it is always a recording saying sorry we couldn't speak to you please call back even when i answer the phone. i no longer have a citi card i canceled it when i downsized and kept the ones with better interest rates
I have received three calls from them today.... I called citi card and they stated that it is the number for their debt resolution dept. I explained that we do not have a card with them, she did a search using the phone number and found that there was no acct. with that number. They said sorry for the inconvenience but something did not ring true in their handling of situation.
This is NOT citicard. Received a call identifying herself as "Denise at Citi"...calling about my "Shell account". When I told her I didn't have one, she asked for identifying information (which I did NOT give her) and offered to transfer me to the "billing dept"...told her I would call Citi myself and she offered to give me a number to call the "fraud dept". I declined, saying I could not verify that she was calling for Citicard since the caller ID simply said "toll free caller"...and I hung up and contacted the real Citicard to report the call for their records. Citi confirmed that no one there had placed a call to my home number.
If we do our own follow up and report these people to the companies the claim to represent, we might actually be able to curb at least a small part of these calls.
These idiots were calling me several times a day, finally answered, was some very sweet girl informing me that I was behind on my "American Airlines" card. I asked for the last four digits on the card and she gave me something bogus that didn't match my card; I told her this is bogus, asked for the mailing address associated with the card and she said that it was paid online and that they didn't have a physical address (Lol, what a joke: they'd still have my mailing address, you have to give this to them when you apply for card!). Asked her for the last 4 digits of the SSN, and she refused, citing "privacy issues". I responded, incredulously: "YOU called ME!!". I asked who the issuing bank was and she said "American Airlines"; I responded "No, dear...BANKS issue credit cards. American Airlines is not a bank; it is an *airline*." She then said it was Citi.
At this point I told her I was going to contact Citi directly; she offered to give me the number and I laughed and said no, I'll be calling the number on my card. I did, and Citi confirmed what I already knew: my card was paid in full, I have no outstanding balances on any cards, and nobody else had opened one using my SSN. She also confirmed that 877-587-5727 is NOT a correct Citi bank number and that these people were NOT affiliated with them in any way.
As others have pointed out: were you actually behind on a credit card payment, you would receive a physical mail indicating this, Citi is not going to call you up asking for personal info that they already have...also the Citi rep told me when they *do* call, they will leave a message and give you a valid Citi number to call. And hello?? These people are trying to solicit payment from someone who's supposedly behind on their card payments on another credit card??? Do you think a credit card company is gonna accept a debt payment made using *another* card? Not on this planet, they'll take a check, thank you very much; a credit card payment is always subject to chargeback etc. so a *real* credit card company won't touch that risk with a ten foot pole.
This is a scam, pure and simple, and the people on here saying otherwise are obviously shills for the company making these calls. I would recommend that if anyone calls you from any credit card company about a "debt', you hang up, call the number on the back of your card, and check with them. Also, take the time to report this number at donotcall.gov, it takes about two minutes and if they receive enough of them, they might actually do something!
CitiCard and I don't have a citi-card
They never leave a message! I think they want to activate one of their card! Three calls today!
They have been calling me at least once a day. I don't have any debt or credit cards for that matter. Plus, I'm not registered for anything in connection with CitiCard. :S
Yep, it's "Shitty-card!"
It's citicard. I had missed a payment to my Children's Place account, and they started calling when it was just a week past due!
Keeps calling with instructions to call another toll free number, 888-279-2426, about a "retail account." Based on other comments here, I'm going to file an FTC complaint against them.
this number calls several times a day every week. when I answer the person on other end refuses to say who is calling.
This Telephone # 8775875727 is one of about 6 or 7 that use 800 SERVICE as their caller ID. after they started calling about a month or so ago, I asked them to stop. they didn't. So now I have call forwarded all 800 SERVICE calls to a google telephone number that that answers with the noise of a squealing pig. At least, I'm having a bit of revenge against these fools.
877-587-5727 called and left a voicemail saying they wanted to talk to me about my retail private label account. They said I should call back at my earliest convenience and have my account number ready. I don't know what a retail private label account is and I don't have any credit cards, debt or unpaid bills. They told me to call 888-279-2426.
Zales credit card calling cause I missed a payment
These people have called me numerous times over the past week and have left a message stating that they appreciate my busy schedule, blah, blah, blah. They say they are from Citi Cards, and insist this is not a sales call, however, I need to have my account number available then I call back. They gave me an 888 number to call them back on. Neither my caller ID nor the callback number they gave me was on the back of my credit card. I had recently made a large purchase on my card and thought it might them calling to make sure that I had indeed made this purchase. Instead of calling the numbers they gave me, I called the customer service number on the back of my credit card and lo and behold, they had no record of Citi Cards trying to get a hold of me; that my account is in good standing. I have no way of knowing if another branch of them was calling, but, I am not calling the number they gave me to call and giving them my account number. The customer service guy I spoke with agreed with that.
Every day, 8:15am i get a wake up call from these jerks. i have the caller blocked, but it rings once anyway, then blocks...i do not and never did have a citibank card. i believe it is a scam of some sort...i am also registered with the govt. do not call list...i do believe that 877-587-5727 and 888-279-2426 are one in the same. i have three callers blocked with this same problem, but the 877 caller is the only one that constantly calls me every single day, including weekends. they need to be investigated, and i am calling the better business office to find out who the hell they are...these calls are a violation of my privacy and i will persue it.
I am a holder of several Citi accounts. One of my accounts fell a week past due when I had a family emergency. I was pretty sure it was them when I saw a toll free call was missed. However, they left no message. The next time they called (within the same hour) I answered it, but after saying hello several times, the line disconnected. On another occasion, I answered, and a recording said "Please hold while I connect you" and then I was hung up on again.
Feeling irritated about this rudeness, I set the ringtone for these toll free numbers (several different ones) to silent. They never leave a message, and they call at every time of every day, repeatedly in one hour sometimes. I would love to answer if I knew I wasn't getting phished or going to be hung up on. I would love to call back if they would just leave a message that identifies who they are.
So today I got a text message at 7:23pm that says "Please call CitiCards about your Fred Meyer Jewelers account 877-259-5778" So I called the number and a recorded voice said "I am sorry, no one is available to take your call. Please try again later. Goodbye."
Just to be sure this wasn't some scam, I looked up the credit services number for my account and called it. After entering my account info, I received the same exact recording. I am convinced that it is not phishing and it really is CitiCards calling.
I am also convinced that they need to get their ---- together if they want to talk to me. When I answer and they can't manage to connect the call, they have more serious issues than my $27.
Oh, and what is more - I submitted a payment yesterday to pay off my full balance and although I have a confirmation number and an email saying it would post today, it is now 8:30pm Pacific time and the website has no pending payment showing. It sure would be nice if I could reach someone to tell them...
Sorry for the rant.
ASKED FOR ACCOUNTS PAYABLE
This guy has been calling almost every day lately, including Sunday, sometimes twice a day. I click "ignore" on my cell, but a guy leaves a voicemail saying he is calling for "Citicards regarding your retail label account... this is not a sales call." Liar! I do not have any cards by that name. He gives the callback number 1-888-279-2426.
I am on the National No-Call Register. He should not be calling me.
calls daily at 820am like unwanted wakeup call would love to talk to someone from this number!
Radio Shack
I have no idea who this is. All my bills are paid up, yet they keep calling. So far today, they've called 4 times, but they don't leave a message and I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.
It is probably Exxon Mobil (Citi) calling because I forgot to make a payment. The new statement was generated today, so evidently they are having financial difficulties since they are already calling me up.
These people have been calling us two to three times per day. We are ready to give up our credit cards. We have had it.
