How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

For the last week or so, I have been getting at least one call a day from this number. Sometimes it leaves a voicemail saying "Sorry we couldn't speak to you in person, please call this number, blah blah blah". If I try to call back, I get a busy signal, or the same recording that is on my voicemail. I have no money owed to Citibank. I closed my accounts with them several months ago ebcause their interest rates were getting too high. All of my accounts were paid off when I closed them, so this is obviously nothing more than annoying marketing of some sort.
Fed up with the calls? Capitol Hill is responsible for this mess.
(Our crusty politicians).
Check out the link and see what I did to these credit card collections hogs.

For about 2 months now I have received a minimum of (4) calls per day from "Citibank". This call goes straight into my voicemail everytime. I am not late on ANY of our accounts and never have been. Spoke with three different reps from Citibank, they were each supposed to purge the phone number from their system... none have. Escalated this to manager, manager was kind and considerate but could not locate why we were getting the calls. All accounts are in good standing with NO LATES EVER. Manager called back to appologize again after researching but again had no answers. When the automated recording message says that they value our time I think its BS... here is a perfect example of why banks should not be allowed to outgrow efficiency! Between my businesses and personal banking, I bank with nearly every bank in existance. These issues and customer service locally and divisionally with these banks giving me the excuse over and over about it not being in their division is truly a MAJOR problem. One department (within the same group) has no idea about the other department or their doings. Finally, with the issues in the economy and TARP, the banks are now seemingly able to hide behind ANY "Excuse" they can and make up the rules as they go along. I keep tabs on the banks I have had good experiences with and the ones I have had bad with. Believe me when I say that I have moved ALL my holdings and transactions, business and private, to a CASH ONLY basis. I will keep it this way for the rest of my life!
called citicorp, they mentioned the number is used by AT&T Universal Cards, which they own. I have recieved 4 calls this week. None of my accounts are defaulted and I owned my number for 8 years now.
It is crazy!
There has to be a way to stop this kind of calls.
There creditors looking for their money but when they call 15x every day of the week its illegal. There are rules proteting consumers from this type of harassment. They are only allowed to call twice in the morning and twice in the evening but of course they break these rules every day. they have guidlines theyre supposed to follow and if they dont and you call and complain, they can be fired or fined. Look up FDCPA. you'll find that it says they cannot repeatidly call and harass you. I'll be filing my complaint once i can get March's phone log from my cell phone company to prove the harrassment.
The call comes in about 8:45am, at least three times a day.
No message left.
None left.
They've been calling for over a month.. once they start calling up again, they call at least 5 times a day & thats not including da times that we are not home! They usually call asking for some woman Gloria, other times they ask for someone named Asia or somethign like that...
WTF.. we've had this number for almost a year & no1 by that name has lived here, and i've told them that.. & what happens.. the next day they called me again, only that time, it was an Unavailable # & da woman was leaving a VM.. so i picked up & told her that i told them the nite before that no1 by that name lives here.. 2 mins. later, they call again.. I was PIST OFF, told them to stop calling or thati 'd report them, they hung up on me.. Two minutes after taht.. AGAIN!!! Will tehy ever stop!!! (that was last week)
This week.. i just talk to them in foreign languages.. hopefully they will stop!
Automatically answered by a machine saying 'We're sorry to keep you waiting..." then a person picked up and said This is Darlene calling for personal business and to call back on 800-274-4674.
They are Citibank creditors, you have to answer and wait for a representative.
This is from Citicards. They call 40x a day.. they start @ 8:30am to 8:30pm.. all day long its a recording
Been calling every day 4 times. Finally got a message yesterday after a week of this. The message was that of a woman with a sensual voice saying hello over and over and then finally kinda making a moan and hang up. I cannot believe this is citibank.
hung up when i answered.
They call about 3 times a day. I have never had, nor will I ever have a credit card with these jerks. So my guess is that they are just trying to get a person to give personal credit information over the phone. Not going to happen here! It drives me crazy that they call so often, but I getting real good at ignoring them!
They do call incesitantly and they don't care about your personal problems either. I lost my job a couple months ago. Have told them that repeatedly and they still call. I am a college student and am seriously thinking that when I get my next student loan refund that I'm going to be paying them off just so I don't have to mess with them anymore.
They call on a daily basis, several times a day, even on weekends.
Won't leave messages--even to say who's calling. I dug through my citicards online account and apparently I missed a $20 payment despite the fact they hadn't sent me a statement yet about when it was due. Can't they just add on the little late fee like a normal company? If I had $20,000 racked up and wasn't paying my minimum fine, but $20 on a balance of $36.74... wow.
Update-- Called while I was typing this. 6th time today... I finally answered and no one talked. Idiots.
Did it ever occur to any of you to call it back and find out who it is? Its citicard. Call them and tell them to stop calling the number. Or possibly your account is overdue for a payment. They don't leave messages for that sort of thing.
Same here, they just keep calling and will not leave a voicemail.

9:04 AM
6:05 PM
6:35 PM

Receive calls sometimes twice/day. Also from 816-820-1168. The message says that I can receive a low interest rate and to press 9 to speak to a live operator.
I was called more than 5 times a day for penalty about my credit account which does not exist. What can I do?
Citicards, citibank, they always have been and always will be a strong-arm dictator. They will sometimes leave a message,OR SO YOU THINK THEY DID,and it just turns out that the message connects you directly to them.I wonder if my cell phone provider should be allowing them to do so.I pay for my cell phone and shouldn't be subjected to this
creditors
sounds like people think this is likely a citibank sales caller - they call my house incessantly 3 or 4 times a day for weeks on end

Called me twice already after i reported my card stolen and closed account..
This number called my office number 5 times in 30 minutes. It was a call for a employee of mine. No message left. I called the number back, Citi credit card service center. The last call I answered, they asked for a particular person who works for me, I informed them that this is a place of business, they said they would cease calls, I'm sure they will call again.
Apparently they're calling me again (posted on this several months back)...3 times in the past 3 days, one a recorded message from CitiGroup regarding "something on my account and to call this 888 number."
Human called tonight, said she'd try again (wasn't home)...didn't.
Will double-check my accounts, but should be up to date payment-wise.
Called. Picked up. No one there. Called back again. No one there. Called. Did not pick up. No message.
Called work number 3x (hung up twice, then "Thank you for continuing to hold" message); then called and a person left voicemail - did not identify self, or purpose of call.

They call with an automated message to hang on
they've called me 4 times and leave a 3 second voicemail saying something about sorry to keep you waiting...when i tried to pick up on the 4th call they hung up. quite annoying
I do have one of their credit cards. I was over my limit but I submitted a payment and they still call. Don't they check their own system.
they've called me about 6 times this week. one time they woke me up and i answered but was too groggy to find out who they were. i just said i was not there :)
They call everyday all day and don't leave a message.

Called at 1pm and hung up.
6/6/07 - 6/7/07 5 calls from this number, no message left.
Yup, they are continually phoning me too and not leaving a message! ARGH!
supposedly citibank, but i'm leery of giving out my account info to a random automated caller...
They just called and when I answer the phone, they just hangup. Jerks
Calls me around 2-3 times a day. Never leaves messages. I do not have an account with Citicorp so I am unsure how or why it is calling me. It starts as early as 8AM EST.
I already told Citi Card when I could pay the bill, yet these people call INCESSANTLY. If I had the money I'd pay it all off just to get them to shut the eff up and stop calling.
i just got this phone and they wont stop calling me.
It's citi card...I defaulted on my limit and they started calling. If you just call it back it says "Welcome to Citi"
they call me 2-3 daily every weekday morning
They just called my work, Said hello several times but got no response. Hung up.
it's citi credit cards
The first time this number called me a message was left by someone who identified herself as melissa and I needed to call her urgently at an 800 number (that I don't rememb er) regarding "personal business that I have with her company"
Called to get in touch with one of their account holders named Timothy.
calls throughout the day and evening. no messages. very annoying.
I beat everyone.... I was 7 days late for a $25.00 payment to Office Depot, my balance was $26.04.....
Its a collection agent for CitiCards/ Shell calling to remind us we were 6 days late on a bill for $67. They had our correct name and acct no. No big deal.
1 Mar07
They have called me 5 times in less than 4 hours today!
Called me 3 times today without leaving a message
Hmm this is interesting. I saw this number on my cell phone caller ID. Now I do have a citicard credit card. But I think I will citi just to find out if the number was theirs.
They called and told me that I was late on a bank payment (I don't even have an account with them) and then they wanted me to confirm my banking information...I could tell the guy was bogus and so I gave him no info!
Called at 11:17AM on 2/14/07. Nothing on caller ID and no vmail.
Called me 6 times by 11:30 am and haven't left one message!
Recently, they've called and left recorded messages to talk about a Citi Card account (which I do not have). Called 800 number they provide in message -- and they claim no affiliation with Citi Card. Called the actual 816 number left on my cell phone and get a 'cannot be completed as dialed' message. They have also called in the past to speak to another individual about a loan from a bank other than Citi -- informing them that I am *not* the individual has not helped. I have also been called where they claim to be trying to reach a "friend." I don't know how my number got into their system, but it smells like a scam, fraud, or illegal collection actions to me.
Calls frequently; leaves no message.
Call 4-5 times a day and never leave a msg. If you call that number back you'll get citicorp. credit
Collection agency
They just hang up leaving no messsage
calls 7-8 times a day, citicard...no past due accounts...if not answered, they do not leave a message and keep calling back
They have called me several times in the past week, even very late at night. Don't leave messages. They got me once and asked for me then hung up.
This number called six times today, no message was ever left. I get the calls at work so if they are a customer they usually leave a message. Since they don't, I am not too worried. Calls occur throughout the day.
called my home phone, and husband *chewed* his butt for this consistent calling - evidently they want to sell some sort of card protection - then they called my cell phone twice later this morning. They just don't give up when told NO.
call several times a day...EVERY DAY
never any messages
Asked for Accounts Receivable then hung up
message boards are saying its Citibank ..citicards services
Seriously, these are some persisten a-holes. Three times a day lately. Horrible.
I have had this new cell phone for a month and receive this call everyday on my voicemail.
I think my number was reassigned from another person - and these calls are for them. Fortunately I can screen these calls via my Cingular website and not respond to them.
4 second Voice Message from 816-420-1169 on 11/16/2006 10:59:00 AM.
"Sorry to keep you waiting. We will be with you as soon as possible."
Mine is a work voice mail only number. (Reference the message here from NVA18) I do have credit cards with Citicorp. I also carry the ProtectorOne service on these cards. Accounts are not overdue.
Dear god these MF'ers KEEP calling even after I closed my fricken account with them after someone stole my wallet and charged up the card! I am now pursuing legal action against them but CitiCorp who claims to be by your side with fraud protection will stand as far away when this happens... what a bunch of BS. They call my cell and work number every 30 mins! Just so you all know if they are after you for $$$ its against the law for them to bother you at work!
just led me over here after calling 2X today on my cell...
