Frank, you and others getting pelted with skip trace calls for others can send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one.

All: If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense. It grants you control of how you are contacted, the right to dispute debt claims, and the means to sue at low cost. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.

So this is Southwest Credit Svcs? There was a message when i left the answering machine on, looking for "Brenda" I'm not Brenda, and these scavenger debt collectors just pass the account from one agency to another, without checking.

Collection agency for NTTA

These people leave no question what they are calling about . . . they out right say they are trying to collect a debt. Problem is, I have never heard of the person they are asking for. They are ver abrupt on the message and I'm not going to call them back and alert them to the fact they have the wrong number.

Looking for someone who does live here. Called the number back and an operator named "Sharkey"?? said they would remove my number. Sharkey was quite the rude woman. I have filed a FTC complaint and a BBB complaint against these idiots.

they called asking for $77 in tolls from a rental car... which i did have, and they gave me the exact dates i rented the car. however, enterprise has no record of sending tolls to a collection agency and say my account was paid in full. i think its a scam because they asked for my credit card info over the phone and didn't give me a number to call back to confirm these charges after i talked to enterprise. "oh we'll call you back on wednesday", she said...

Recorded message claiming to look for someone never at this number. How do you get these people to stop?

2010-01-13 14:36:39 UTCJerry

Yes, they are a collection agency that is collecting on unpaid tolls from the NTTA.
The NTTA has instigated a process of extorting money out of people for supposed violations
of unpaid tolls. Seems they have fired all their toll booth workers and taken out all their
change slots so you cannot pay the tolls. Their signs say keep moving at the toll booths
and you will be billed for the toll. They then send you a bill with an admin fee of $25 for
each supposed offense based on Texas Statute 366.178. If you don't pay them they will charge
you with a moving violation with a fine of up to $250 for each offense. A real racket they have going.

This is Southwest Credit Systems. They call on behalf of the North Texas Tollway Authority. They often call and when you answer- they hang up on you.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
