Who Called Us

How many of you all are on Comcast or RCN type highspeed internet ,cable and phone bundle packages ??
I "think" it has to do with the id tone being lost in relay between networks.
When my Sprint phone is roaming near Tahoe I pick up "Reno pcs" my caller Id comes up

This # called me today @ 2:44 pm California time. The gentleman Tyler asked for my daughter and I said who is calling and he said Tyler with California Research. I asked him to remove my name off of the list. I said does it do it immediately, and he said I think so. So hopefully he gave me the right information.

calling about every two hours my home and cell. no one talks when i pick up. very annoying.

Four calls today. No messages.

Called twice in one day and left no message.

No answer on their end, reported to phone company as abusive if you have a fax machine on the same line cut it on and hit send fax when the phone rings. It will confuse the robo dialer they're using and that should stop the calls if not it will sure light up the ears of the fool on the other end with that ear piercing beep the fax machine gives off...LOL

Bank Of America has this on their outgoing caller ID. They want me to buy insurance. The number is now the newest on my "twit list".

How do I stop the calls?

Not sure what it is, but one idea is to sweetly ask if they will hold. Then put the phone down and walk away.

888-123-4567 calls numerous times almost daily. We have an answering machine/recorder but they always hangup before the welcome message plays out.

They call 6-7 times a day from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm. Why is this allowed? I'm on the dnc list, and even a collection agency can't call at 8:00 am

nobody responed to hello.

They wanted to "give" me free life insurance (for two months)...and then it would automatically revert to a regular insurance policy with a month fee (automatically deducted from my bank account --- how convenient!)

I picked the phone up and hung up. Am in Michigan.

I am in CA and these idiots call me everyday!!I am also on the do not call list.

They have called 2 times in the past hour, the first time no one said a word, the second tome I kept pushing buttons until they hung up...didn't take long!

This message is for anyone who doesnt know what to do when receiving these misrepresented calls.

DO get Names and legitmate phone numbers. At least a company name.
DO record the date and time.
DO tell the caller to remove you from their call list. Even if you have a business relationship with the company, they must comply within 30days.
DO NOT just yell at them to stop calling and hang up, its useless.
DO NOT take any excuse or No for an answer. Even NON Profits have to take you off the list if you ask them too.
DO complain to the FCC. fcc.gov . I have received a reply back on every company I complained about.
DO follow up or appeal that complaint with the FCC. The FCC may tell you that the company is exempt for one reason or another, but they are still violating the law by; using a fake number in their Caller ID; By not having a human or recording answer the phone with in 4 seconds of you answering; Claiming to be a survey company to establish a relationship that will allow their "Partner" companies to call and sell you stuff;. War dialing and "Dead Air" calls are illegal whether you are an exempt company or not. The follow up/appeal is a necessary step to enforce that action, otherwise the "exempt" claim is withheld and they get away with the abuse.
DO cut and paste these instructions anywhere someone will listen or other "who called me" type web sites.

Called several times. leaving no message, until I finally answered: selling (mortgage) disability insurance.

There is no one there when I answer and tried to call it back and it wouldn't even ring...but interesting about the jiffy lube thing...husband got his oil changed last week. am also on Do not disturb list.

Received three calls tonight, didn't answer it. Third day this week. Very persistent. Will add to my call block list.

I visited Jiffy Lube recently prior to these calls starting, as well.

This number called us 6 times one day and 11 times another. It was a sales call and we are on the Do Not Call List!!

This number began calling this past weekend, approximately 7 times. I didn't answer and no messages were left. This morning, after the second call in an hour, I answered. There was a series of "clicks" and "buzzes" and then the "busy" tone. I'm going to block and hope whoever this is doesn't begin using another number, as has happened to us in the past.

They still keep calling.

My husband visited Jiffy Lube recently too!

I have an answering machine. I screen my calls. Nobody ever speaks. I have received calls up to 7 times a day from this number. I have received 55 calls over the last 7 weeks.

called and made a mooing noice on my message center. kinda funny.

We've been getting 2 or 3 calls a day and they hang up before the answering machine answers. My wife answered it today and they asked for me. They wouldn't leave a message and said they would call back.

These people are driving me crazy. Will not stop calling. Have dialed the number and get message that it is NOT a working number.Go figure! I will try the wrong number scenerio. LOL.

second call today... didn't pick up.... comes up on caller ID as 800 service. they don't leave message...

I dialed the number twice on the ID caller list and it would not take my call back saying the number was no good

Hung up when it went to voice mail.

7 more calls since 7/19. They never leave a message. Tonight I picked up the phone & no one said anything, so I just said "stop calling!" and hung up.

Repeatedly calls. I don't even let it go to my answering machine, but just push the speakerphone button on and off.

They have called 10 times in the last 3 days, 3 times on Monday, 5 times on Tuesday & twice today. I have not answered & there is never a message. The number is not available to call blocker service.

That number has been showing up on my callier id at least twice a day for the past two weeks. I have not answered the calls. I want to point out that I have never gone to Jiffy Lube, my mortgage is not with GMAC or Wells Fargo, and I am on the do not call list.

Started getting calls from this number 07-12-07. Interesting that I just used Jiffy Lube two weeks ago for the first time, and have just started getting Wells Fargo calls. JL is definitely selling info; just too coincidental.

Obviously, the number is phony, and it stopped ringing after 3 rings, and thus never reached the answering machine.

Added them to my blocked calls list

The guy asks for my husband,I ask who's calling and he says "I'm calling mortgage customers from Wells Fargo Bank" So I say "Is there a problem with my mortgage?" and before he can say anything I immediately say "Is it past due?" He says "No Ma'am" and then I say "Then remove my name from whatever lists you have me on and DO NOT EVER call here again!" and I hung up the phone

They just called here but I didn't answer, so don't know who it was. If it's Wells Fargo, that's our mortgage company. If it's a political survey, just tell them you close your eyes and push buttons and say it without laughing.

Let me tell you why, I am a very political person and LOVE expressing my opinion so I did one of these surveys last year, right? Well, I consented to one! After I did that one, I got about 10-15 calls a day from people wanting me to do more and donate money! Umm what?! I told them that those candidates make more than me in a year, let them donate their own money and quit asking me!

Please don't call anymore.

I do not answer Unknown Name phone calls. They have called 3 times within 1 hr. I'm also on the National Do Not Call List. They hang up when the answring machine comes on.

It is someone who got my name from my mortage company - GMAC mortgage

We have been getting calls from this number quite persisitently lately. And yes, we do use the services of Jiffy Lube - not in the last 3,000 miles or so, and we have a GMAC mortgage as well.

Been receiving calls weekly from this number and usually never answer. Today I answered and some woman said she was calling from GMAC Mortgage. We have no association with this company and I told her we were on the Do Not Call Registry and to not call our number again!

They have called us almost 10 times tonight. We didn't answer the first 4 or 5 times because we never answer telemarketing calls. But after 4 or 5 times, we wanted to give someone a piece of our mind. But every time we answer, there is nothing. No one. They keep calling.

Went to Jiffy Lube for an oil change Sunday, now its Wed and 801 # is calling me??!!! 801-623-4629 JL must be selling our info to telemarketers...not good!

These people called again and this time said they were calling from Wells Fargo mortgages. I've gotten a call from this number before about a survey. I asked to be removed from their list and they said they would.

I added this number to my Blocked Call list and now they don't get through. I am also on the national Do Not Call list to prevent this kind of intrusion but lots of these calls do get through. I am in Alaska (1 hour behind Pacific time, 4 hours behind the East coast.)

Did not answer the phone and it hung up. Probably automatic dailer for some telemarketer/surveyor, etc.

I don't answer unknown name calls.

I'm in California. I received three calls from this number, as well as calls from 801 623-4629. These calls began after I got an oil change at Jiffy Lube. (I am on the Do Not Call List.) People on the 801 623-4629 thread also indicated that they had oil changes. I wonder if Jiffy Lube is selling our info to these political research groups? If so, is that the only info they are selling?

Never answered as I usually never do with 800 numbers.

Called today about some survey, told them wasn't interested.

No response when answered. Abuse these people when they do respond and they will quit calling, I promise.

Just to let you know they are active and on the West Coast now.

Kept calling and calling...seven times in one day and several times on other days.

kept calling for three days, would pick up and no one there, finally got person who started talking. Hung up after the words political survey.

Political Survey, called 4 times yesterday, 2 today.. told them they had the wrong number.. lol! Hey it worked, they didnt call back

this person persistantly asked me which issue i was voting for, even when i repetedly told her im on the do not call list, and that i dont care if shes "allowed" to call, DO NOT CALL!!
