using a new number, but same company... I don't know if they are scavange debt collectors, if they don't send me something in the mail.. I don't care.. I have a home phone that lets you program in different rings for different numbers.. I programed this one in as NO RING!! call all you want to a$$ holes!~! I am not calling you back~ Mail me a bill!! in this economy everyones credit sucks.. YOu sure can't hurt mine anymore than the layoff my company had....so bring it on!!!! I had a credit report ran a year ago and nothing was on it.. actually my score was really good.. I try to live within my means.. I have had a rough few months, but my bills are paid..so not sure what these people want.. I will not go into the fire without knowing what they want first.. you have my phone number so use my address~~~~
If these scumbags are calling you about a debt that isn't yours, beware - they probably have also put something bad and untrue on your credit report. I know because that's what they did to me. I finally got them to stop calling (for now anyway) but now my credit if F***ed. So check your credit reports, people.
One of the the GREAT THINGS about 800 #'s of all sorts (866-888 and so on) is that SOMEONE pays for them. So EACH TIME you call that number, there is a charge that is registered to a company / corporate account, and these charges end up on a telephone bill kinda that same as you and I get at the end of the month or quarter. That means that SOMEONE is having to pay for them.
Now can you imagine if everyone who got one of these calls, posted this number someone where hundreds or even THOUSANDS of people would call it.
I bet that would make a large bill for that telemarketer company and MAYBE they would get the hint that it is not cost effective to call people and harass them when they don't even have the right number.
Just something to think about.
Just in case has anyone gotten a a call from this number
800-862-4187. It states that it is a collection agency operated by Jamie Roberts of Bay Area Collections.
Bay Area Credit called four times today. I answered and was hung up on each time. I called the number back and had my number removed three times. I was told each time they would make sure I would not receive anymore calls. But each time I keep getting calls.
This is a scam. I received a letter from Bay Area Credit Service, LLC. claiming that I owe money to a AT&T-West (I called my AT&T provider and they said they had no idea what claim I was referring to). So I called the Bay Area Credit Service, LLC.'s number listed on the "Account Notification" form several times all to be rudely hung up on after I stated I was inquiring about the notification rather than "making a payment."
Essentially, Bay Area Credit Service denied my request for inquiry by hanging up on me rather than answering my questions.
Btw, the number Bay Area Credit Service provided me on my form is was: (877) 405-3352 which appears different that what others below listed.
Resolution: Instead of complaining on this board, I suggest we all file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau if you had problems with Bay Area Credit Service, LLC.:
bbb.com
-type in the zip code of the business - for me Bay Area Credit Service, LLC listed their zip code as "94509" so I typed that number and hit "go" button
-under "Start Your Search With Trust" click link for "Check Out a Business or Charity"
-for Business/Charity Name: type "Bay Area Credit Service" and click search
-At the bottom you will see a link for "File Complaint" for Bay Area Credit Services, click that link and fill out form.
Hopefully all of our complaints will forced the Better Business Bureau to act. My complaint is currently pending.
The Better Business Bureau has received several complaints already regarding this company. Check for yourselves. Good luck to us all.
I got a new Blackberry with T-Mobile service last week. Apparently T-Mobile turns numbers over very quickly- I've been getting calls from 18004542227 since I got the phone. One was a hangup; after I realized from one of the messages that they were looking for "Shannon", I left an outgoing messages that I'm not Shannon and I don't know her. They're still calling daily.
they keep sending me bills that never happened they hung up on me 7 times within 10 min they have reported me to the credit agency which hurts my credit score this is not right
I just started getting calls from these people at my home - asking for a Donna Douglas (yay Elly May) The recording told me to call 800-862-4187 and ask for a Janice Roberts. Well I wasn't going to but did - they answered with a recording and almost hung up but I waited. Told the lady who answered that they are calling my number for a person who doesn't live here. She was actually quite nice and said she'd remove my number. Now let's see if I get another call tomorrow.

You can have this number at Bay Area Credit at 800 862 4187.
I have complained after the agent had removed us from their call list.
These people are rude.
Got a recorded message from this phone number (caller ID says BAY AREA CREDIT) telling me to call 800-454-2227 for an important message 'which is not a solicitation'. Yeah, right. I am on the DNCL, and am filing complaints on both numbers. "BAY AREA CREDIT" can go to hell.
I have never had T-Mobile nor used any ambulance service ever... But, I was curious about the statues; so, you can search it easily by typing your state and then "statutes on debt collection" if you are unsure... Hope this helps some!! It's good to know your rights under the law!!
This is for the great State of Texas, under the jurisdiction of The Texas Attorney General:
Protections Under the Law can be found at: oag.state.tx.us
I called back several times, twice I got thru to a person, everytime I get hung up on before I can figure out what is going on.
These shit stains have been calling my house non-stop for the last 3 weeks. The person they are looking for hasn't had my phone number for 3 years! Update your records you shit for brains company.
This company has repeatedly called me to collect on an unpaid debt to our ambulance service which has been paid since 2007. I have even talked with both companies and have proof of payment from my insurance company. They leave me alone for a month or so then start the computered calling again. I am have filed a complaint with the BBB and will see a lawyer now as it will effect my fico scores. How frustrating this type of harrasment is. What else can be done? Any answers out there?
They keep calling me, I anwser the phone they don't say anything then hang up. Then I call back and get a recording that they are closed. Friday I got these calls ever 20 mins. 5 times. I have no credit problems and never have. The number they call me from is 1-800-84 forgot third number then 2302. I found out from a lawer they can be reported to the attorney generals office and the b.b.b.
Got a call Memorial Day am when I planned to relax and "sleep in". Did not answer, a recorded message was left -appears to be a collection agency that wants a return call "not a solicitation or sales call". I have been getting calls I never answer also from Oxford Management another collection agency. I found out who these agencies were by typing in their numbers on the search bar...very troublesome for people to deal with. I have no credit issues with anyone and feel that they may be related from the past owner of my phone number. ANNOYING! Don't answer is my advise. The Do Not Call blocking does not stop these callers.
this company call me at least once a day leave message to call back, but when call back no one answer. they still call even my phone is on the do not call list.
For those who are receiving calls from a credit collections agency trying to collect for old debts or old debts, or bought out by a company other than the one you originally made a loan with, CHECK YOUR STATE STATUTES.
In most states, there are laws stating the time limit concerning the amount of time a Credit Company of any kind can collect a debt. They can list it on your credit report as unpaid and this will affect your credit rating.
I am not a lawyer, but to get them to stop calling try this, it worked for me, sort of.
Send a certified letter stating that they have 30 days to provide you with all documentation of the alleged delinquent account, including but not limited to any and all legal contracts signed by you, any copies of bills that you supposedly received, etc. State very clearly in the letter that they are not to call you anymore and they should only correspond to you via mail. *** If you request, they have to oblidge, its federal law.
State in your letter that if you do not receive documented proof within 30 days that you legally accepted the debt in question and did not pay the debt in question, that you will consider the matter closed and demand that they cease all action against you. Also, demand that they do not contact any credit reporting agency.
Here's what will happen. They will stop. And they will sell your fake debt account to another agency. In a few months, you'll get calls from someone else.
Good luck!
Constantly calling and leaving no message even on weekends
10 May 2008
I just received a call from Bay Area Credit at my home number for a Mark McDermott. When I responded that I do not know a Mark McDermott and queried the caller about who he was his response was
The rudest dam man I've ever talked too. Kept asking me if this was my debt, repeatedly told him no, I don't
have no outstanding debt. He demanded I go to the police department and report a fraudgelent crime had been committed. He also asked me if I wanted to settle this today, by paying with a credit card.
He got smart with me several times, and I finally told him too looooose my number, and hung up! By the way they called me on my cell phone, and for the record I've never had T-Mobile, nor do I owe any collection agencys money
They began calling my house in February, 3 months ago. I phoned the number on caller id back once and found out it was Bay Area Credit. They were looking for a guy who had lived with me for 9 months and had just switched to T-Mobile, but I told them he no longer lives here, nor ever would again. They asked where to reach him and I said....____County Prison. That he was in jail for assaulting me. Obviously, he cannot pay this 2 month overdue bill at present. Still, they persisted in phoning me. On second explanation, the rep. said they would take my number off the list. Still kept receiving the calls anywhere from 1 to 3x a day. They tried the tactic of calling an 800# back as a VIP call. They phoned this morning, I tiredly explained that the person they want is in JAIL and will NEVER be at this number again. The man apologized and said my number would be taken off the list. Later in the day...""ring"". Next call, I'm letting them know that the phone co. will receive their number and report it to police. That I am suing for "harassment". This has gone beyond ridiculous.
These people at "Bay area" are not only relentless, but very mean. I paid this so called debt three years ago through the original company. They insulted me by telling me they cannot help it if I do not understand English, even though they were the ones struggling with it. They said they would continue to call everyday. Sometimes multiple times in one day and when I say I already recieved a call and made arrangements to fax proof of payment they say the other person I spoke with is a liar. They refused to send me an invoice and only wanted a payment via the phone. They will not send me anything to prove this so called debt I owe. I smell fraud.
Dont let them call you moe than once. Answer and say, "Please do not call again". They are required by law to cease calling you.
I have received several automated calls on my personal home phone and also the answering machine attached to my phone in the past asking if I was a person named (so and so). The recording went on to say please hang-up if I was not the named person, but if I was the named person, then please call 800-862-4187 and ask for Jodie Roberts at Bay Area Credit. Those calls in past were mostly received in the daytime hours. These automated calls still continue to be made to my phone.
Recently, I received a late after normal hours call at 07:55 PM from a live voice for the 1st time calling to speak to (so and so) party. I asked the caller to identify herself and who she works for. The caller Identified herself as Jodie Roberts from Bay Area Credit asking to speak to my friend. I said (so and so) is not available and I asked what is the call about? Calling Party said the call was of a personnal nature and she could not discuss the matter with me. She (the calling party) did not say anymore about the matter and requested I take a call back message. The Bay Are collection agency rep would not give any detailed info to my friend and the Bay Area Collection Rep then told my friend that they were atempting to collect money that was owed to one of their customers who Bay Area was acting as their collection agency.
These fecks keep calling and I keep ignoring!! I just programmed their number on my cell as a Telemarketer with a silent ring (I never pick up their calls, and simply delete their voicemails if/when they leave them!!) FECK EM!!!
This so-called company has called me 3 days straight, regarding a credit card that I never had. I called the card company and got everything straight with them, and when bay area called me again(after 9PM) I tried to give them the info from the card company and was insulted. I have asked for their info and have been denied, when asked to speak to the supervisor's supervisor, she hung up the phone. I have already filed a police report, and plan to seek legal counsel on this matter.
I answered the phone and it was a recording saying it was serious to call back. But they didn't even talk to me when I answered. Also I am on the no call list.
I HAD TALKED WITH THEM..THEY CALLED IN REGARDS TO SOME UNPAID AMBULANCE BILLS WHICH IS PENDING SINCE 2002..THE FIRST I WONDERED HOW THEY GOT MY NUMBER..THE WORST PART IS THAT THEY HAD ALL MY INFO, INCLUDING MY SSN...ALSO THEY HAD AN ACCESS TO MY CREDIT REPORT...I HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO PAY ON THE A/C...AND THE PAIN IN ASS COLLECTOR "SAM PARK" MADE ME PAY....BEWARE OF HIM
The first time they called I had answered the phone and was flat out threatened. They threatened courts, jail time, and told me they would always be able to find me and do what they they needed to do because they have my social security number! This "company" is nothing but a gang of thugs and I hope no one ever pays them. I don't believe they are legitimate and I don't believe they collect on legitimate debts. So far they have called me every day, sometimes multiple times a day for a year!
File a complaint with the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). Report that they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act by repeatedly calling. You can also file a complaint with your attorney generals office.
I've been getting computerized voice messages from an unidentifiable source
This company is being investigated and is a scam, they attempt to collect your social security number. Report them!!
Hey all...if anyone's reading this, I contacted the Better Business Bureau (BBB) regarding this. They dealt with Bay Area Credit Services in less than 30 days (I had to sign a disclosure, however for them to do it). At any rate, they got a response from the Bay Area Credit Services legal team that my number was "incorrectly associated" and that my number will be taken off their lists. I actually hadn't received a call from this number for the past 2 weeks, so it must have worked! I thought going to the BBB would be bureaucratic, but they seemed to have helped me as they received a lot of complaints before!!!
Received a call from a Mr. Green at 8:30am today. Looking to collect on a $120.65 dept from 2005. Had a credit card number and the name of First Premier Bank. I have never had that number and never dealt with that bank. Finally he provided an address near Boston where I never lived. I told him he was a fraud. He apologized and said goodbye.
Just got my phone number about 2 months ago. I have gotten calls on it from this people at least once a week. I too called back and got a recording to press 1 for English, etc. I pressed 1 and the call got disconnected after a few clicks. Never had T-mobile nor been in any medical situation that required payment. ??? Would love it if someone posts a way to get rid of them!
These people have called me 4 times today looking for a Mark Alexander. Who as been using this my cell number as his own. I do not know Mark Alexander but I know someone who works at the local jail; who knows he was in last spring. A fact I confirmed by calling down there. These people are idiots.
Countless calls from this number. I never pick up. If it is for tmobile I have never even discussed tmobile in my life until this comment. I have had the same phone number without even a late payment for many years!
My ringer is turned off permanently because of these people.
Somebody arrest them!
HELP US THEY WONT GO AWAY-This company calls 3x a day demanding payment we don't owe Its a paid ambulance bill-They are mean&unreasonable.A bunch of GETTO-UNEDUCATED-ASSHOLES!
We should contact the Better Business Bureau regarding this company. I've received tons of calls from this number as well.
Oh wow! I'm not alone. this compnay keeps calling me and saying I owe them money for an ambulance ride I never took!!!! Has anyone been to their website? It definitely looks like a scam! Problem is...they keep calling me every day!!!
OH YEA if they do ever call back you can bet on me filing that police report. LOL!
WOW FINALLY THIS WORKED!!!Ok the last time they called i informed the guy that i was having all calls traced and would be filing a police report and that he needed to inform his supervisor because this was harassment. I told him to ck out the company he worked for cause we dont have any debts in collection. In fact the acct they supposedly say we own on is our current phone acct after verifying with sbc i didnt owe this i started *57 all calls. Throughout ive had over 50 calls from these ppl. BUT, since the last one I have NOT HAD ANY!!! YEA!!!!!!! Try it!!!!!!!
THEY HUNG UP ON ME WHAT DO THEY WANT. I'M DISABLED. I have received a call every single day for the last 7 to 10 days. At first I thought they were selling credit insurance and I told them I am not interested and ended the phone. I have been trying to be extra cautious as I had some fraudulent checks go through my account in June and yesterday found out someone has been using my blockbuster account. They I told them send the info in a letter. Then today I told them I'm disabled and have a payee who pays all bills. If something slipped through the cracks it was a mistake and please tell me what it is and send me a copy in the mail. THEY HUNG UP ON ME!!!!! What do they want
call all of the time, no message, I call back like a sucker and nothing happens. How do I get them off of Sprint?
call on caller ID, no messgae when I called them to inquire, they were very rude, looking for my mother in law who passed away almost 20 years ago, before they could talk to me, they needed proof that she was deceased. no way am I going to provide them with that proof, when I told them that the lady became a bitch and raised her voice, so I told her that their customer service sucked and disconnected. what a bunch of morons.
These people call every day from 800/862-4187. I can't even understand the name they are asking for and I have only had this number for 5 months. I called the number and it was Bay Area Credit but I refused to wait on hold.
Who are these people and why are they calling me?
I have recieved numerous calls from this number. I have spoken to several people. They are asking for someone who is not at my house. They continue to call.
Once again here I am. At least as call a day from this number, or their other number 800-697-1234. Why can't we stop these???
This is a strange number to me. I didn't answer it and they did not leave a message. I thought it was odd so I looked it up on google and got this site. I have no idea who this number belongs to so I'm not answering.
I am on the do not call list as well, and the still called me.
Recv'd 1st time call from this number today @ 6:30 Central time. Have no accounts in collections, now or in the past. Never had a T-Mobile account. I am also on the DNC list.
This company calls my house min. once a day if not more!!! Even though I have repeatedly given them corrected info (Filed bankruptcy over a year ago) they persist in calling and harassing me and my family!
I urge all of you to file a complaint at bbb.org like I did, it seems Bay Area Credit Services aren't in very good standing with the Better Business Bureau!
Got a call from Caller Id Bay Area Credit. I have no credit issues like the rest of you. Recoreded msg to call another number. Hmm..Sounds like a scam to me.
Bay Area Credit purchased a lot of old accounts and are trying to collect on them as if they were recent or new unpaid bills. They are trying to get me to pay $850 for ambulance services from May of 2002. I was never billed. The ambulance service never billed my insurance company. They send one bill to me with an address of, I kid you not: "General Delivery". When is was returned to them by USPS as undeliverable they sent my account to collections. The agency never acted on it. That agency sold my unpaid account to Bay Area Credit. So, now, more than 5 years after the fact, they are harrassing me with phone calls demanding I pay them $850. They've sent the information to the credit reporting bureaus so it will appear on my credit report and affect my credit score.
They called twice this week. I refused to give them personal info to confirm my/family members info. They were trying to collect on an ambulance ride from 2003. No one in the family had an ambulance nor was in the area they described. ever. They admitted having the wrong person and apologized. Still don't trust them. Something shaky about calling almost 4 yrs after the fact. The creditor wasn't even in California either.
They keep calling even after a check has cleared. I received the bill from T-Mobile the next a bill from Bay City Collection sent the payment with in a couple of days. Started getting these calls two days later and even though my check has cleared they keep calling.
T-Mobile collection agency
They keep calling 3x a day and say it's important. i.e. an emergency. wtf
It's a credit agency for T-mobile, but when I called them back (@ 877-355-3112) they admitted that I had already had my name taken off the list (a while back) since the person they are looking for doesn't live there. I asked why they keep calling me, and he hung up!
calling me too, report them to the feds
I must have had 50 calls from these people, how do I make it stop?
They have called my cell phone number several times. I called them back and found out that they are a collection agency. I don't owe them any money, and I told them that I am on a do not call list and not to cb.
This number called me too, I know that they are a collection agency that works for T-Mobile. They are not telemarketers and are allowed to call even if you are on the do not call list.
Wow, 925 is actually a California area code, and not a 900 toll-number. These guys need to be EXTRA careful not to call once and hang up with a number like theirs or leave an automated message telling you to call an 800 number without first letting you know that their number just has a California area code, especially with people who don't live in California like me. Assholes.
I get one ring from this number and then they hang up. I've heard of this scam when it's an 800 number that calls you once and then hangs up, then when you call back you're redirected to a number that charges you a good $5 a minute, but I haven't heard of a 900 number ringing once and then actually expecting anyone to call it back. Well they finally left a message telling me to call 877 355 3112. That's more like it. Now we know they're not complete retards.
If they are bill collectors, they suck.
If they are credit agents, they suck.
If they call me more than once, they suck.
These fools suck, big time.
These people called my direct line at work, which is on the DNC. I do not have credit issues, and have never been a T-Mobile customer. I am reporting them to the FCC.
they just called me 4:51 pm cst
Tmobile collection agency
This number and possibly 8663131216 are linked to bay area creidt, which handles the initial rounds of collections for tmobiles billing mistakes.
Receive at least two calls each week w/recorded message to call back to an 800 number - received my most recent today at 1:45pm
i've been getting it too lately, usually around 11:30 for passed few days
STOP CALLING
This # called my cell and did not leave a message. I called it back and got a greeting saying for english press 1, spanish press 2, etc. I pressed 1 and the phone rang one time, I heard one number pressed on a keypad, and the call disconnected. Do not know what these people want?
I am on the no call list as well.
They call at least 3 or 4 times a week. I'm beginning to think the DNC list does not even exist.
This is a collection agency. Their records are outdated because I settled the account the referred to almost 2.5 months ago. If they're calling you, you probably have a past due amt on a bill within the past several months.
Answered once before, it's a recording asking me to call another number.
The only people I know in the Bay Area are witches and I don't owe any of them money, so these fuckers best not call again lest they wish they hadn't.
925-776-2903 called my cell. Did not leave a message. I have no idea why they called. We have no credit issues.
This number showed up on my caller ID several times so I finally decided to answer (to tell them to stop calling) and got a recording telling me to call another number. I suspect that it is an attempt to get info on me for marketing purposes or sell me something. I am listed on the National Do-not-call list, but it does not stop them.
it was a message with an 800# to call... an "important call" I hung up.
These people call every single day at "least" 3x's. I called them and the person who answered the phone was a rude bee-otch!
This company called me via a recorded message directing me to contact a toll-free number. I called and was directed to a 10 15 15 800 National Directory Assistance line at $5/min. I did not call that number! I did block the original number and will be reporting them to my phone co.
I received a call on my cell phone from this phone number but no message was left. I am on the do not call list.
There was a recording that said to dial a 1-800 number for an important message. I didn't take down the number and just hung up.
I'm on the DNC list too but they called me.
who the hell do these people think they are they call non stop and I have idea who they are.
If my dog could speak, he would be angry about the number of times he has been asleep and this number calls our house. I don't know anyone in California especially anything by the name of Bay Area Credit.
This company called me even though I am on the no call list!
