Who Called Us

Discover card. I asked them not to call me and take me off their list, but they are still calling every day.

Got on the Discover website sent an email to customer service asking to be removed from their call list otherwise I would close my account. Received a reponse same day saying I had been removed from their call list.

The answering machine picked up this call. There was 12 seconds of heavy breathing, like an obscene phone call. Then a male voice asked for me by name, then the call ended.

Is this 866-402-1044 new way to scam people have cell phone? I'm receive call from this number very days and felt very disturbing.

They called asking for my wife's first name only... I asked who was calling and they hung up. The called a few hours later and asked for my wife's full, previously married name. My wife said that there's no one here by that name. Still don't know who called... Calls show up as "800 Service".

I called the number back and it is Discover Card wanting to tell me about an offer. I told them to stop calling me and she appeared to something on her computer and said that she took care of it and I should not be getting anymore calls from them. We will see!!!

you guys are retarded, this is obviously a SCAM to get your account number. I have Discover card and they are not as rude as these retards and I've never received legit calls from them..

I've been receiving calls from them every day or so for the last 2-3 weeks. I've repeatedly told them I'm not interested in their offer and to remove me from their list. They say "ok" and then hang up. I still receive calls (at all hours of the day).

For a couple of weeks now, twice per day. ON MY CELL PHONE!

I missed several calls from this number, and no messages. I finally answered the phone and a "Discover card" rep read his schpeil about a Discover Business account. When he was done, he did not verify any of my information, simply hung up. I've now received more calls, and on the times I've answered, there has been no response, or someone speaking some drivvel and then hanging up. If this is Discover card, these are the worst call center employees ever.

This number was Discover Card asking if I wanted to sign up for some new program they have. I said no and asked if they would remove my number from the call list. They did without any hassle, the caller was very kind, no big problems at all.

Many calls from this number this week - several times a day - refuse to answer since it will waste my time - thanks to you who have responded!

Have been calling in the past 30+ days. In the beginning I tried to answer but didn't hear anything when connected. Then one day I finally got to talk to a rep and he was doing a promotion. I refused and asked him to stop calling. But that didn't stop them calling again and again, usually once a day, sometimes twice. Now as a routine, I just reject the call right away.

Like a MILLION calls for the past few weeks.

About 5 calls from them. Didn't reply to the first four calls as i didn't recognize the number. Then, I answered the fifth call and it's a Discovery telemarketer... annoying as usual.

i emailed Discover through the internet and requested my name be taken off the do-not call list, and they emailed me back saying it was removed.

Just keeps calling multiple times a day! I've answered Discover's call twice in the past week or so and this things keeps calling. If I don't answer it leaves a long message of dead air on my voicemail.

Even if you talh to these people and tell them you're not interested, they will still keep calling.

That's because they are using an autodialer. Autodialer knows when it's an answering machine and does not connect the call to the telemarketer.

A rule of thumb---if somebody keeps calling but doesn't leave a message, at best he doesn't have anything important to talk about, and at worst (esp. for 888 or 800 numbers), he's a goddamn telemarketer.

They just keep calling, no messages left.

I get calls from this number upwards to 8 times a day, very early in the morning too. It is very annoying because I work night shift and come home and can't get any sleep without unplugging my phone. Discover Card should be sued for harrassing people with their calls.

These people call daily. The 3rd day they asked for my husband. I asked who was calling. They said "so and so with Discover card" I said just a minute.....when I returned I blew a whistle very loud into the phone. It still doesn't keep them from calling!

These people are driving me crazy.I have received 5 calls already today,the first one at 8:15 a.m. I dont answer,but have tried to call back,nobody picks up or the signal goes dead .

It is Discover Card. I called them after getting too many calls in a three week time frame and immediately the guy who answered asked if I wanted to be removed from their solicitation list. I'll have to wait and see now if they actually ahdere to it.

Geez. As soon as I googled the phone number they called. Just a big coincidence I guess.

They call about every 4 hours. I have Callwave so I never hear the phone ring (when I'm on the Computer)The computer answers the phone and I just see the number pop up on the screen. If they were to speak I would hear there voice, but they never leave a message, so I have no clue who it is. Seeing all the people who say it's Discover Card makes alot od sense because QUITE often (once a week) I hear the phone ring when I'm NOT on-line, I pick up & it's Discover wanting to upsell me on a card. Also of note.. I'm on the Ntnl Do Not Call List!

I have received a couple of call from these people today. I am not answering my phone unless I know the call. These people have called using 866-402-1044 and 866-402-1045. I guess they just keep passing my number to the next person in a cube. I told one person if they keep calling that by tonigh I will take all the number to my local police and file for harassment! I will give every name of the person who called!

It's Discover Card. When I requested that they not call me any more, the lady asked for my Discover Card account number. When I refused to give her my account number over the phone, she told me that she could not remove my number without it (that is one Bodacious Lie!! their scheme is driven by Phone Numbers - NOT account numbers). When I reiterated that I would not give my account number, she told me: "I work for Discover Card"

Sounds like a "Phishing Expedition" to me.

Same story as most - I have been getting calls several times a day.. I called the number today - the service rep was at least polite and professional- I was told the call would stop within 48 hours.

They have called 3 times a day for the last month. I called back once and got a recorded message selling Discover card - as the others I am also filiing a complaint

I called Discover to have them put me on their DNC list. They said it would take at least 8 weeks for the calls to stop. GREAT!!! Anyways, the reason noone answers your hello or there seems to be a long pause is because they use a system called a predictive dialer that randomly picks numbers out of the sky and gives them to the next available agent. The system is calling several people at once so you may get hung up on.

Sounds like you should call discover and tell them to stop calling.

They call me 2 or 3 times a day. I picked up once and they asked for me (sounded like a young girl chewing bubble gum). I heard lots of noice in the background. I asked them who this was and they hung up on me.

These people are calling on my home business line asking for my SISTER, who has a different last name, lives in a different town. Got very belligerent when I told them she does NOT live here, as I was hanging up on him, he said my name. They also call repeatedly on my residential line, I just never answer that line.

I wonder why the person who calls my house on this number does not leave a message if it's so urgent to an extent of calling 5+ times a day. Please stop calling my house or leave a message and we'll get back to you.

I've had 3 calls a day from this number for several days now. I called 1-800-DISCOVER and spoke to an agent within about 2 minutes. Before I could finish the sentence "I've been receiving 3 calls a day from..." she finished the sentence and said she'd be happy to update my "profile" to signify I should not be called with promotional offers. Very smooth and no resistance at all. It seems a lot of people are calling with this request... :-)

In all cases, the Caller ID displays "UNAVAILABLE" and no message is left on my answering machine. I never answer these calls and do not understand what Discover is hoping to accomplish.

The frequency of these annoying calls has escalated dramatically in the last couple of weeks to 6+ calls per day. On August 30, Discover called me ELEVEN times in less than twelve hours; this behavior is not marketing, but outright harassment! It's gotten so bad that I have turned off the ringers on my phones and am strongly considering getting rid of my Discover Card...

They called twice (12:44pm & 8:05pm) today saying they are Discover card. I asked them to remove my name from their list. they got upset and hung up on me.

I receive a call from this number several times a day. It's 10am now, and I've already had two calls from them.

They call and had two seconds to answer Hello to my Hi and when they didn't bye-bye.

They call 4 or 5 times a day. My answering machine says please leave your name, then they keep saying can I speak to Barbara even tho it's an answering machine.

Received a call claiming to be Discover Card offering me a upgrade to my existing account. Among the information I was asked for included birthdate, last 4 digits of my SSN, and my mother's maiden name. It sounded suspicious so I refused to provide the information or gave bogus info (shouldn't they already have the information since I already have an account with them?). I checked my call log and I've been receiving calls from this number everyday and I just happened to miss all the previous call.

Sick of this Company calling filing complaints everytime it shows on id!!

Even after telling them that I'm not interested in their sales pitch they call back the same day, even a few more times. This goes on daily. I've told them to take my # off the call list. They keep on calling. I'm cutting up the Discover card I have.

Filing a complaint

I've been getting calls from this number for several months. When you answer it takes several seconds for the connection to complete. They are pushy and obnoxious. There must be a better way for them to make a living.
