actually, we dont take sides, we're NEITHER with the democratic or the republican party. We're an INDEPENDENT research firm, and it's actually not us making the questions, it's our clients. We are only tasked to read survey question VERBATIM, and we get in trouble with quality assurance if we do otherwise. So pls dont blame the interviewers. We're not MORONS, we are actually professionals and MOST of are COLLEGE GRADUATES. we're anything BUT morons. THanks! :)

And just a favor, pls dont hang up on us once you've already started answering our surveys... yes, we know that sometimes our political surveys take too long, but really, just pls cooperate with us... :) It takes a lot of effort for us to keep our respondents on the line, only to find ourselves hanging in midair after a good 15 minutes of interviewing just because you hung up on us. :( It's not easy to get people to participate in our surveys and we do have PRODUCTION RATES for individual interviewers to look after so pls, keep your patience and let us finish our surveys with you... :) YOU WOULD MAKE US THE HAPPIEST PEOPLE ON EARTH.... really!

Yes, we are exempted from the federal DNC law... if you dont want us to call again, just take the call, inform the interviewer to put your number on OUR DNC list. and yes, it's correct, the system will keep calling your number unless you tell us to put your number on our DNC list since it's our computer calling you...it's random digit dialing, not manual dialing. Then again, it won't hurt if you guys just take the time to answer our surveys...it would be like a win-win situation, you answer our surveys, we stop calling you, so everybody's happy. Really, completed surveys matter to us... if we're not productive, we get kicked out of Western Wats, so pls, help feed the hungry... answer our surveys. :)

I just got a call from the telephone number above caller ID says it is Western Watts. I don't answer and have my answering machine off because I get so many goofy calls and I am on the NO CALL LIST don't understand why these calls get through what good is the NO CALL LIST if I still get goofy calls like this. I get so many calls from unknown callers toll free calls calls from people using a calling card that I don't know.

der 4rm some company called western watts wanting to do a survey, espicially if your a new customer for t-mobile to see how do you like their service, it gets annoying when your texting someone on your sidekick and they call out of no where and its annoying.

i've worked for western wats and its a market research firms. Due to connection problems, since we call through VOIP, u hear static noise or pushing buttons, etc. We do not respond on answering machines since its a waste of time and we value much to opinions of live respondents. We do surveys sometimes commissioned by the government, a party or an independent research for statistical purposes only. our redial system is automatic. so once you say 'call back at six' the computer (or program) automatically schedules and calls back at exactly the time you set for your convinience. We don't do prank calls since that's a sensitive company violation. When we call and nobody answers, the computer usually calls back by itself. The program won't stop calling unless there is a formal refusal from the respondent (or you, whom we are calling). We are headquartered in Orem, Utah. :)

It does not matter if your on the do not call list! Surveys, charities, and political, and people not selling you anything can call all they want get your facts straight or shut up!

When you get dead air is when the auto dialer is connecting to you and if you wait for a response someone will answer its not some conspiracy to find out when your home, its computer lag! If you don't know what your talking about you should not talk! The more times you open your mouth the more opportunities you have of putting your foot in it!

Western Wats is the largest survey company in the united states and all the surveys are confidential to both parties! Big companies, political groups and market research firms hire them to get important public views! Most of the employees are college students trying to make ends meet so if you care at all about other peoples lives and not just your own you will take the time to answer the 5-15 min. survey and help them and their family make a living,

I get calls from this place at least 3x a day...The reps are always giggling on the phone...please stop calling..the number that shows up on my caller id is 801-623-4630...What do you guys want?...I asked numerous of times to please take me off their callers list, but they still continue to call...

I have received a few calls from this number. The last one was at 9:24pm, which is past the allowed time frame, and it was dead air for about 15 seconds, so I reported it to the FCC and BBB.

The caller asked questions about the presidential election upcomeing. Call lasted about 10 minutes. Seemed to be Democratic driven. Asked me to self identify race. I live in Mississippi.

This is a "Survey" company, actually a shill for the Republican Party. They wanted to know my opinion of George Bush and I gave it to them....They didn't like that! Called at 8:45 PM. Didn't recognize the number so I let my answering machine take the call. Whoever was trying to call hung up right after the answering machine came on the line.

They called and noone answered. So I called them and it was a recording wanting me to participate in a survey.

This (and other similar numbers 8xx) call frequently and do not respond when I answer the phone. If there is not an immediate response, I hang up. Can the phone companies block 8xx numbers for me?

801-623-4624 called my mom this morning asking for me stating they were a rep from my cell phone carrier and they had a question regarding a credit card payment. I called my carrier and they stated no such call was made. I googled the number and appears this is a comapany that conducts surveys. So why would they have my cell carrier info and ask about a payment that I supposedly made??? WELL....... I reported this to my carrier, my bank and the police. By the way - Western Watts - good luck assholes. The cops are investigating you now.

Unsolitited phone calls coming in regularly throughout day. We have the advantage of having caller id and look at once at the digital readout.

Cannot discourage these phone calls. They hang up before our programmed message ends. However, it does alarm us to answer our phone in the event that this is a personal phone call from business or even yet...from elderly parents who may need assistence.

Received 10 calls in the last 2 days. Called my fax machine, so they must be just blanket calling. Found this site by googling the number calling. Hope that someone can get the home number of the owner and publish it. It would be so much fun to call them at home 300-400 times a day in a national group effort....

This is an indepent survey center that calls people at randon for a survey.

These people have been calling my house for months. Sometimes it gets better, but I know it's them because I start getting repeated hang up calls, sometime at 11 o'clock at night. I don't have caller ID, but after four hang ups today, I *69'd again and sure enough... the same people from a few months back. Why call if you wont even talk when I answer.

They have called 3 times in 2 days. First time no reply when I answered.Second time the answering machine answered it and some lady is saying hello may I speak to the man of the house.

According to my husband, who grew up in the SLC area, Western Watts is a telemarketing company that works various contracts. Three calls in the last few days . . . no one there when we answer.

After many calls ,I answered forign speaking male was taking a survay & asked if I was beteen a cirtin age told him I was older,he insisted there was someone here younger.I ended call.

Said they were conducting a "survey" about health care. They asked if I made all the health care decisions for my household (I said yes), my age (I lied) and if I had health insurance (I said no). That must not have been what they wanted to hear, because they said that was the end of the survey.

This is obviously a North American phone number and as some people have said here, it's for a survey collector in Provo, Utah. We've been getting calls from them recently too. Relentless call backs, sometimes 6 calls in an evening. The strange thing about this is that we're in IRELAND. We've been receiving calls sometimes as late as 9pm.

Caller ID said Western Wats--number is 801 623 4627--so maybe they changed the number, The phone company said I can dial *60 and then the number and it will block the calls from that number. I hope that helps to clear up the mystery of who is cluttering up your phone's caller log. Yes it is very annoying that they block their outgoing caller-ID, but that's not the fault of the poor young people working as phonejockeys. Don't take your frustration out on the people who call, because they're already frustrated themselves. If they had any career prospects right now, then they wouldn't be slaving away on the phones for a pittance over minimum-wage. Most are students who couldn't give a darn about what survey they are carrying out, and this type of work makes them develop a pretty thick skin, pretty quickly. They develop what I call "personality callouses" so any foul language you might hurl at them just washes right off (and your rant will likely be recorded anyway, so don't be a jerk!)

On a sidenote to Western Wats: why don't you change your outgoing caller-ID to say "survey" instead of "unavailable"? If I see "unavailable" on an unknown incoming call, there's just Zero Chance that I'm going to pick up. But if I see "survey" then I get the option to decide whether I'm not too busy to answer a few questions. I'm betting that you only get a few "hits" per 1,000 placed calls. If your caller-ID said "survey" then I'd bet that you'll double or triple your number of "hits".

Don't do one of their surveys. I wasted 30 mins.

I have been getting these calls since June of this year and they are presistant.
This website explains that the calls are done by what is called a "robot autodialer". If a telemarketer is available at the time your phone is automatically dialed by the "robot autodialer", then someone will be on the other end of the line but with thousands of phone calls being placed per minute by the "robot autodialer" you will more than likely never hear anyone on the other end of the line.

I have caller ID and an answer machine so if a telemarketer ever does come on the line, surprise, surprise, that person will only get an answer machine as I will never, never, never answer it.

That's why I got caller ID, so I can screen my calls. I know my answer machine will annoy the crap out of the telemarketers but hey, they annoy me and I see this as my only way to give payback to those pesky telemarketers.

I told her that there is no male of the household, and she asked if I was the female of the household and I told her I was. (I am married, but none of their business) So then she was going on and on about my age group are you:

Since I have started typing this I have received 3 more calls from different 1800 numbers (I am not past due on anything) these are kinda fun though because I like to make up stuff. I try not to take it so seriously because everyone has a job and they have to make money too.

I think it's interesting that someone mentioned that when they spoke to a person he said that he was calling on behalf of T-Mobile. I've had this cell phone number for at least 5 years and within days of switching to T-Mobile last month I began getting calls regularly from this number. I'm starting to think that it's T-Mobile who sold my number to telemarketers, or "survey" companies, and that's pretty crappy.

Each condition can be simulated by adding a custom wave file to the freeware "PhoneTray" application available at snapfiles.com . If humans have to spend too much time dealing with "false-positives", their operating costs go up and their dialers become less productive. Translation: You bother them more than they bother you.

i got a call from them and tried to make the survey more conversational. the girl with the funny accent said "would that be alright if we talk about it AFTER the survey is finished" or something like that. the survey lasted for TWENTY minutes. i started asking questions at the end. all in all, i think these guys would keep their noses out of our houses if we talk to them in a good way.

the number is one of many for a collection agency named Receivables Performance Management in Bothell Wa. Use your extra cell phone minutes to call their main numbers, let them answer then hang up. Everyone - be smart - play with them. Talk to them as long as you possibly can, feeding them whatever sounds reasonable, but just lie to them... then after 5 minutes, just tell them its all BS, laugh and hang up. WASTE THEIR TIME AND $$. If everyone did this, they would give up.

One of the simple joys of having a two year old is to hand him the phone when this number (or any other "Unavailable" number) calls. There's no wrong way to handle telemarketers/survey calls/political calls. Having a phone number does not give you the right to call it.

Re: Western Watts - One of your subscribers (cj 11-17-2006) associated this group with Western Research Company of Tucson, AZ. This is not correct! WRC in Tucson is a medical software development company and does not conduct any sort of telephone based research at all.

It was Carol Adams Surveys when they called us on this number...

I suppose they use an automatic dialer that hangs us after just a couple rings, so unless you pick it up right away the dialer goes on so as to not trip your answering machine.

Called and asked my young daughter how old she was. She just hung up and they called again an hour later. Kept mispronouncing my name, so I said no one here by that name. Just got this phone number...would LOVE to know how they got my name and new phone number.

1) Register @ donotcall.GOV
2) If they're calling you on your cell, add the number(s) to your phonebook & set the ringtone for THAT/THOSE number(s) as "silent".
That way, u won't have to hear it ring if THEY call again, and u would still get rings from other callers.

On my end it's coming up as a cellular call for the caller ID. I'm thinking they are trying to get around the caller ID by looking like someone you know since cell calls don't come up with the persons name. I wonder why that is in the first place?

They wanted to me participate in a survey but would not tell me what it was for. I did not answer any questions and asked to be removed from their phone list.

All who recieve calls from 801-623-4624. First verify the No. by using the *69 "Return Call" feature, then use the *57 "Call Trace" Feature from your Phone Company" after 3 traces, the investagitaging department of the bell providers will look into the traced calls, and pass it on to Federals...

Also, the reason you may not recieve a responce form this markiting firm is. The system they are using is faulty. They use pre-programmed "Pridictave Dialers" with millions of phone no's. The dialer calls a number, the person answers and a "voice decting function" called "Grunt Decetection"
alerts and connects the operator to the called party. In this case (I suspect), there software fails to detect the voice and the operator is not alerted, (they here no voice in there headset). That's why YOU are seemingly ignored, not because they are being annoying, because they buy a pice of crap dialer...
So listen one-and-all, upon answering phone calls, answer with no "Hello" just pick-up the phone, anyone important calling you will say "hello are you there?" and you will recgonose there voice... These Predictive dialers are waiting for a second "Hello" and if they do not here this, they ususlly terminate the call. I may not be able to spell very well, but I know my business, and that business is 35 yrs. in the tellecomm business!!!

It looks like Big Ed and his slimeball colleagues at Western Wats are exempt from the do not call registry maintained by the FTC. Here's what I found on the FTC website:
"Are calls from political organizations or calls soliciting for charities covered?

30. Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of “telemarketing.” Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $11,000.

31. What about telephone surveys?

If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered — that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry."

This is a voice-prompted survery from WEST or WESTERN RESEARCH. They've called my cell phone 5 times and home # no less than 4 times in the last few days. I filled complaints (online) with Indiana DO NOT Call and advise everyone to do the same. It only takes a few minutes.

I checked with "do not call websight" and they say to follow-up in one month caus of nurmous complaints. If this continues I WILL do what ever I will have to through the federal avenues to keep WW from calling anymore.

It's one thing to call and ask questions, but to call, have a person answer and then hang up,well???

The next thing I will do is refer this number to the FBI's telephone fraud division.

This just in...Big Ed's phone number is (801)373-7735. Give him a call...tell him you're conducting a survey on behalf of the 10,000 Americans that his company harasses every month. If he hangs up call back...maybe he'll get the message.

They called 3 times in the last 2 days, left no message. I wish they would stop!

This number called but didn't leave any messages. They called from 801-623-4624 one night at 8:30pm and from a simular number 801-623-4622 at 5pm the night before.

They keep calling at 8:30 p.m. and sometimes 8:30 a.m. which is odd...we don't answer calls that are unavailable or unknown. But it is annoying.

Received call from 801-623-4624 on 11-19-06 at 7:20 p.m. and 801-623-4622 on 11-13-06 at 6:59 p.m. Both calls hung up after I picked up the received. Both were marked "UNAVAILABLE".

They have called me twice today, it's sunday night now. How weird. Has anyone tried calling them back? Maybe its a trap! :) I definatly won't answer if they call again.

They call 2-3x per day usually 12-3 and 6-9pm (central time for me)
I've looked up their ad on craigslist for jobs in SLC Utah, the caller usually sounds Filipino (Pasig city is a mecca for callcenter outsources for US clients) I've asked to be removed but they still call (so far 3x per day for the last week) I finally got a person and they wouldnt provide any number or ID and I got their supervisor who gave the 8013737735 number but he offered to remove me from their list. They are research so may not be required to adhere to do not call lists marketers are. Frank Torrez was the supervisor.
Found more that Eric Craine is the CEO and western research co is Tuscon based.

This person calls me about 8 times a day, and the time always varies. Normally between 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm. I have no idea who this person is, and when I answer they hang up and if I don't answer, they don't leave a message.

This is some kind of a research/survey call. They have continued to call us now for over 2 weeks and they just called again ! No message is left. I found it this is a company that does surveys. Their name is WESTERN WATS. Go to their website at westernwats.com, click on contact us, phone 801-373-7735 listen for the prompt to have your number removed from their internal call list.

Called at 8:30pm Fri. 11/3, I didn't answer, as I didn't recognize the #. No VM, first time they've called that I'm aware of.

Called 4:40 pm EST. Bypassed my outgoing message by pushing "2", then just background noises recorded into my second (of three) mailboxes. Took a bit of playing with the receiver to get it to hang up and release my line.

Survey on the proposed "Channels" in Tulsa, OK, starts out as political survey then give the benefits of the project and asks if you are in favor. In the end asks your voting preference in the last election. Very one side, poorly done survey.

They called looking for the "man of the house" They did a poorly designed survey on his plans for the upcoming elections. It is unclear whether they were politically motivated.

They called last night from a different number too. Seems to be a market research firm called "Western Wats".

When they called I was on the internet (dial up connection), so they ended my internet connection, and then I answered, but they did not respond.

My boyfriend answered-they wanted to do a survey.They have called two nights in a row at around the same time, 7:30pm.

I don't know who they are, but they call 3 to 6 times a day.
