2011-12-28 21:28:49 UTCa sucker free

i received a call from these bastards, they claim to be from WELLS FARGO.... they said that I hadn't activated my debit card and that I should call them asap. I thought it was "fishy" because I hadn't asked for a new debit card...so like a a sucker I called them back and told them that I hadn't asked for a new one ...they then asked for my current card number....as I read the number to them...my mind was thinking this is so wrong.....so I hung up on them.....and called the number to my local branch for wells fargo... they looked up if they had called me to ask questions or anything of that nature and said no....so they determined it was a FRADULENT CALL......SO DON'T CALL THEM BACK UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET YOUR HARD EARN MONEY ...WHICH I HAVE VERY LITTLE TO GO TO SOME JACKASSES.......DAMN BASTARDS GET A REAL JOB!!

Got a call from this number today. They left a voice mail saying it was a call from Wells Fargo reminding me to activate my recently mailed Wells Fargo credit card. Fortunately I don't have and have never had any accounts with Wells Fargo.

This is legitimate - it is the same number printed on a new credit/debit card I just got from Wells Fargo, and is the number to call for activation.

BEWARE!!!!!!!The same thing that Stacey and Annie reported happened to me! When I called 877-294-6933, it went through the usual merry-go-round automated answering system, that DID legitimately appear to be Wells Fargo...but I stopped cold when "Gilbert" asked for my SSN. He was professional and reassuring that he understood, but insisted that would be the ONLY way he could help me see if someone had fraudulently applied for credit in my name.

Received a call from this number at 9:00 at night! No voicemail was left. No caller id.

I did not receive a call from this number. This is Wells Fargo, and this is the number on the letter when you receive a new or renewed check card/debit card. The letter and a sticker on the enclosed card told me to call to activate the card. When I called the number, the only information I was asked for was card number, and that was by an automated system.

Not sure why they would call. I've never been called for a card activation, and never been asked to give SSN.

This was a recorded message asking me to call back to activate a check card. I have never had an account at Wells Fargo, and I happen to know a branch manager at Wells Fargo who looked up my SSN and said there were no accounts. I believe this to be a phishing scam.

When I called back this number they requested my SSN to look up an account that I do not even have with wells fargo. BEWARE!

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
