Congress needs to pass a law that once debt is past the statute of limitations, it is illegal to make phone calls to try to collect it - they could mail notices but they wouldn't because of the postage expense - that would stop these Portfolio Recovery hooligans dead in their tracks.

I was receiving calls at my 6 business numbers. Call the number back, wait for a human, tell them to take your number off their call list.

Received call @ 15:10 on 7 May 07.
Caller was NCO financial Systems.

Frequently receive calls with the same recording. I finally called the number back and was on hold for at least 15 mins only to learn that they were trying to reach someone else on OUR number. I called back ONLY so that we STOP receiving any more calls from them at all odd hours of the day and night (evening)!

Unknown man left message to return call. Number was not known so did not pick up. I am annoyed by these recorded calls and will continue to ignore them.

After three interruptions with their auto-dailer within a week, I wanted to so something that might actually help.

I called the 877 394-8289 number and within three minutes spoke to a Darlene. She needed the number their machined called so I gave her my number. She looked it up and it had been listed on an account with a name I have never heard of and is not simular to mine.

Darlene said she would remove my phone number from their list. Maybe this will stop the calls.

Yes, it was NCO Financial Services (formerly Risk Management).

If I continue to get calls, I will report them to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY as I did sign-up.

Since the recorded call immediately began when the answering machine picked up I only head a pre-recorded message requesting I call back to this number.

I have recieved calls from this number continous now fro the past month every day except for Sundays.

called a dozen times, called me about a bill for 1 day service from direct tv for $0.73 a bill that was mailed to me jan 19th, 2002 over 5 years ago. this is illegal and i called direct tv, they never put that into collection and into write off status, and directv today 5 years later wrote the 73 cents off. call your attorney general and file complaint

Been receiving constant calls from this number. I finally called them back, was on hold less than 2 minutes. Told them I was calling back b/c of message, but don't know what it is about. They said they were calling for X person. I told them I have had this number for a few years and do not know who that person is. They said they will remove number from computer autodialer. Lets hope I don't get called again.

I've been getting voicemails from this number for a long time, almost every morning... going to call it back for fun.

The business I work at will get calls from this number, the same pre-recorded male voice everyone else mentions. I actually called them back to request that they remove our number from their list. I waited for the "next available representative", but no one ever picked up. All I heard was silence, no hold music, no ringing, nothing. I tried a few different times, but no luck.

Since I was out of the house; and away from my coupter, I hung-up on them

Had a recording from the same number as everyone else, but since I didn't get home until 1 AM in the morning I figured I could call and get their message to figure out who they are. The message claims they are NCO, but if you access the directory services of the phone system it stills references them as Risk Management.

Dialing "**n" when you get the voicemail will allow you to get extentions and names of actual employees to talk to.

This has to be a scam. I am tired of these calls and NCO Financial Systems, Inc are NO HELP! The guy claims he represents their company.

Same story. However, I had the same problem with PORTFOLIO RECOVERY ASSOCIATES LLC., and I do believe that it is the same recording. I wrote a letter of complaint to my state Department of Justice, Consumer Protection Section. Portfolio replied that my number was removed and sorry for the inconvenience. Now THIS number and name starts calling!! UGH!!!

Update -- I have been removed from their list and here is the trick. There is a little-known calling feature called "distinct ring" that you can set. It actually utilizes a different phone number than your primary number. This other number is the one they were calling and why they couldn't find my number in their system. If you keep getting calls from them, ask your local phone company to disable the Distinct Ring feature and it should stop. As much as this was a pain in the butt and cost me literally a full day of my time, NCO was helpful in tracking down the problem and did return my calls (once I got through to the corporate office).

I have been receiving calls from this number for a while. The message identifies the caller as NCO Financial Systems, Inc. I finally called back and they were trying to collect a debt from someone, though not me. They said they would remove my name from the list. We'll see if that happens. I did a little research on-line and it seems that there have been many problems with this company and their debt collection practices.

They called this morning around 8:39am same story, did not identify who they wanted to talk to by name, and it was a prerecorded message. This is the 12th post ive made about about this caller and will be my 5th complaint to donotcall.gov

Have been receiving a "Call this 800 #" for about a year now. This AM received call from same voice saying it was a collection call and to return call to 877-394-8289. We have no debts and use no credit cards. When we buy something, we pay for it then and there else we don't buy it ...

Received unidentified call from this number on 2/14/07. When I answered, there is never anyone there.

Same call as others referring to a debt collection. After waiting for over 10 minutes on hold I was connected to a person that after asking my phone number said they were trying to locate a woman I have never heard of. I was assured that my phone number would be removed from the system

They called again this afteroon, this is now the 11th documented call on this website and the 4th complaint to donotcall.gov and have also been on the do not call list for over a year, and have a unlisted telephone number. This is starting to get very old.

I very mad about all these calls early in the morning or late at night, and hope that our complaints are being heard. To recap, I have have no negitive credit history whats so ever and excelent credit scores that was checked from all 3 credit reporting agencies within the past month.

I am on the phone with NCO Financial as I type. They obviously have some type of system problem, as we all are getting the same unwanted and in many cases illegal phone calls. I hope to help them figure out why this is happening so that it will stop. What a waste of time and money this is. Thanks to whoever put up this web site. It's the only resource I have on this issue.

Calls from the above number are getting tiresome. We have no debt that is in collection. I called the number tonight, got a recording to wait for a customer service rep,and she answered. I asked her name, she said one moment, put me on hold with music, and disconnected in one minute. I called again and went through the same rigamaroll. No answer after the recording, only music and five minutes waiting. I hung up. My husband said this has been going on for several months.

P.S. I have checked my credit report with all 3 credit report agencies and ALL show NO late payment, NO bad remarks, and all my scores are over 750. I hope something can be done againt this company, and hope somebody is listening to our complaints.

They blew it and called me again after a few weeks of silence after registering a complaint months ago on donotcall.gov Will now proceed to next step and hope they get fined. How can they still be in business when they don't ask for a person by name saying that I have a debt?

I thought something fishy was up I am not behind on anything I owe for and have a good credit score. I just glad to see I am not alone.

I got their message, the same message as everyone else. I tried to call this phone number and were put on hold for 15min and finally a real lady said "could you please hold for a second?" which put me on hold for another 5min and finally I given it up. Those guys are trash, don't even try to contact them. If there is anything important you will at least get a mail from somebody.

Like everyone else here, I have received numerous calls. Knowing I didn't have anything outstanding I ignored it, but after reading messages here I wanted to call in case they had purhchased some AT&T debt that was long since paid. The person I talked to was actually very professional (after I was hung up on once though). It turns out, the person they were trying to reach had my phone number many, many years ago and the operator helped get my number off their call list.

Sounds suspicious. Recording said that they were required by law to report that they are a debt collection agency, but they didn't actually use my name or say for whom they were collecting the debt. I called back, but it said that all circuit were busy. Phishing?

this number has been calling often...877-394-8289. have no idea who they are or why they say they are collecting a debt....call was on 12-4-06.they claim to be collecting a debt.06118 is our zip..

Received call at 3:43 PM,12/4/06. It is the 6th call from the same number, stating they are a collection agency. I have no idea what they are talking about since all my bills are current and never late.

Automated call. Never listen long enough to hear the message. Will not respond to a tape.

Rcvd msg 11/29/06. Recorded Male voice states it's a debt-collection call from 877-394-8289. No company name and no specific info provided. This outfit is making "debt-collection" calls to everyone in the WHOLE WORLD!

They keep calling wanting me to call back. Sounds like a collection agency but just get put on hold. I don't owe anyone. Must be a prank call. Can I block them somehow? Called several times over 2 year period.

They called again today, same as my earlier post they dont ask for a specific person by name, and its a pre-recorded message. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and it will also be the 30th day from when I filled the compaint from donotcall.gov

That's a complete scam and a violation of my listing on the DNC registry.

This is the third time I have received this call. Same as others report...recording of a man asking for a call back at this number. I want to know how to stop this from occurring again!

caller id "not provided" Guy said he was from a collection agency. Nov 18 @ 9:30 Wanted me to call back this number, it seems like some kind of scam.

These people called me yesterday, left a message saying they were trying to collect a debt. Like some others have already said, I do not owe anyone anything. I even checked my credit report, and owe them nothing!!
I've done some research, and it appears they say they are a collections agency for AOL, who I haven't had an account with in 5 years.

I received the call at 3:57 ET. Said to call back and that it was from some sort of collections place. Ignored them.

Looks like we're all getting annoying calls from this number. I have the same reaction, I have no outstanding debts, so I can't figure why I got this call.

Pre-recorded message directing us to call 877-394-8289 back. I have no idea who it is.

Male voice telling me I need to call this number. Did state it was a collection call but never said who they were. I have received several calls from this number. They don't call my main number but keep calling my Fax number. The Fax was off line this morning and that is the only reason I got to hear the message.

They have called me again, same deal, they don't ask for a specific person by name, and its a prerecorded message. I have already filed a complaint with donotcall.gov on October 23rd and today is the 14th of November. If they still call me on or after the 23rd of November, I look forward to taking the next step toward legal action.

Some one keeps calling saying it is in refer to a bill collection I called back and was passed to someone named tiffany and was left on hold for about 2 minutes I hung up

We recieve atleast 2 calls a week from this person. We will not return the calls. We owe no debt and we are tired of the calls and we are reporting it to the authorities as we are on the do not call list both federal and state.

I hav received calls for a couple of months now; and when I answer no one is there. I have registered this number on the "Do not call" website recently, and hopefully this will stop it. It's very annoying.

Recording of a man says to call back his number. Today there was FINALLY a little bit of information about the fact that it was a collections call. I've heard it's an agency that tries to collect on the Target Card, which I don't have. I've never bothered calling back to confirm, either, since the calls come to my cell phone.

Those idiots keep calling my cell phone. They call about 2-3 times per week. I have A-1 credit, I've never been behind on anything. I have had the same number for 3 years. Why are they calling me?!!

Info left by male voice was that call was from NCO Financial Systems and that they were required by law to inform 'you' that they are a debt collection agency. Same voice as many other messages except like most of you, this now identifies the company as NCO Financial and that it is an attempt to collect a debt (I'm like, WHAT debt?!?!) Like others, I am going to donotcall.gov right now to file a complaint.

The same male recording left a message on my phone at 5:30.They've calle dme several times before. No company or name left. If its a financial comapany, I don't know why they'd me after me. I'm not old enough to even own any credit cards.

Today received prerecorded call from them again, and this time heard a new intro stating they were from "National Financial Systems Incorp." And that they were a debt collection company, and the call is an attempt to collect a debt. Like another caller stated if its not importaint enough to use a real live person to call me, then its not importaint enough for me to call them back. I have no outstanding debts and excellent credit, in fact I checked my credit score this morning and it has gone up 12 points from last month! Has anyone tried to call them back and got a real human to speak with?

This number has been calling my phone a lot and I do not recognize it so I do not take the call. Sometimes I take the call and the voicemail tells me to call a 1-800 number saying it is an important call and not a sales call. If it is that important, then it should be in writing because I do not conduct business over the phone. The latest call left a message saying they are a Financial systems company and they are doing a collection call. I do not have any overdue debts from anyone. I did not conduct any business with this phone number nor this company. I have filed a complaint with the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY.

Another one of many messages left by this company, tried to call back at 5:30 when I got home, stayed on hold, got disconnected, called back, found out they were closed via voice mail-I have reported them to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY and sent them an email on their website.

10/18/06 Have received several calls w/same info as others on this list. No past due debts are owed. VERY ANNOYING!!

Today (10/18 @ 12:34) is about the 4th or 5th message I've received from this # and same exact recording as others have mentioned. I've always ignored them because they never said who they were or what they wanted. This time they at least said who they claim to be-NCO Financial. I have no debt so came to internet to see if I could find anything out on this. Not happy to have been getting such ridiculous messages but good to see there are others out there who have acted with the same rationale.

In looking company up (found out it is NCO formerly Risk Mgmt from calling them) they supposedly buy junk debt. However, some of what they call for is paid off.

Some stupid recording of a man keeps calling me to call back his number "(877) 394-8289". No company name and NO info reguarding the call. Is there a way I can get this person blocked? They keep calling several times a week, and no way im going to call them back. I don't have caller ID so I don't know what # they are calling from. Please advise.

At 8:25Am Received a call but was unable to answer it, it was of a Man stating to call him back at 877-394-8289 They do not say who they are or who they are asking for.

I have received messages a couple of times a week for several weeks, always directing me to call an 800 number. I have never returned a call to that number.

Was a recording asking me to call back, figured if it's not important enough to call "live", then it's not important enough for me to return it.
