Who Called Us

In reading the messages below, this caller appears to be Bank of America... I've never had anything to do with BOA, at all, ever. They haven't called when I've had the phone turned on (it's an unlisted office line I have at my home and I only turn it on when I'm on call) so I haven't talked to anybody yet, just glance over and see the missed call light flashing. It is on the gov's 'do not call list', so what gives? Is BOA as big as our GOV to have it's own rules and 'do not call' list??? We have two land lines and three cells listed with 'do not call', and this is the only one they call.

April 17th, I received a call that was hung up from that # 8666-233-2773 shown at the screen as a toll free #.Its abusive that coming tired or sleeping this calls interrupts the home privacy. I hope there will be a way to stopthiscalls.

First of all guys this isn't Bank of America its a Third Party ( NCO Financial ncogroup.com in New Brunswick, Canada ) contracted by another third party( Aegon aegonins.com in Plano, Texas ) to do their dirty work. Some how BOA put in a misleading option to click when filling out one of their applications, that allows them to send Telemarketers to you. You were supposed to click this option if you DIDN'T want solitations. Legal, probably. Bad business, most diffenently. Good stuff BOA!! Anyway I have included some info about my search on this number, I should say numbers. If any of this info is incorrect please by all means correct me.

They call every day at least twice and hang up when anyone picks up or after the answering machine finishes they hangup and leave a dial tone message. Today was when I had enough. I received nine phone calls from them in ONE DAY! Now they say it will take up to 30 days to take me off the list!

Why are these peter puffers calling ???

I've been getting these regularly too. Looked at the prior comments and called 866-233-2776 to get off their calling list. If you own a B of A credit card or have a mortgage or bank account through them, they may be technically in compliance with the law, unfortunately. Our congressmen sold us up the river. The do not call list does not apply to "Existing Business Relationships." Combined with the Privacy policy that always includes "We share your information with our subsidiaries" they might be able to argue a business relationship with the whole family of Bank of America companies. I detest the fact that the recording you receive when you call back does not include the correct number to call, however. Slimy. Anyone find that the b of a do not call list does or does not work?

These people have called me every day for the past month. I got them on the phone once and told them I'm not interested, but that doesn't seem to stop them. Next time, they'll be hearing a lot more from me. I've tried calling the number back and it just says to "please call the number that was provided to you previously"... ?!?!?

Call 866-233-2776 to be added to Bank of America's Do Not Call list. This will put you on the Do Not Call List for ALL Bank of America companies, which is nice. Unfortunately, I called tonight, and it takes 30 days for this to take affect. Thank goodness for VoIP and call blocking service!

I called this number (866)233-2776 and had my home number removed from the Bank of America Insurance Services. Listen to the recording and it asks if you want to place your number in the B of A do not call list. The recording stated my number would be removed in 30 days from all B of A phone number lists. Let's hope this works!!! Get calls every day from them!

This scumbag called my 3 times today - as a violation of the FTC's DNCL. It would appear to be Bank of America from the other comments here - but when I call the number (not from my own phone) it picks up, is silent, and hangs up. To bad - was looking forward to leaving them an extra-nasty message. I guess I will just have to settle for filing a seperate complaint on the DNC violation website for each individual call. I really don't want them removing my number from their list - so each time they call me I can report the DNCL violation.

Basically have to yell "hello" in the phone for the person's computer to recognize that I answered the phone. When they asked if I was here (they didn't know they were talking to ME), I told them that person wasn't here at the moment and they rudely hung-up without a "thank you" or "good bye". I am on the "do not call" list... I wonder if I can get them fined....?

Called back. It's Bank of America. A recording will give you an opportunity to enter your phone number to their "Do Not Call" list within 30 days. So you may still get calls until then.

I tried to call this number back, as has been suggested, in order to remove my number from their call list, and it doesn't ring through to anything for me. It's just dead air. There were a couple of clicks on the line, but nothing (machine nor human) answered my call.

I have filed a complaint on donotcall.gov, although it seems from what everyone's been discussing, that since I do have a BoA credit card, they can f$&#ing call me despite being on the national do not call list to offer me insurance or whatever.

We get this call everyday, sometimes twice a day. We don't answer. Tried calling the number - no identity - said to call previous # given. I called the 866# 'problem solved' suggested. Hope it works.

This number calls several times a day. I do not answer, since I don't know who it is. But they are annoying.

Received 4 calls from this # 7/25/07 @ 9:55 a.m.; 10:38 a.m.; 11:26 a.m.; and 11:50 a.m. Talk about annoying. This is an every day event and has been going on forever. I do have a charge acct. w/Bank of America that I don't use but maybe I should cancel. Then again, if they are affiliated with MBNA, they could be calling to harass my son. This number comes up on caller ID several times a day for several weeks, then they take a break and start to call again.....always comes up unknown caller

Same scenario - calls from 866-233-2773 - no msg - calls at dinner time here. Called and opted out during the greeting. Takes 30 days to take effect. I do have a Credit Card with them so if you do - or have ever done any bus with them - they can legally call you. Don't complain - opt out.

ANNOYING as hell. Do they really think they can keep customers this way? I get at least 1 call a day, which also forwards to my cell. But yes, they CAN call you, if you are a customer. Here's an answer to that -- guess we need to all stop being customers!

This is Bank of America insurance services. They are calling me 3 times a day right now.

The problem is, as long as you have business with the, they can call. However, suposedly, if you request to be taken off the call list, they will not call again. Of course, it takes an automated system 30 days to remove your number from their automated call list, which in and of itself makes no sense.

The think is, as long as you have business with them, they arenot violating the DNC registry... That is, until you request to be taken off and the specified time they have allotted themselves to try to sell something has passed...

They called this morning at 11am Pacific time. We are registered on national Do Not Call Registry, so I not only called the 866-233-2776 listed here to have my number removed from BofA's list, but also filed a complaint with the NDNC Registry.

It's a Bank of America marketing company. They started calling when my husband got a new BofA credit card. They've switched marketing companies on us 3 times in the last 2 months. Whenever I get put on one "do not call" list, they stop calling for about 2 weeks, then start calling from another marketing company/phone number. They started calling last week from this phone number. They've called 5 times today.

I have received 8 calls from this number already this month. I didn't even track it last month it was so many. I work at night and it's hard for me to go back to sleep after they have called 3 or 4 times. I'm turning the ringer off and have my family members call my cell phone if they need me. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and the do not call registry.

This caller was from Bank of America, offering accident insurance. I asked for their DNC # was given 866-233-2776. I called it & registered my #. Recording said 30 days.

As I was writing B4, I have one BofA account, a "slush" fund type w/ less than 0.1% of our net worth in it. I am on natl don't call list, and have done the BofA don't call callback routine. Calls of these type are usually automated dialing which causes a significant delay between the Bank of America caller and "us". That is why we hear no voice the instant we pick up the phone. I'm printing the responses on this page and taking them to my local branch office and shoving it into their faces!!

These people call my home several times each day starting very early and calling very late. I called to get off of their list and was told that it would take 12 weeks!!!!!!!

Bank of America and their subsidiary, Bank of America Financial Services, which is headed by Keith Pellerin, are in violation of the law. The consumer is not under any obligation to call Bank of America and request to be place on the Do not call list. It is in fact the reverse, Bank of America is required to check the National Do Not Call Registry and if your phone number is found, they are required not to call you! I would say that if they call you, then file a complaint on this site and file a complaint on the Ripoff Report website!

For BoA to say that you too call 866-233-2776 to get removed from their system is a clear violation of Federal Law... report them to your Attorney General and report them to the National Do Not Call Registry...

The point is: Bank of America should not be calling you to begin with!

Bank of America selling insurance. I have 22 calls in two months, but my home phone FW calls to my cell so the bank of america computer stops, even they call at 9PM.

I have two credit accounts with BofA now that they've taken over MBNA, and they call me twice as often! The one that INFURIATES me is the stupid credit protection. The minute they say the word I just start yelling NO NO NO I DON'T WANT IT NOTHING YOU SAY WILL MAKE ME WANT IT. NO! But this time they called at 9am and woke me up from my night shift sleep to tell me about my valuable million $ in accidental death insurance. I said NO NO NO again... then they called back FOUR HOURS LATER! I told them to take me off their damn list, which I guess I did before but it only covered ONE of my accounts! They said that would take 90 days. If they call again, I don't know what I'm going to do... scream?

I was getting calls from 866-800-7993, B of A insurance. Calls were 6+ times a day. I formally complained to B of A and threatened to switch banks. Now they have simply switched the number they call from to 866-233-2773. I am done with B of A, I suggest the same for other consumers.
