These bozos call, at the minimum, three times a day...sometimes fairly early in the morning...seven days a week. Often they phone from the 866-433-9146 number, which has also been associated with DirecTV. My spouse answered once and told the person there was no one by that name here(my name)--the person did not identify herself, either. But "they" keep calling my land line every day. I don't answer. My attitude is that if the people/business phoning me is not willing to identify themselves via Caller ID, then I am not willing to bother with them. I did business with DirecTV (if this is them...which it probably is) a couple of years ago so guess they are trying to bug me to sign up again. No way, particularly since they have made it a routine to constantly bother me on the phone line I am paying for. I hate businesses that operate in this manner...

Canceled Direct TV yesterday. They called me using this number and another one 866-568-8850.
Never leave a message on the answering machine. Likely dialed using an auto-dialer, when they detect the answering machine tone they hang up.....I recently left DTV for BrightHouse (bundled, and a lot cheaper, PLUS I got DVR, Movie channels, and fast as hell Internet) and most likely they are trying to get me back...
I called DIRECTV today after they illegally debited my account for $700 unauthorized charge, my service stop working in January and they did nothing to repair service, i went to another carrier. When i asked them to refund my money, they said they could not until merchandise is returned, mdse had been returned so they said they would issue credit for $400, when ask for full amount they said it was for early cancellation fees. I strated service in 2005, way over 2 years, their answer well when you get new equipment, you are signing a new committment - I am so angry at this moment - i cant think of what i need to do.
From googling, it appears to be DirectTV. They've called several times this week. I picked up the phone but didn't say anything. Nobody on the line said anything either. Just dead air. They seem to call between noon and 3pm.

Direct Tv needs to stop calling their customers! The system they use hangs up on you after 10 after you answer. They are calling to offer additional services that you do not have, but what is going to happen is they are Pissing their customers off. Lets remember their are many other companies that offer the same services. I wish the so called Executives who come up with these ideas, might want to figure out that they are over paid for the their skill and knowledge! I was a Director of National Call Centers and Business Sales and I would never allow these kind of mistakes to ever happen. Yes "Direct TV" get your butts out of the board rooms and into your call centers and see the problems you are causing your self with your soon to be lost business!!! This call occurs nearly once a night around 8:30pm . If we answer there is no sound from the other end and it appears to be a computer-driven phone call. A return call to the number reveals that it is DirecTV, but the agent that finally responds seems to be completely in the dark as to the origin or purpose of their call. What could the objective possible be??
Thanks everyone. At least it appears to be a benign stalker - who has called me at least 14 times in the last week. If it's really DirecTV someone over there must have a busted spring in their head.

HA! I called it back. It is DirecTV. I just canceled them 2 days ago, over billing errors from the 3rd Party billing (service through QWest, which, btw, I dumped ALL QWest service for this issue) and now DirecTV is calling, and RUDE RUDE RUDE. Wouldn't even leave a message? Just hung up? That is a great way to do business. That makes a wonderful impression.
They called today around 5:15 p.m. My number is unlisted. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I called the number back and it said it was disconnected. They are obviously using a spoofed number to call people. Not sure that it would do any good to report it?
This number called 10/7/08 asking for dan, when I asked Sr. or Jr. the caller hung up. I already have Direct TV so I kind of suspect that it may not be them, or they have new personel and they do not understand the do not call list.
Call DirecTV at 800-531-5000 and tell them to take your phone number off their promotional calls list. While you're at it, tell them to take your name and address off their promotional mail list.
The federal Do Not Call list does you no good if you have a customer relationship with DirecTV. To stop these calls, call them and tell them to take your number off their list. Ask the rep for their employee number. They're required to give it to you if you ask for it. This lets them know you're serious.
Get multiple calls/day from this number. Finally answered and kept pressing 2 until I got an operator is Spanish, from DirecTV wanting us to restore service. Called DirecTV and asked to be removed from calling list since service has been canceled. They claim we are removed, we'll see if these calls stop.
They have called every day for 2 months sometimes twice a day. This is not only a violation of DNC it is "criminal harrassment." A class action law suit is the way to send a message to their Sr. Management . . . Proper business ethics should be a part of every corporation.
Caller ID always shows 'Toll Free Call' and the number. getting as many as 4 calls a day. Decided to answer and it was Directv calling me, an existing customer, to sell me the premium movie channels. I hope the call stop for awhile.
requested via phone 4/28/08 to be put on Do Not Call list, requested 4/29/08 in writing to be put on Do-Not-Call List. Received confirmation via email 5/1/08 "they received my request" and told it "could take up to 2 weeks". Received 4 calls on 5/2/08. Notified DTV, and this time requested their written Do-Not-Call policy, be mailed to me. Received DTV policy on 5/6/08. Received another call from DTV on 5/12/08 at 8:36pm. I'll give them the "2 weeks", and if I receive a call on or after 5/15/08, I notify FTC and file suit for damages as permitted by law.

This caller is really annoying they never answer the phone, they never leave a message. I have a toddler and an infant that go to bed at 7:30, these idiots are calling at 8:00 and 9:00 at night. They even call at 8:00 on Saturday mornings.

This number has called several times a day over the past several weeks. It must be an autmatic dialer that doesn't connect quickly because when I answer, no one responds. I finally waited for a caller tonight, but was so frustrated that I told him I was on the no-call list and not to call me again. I threatened to call the police and he said, go ahead. I'm sure I over-reacted, but how do I get these people to leave me alone? The phone rang again, same caller, less than an hour later.
I found a way to get them to quit calling!!! I answered the phone and (using an Asian accent) said "You food ready. Come now." The lady that called was just confused as heck. She was like "WHAT?" I said "You order food. You come now pick up." She said she did not order food. I just kept repeating "You food ready. Come now.". She hung up and they have not called back since. It has been 2 weeks! It was hilarious. My kids were laying on the floor laughing! It will be one of the stories we tell years from now.
This isn't direct TV. Its scammers. Filing a complaint does nothing. They have called me 652 times. I've files over 100 complaints. Nothing happens. They still call. The DNCR is a joke to them.
This was DirecTV trying to get us to buy back into the NASCAR Hotpass that is RIDICULOUSLY overpriced for what it is. They were very polite about it and we'll see if they call again.

I cancelled DirecTV service and paid off and closed my account with them months ago when I switched to cable. They call sometimes two or three times a day. I finally answered after finding out who it was and asked them to take me off of their list. They said they would. We'll see.
This is NOT Direct TV. These are phishing scamers. The number is just spoofed. Its a very common tactic for phisher. You can tell they are phisher because they call you every day. They are just trying to get your Direct TV info. If you gave them any info (all those who purchased the offered package), you better start checking your accounts because they are going to start syphoning money from your account. You can't do anything about it either, accept close the account who's information you foolishly gave out over the phone.
I know who it is. I've answered it before. They have about 4 of these numbers that hit me every week. All I do is answer it and then hang it up. That seems to stop it for the evening. They don't know which number they called because they are sophisticated enough to use a dialing machine. I guess the dialer assumes they reached me and there's no need to call back. I can live with that!

I am a Direct TV Subscriber. They call me several times per day. I am tired of this.
Ok.. As many comments made, it's DirectTV. I called their 800 531-5000, got their automated crap asking for your phone number.. i let it error out 3 times, then it asked for "why" you were calling.. I stated "Customer Service".. then it asks more detail, I just said "Promotional removal" (just made it up, probably didn't matter).. It then transferred me to a live person, told them I wasn't a customer anymore and was getting their promotional calls and wanted to be removed, she asked for my phone number I used to have an account with, she pulled it up and said she was taking me off their list for phone calls and snail-mail. She said it may take 1-2-3 days to stop as it cycles down to their call centers but it would be removed. You have to do about 3-4-5 minutes of work but worth it for the to stop! Hope that helps..

Direct TV called 7 times in one night. Every 15 minutes for almost two hours.
DirecTV. They call every other day. I was a customer 3 years ago and they are still trying to get me back. I've asked them to take me off their list and once the lady had the gall to laugh and say, "Yeah right" and then hang up.
Sundays are their favorite time to call. It's DIRECTV, which I have. I have never answered the call except by accident.
Some computer based call - seems to call every single day at the same time although last few days were really stange hours. No messges ever left.
Called tonight 12-05-07 7pm I have been a VERY happy DirecTV customer for 10 years - Yes I get a call about once every 6 months from this number to try to get me to try the movie package or sports - If I don't answer it stops ringing on the 4th ring (because they know most humans will answer by then) If I catch the call and answer and simply interupt the telemarketer and say sorry I don't want it I don't hear again for 4 - 6 months. On the otherhand if I don't answer they keep trying 2 or 3 times a day. - I am on the Do Not Call registry and have been since day two. But why stress - If it bothered me that much my phone company has a service which I subscribe to that allows complete blocking of up to 12 numbers - and it works great - I blocked the cable company's 800 number - and now I get junk mail weekly from them - you get it one way or another.

we get tons and tons of calls from this and other toll free numbers, day and night. They seem to happen more around the time of the month when our DirecTV bill is due, so we figure its them. DirecTV called almost nonstop for the first month of our service, just to "see how you're enjoying your service." Told them I'd enjoy it more if they'd quit waking me up all the time. And theirs always says TollFree Number. *shrug* we just ignore them. No msg is ever left.
I have gotten numerous calls from them. I have an account with them, it is not past due. I called them back and got to an operator, and had her remove my number from the call rotation for promotional calls. They are really nice about it.

It's DirecTV.... they call constantly. I have AT&T CallVantage VOIP so I blocked/filtered their calls. My phone won't ring when they call, no can they leave voice mail. All they hear is a message saying, "The call vantage cu has blocked your number..... goodbye.". I check my phone account on-line and these guys call about 3 or 4 times a day. DTV wants me back.... I switched to Verizon FIOS TV. Why would I switch back to satellite? Take the hint DirecTV.

This number shows up on caller ID regularly multiple times. The first call is identified as "Toll Free Call." When we don't answer, soon another call, same number, shows up as "Out of Area" on Caller ID. We do have DirecTV but are not interested in solicitation calls. They are persistent indeed.
The call was to make sure my HD Equipment was set up correctly to receive new programming. It was not a solititation call for me. Had me switch the program station to 499 checked the message on the screen and ended the call. If you don't have HD it is likely a call to get you to get it.

It's a sales call from DirecTV. It's also an automated dialer, which is why they never leave a message, and call so often.
Seriously, just answer the thing one time, and wait for the sales rep. When they start their speech, cut them off and explain you want on the do not call list.
Make sure you mention this list. Don’t just say you’re not interested and hang up the phone; they’ll keep calling you back.
It takes 2 minutes, and it’s well worth ending the harassment. If you’re never home when they call, call DirecTV customer support at 1-800-494-4388 and ask them to remove you. (Protip: Press the 0 button to get around the voice menu.)
And forget about the national Do Not Call list. If you’ve done business with DirecTV in the past, or are a current customer, they can call you anyway. It’s a retarded loophole, yes, but it’s a legal one.

I called the number 1-800-494-4388 (mentioned by an earlier poster to this site) and after some fumbling around with technical versus billing options (which one to choose?) I finally simply chose one of them to get into a menu series, pressed "O" (for Operator; sometimes this breaks you out of the "press 1" etc. loop), and got a human being. I had my account confirmed and then directly requested I be removed from the calling list, and why. It took longer than I would have expected to complete this process (~10 minutes), but I went through the whole drill. Lady was pleasant and apologetic. We'll see if this eliminates the problem.
They called, I said hello, and they hung up when I answered. I heard a little beep in the background, like one of those recording your voice beeps, then they waited 15 secs in which I said nothing else, and then they hung up.
I don't know if it is direct tv, but they have been calling a lot since I am scheduled for installation later this week. So it could be them, they do call daily.

I receive multiple calls from this number daily!!! It is very annoying. I am on the national do not call registry but that list does not apply to “not for profit” organizations. I really wish there was a list for charity solicitors. I give to the charities of my choice, and not because they harass me over the phone repeatedly.
called the 1-800 to be removed from the call list, IF you have an exsisting account they will screen the number and won't let you choose the new account option, so call from a different number and choose the option to open a new account, it is amazing how fast you will be connected to someone!!! Now lets see if my request works!!

It is Directv and it's a recorded message letting me know what the "previews" are for the week. I have repeatedly called Directv and told them to remove the number, but to no avail. It is so annoying because they are calling at night and during the weekends. If you subscribe to Directv, having your name on the Do Not Call List means nothing because you are doing business with the company..I already complained and that's what I was told. Now if you have no business with the company I would keep reporting them..they need to stop the calls.

I'm a directv client. These guys never stop. Even on sundays. It's annoying. I just don't pick up anymore. Of course they don't leave messages. that's abuse.
This number is on our phone everyday, don't know it is, but am on the "Do Not Call" list, so why are they calling, hmmm?
I asked that DirectTV escalate my call to someone who could fix this problem. I was transferred to a resolution specialist who took my information down and promised they would take me off their 'prospect' list. We'll see tomorrow.

I used Sunrocket VOIP and block these calls myself. They persist on calling but all they get is a busy signal. I've advised DirectTV that I have a record of these calls and will end my service if they continue after 5 business days.
Another annoying call, left no MSG again. Same #877 372 4388. I do think they know I work at night. A/holes woke me up three hours before I go to work. They call just to piss me off.

Telemarketing company currently being used by DirecTV to promote a special offer for suscribers.
They call EVERY day. Press the talk button and immediately the off button on the phone. You'd think they'd get tired of this! I giggle each time I do that.
I used to have Direct-tv. But, for financial reasons I closed my acct.Last week the green light on my receiver started flashing to let me know I had email. I unplugged the unit.Then the calls started.
I called the 8004944388 number talked to a rep, she said that the call I described did not come from them, or they did not have a record of any calls being made to our phone number. Our number was already on the no call list with them. Go Figure!
As noted before, this is DirecTV Direct Sales. Also noted before, if you call 1-800-494-4388 (DirecTV main number)and request they take you off the promotional call list, they will transfer you to their Direct Sales dept (If not, ask to be transfered) where you need to tell them to remove your name and number from their list.

Shows up on my ID as Toll Free Service. Was not home so do not know who it was.
Every Night at around 7-7:15 Mon-Sat. DirecTV. They used to call when I had service, still call now that I have moved and can't. Love the service, HATE the phone calls.
They call everyday, around 5pm EST. It can't be directTV, we have their service. They never leave a message.
What a bunch of jerks...I may switch to DishNetwork because of DirecTV's harassing phone call EVERY DAY, even after requesting numerous times to be removed from their promotional call and mail lists.
I'm on the National DO NOT CALL list also and this is the only "number" that keeps calling!! I am a customer also, but not for long if they keep this crap up! I pay with automatic billpay, so I know I'm not late on a payment and if I want more programming, I will call you!!!
They've called every night for weeks...I called the number and they said they took it off the list. The calls stopped for a few days but I just received another call tonight
Everyday, I come in and check the caller id, and its there. Even SUNDAY. Ridiculous.

I am a current customer of Direct TV so I guess legally they can call me... but they have never called me to advise of a service outage or anything like that so...
I logged into my Direct TV account tonite and changed my phone number to the local time and temp number... had to print and re-enter my billing information but if it recycles in three weeks hopefully my cell won't ring everyday at 5:20 when i'm trying to merge into traffic... if you don't have a local time & temp use mine 937-499-1212

I think it was DirectTV. I called 800 531-5000 and had them remove me from their promotional call list as well as the promotional snail mail...Hope it works :-)
It's time to cuss these idiots out. They call 7 days a week including sunday, and don't have the courtesy to leave a message. Am sending a message to Direct TV and also to their chair"idiot" for allowing this to happen. Also gonna try and get his phone(y) number....
I do not recognize this number. They call several times a day. I have not answered.
I screen all my calls and never had answered the phone when they call. You would think they would get the hint. Maybe if they didnt have their telemarketing in India they would do better!
My wife answered this number today, it was DirecTV, who we have service with. She agreed to sign up for all the movie channels for 4 months + NFL Sunday Ticket thru the end of the season for $10 per month. The person on the phone said the movie channels would be activated within 3-4 hours. 8 hours later I called DirecTV, and they had no record of any activity on our account today, or any record of that offer on our account. Very frustrating for us and confusing for the person I talked to tonight at DirecTV.
I called the 800 # and they said they had the ability and authority to remove me from the telemarketing list but the calls continue, though less frequent.
Just googled (877) 372-4388 and I recd this hit and you wanted to know. Unknown who the caller was no name shown..I didn't answer it.

I forgot to add, the girl on the phone said that technically it isn't even Directv, it is their telemarketers who are hired out...the list...though they are allowed to use Directv's number for callback.
I just called back for the second day in a row. It is Directv and they have added me to their do not call list, but they say they can call you even if you aren't a customer anymore unless I opted out when I cancelled my service.
That is their way around.
They said that they generate a list from 1 ot 3 weeks and once the new list is generated, I will be taken off, but not before then, and they feel they are in absolutely no violation.
When I wanted to talk to someone there about their crapy service, they put you on hold for hours and transfer you to three different countries, when they think your calling back to sign up for service, they answer right away, and still are trying to sell me service even though I tell them I don't want to talk to them.
Why isn't this a violation?
I get this call every day as well - always says "unknown name". I am also on Do Not Call list. Zip code 18018 Just received one tonight.

They call all day and all evening. I've never answered it except once when there was nobody on the line (I guess the autodialer got ahead of them!) I am a DTV customer and happily so; that said, I will be less happy if this is them. These people are a huge nuisance!! They have been calling as many as 10 times per day for the past 5 months...the phone is ringing right now!
Received calls on both 11/3/06 and 11/8/06. On the 3rd, I was putting dinner on the table and my 12 yr. old daughter answered. The caller wouldn't say who he was with or what he wanted...but he did say to her "Tell him to call us back as soon as he pulls his head out of his vagina".
I talked to a gentleman, and I use that term reluctantly, today 11/8 - he said he was with Direct TV. I told him that he or whoever made that call is in a world of shit and to look forward to a visit from law enforcement! If it is Direct TV, I have two reasons now to cancel the service - # 1 being signal disruptions every night between 8:30 and 9:30 PST...it's eerie.

These people call at least 5 times every day and never leave a message. I'm grateful for caller ID. I never pick up. Have been on the Do Not Call list since it began.
I get this number ringing me all of the time. I understand it is DirecTV. Funny thing is that I used to be a DirecTV customer until a few months ago and they still called me constantly while I was their customer the last five years. What a waste of my time and their money.

I called direct tv and had them remove me from there list and asked when the telemarking calls will stop. they said I would not recive any more calls starting as soon as I hang up well I got a call from them that night.
They call me every night now and hang up dead line.I hope the dish network has the science channel so I can dump these BUMS.
This is directv. My contract is up and they are trying to get me to sign up for another couple of years. If they don't get a hold of me they cancel my service even though I pay my bill on time every month. They just want to jack up my price so they can offer new customers better rates!! I almost hate them.

I hope that by telling Directv from their website helps. I've tried blocking this number, and the phone company (which also set up the install of DTV) will not block it.
Caller ID displays "Unavailable". They call often and do not leave a message. If its DirecTV, they have a chaotic system. I recently had to write the CEO to correct billing errors. I no longer use them and suggest that YOU DON'T either!
Got my daily call from these guys. I already have DirecTV, so I know they are trying to sell me a package. Since it doesn't cost me anything, I answer the phone and put it in front of my TV speakers until they hang up. Very very very annoying people.
My caller ID says, "toll-free" - I pick up but don't speak, nothing happens: Today I tried dialing it back:- it comes back with message, "616-877-3724 has been disconnected". What a gimmick!
DirecTV uses telemarketing like this very frequently. However annoying this is, though, if you have an existing business relationship with a company, they are not violating the DNC policies. See the exception list on the DNC FAQ:

My caller id showed Toll Free Servi. When I called the number back, I reached Directv. I told them they need to take my number off their call lists, that I'm tired of getting calls and getting hung up on and I'm not a customer nor want to be. I also informed them I'm on the DNC and they are violating it.
Everyday I also keep getting this call on my caller id It said Name Unavailable. Dates were 9-26-06, 9-25, 9-24,9-23, 9-22,9-21 and many more befoe I cleared the caller id. and I'm on the do not call registry.

It is a Direct TV phone number, where they call you regarding promotional items. If you want the call to stop call 1-800-494-4388 and request they take you off the promotional call list! I did, today!
If this is Direct TV, I'm on the do not call list, why are they calling? I'm a customer and pay my bills on time. This is annoying!
They call everyday even on weekend mornings! Never leaving a message and I'm on the DNC registry. I do have DirectTv and have read that other say it is them which only makes me madder. I have never answered their calls and it hasn't stopped them yet. This has been going on for 2 months now!
They have a new trick to try to scam their way around the National Do Not Call registry. They ask for someone else, and when you tell them they have the wrong number, they then try to get talking with you about DirectTV. Sorry, but I've had this number for 26 years and counting, plus our *number* is in the DNC registry. Plus, they tried this same scam last week, with the same goofball name.

I called the number to see who it was and blocked the caller ID. The number will not accept private calls and a recordinng told me to reverse the privacy.They have called several times.
It is DirecTV, they've called repeatedly despite my warnings to stop. I let my answering machine pick up now, whenever I see that number. Of course they won't leave a message but I'm sick of them. Maybe the idiots will get the hint if they keep getting my answering machine.

Everyday their number is on our caller id but shows unknown name. Have been on do not call registry since it began and have been reporting this number to no avail.
Get calls saying I am pre approved for their credit card offer, keep saying no thank you but they keep calling back, looking for personal info to "complete" my approval process.
