I think the spoofing and NRA answers are both correct and this is 2 problems. For the people that actually talk to a live person from the NRA that is who called.
The second and pervasive issue is the number spoofing where any number that caller wants to present is spoofed and presented to our caller id's. If we spend our energy calling and complaining to the NRA instead of the phone company for not wanting to spend any money or effort in preventing spoofing numbers and many cases spoofed names.
The point I was trying to make is these companies spoofing numbers and hiding behind some numbers that make us angry at NRA and the like, When in fact we are paying for caller-id and the phone company is allowing the numbers to go through the system without actual verification of the true source origin. The phone company should not be allowed to charge for caller-id that is inaccurate many times and the companies spoofing should be traced, identified, and fined beyond whatever would allow them to operate or be profitable,
AT&T changed my number rather than tracking spoofed name and number and told me they could not tell beyond the fact of actual spoofing where it's origin was, Even with a police report and the culprit actually spoofing my name and number and many people calling me asking why I kept calling them.
I have placed the disconnect or no longer in service 3 tone SIT twice before my outgoing message on the answering system and this seems to slow this type of activity down the most of suggestions I have tried.
Not the National Rifle Association but a lowlife outfit spoofing NRA which can stand for many things. Add to my "Call Block"
Female caller asked to speak to my wife, mispronouncing her first and last names. It is not often that a caller has trouble saying "Pam".
I declined and hung up.
The telemarketers are "spoofing" your caller ID to make you think the number you see is the origin of the call, but it is not. They are hiding their real phone number, hoping you will blame someone else.
I called the number back and it is the National Rifle Association.
National Rifle Association automated call.
BE GLAD WE HAVE A CONSTITUTION! I AM!!!
if this caller IS national recovery ass sociates they are breaking the law by saying they are National Rifle Association as a front...... which I highly doubt.
Infocision calling for the National Rifle Association, looking for a donation to defeat gun control schemes in the re-elected Obamanation.
National Rifle Association.
Phone only rings 2 times then diconnects. Seems like harrassment. I have no creditors and owe no one. Grrrr....
National Recovery Associates = Bill Collectors - NOT the National Rifle Association.
They hunt people down through friends and family.
It's the National Rifle Assoc. Looking for donations.
Keep getting calls showing "800 SERVICE" AND THEN THE NUMBER 877-837-4130 is on my caller id, that coupled with other outrageous numbers, all day and into the evening. I am so sick of this. I believe the technology is available to control such but of course, phone companies do not care how much anyone gets harassed.
This is the National Recovery Assoc.a debt collector. They call from at least a dozen different numbers. You don't have to have any bad debts, if they think you know the location of someone they are trying to collect from they will call you night and day.
"MR." Obama is going to execute some secret E.O. or treaty with the U.N. and take your guns.
Are you afraid yet? The NRA needs your money, only they can save you.
I asked you not to call me, YOU KEEP CALLING.
It is "President" Obama, BTW. He is our President, have some respect.
Called the number back and they identify themselves as the Nat'l Rifle Association. They call us from 7 different numbers (husband is a member).
I'm not late paying anything. They have just started calling in the last two weeks----call about 3 times a day and hang up on the machine. . . . .
Toll Free Call
They seem to use a lot of different numbers. Keep adding them to my comcast voice block list.
