Who Called Us

These people, from Premier Recovery, have been calling me for 3+ years. They are trying to reach a woman's daughter that used to live where I live now and have for the 3+ years. I have told them this and they still call numerous times daily and are extremely rude people.

These psycho idiots called me on something & I HAVE NO IDEA what they are talking about. it is NOT something I owe.. It makes no sense and it was the shadiest call I have ever recieved. I explained to them if i owe somehting I will pay it. The guy who called threatened me and was sooooooo RUDE & unprofessional. He wouldn't let me talk or ask him questions he only wanted to worry about me setting up a payment plan on something I don't owe. WTF!!!!!!!

Be aware that if you have a very old debt that was written off & you (or someone on your behalf) under pressure send as little as $1, the statute of limitations (7 years)starts all over again, which is the purpose of their calls, to reactivate the debt.

they called today (Sunday) and said that they were collecting for COBRA. In Texas COBRA is insurance. I do have a JCP card, but it's paid off. In have never had a carry over. But nothing was said about it, just COBRA. Any one else heard of this new scam?

Called me, then hung up. I called back, asked who it was that was calling my number. The guy said "Im trying to reach ." I asked what it was regarding, he said "Is this ?". I again asked what it was regarding in a more agitated tone (I am good at this, haha), and he then said "I see why you got hung up on," and then *click*.

When I called back, the recording may have said PRI, and I was unsuccessful in getting a supervisor on the phone.

They ask to verify a number. They are calling now multiple times all hours of day and night. They want to know how to reach my son .... I give out no information and they just keep calling back over and over again.

They never leave a message. The calls start at 8:50 am and don't stop till 9:30 pm. I have no idea who they are or how to make the calls stop.

This place is awful. They keep calling and demanding someone whom I have never heard of. They are very rude, mess with your head, and hang up on you. Should be sued for all they're worth.

I never answer my phone unless I recognize the number. These people have started calling me recently. I pull my credit report about every three months. I have not worked in eighteen months. I lost a credit card, but managed to pay the balance earlier this year. It was the only credit card I possessed. I have the good standing letter. I have applied to both KMart and Sears (Sears holding) this summer. I also possessed a JCPenney card nearly twenty years ago. I have read all your comments and I am clueless as to why they have started calling me. I will be pulling another credit report to see if I can figure this one out.

Agreeing with many posts here... Pull your credit report from all three bureaus, identify any issues that need taking care of, work toward that. I have been out of work and I am out of money. I saved enough to pay off my meager balance, but there was no way I could pay all those fees they place on top of the balance ("loan sharks" come to mind). I also took advantage of my poverty stricken situation and enlisted the help of Legal Aid attorneys. Even the poverty stricken have access to attorneys. Don't answer your phone until you are ready to handle this because that in itself will list you as un-cooperative/refusing to pay. When you are able to pay whatever needs paying, enlist the attorney to make that call for you and make those arrangements.

There is no excuse for this behaviour. I am a former collection agent.

These people called me agin today wile i was at work, i can't remember her name cause she was trying to speek so fast she kept messing up her own call. i just could'nt take it any more. i kept telling her to shut up, shut the fuck up. i said i don't give a shit what the fuck you have to say to me, but if you keep calling i will personally find you and fuck your life up.

They call at least 5 times a day. They have asked for every member of my family, including the two that haven't lived here for going on three years, but continue to call and ask for them. I have pretended to be my mother twice, once when they were looking for her, another when they were looking for my father, they talked about a JCPenny bill that was paid off and closed over 10 years ago. They are now telling me that I owe over $500 on a JCPenny bill, I am 18, I have never shopped at JCPenny and couldn't get a JCPenny credit card even if I wanted to. Intrestingly enough, my credit report proves it. This company is SO rude and abnoxious. Seriously, if someone calls me sweethard or babydoll one more time, I will contemplate legal action.

Thay Call all day long. As early as 7:30am and as late as after 10:00 pm.

I got a call from the number 859-655-7670. I believe the mans name was Joe. When I got on the phone he said he was calling on behalf of JC Penney. He said that they were going to start garnishing my wages. I did have an account with them 10yrs ago. However, the account was bought about 5yrs ago by another company and I paid it. he asked me if I knew I wasn't goin to pay the bill when I took the card. I explained I did pay it and that I have a child and all of my money is for us to live. He told me to borrow the money from a family member to pay him. I got mad then and told him I didn't owe him an explanation. He said he would mark my account as "Refusal to pay" and recommend they garnish my wages. I told him good. He, very rudely, said "Have a great day" and hung up. The worst part is my mom answered the phone and he said "Hey is Erin there?" like he was a friend of mine.

I've had the Flu really bad, and was wakened from a recuperative sleep by these pricks; so annoyed by this was I, that I took a tip from GPF, and Using Word, I created a 370 page document; each page the same, with white text on black background (to waste their ink,) and using SnappyFax...I bombarded their fax machine. The point is to annoy them, the way they've annoyed me. What I need now is an auto dialer. Heh heh heh. If all their victims did this, they might know what we feel.

Do not pay these people. If you want, pay your original creditor, but paying these people will not help your credit, particularly if it's already off your report. If they send a letter, demand verification of the debt and tell them to cease calling you. Collection agencies prey on the ignorant. Get informed!

These jerks are bullies who are trying to collect on one of many debts they bought and have often, already been written off. It's essentially free money if you pay so deals are even offered. It's my understanding that these debts remain on ones credit for seven years, and if after that time, you pay even $1.00 to these bullies, that it remains on your credit for another 7 years. Also interesting, is that it is illegal for them to divulge the nature of their call to anyone other than their victim; for to do so, comprises a "tort"; negating you of any responsibility to pay. You would of course have to have the conversation recorded to prove this violation. Which leads to the next point... When they call, tell them they may or may not be speaking with_, and ask for their full name. If they give it and don't hang up, tell them that this phone call may be monitored for quality control purposes. In any event, think of these guys as the bullies that they are; attempting to badger people into paying what they may not even owe, with threats; threats of leans and wage garnishments. These verbal threats are illegal; and in the state of Texas, the only wage garnishments that can be made- are for child support or for taxes. If anyone knows differently please correct me. What I have found to be true in any case, is that the ones who call us, often know no more about what legal or not than we do; and that if given the impression by their intended prey, that their prey has some knowledge- that this is often enough to either minimize or halt the calls.

I forgot to mention that the faxes I sent out, consisted of one large solid black rectangle (about 8"x10"), which consumed a sh*!load of ink or toner in their fax machine. I wonder how many cartridges I made them use up...?? Revenge is so sweet...

My ingenious solution to their ongoing harassment was to automatically fax a 35 page document to their fax number, non-stop, over and over for two days straight. It tied up their fax line for 48 hours, and likely used more than 2 reams of paper on their end. They obviously knew who was doing this to them because my phone number was printed on the faxes. A Man called around 7:30pm and I asked immedietley for him to stop calling. My Father has no debt. He said my Dad's name and I said no this is his daughter and I would appreciate it if you stop calling this number. That SOB had the nerve to tell me I needed a "time out". After saying a few choice words, I hung up. A 30 year old needing a time out..priceless. They'll stop at nothing for harrassment.

I'm glad I didn't answer this phone call. They have called 2x today in the past hour. Some have said they were going to BLOCK their phone number. How do you do that?

Called 3 times in 12 minutes today asking for my son...he doesn't live here!

PRI - Looking to Verify Information

Great... looking at these posts it looks like I am in for Hell. Yes, I do owe money, but not to any of the companies listed. I have never received any letters or anything. They started calling at 7:30PM and it is now 7:52--called 6 times in a 22 minute window. Perhaps they are scamming people into paying false debts? Their relentlessness maybe a way to get people to pay for these 'debts'.

Brian- you are so full of it. Obviously you work for PRI or for another seedy collection agency. I received a call from them the first time last week and now I'm getting about 10 calls a day. I don't owe money to anyone. My credit cards are paid every month and my credit score is over 760. For you to actually say that a person should just pay to get them to stop calling makes you a complete jerk and an obvious ruthless collector. Get a life. We're all here just trying to figure out why this horrible company is still in business and strong arming innocent people.

These people called, asking for a person I've never heard of. Wouldn't state why, and they hung up. I called them back and got a very nasty and peremptory woman who refused to say who they were or what they wanted and hung up.

They called, looking for someone and left a message asking him to call them ASAP because its important. I didn't call back.

Also, even if the bill was legit, don't you realize that perhaps a person is going through hard times and can only afford to pay for necessities such as food, shelter, utilities, and clothing? Do you think somebody is going to give a damn about their credit score and higher interest rates when they are in danger of getting evicted or foreclosed you fool?
What companies and debt collectors need to do is write off the debt and take the loss, and move on. Risk is part of doing business.

I've had my telephone # for 1 day and have received around 6 or seven calls from them that I haven't answered. They leave the same automated message everytime that someone gave them the # and that they need to verify some info. This is very annoying, maybe I should just get my # changed since it is so new.

They say I owe some money from a cedit card I had 8 years ago. But over those eight years the credit card company never sent me a letter saying I owe money beacused I paid the bill. These guy buy old debts and try to collect on them but most of their info is wrong

I think this is a scam, most comments state they called concerning a JCPenny card, I never had a charge card with them BUT I did have a GIFT card...strange...

hello. yes. premier sent an illegal letter to my employer wanting private information. and called my neighbors. however, i work for a law firm. now i a have a lawyer who is suing them on a contingent fee basis. has filed a suit against them. hurray for me. they will owe me more than they will ever collect from me. they are not licensed to do business in Texas. in texas you have to register with the SOS and put up a $10,000 surey bond. their website falsely advertising they can do business in all 50 states.
calculate the money damages this one will cost them.

This is my third call from PRI - collecting on an old credit card account of mine from NINE years ago. Today I spoke with Mark, who was rude from the very beginning of the call. He did NOT state that the call was for the purpose of collecting a debt, which is legally required. I informed him that he was collecting on a debt that had both fallen off my credit and is legally uncollectable. He mocked the information, asked me "what are you, a lawyer?" and hung up on me after saying "yeah right, well, we'll be calling you tomorrow."

In two short phone calls these people have broken many laws, and I suggest anyone else dealing with them document everything they say. I am calling my attorney today and look forward to seeing them in small claims court.

They called my cell phone number 11 times yesterday before 3pm, I do not answer calls from unknown numbers, they never left a message

they have called at least twice in the past week and have left a voicemail saying they are pri...not much information given; they did say the were wanting to confirm info..

They didn't leave a message on my phone. Just said, "Thank you" in a robotic voice. I heard typing and phones ringing in the background. I do not know how they got my number since it is UNLISTED! But maybe someone here can help me out? Maybe we can put 2 and 2 together and find out WHO is responsible for giving out our personal information and SUE THEM!

They are continually calling as early as 7:30am now, and just hang up. I have no idea how they got my cell phone number, but this has got to stop. Guess the Do Not Call List, doesn't work. Only way I can block them is to block all numbers, which isn't right.

They have been calling for about a month-- never leave a message. Used to call only when I was at work but now during the weekend. I assumed they were a telemarketer so never answered... I don't owe any money-so not sure what they are calling for-how do I block a number?

I just received a call from this person. I run a business and have had this number for 8 months now. I receive about 20 calls per week from various collectors looking for either one of 2 people. I tell all of them that this is a business, a new phone number and I do not know this person but they keep calling back. Usually they are polite and say they'll stop calling.

Today's call was much worse than most of them. First an automated voice came on when I answered and said, "Please hold. It is very important that we talk to you." Finally a guy came on and asked for Renee. I asked who was calling and he mumbled a name and then yelled "PUT RENEE ON THE PHONE!!". I again asked who he was and he mumbled the same name and yelled at me again. I asked what company he was with and I think he said CTI but I'm not sure. I tried to explain that I did not know this person and to please stop calling me. He said he wasn't calling me and that he was calling Renee and to "PUT HER ON THE DAMN PHONE!!". This person was very rude and aggravating. I again tried to explain that I get many calls for this person and I'd like to know what list I'm on that I keep getting calls but then he yelled at me again and hung up on me. Somehow I don't think this is the last I've heard from this jerk.

They have called looking for three different people during the past few months. I do not recognize the names. The callers are rude. I always ask to speak to a supervisor. Mostly, the caller hangs up on me. When I was finally connected with a supervisor once, he was even more rude than his subordinates.

They call twice back to back saying this is not a sales call but they were provided with my number and need my information. There company name is PRI.

They keep calling for a person that doesn't live here. I have asked them repeatedly to stop. They are calling 3-6 times a day. Have the calls logged. Person is very rude. I am ederly woman and my nerves can't handle these rude people who insist that I am someone that I am not. These people have been calling for 3 weeks solidly now. I have had my ph # for over 25yrs and do not wish to change it. Plz make them stop.

You can send them a registered letter stating that they are not to call your place of employment. Look up the credit laws as these guys are breaking them right and left figuring that people don't know any better. You have the right to tell them that you dispute their claim and they have to send you documentation of the claim. If they contact your family or your employer after they have contacted you, that's against the law. They can be fined $1000 for each offense.

They contacted a former employer asking for personal info, which was not given out. Now getting calls about owing over $7,000, and she's demanding $1000 now....I don't even have a credit card for the company she's talking about...very rude and she hung up, called back and said to have my lawyer contact her lawyer...they called again today and left messages.

They have been calling everyday atleast 5 times a day even weekends. They never leave a message. And when i answer i get a recording i should hold on for the next available operater.

Have no idea what these people are looking for. I don't pick up numbers that I don't recognize. I did have a JCP charge off in 1998. If they are looking for that $$ 9 years later, they can kiss my butt.

These a**holes called four times in two hours, looking for my ex-wife. They will lie to you and tell you that the person they are calling for gave them the number to call. Total BS. They will be rude and try to play mind games with you. I hope the person james that called me today,(If that is his real name) slides under a gas truck on his way home and tastes his own blood.

I keep getting calls from this number. My mom got a charge card from Linens and Things. Was a couple days late on the bill. They kept harassing us by phone and by mail. I finally returned a letter with check inclosed.. The letters stopped but these calls keep coming. It all started after my dad passed away three years ago. And it's continuing on. They call all day everyday... When I answer I blow a whistle in their ear.. and then hang up. They call back from unknown number. They are rude and relentless. I wish they would get a life!!

I have been getting calls from both of the numbers listed. They contacted my work. A co-worker told them to stop calling. They lied and told her that I gave them that number. This must be regarding an old JCPenny account that charged off in 2002. I noticed a new collection account on my credit reports for this. It's good to know that they are impossible to deal with over the phone. I'm sending a letter.

After being told that have the wrong number and the wrong person, they recited the SSN of the person they're looking for.

Called looking for a relative, told the person, I was not them, they hung up (as I was still talking) so, I called them back. The person that answered I asked him his name and he gave it.I went and told him whomever gave my phone number had no right as I am the one that pays the phone bill, and to NOT call this number anymore. If they do I will document and I will annouce that my phone calls WILL BE RECORDED prior to them speaking. If I continue to get these calls I WILL seek an attorney for harrassment.
