The collector "told you that before", Bro, because you cannot prove a verbal cease-comm. Send it USPS Certified and they're really on notice.

If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.

For the umpteenth time, the DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of "telemarketing". This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.

They said collections call. Call back ask for Mr. Woods. No reference account number or identification.

Debt Collection agency. Started calling again after a period of about a month since the last time, leaving a message to call back. I did and the person they were looking for was unknown to me. They said they'd remove the number and I wouldn't get any more calls. They've told me that before, but no doubt they keep turning up an old number for this dude and put it back in the bad debt record.

Every time you get a phone call report the phone call to the Do Not Call list and other agencies. Also keep updating these forums.

If you decide to call them don't give out your name since they probably have the wrong number. Make them tell you who they are calling.

If they know your name then make them put any debt they claim you owe in writing. Do NOT admit to owing any debt and make them mail you a letter first. If you get a letter it will probably be so vague that you don't know what the debt is for. Make them provide more information and they probably can't prove you owe anything or it is way past the statute of limitations. Even if you are honest and owe the debt these creeps don't deserve to be paid just because of the way they act.

Do not give out your bank account number, social security number or credit card number over the phone. They may try high pressure tactics to scare you and get you to pay over the phone but don't do it. It the conversation sounds even a little bit threatening file a police report.

Robocall asking to call them back, ask for Mr. Wo...something not clearly pronounced. Said they are 'required by law to tell you we are a debt collection agency.'

Debt collector with no reference to any account or business. Recordered message no person on other end

phone rang - been getting illegal harassing 'robocalls" with no human available - from sevral different numbers - mostly from a "debt collector" for a paid-out former debt far beyond our statute of limitations. No voicemail this time; no voice either. That's a criminal offense in many states.

National Actions Financial Services keep calling. I don't owe them any money and they keep trying to solicit money from me. When I ask the phone rep who this is, they refuse to tell me.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
