They ring once and hang up. Beyond annoying

Call from Citi Card Monitoring wanting us to subscribe to a high priced plan to watch for anything crazy on our credit report and also offering a free credit report monthly from only one credit reporting agency. They do not take "No" for an answer so they will try to go through the whole thing again. The next time I told the women I am definitely not interested since apparently they do not understand the word "No" the first time and told them to remove our number from their call list.

Caller was hard to understand (sounded foreign) and led me through some b.s. about a credit report and credit monitoring . . . after verifying my name and address (she had the information already, so I played along), she then asked me to give my date of birth . . . I said "well, you guys already have that information" . . . she stammered, and said she needed to verify it for the credit report and credit monitoring . . . it's a b.s. scam, and I just clicked the phone off.

Female voice asked for someone other than myself...hung up...

I have received 4 calls today alone. The last two I asked for a supervisor and they hung up. I am Sick of this!

Citi Credit Mkt shows on my Caller ID and they are relentless. For the past two weeks they've called at least five times a day. I never answer.

Keeps calling everynight, called ID displays CITI CREDIT MKT. They are trying to scam people to sell items that they will not deliver or collect donations. I am not sure if they are realted but they say they get my number from CITI. So I guess CITI bank is selling customer information to these people. Probably also in on the scam.

Thay called 2 times a day

These people call my 90-year-old mother constantly and finally left a message saying they were from the Salvation Army and needed donations. What's the point of this crap? What are they trying to accomplish besides pissing us off?

It was Citibank again. They didn't have an answer when questioning the increase of interest to 23.99%. I've opted out of this multiple times, but they keep on calling back.

They've called me 7 times so far today and it's only 3:30pm! My phone has a "block call" feature, so it only rings once (they get a busy signal) but still, it's sooo annoying! And do these geniuses think this is going to make me want to buy what they're selling?!?!

Man on phone was very rude. He asked for my daughter. I told him we were not interested. He persisted in saying he will continue to call to talk to daughter. I told him I would report him. He said:"YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO'S CALLING". I said, I have your number. He said:"GOOD LUCK". He then hung up.

I've been receiving several (5 to 7) calls a day from this number for the last month or so but I refuse to answer. Yesterday they must have called at LEAST 30 times. I too, have been on the National Do Not Call list since it's inception. Either this is a scam company or the
'legit' (??? hah) ones have found a loop hole.

Followed directions found in this forum for being placed on DNC list, however noticed the recorded voice could barely contain laughter towards the end so I am doubtful it will really work. So tired of the hangup messages and multiple daily calls, auto dialers are the worst things ever invented.

We have received up to 5 calls a day from this 'toll free number' that we let go to voicemail. I followed the advice of the CK comment below and selected the option to opt out of this phone number marketing base. I then called the phone number on the back of my citibank card and also told them to opt me out of any marketing calls. Both said it takes up to 30 days, so we'll see.

CK and PM suggested calling them - I did, but the recording asked for my account number. I didn't want to give it so I couldn't do what they suggested. Does anyone know how to get around this?

They call at least once a day for the last two weeks. Some days it's at exactly the same time. We always let them go to voicemail and they never leave a message. This is getting annoying

These jokers have called my phone I don't know how many times in the last several weeks. I FINALLY decided to answer instead of letting it go to the answering machine. A woman actually answered, and immediately started screaming at her to get me off her list because I am so sick of hearing from them. She finally said she would do so, but then continued reading from some stupid script. I just hung up.

Claimed to want to activate an identity theft protection plan for $1 that would protect "all of my credit". Politely ended the call after I stated "I do not want to activate this feature." three times.

Ok Now This Citibank Scam Called a horrendous nearly 30 times yesterday! I'm really agitate, a filed a complaint with the FCC, so far this called again 5 times so far today.

I'm so upset. I just don't understand why are these calls are coming through the phone. I'm on the DO NOT CALL list FOR ALMOST THE PAST 6 yrs. I 'm on still actively on the list so I 'm really angry. But I got a new phone Panasonic DECT 6.0 w/ the BLOCK CALL feature THANK GOD!!, SO i CAN BLOCK THESE CALLERS, but the phone still ringers (only one ring) they get a busy signal. So today it is May 28 2009 11:50 am and they called 6 times so far today.

If it really is Citibank, why doesn't it show up on Caller ID???

you can opt out of their calls (or so they say). Call the number back. After the English/Spanish selection, the recording will say "we will call you back at another time." But, stay on the line, because then the recording says "to continue this call, press 1." You will then be prompted to key in your phone number and then you can opt our of the calls. It says it may take 30 days.

I just called the CitiCard 800 number (1-800-347-4934) after the tele-marketer called offering me the same credit protection plan that I received info about in the mail. In the middle of her sales pitch there was a lot of laughing going on in the background and then she hung up on me.

The guy who answered the 800 number says that Citi is not tele-marketing credit protection at this time and confirmed that I am on their do-not-call list. I told him that I had called the number back and the automated system identified the number as CitiCard. He said that he would turn the info over to their security division.

May be a scam or one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. Everyone should call the 800 number above to complain.

OMG they call during the day and evening...obnoxious...I just took PM's advice and registered on the DO NOT CALL list...THANK GOD! They were driving us nuts. THey are the worst for this sort of thing I have found....thanks for the instructions on how to STOP THIS!!!

This was a Citibank Marketing offer, as others have said. Call it back and press 1 to continue in English. You hear a recording about why they called. Press 1 again to add your name to their marketing Do Not Call list. Punch in your number and you are done. Well, you may get calls for up to 30 days. Unless you do this, they are legally able to contact you with offers because you are their customer.

I have AT&T callvantage voip telephone service. I can simply block this and any number. My phone no longer rings when the y call and the caller instantly gets a recorded message generated by AT&T "the caller you are trying to reach does not receive calls from this number" Marvelous!!!

It is a Citibank marketing call. I called them and asked to be put on their Do Not Call list. It should take 5-7 days. I hope they no longer call me several times a day.

Ok, Just thoght about something. The 800 & 888 or any toll free numbers must pay for our calls when we cal the 800 or 888 numbers, not sure the cost per min, but if all of us call every day on the hour or half our then this will run their bill up would it not. Then maybe they will stop or reduce the calling. You are just calling as they requested noting in the rules require you to speak fastly. What do you think? Maybe we should check with the local or state general attorney's office first. The telephone company that we use should offer us the option to block any number right. Thnks have a safe night.

Ok, does anyone know how to block the 800 and 888 numbers or any toll free callers. Most of the Id's are 800 or 888 Services so you are unable to ID the company who called. Thanks have a safe day.

They keep asking for my wife and I tell them this is she and they tell me how thankful they are to have me as an customer. I tell them ok thanks and hang up. Sometimes I tell them not to call any more and befor I hang up they rush out the words if you have any uestion to call a number they give you. Sorry I hung up while they are giving the number. Well If they think I am and others are such good customers why they don't just give us and extre credit limit incress or a reduction in our interest, and whay are they calling us during this hurricane time. This number has called me every evening asking for my son (college student) will not identify who it is and when i finally told them son did not live there, they told me not to worry about it.

Could not understand person on the other line other than Citibank and trying to offer me a "special deal". I was expecting an important call from my insurance company and answered the phone when this number came up. At least the insurance company showed who they were when they called back less than 2 minutes later! Who has time for this crap?!

called this number back today, it was some sort of Citibank Marketing offer and the recording said they would call back later. I continued with the call by pressing one and entered my phone number. It asked if I wanted to be added to their DNC list and to press one, I did and they said my number was added, but that it may take up to 30 days during which I will continue to received marketing calls. UGH, but at least they will eventually stop.

They call multiple times a day, every day. No one ever leaves a message. One day I picked up to see who it was that was calling and it was a Citibank Credit Card Protection service (I have a new account with Citibank) but they would not tell me anything, she was talking so fast I could not get word in, she talked right over me, very pushy, they wanted to rope me into accepting some sort of service, they wanted to send me materials, etc. When I questioned them on what my obigation was, and if I was not interested once I got the materials, what should I do, and she hung up on me. I called Citibank and found out that it was a card protection service, and they told me I was under no obligation. This number continues to call me at least once a day if not more often. I have picked up a couple of times, but they hang up. I am reporting them to the DO NOT CALL registry.

called back. after the recording, it asks if you want to continue, press 1. i did and it offers the do not call registry. you will have to go through a long ordeal with recording your name and address.

I just checked and my Sears Mastercard is actually issued by Citibank, so if you've got a Sear card, you're probably getting these calls.

Call the 888 number back, press 1 to continue the call, then they ask for your phone number, put it in and then you have the option of removing your number from their list.

Another call today even though we are on a do not call list! I called the number and got a recording that they had called about a marketing offer. There were choices to add our number to a do not call list but the recording stated that it could take up to one month. We are not CitiBank customers. I would really like to talk with a live person and tell them that they are violating our DNC.

I've been getting a call from them for the past 3 weeks or so. On my caller ID every weekday... sometimes twice a day. I'm a Citi cardholder.

When this number calls, it calls twice every time within a few minutes. My husband is a Citi card member and he refuses to talk to them. I answer the phone and they won't leave a message with me. I have tried to tell them he is not interested in any more than he has, but they won't give me the opportunity. So, its his fault since he won't give them the time of day that they call and call and call.

Because of the replublican party not allowing ron paul to become president we now screen all calls and no longer donate to charities or churches. we get too many of these calls plus survey calls about the election without RON PAUL as a choice.

Call came at 7:43 pm 2/16/08. we are on a do not call list and constantly receive 888 calls.

i called this # back. It said it was the marketing department for citibank. gave me option 1 to continue, option 2 to disconnect. pick option 1, you have to put in your phone # and it will ask youo if you want to be removed from the list. could take up to 30 days.

bozos called me at 9 am on a saturday morning. when i picked up the phone there was no one there. i waited for about 30 seconds for the caller to respond, but still nothing so i hung up. if this really is citibank, as some of the comments suggest, they better think long and hard about waking people up on a saturday morning with this bs.

Reading the other reports let me know the company the number belongs to and I also have citi bank card. If they want to continue calling then i'll continue to delete the call from my phone.Getting upset over it only upsets the one who gets upset,not the one who's calling.

My husband and I have been receiving this call all the time. They called today at noon(12/18) it comes up as the above number but they never leave a message. The call that made me the angriest was the one that came two nights ago at 7:45 PM!! I mean 6pm is bad enough but at 8-9 at night is just way beyond rude to me. I mean it's horrible anymore that we have to screen our calls because you never know who's going to be at the other end. The funny thing was I called the number back and they said that they were calling about a marketing promo. just recieved another call from them . Today however was different, someone was just left a message of breathing then laughed and hung up. I called the number back and contiuned the call until they asked if i wanted to be on the do not call list.

I am a citibank customer. This number will call me either very early in the AM or around the lunchtime hours. They never leave a message and will hang up as soon as my machine picks up. This is getting very annoying now. Is that calling and hanging up constantly how they handle their outgoing calls or did they just hire some very lazy telemarketers who don't like to talk to customers?

Any message from anyone I don't know is ignored(unless I called about a product and I know who they are). let'em call,doesn't bother me,don't care how fustrated they get if I don't pick up(I laugh at the messages). I am on the federeal do not call list. I do not have a Citibank card however I do have a Phillips-Conoco card which apparently is issued by these idiots. they supposedly discovrered that my card had been compromised in June or July of 2007 but did not notify me until 8/30/07. If they would spend more time notifying customers about potential card compromising schemes they would be a much better company and NOT A BUNCH OF MONEY GRUBBERS!!!!!!!!!!!

Been getting a ton of calls from these people. At least a few a day. Never bothered to call them back but thought I would check here to see if anyone else had.

I called the number. It was answered by an automated voice that said that it was a marketing call and that they would call at another time. There was an option to continue the call by pressing 1. Over the past 4 days, my caller ID has recorded 20 phone calls from this number. No message is ever left. I'm ticked off. I'm a Citi credit card holder, but I'm also on the Do Not Call registry. Urgh.

For the past week or two now, this number has shown up probably 3-5 times a day, sometimes more. I don't pick up, they don't leave a message. Neither my husband nor I is a citibank customer. Irritating.

If you have Shell card, you have implicitly given them permission to call you. If you can, do what I did, add the number to you list of blocked callers.

Since this appears to have been a marketing call and I've got no business with them, I filing a complaint with the donotcall.gov registry. I recommend you do the same.

I received a call from this number and when i answered they hung up in my ear....

I called the number back and it said that they were contacting me about a marketing offer. But then if you stay on the phone it will give you option to continue the call. Go ahead and continue the call and it will ask you to enter the phone number from which you received the call. Put it in. Then it will give you the option to put your number on CitiBank's do not call list. It was very simple and fast and I never even had to deal with a real person. It said that it can take up to 30 days for your number to actually be removed, so don't expect immediate results. Gets on my nerves though so I figured it can't hurt to try.

I'm also a CitiBank customer and I also have a Shell Card. I don't have callerd ID. I have to do a *69 to get the number. Perhaps I'll answer a few of them and ask them not to call me with any more offers/surveys ... whatever.

Do as I ,call your credit card company and advised them you will cancel your card with them if they can't control there telemarketers from calling you 5 times a day and after a few days it worked ,they stopped calling. Citibank don't want to loose money due to telemarketers offers and for the harassment got my interest rate lowered

By the way, I called CitiBank South Dakota today,
talked to a manager and got a promice to take my number from a list (it actually was unlisted business number).

Did not answer and they did not leave a message. Guess I'm a CitiBank customer, too, and didn't know it.

This number just started calling here a few days ago, right after we reported another harassing "telemarketer" to the FTC and FCC. Why does being on the Do Not Call List mean nothing? Why does going to the Do Not Call Website and reporting harassing calls do nothing to stop them? Why is it perfectly legal (according to the marketers' rep on the phone) for them to call us repeatedly to the point of insanity even after we tell them to stop immediately? Why doesn't our government enforce the laws regarding this abuse and protect our rights as US citizens? I am really tired of only having the choice of muting the ringer on my phones or tolerating this increasing abuse. Not fair choices.

First call recieved today at 6:56 PM. Have Citi accounts, so can believe this is a Citi marketing call.

From July 15 through July 24, 2007 I received 9 calls from this number. I use Parliants' PhoneValet for the Mac; it's recorded a 5-second message (empty) from each call. I am a CitiBank customer (Sears MasterCard, ExxonMobil) with no complaints about any of the organizations. I also did telemarketing for a while in retail computer sales. Just like the House Elves, I punished myself after every stint at the phone.

I have been receiving phone calls from this number for over 1 year now, often numerous times per day. My caller ID indicates "Toll Free Service". I never answer their calls and they never leave a message, which tells me it is a non- important phone call. I dislike and disapprove of their disrespectful persistence, intrusiveness and find these calls very annoying. I want them to stop NOW.

I have a Citi Card too. They are persistent. I told them if it's that important, then mail me something, so I can read it at my own leisure.

These folks have called daily (except Sundays) fopr over 2 months. Computer autodialers are sure persistant. As a matter of policy we don't answer calls that display UNKNOWN, or similar, in caller ID.

Citibank keeps calling me from this number. I keep telling them to remove me from its marketing list....they continue to call me anyway, each time saying it can take up to xxx weeks (or months) before I'm removed from its lists.

This has happened several times. I would get a call from 888-485-0975 with no one on the line, i'd hang up then a few moments later I would get a call from CitiBank. It's an automated service, i'm pretty sure they are just checking to see if anyone answers first. They really want my money ;-)

I get a call every day from this number! (For at least two months!) No one is there when I answer and they don't leave a message when the machine picks up! I called AT&T and they said they can't do anything about it!!!!!! I called the number and spoke to someone & asked they do not call again! And they are still calling.

Yep good ol citibank they are taking over everywhere,
Sears, Shell and several credit cards. If you ask to be on the no call list from them it will stop for about 3-4 months then will start back up. I tell them put me on the no call again. Or I just don't answer it.

I have received so many calls from this number, I can't begin to count them. From this site I now know these calls are supposedly from Citibank. I am registered on the "Do Not Call" list and I am reporting this number, today.

got a call from this number about some gas card. we are a block number and it is illigal to call us, the person was very rude and attempted to call again. they call again, and its an $11,000 fine for calling a number with no solicitation

3 calls just in the past 3 days. I have a Citi card, but I'm pretty sure I opted out of sales calls. I'm not bothering to call them back or answer to find out (that's why there's a mute button on the ringer). I just reported this call to DoNotCall.gov. I refuse to pick up on any tollfree # any longer, so too bad if anybody legitimately tries to reach me through an unnamed tollfree #.

Finally, after 20 or 30 calls from this number, there was a person there! She said she was from "ICP Group," selling the $12/month IdentityMonitor rip-off plan on behalf of Citibank, whose card I am about to dump. She gave the number 866-279-9637 to call in case I became stupid enough to want to enroll in the program. So that's the number you might want to call in order to complain about this harassment.

i called this # back. It said it was the marketing department for citibank. gave me option 1 to continue, option 2 to disconnect. pick option 1, you have to put in your phone # and it will ask youo if you want to be removed from the list. could take up to 30 days.

CitiBank with their blessing (?) can buy even the Federal Communication Commission and dictate whatever they want to do especially the privacy rights of every Americans. Unless the FCC will stop this untouchable telemarketing I believe this is the previous America that I live. I always received calls for more than a year now. And no time respect for us. For four days I have received calls from this number. When I answer no one answers. I tried calling back the number and got a message that this number could not be connected at this time. I just want them to stop calling or answer when I speak.

Have received an amazing high number of calls in the last couple of months. I have a Shell Gas Card (Citibank). Called the # and they gave me a recorded option to add myself to the "do not call" list, so I did. The recording said it was a marketing offer and it may take up to 30 days to remove me from the call list...so we'll see what happens.

On 12/22/06 at 4:45 PM 888-485-0975 "toll free call" called our house phone (Vonage) but when I answered there was no response. Immediately the same number called again and once again no response when I answered. At 4:50 pm my wife's cell phone rang and it was from the same number and again no response from the caller. I think this is harassment. When I googled the number I found this site which says the caller is our credit card, Citibank. I am very disappointed in Citibank!

numbers very annoying & intrusive. Seems like the telephone companies should be able to control this. I have at least 5 calls a day from these numbers. I don't answer either but this is just more telemarketing. This should be taken care of by the DNC registry but I think it's been overlooked by them.

I get phone calls from this number after 5 pm several times a day. They will only speak to my husband, but he works nights. The same woman (has slight Indian accent) calls every time and says she's from household bank and that we owe her company money, but we have never had an account with household bank. Then she wanted to know our address and our social security number. What government official do I contact to get this checked out?

These douche bags have called my house phone 18 times from mid-october thru today (nov 6). From the 50 callers on my caller id they make up 18 of them. That's fuckin' ridiculous.

I have found the best way to make these type of folks stop calling is to answer the phone, wait for a real person, and as soon as they start into their speach just tell them you are not interested and ask them not to call back.

If you avoid the call, their computer just keeps retrying your number "forever" so you might as well get it over with.

The DNC list allows them to call if they have a business relationship with you. If you do not, then you could still answer and ask them who they are and threaten them with the DNC list fines.

Yes, CitiBank of South Dakota was calling me (a member) to offer (something like) double points (more for Gasoline and certain other purchases) for three months at no charge... at which time I could opt to pay for continuing the program or return to the regular program. BEWARE: they did not offer this information, but I inquired what would happen to my 12-month super low interest rate after the 3-month double point "upgrade" offer... as it turns out, I would lose it and return to the "then prevailing" current interest rate! My advice - ask them to put you on their "do not call list". Think about it: why would they call you to offer you an "improved" program? It has to be in their best interest (not yours), if only to cover the expense of their telemarketers.
