Report a phone call from 8882979265
How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

I'm able to block calls on my cordless!!!!...Try it....it's better than reaming them an @#$$@Q% when they call!!!
Here we go again. Another day with the same number.
Wow.. this is so totally crazy they called over and over today while I had guest visiting. We were thinking of adding a song to the answering machine. Zippity Do Da Zippity eh... my oh my...annoying telemarketers go away!
The said they were with ACS, representing the some organization that gives carepackages to US Navy troops overseas.
When I asked them how they got my unlisted DNC-registry home phone number, one person said "I think we buy them from places like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc." and his manager said "we buy them from places like CVS, Kroger, anyplace you might have given your phone number."
I called CVS, and they said absolutely, for no reason, would they ever sell our number to any 3rd-party.
DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!!
This is JAK productions, John Abraham Keller, a dual citizen Israeli who also has his halfway house employees pretend to be police officers from the Va and Co police lodge to solicit your donations. Do some reseach and you will find out they give less then 15% to the actual police lodge. Isn't impersonating an officer a federal crime? Dont let your friends and loved ones get swindled by this Madoff like con artist, wake up!
I have received 10 calls in the last week from this number. They do not answer, do not leave a message; they just keep calling.
I received 15 calls from this number is a 4 day period. How rude!! They do not leave a message, just keep calling. That started last week, now they're starting again, 3 times tonight.
I've had 8 calls from this number over the past 4 days ............ no message, they just keep calling. What happened to the DNC list - I guess that's a farce too !!
none
toll free
I got a call at 5:00 PM 7/7/2009 from this number. I didn't answer and they left no message. I never answer toll-free before checking it out here, sounds like another "charity" scam. As for the DNC list, it works great but for some stupid reason CHARITIES do not have to abide by the DNC! I usually file a complaint against charities anyway - maybe if enough DNC listees did this the feds would get the message.
I received the pledge letter from the Navy Vet. Ass. The return address of their office was not far from my home. I took my GPS and went to the address in the envelope. When I arrived there were other businesses in that address but no Navy Vets. Ass. office. I had already called their number and left a message canceling my pledge because of information I found online.
Today they called again, I told the lady to cancel my pledge and told her I tried to locate their office but could not find it. She told me that the return address was a PO Box. and hung up.
I got a call from these people 7-1-09 and they were quite rude. When I said I couldn't give they slammed the phone down. I tried to call back but all I got was a recording! It's so RUDE!!
I called the number back and it is the US Navy Veterans Assn
I have a number that is on the do not call registry and still get annoying calls. It works real well. Thanks for nothing!!!!
I received the call at home asking if I would donate to the US Navy Veterans Association effort to send Care Packages to our soldiers. I'm a 25 year Navy veteran but had never heard of this organization, so asked the caller for the URL of the organization so I could do some research before donating. I wouldn't provide the URL to me, but kept trying to send me a pledge card. When I persisted in requesting the URL he finally gave up. He was not rude but was definitely intent on getting me to commit to a pledge. After the call I looked up the organization on the web. It is listed on the VA's website as a valid organization, but I'm not sure this caller actually represented the US Navy Veterans Association.
Looks like the DO Not Call registry does not block Organizations looking for donations as before the Navy started calling I had the Virginias Police Association or (VA COP
My number is on the Do Not Call list, and I wish they wouldn't.
I let the machine answer as always, they left no message
I got a call from these people 6-21-09 and they were quite rude, unfriendly and belligerent. When I said I couldn't give they slammed the phone down. I would never give to them because, according to their records, they keep most of the money they collect. I'd rather give directly to what ever association they say they are calling about. When these people call don't even give them the time of day.
I received a call today 06/21/09 +- at 6PM from 888-297-9265 (Navy Veterans Ass.) Since My husband was a veteran (42 yrs. of service)
I made a $20. pledge. After the call I decided to check the Internet and found this page. I called that number and left a message
requesting that my pledge be canceled because after checking online I saw many people were having problems with that number. From now
on I won't answer calls from that number.

My wife received a call this morning asking about donations as well. When my wife told him that she is a AVON Rep and she is doing USO Fundraisers for the troops, he said that we (USN Vets) send stuff to the Navy personnel overseas. My wife told him for $10 AVON will send $4 to the USO for entertainment and also send shower gels, deaoderant, bug gel to all of the troops in every branch. He got really upset and slammed the phone down.
What a bunch of scumbags (I would say something else, but kids read this as well) trying to take advantage of our troops.
God bless our troops and bring them home safely.
8:06 PM ON A MONDAY NIGHT.... Too bad I'm at work when they call...My answering machine says... "The number you have reached has been disconnected..."
Call came in 6:30pm Sunday June 14th. I did not answer and no message was left.
professional fundraiser supposedly for US NAvy Vets. Asked if they could send a pledge envelope to cover the cost of sending gifts to the troops in Iraq. When I said no they slammed the phone down. If you can afford to hire professional fund raisers then you don't need my money.
I PICKED UP THE CALL - A MALE VOICE ASKED IF I WAS MRS.WITHERSPOON?? SO, I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS MR.DOUBTFIRE??
HE JUST LAUGHED AND ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO DONATE TO OUR TROOPS OVER IN IRAQ??? I SAID SORRY I AM NOT INTERESTED IN FUNDING CROOKS/SCAMMERS TODAY--- NEEDING MONEY AND WAS GOING TO CONTACT LAW ENFORCEMENT ,HE HUNG UP---
VERY SAD THAT HONEST FOLKS ARE TERRORIZED IN THIS COUNTY WITH PHONE CALLS---- PRAY FOR SOME KIND OF RESOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM !!!!
PLEASE HELP US
hmmm
I answered, only because I have call waiting and everytime I am on the phone, which I swear they know when I am, they call. I wanted to get rid of them and I ask what they wanted and a female told me she was collecting donations for breast cancer research and that they do not collect funds over the phone. Never give info over the phone and, the best thing about a ringing phone, you don't have to answer it. If you have call block, use it, you pay for it. This number is now blocked from my home
They called last night, a holiday weekend, asking for someone who does not live here.
The number is on the DNC registry. I wish the feckless FTC would enforce the law on these criminals.
They call early and late. They speak rudely and/or just hang up. I am so tired of these phony pieces of crap taking vet names in vein. That is ridiculous. nothing but low lives. Navy Veterans association sucks butt.
My husband agreed to a $20 pledge for the US Navy Veterans Association. When a follow-up call came a week or two later---he hadn't sent in the money---he asked the solicitor what percentage of the donation would go to the charity, and was told 12%! SCAM!
We Did not Answer. Recognize the number from previous calls
We do not donate via solicitations on the phone.
It appears this is a SCAM organization.
Please remove us from the calling list. thank you.
Nedd to file a complaint against a threatening or suspicious charity solicitation in California? Here is the link to do it: ag.ca.gov
I keep getting calls from 888-297-9265, no messages are ever left and it's really ticked me off. I would never, ever, give a charity money. Their registered named is "Associated Community Services" (ACS). They are a Commerical Fundrasier For Charitable Purposes. In California they are registered with the states attorney generals office with 35 different charities. They have to file an annual financial report with the state and you can look at a copy of that report. For 2005 they raised $177,851.39 BUT their commissions/fees were $106,710.83. Go to justice.doj.ca.gov and enter their name "Associated Community Services" to see the all the charities, the list is two pages long - it will blow your mind. Go here to check out the new Charity Research tool: ag.ca.gov The charity they are collecting for is "California Chapter of the United States Navy Veterans Association". Go here to see their IRS form 990 to see how they spend their money - on commerical fundraisers & programs, services... navyvets.org
I worked at Non-Profits and saw how they played with the books with your donations, even your restricted cash donations. Did you know that they can suck the interest off your directed cash donation and use it for whatever they want if you don't word the gift in just the right way? Time & time again I saw it with estates and generous gifts made in honor of a loved one. In kind donations are the way to go. Find out what is really needed, that will service the program - say kids at the camp need basketballs? Give them a dozen. There is no way they can screw that up.
No message.
Have searched and have found no verification that this charity exists. Called the number back and it has been disconnected.
Conclusion: SCAM!
Its a scam! They are not supportting VETs anywhere. They are a Political Action Committee to help elect officials to do their bidding! NOT A CHARITY! Not allowed by CONGRESS to use the term VETERAN. Leave them out in the cold.
calling constantly!!! tired of it!!
Me: "Hello?"
Them: "Mr. xxxx?"
Me: "Yes, it is. Could you add us to your do-not-call list please?
Them: "Yes, ok."
End of call.
Call, hang-up, call, hang-up. This is very irritating. If anyone thinks this is a legitimate charity, they need serious help!!
Caller said he representing Navy Veterans Assn. and asked for a donation for care packages for our servicemen in Iraz. When I asked what size donation, he suggested a $20 minimum. When I asked would I find that he's on the up-and-up if I check him out with the Better Business Bureau, he assured me that his organization is registered with the State. He sounded very convincing and, after I agreed to donate the minimum, he transferred the call to a woman, who asked what form of payment I would be using; they wanted either a check or money order. Then, an hour or so later, another woman called from a differen number--248-351-6713--and wanted to insure that I would be sending the pledged $20. She didn't want me to make the payment on-line; she preferred a personal check, and she wanted to insure that I would mail it within 2 or 3 days of receiving the written request in the mail. How do I know whether this is legit or a scam?
Wanted donations to send care packages to GIs in Iraq. Sounds like a good cause, but I'm suspicious. They already had my mailing address and wanted to send me a brochure if I would make a pledge. Said I'd check out their organization first.
They called me at 8:30 this morning May 6 2009, the man on the line is so smooth. I also supidly agreed to give my mailing address. I called my state attorney general consumer protection office and they said to send the letter from this supposed "veterans assosiation" to them. Thier number came up as unavailable on my caller id. This is so fustrating. Next time I won't answer the phone.
This scam is the same group that mascarades as the "police officers memorial fund" I often get a call from both numbers within a few minutes. I can't believe there is anyway they are connected with any charity. Just pure scam! never give them any information.
just received a call fron 888-297-9265 may 5 2009 at 5:03 pm wanted donations for the navy...my husband gave our name and address. im not sending them a red cent.....who are these people?
They call numerous times a day. I've written, emailed, begged for them to stop. It's an embarrassment to our American soldiers to have people like this SAY they are associated with the Navy. I am visiting our Nation's Capital next week and may pay a visit to the Navy National Headquarters. They have called me for several YEARS off and on. They stop for a brief period of time, then start in again. I have caller I.D. and never answer, or will pick up the phone and type out ############# until they hang up. Doesn't help. They call back. We are not protected by the false sense of security of being on the DNC list. Nor are we protected by the FCC or our local phone company.
It is Navy Veterans Association. Never gave to them before and have NO idea how they got our number. They called at 0815 this morning. Called them back did not speak to anyone but left a msg to remove our number.
I asked them to put me on thier do not call list, they continued to badger me about hearing thier scheme. They tried to guilt me into donating money. When I insisted that they put me on thier do not call list, they said I already was there?????????????????
Recieved a call from them, they claimed that it was to help send goodies overseas to people serving in Iraq. US Navy Organization. I told them I had a First Sergeant friend and was sending goodies for his unit in Iraq, he hung up, no more calls so far. Sounds like a scam and I do have a friend in Iraq and have sent some goodies to him, directly through the US Postal service.
They just called me for a pledge, but it was UNKNOWN on my phone. Is this real or what?
caller identified himself as representing the US Navy Veterans Association , and said I could check out that group at navyveterans.org. I did just that while keeping him on the line, and browser returned a No Such Address. Caller hung up.
the phone rings with this number many times a day from morning til night and noone ever answers when we pick up the phone. Super anoyying and would love to find out who and why so I can place a complaint.
no message on recorder. we all need to go after the phone companies - we pay for our phone service and they should respond by protecting us from solicitation. scams they promote by allowing this to happen simply because they are receiving money from the people bugging the rest of us.
bogus fundraiser. says for navy. when asked questions got rude and defensive. they hung up. this is most likely fraud.
All I heard upon answering was a loud, high pitched sound.
1-888-297-9265
I, likewise, got a call from this kook. He insisted he was legit and finally told me to US Navy Vet. Assoc. website and make a donation there! I hate scam artists and telemarketers! Being on the DNC list worked for a while, but now there is a new automatic recorded scam that gives an option to press 3 to be put on their DNC list!
GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!
A very pleasant mannered man asked for help for the soldiers. He said that a letter addressed to me requesting a money order for $ 20.00 (I stupidly agreed) was going to be sent to me. He passed the phone to who he said was his secretary to verify my address that they already had.
What shall I do with this letter, should I send a copy to the US Navy Veteran Association for verification, or I think, proof that it it is a fraud? Usually I am very weary of suspicious phone calls, but this time, thinking of our brave men and women, acted naively! I
The caller identified himself as a member of the US Navy Veterans Association and was asking me to make a contribution. I told him that I pay a huge amount in taxes and that should be enough. I also told him that I do not trust any organization that claims it is a charity, particularly in the era of Bernie Madoff. I asked that my number be removed from their list.
I politely told this gentleman that I could not donate this year and he persisted. After a while of this he said to me "shirly a Navy Vet is worth $10.00" I found that to be very offensive. I am usually able to donate to a worthy cause, but this man was quite rude.
I answered which I usually don't do on TOLL FREE calls and they hung up.
Number on caller ID 4/6/09 @ 3:35 P.M., no message left.
I told him that I would not accept solicitation calls and to stop calling me
I got a call today, and they asked to verify my address to send out a mailer for a donation. Most of these types of "charities" give most of your donations to the fundraiser i.e. telemarketer. I'm skeptical. I guess I'll try that charity navigator
Kept getting calls from this number, listed on my caller ID as 800 Service. I finally answered and was told they were calling on behalf of veterns and wanted me to make a donation. I told them I could make a food donation, but not one of money! They haven't called since!!!
These calls are RIDICULOUS!!!! They call 3-4 times a day. I am sooooo tired of their calls. We have asked them to stop and they are still calling. Does anyone know how to get them to stop?
These guys call all the time, sometimes three or four times a day. Usually I ignore it, but would love to be "de-listed" from their call list. I've picked up a couple times to try to do that and there is never anyone there. I wouldn't donate to them on a bet!
Two days in a row - no one on the other end.
Claim to be a nonprofit organization raising funds for our veterans overseas so they don't get forgotten? ? ? ?
idiots
Receive calls all the time from this number, no one speaks when I answer and when I let the machine pick up they don't leave a message. I'm not a veteran, I don't understand why they are calling me.
I am on the DNC list but I iunderstand that it doens';t apply to registered charities.
I let the answering machine do its job....no message was left.
National DNC list is a false sense of security/privacy.
