Seeing the comments below... I too am an AOPA member who just expired. This number calls me and has an automated outgoing message that doesn't even wait until the phone is answered before starting it's spiel. Tonight I answered and heard the last 10 seconds of it. It took using this service to figure out who it was from.

I answer this call but no one is there. Only goes to a dial tone.

Here is some more info as previously posted. sos.wa.gov. Note that they keep over half of the money they raise for charities. That is why they are so persistent. They also do a lot of political calling for the democratic party. Hiring people now for Obama 2012 campaign. How can they bypass the rules for DNC?

We are also members of AOPA with our membership expiring. This company contracts with AOPA. Called the number (801) 364-2345 and requested to be removed from the call list. Woman was very pleasant and professional and apologized for any inconvenience.

Multiple calls, multiple days, no message. Also am an AOPA member.

They also called about 9:15pm on 4/13/2011. I didn't answer the phone both times, and they didn't leave a message

A commercial fundraiser is expected to honor its own no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and "the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000."

I have received roughly 50 calls from this number over the past couple of months. Not once has there been anyone on the other end to ask for a donation to a worthy or unworthy cause. So I have to say to those that say this organization is just trying to make life easier by repeated intrusion into our lives...Really? Although I do agree that there are real people at this company who must have a lot of anger thrown their way many times a day. There calls have certainly made me feel angry. But when I call the number to ask to be removed from their call list I will treat the other person on the line as I wish to be treated. Maybe that sentiment will be contagious to all of us.

Whoever this is they call every day, we never answer as know we do not know them, they never leave a message. Wonder if they are violating the "Do Not Call" listing?

Following a link on a comment, I went to the website, clicked on the link to their "remove" form, but was uncomfortable giving all that information when all they should need is my phone number. Got a busy signal when I tried to call them a couple of times.

Area code 801 is somewhere in Utah.
They have called my number over and over. I picked up and I heard a couple of clicks and it hanged up. It finds out if someone is home and then calls back. I used the block feature on my phone.

I called the number back and it rang for two minutes before the call was disconnected. I called the corporate headquarters contact number provided by other posters and got a courteous young man who took down my number for removal. Hopefully they honor do-not-call requests, because they've been calling several times a day every day, leaving no message. Without Caller ID, I wouldn't even know they called, but when you get several missed calls from the same anonymous number, it's annoying and bordering on harassment.

Says "Pub Interest Co" on callerid. They've called almost every evening about the same time for almost a month, and it's when I'm never home. They never leave a message.

I have a call forwarding option on my phone service and added their number (801) 484-1107 to the list. Now when they call they will be forwarded to another telemarketing firm!!

Hang up calls from this number--several in the last few weeks. The caller works around my call blocking feature, so the calls are intentional. They hang up if I answer and hang up if the machine picks up. These people need to be prosecuted or have their business license(s) revoked.

Personally, I don't really give a shit if they have the answer for eternal world peace. Any organization that repeatedly invades my house with their annoying calls, regardless of the purpose, deserves to be the target of a flaming molten asteroid, leaving a massive hole where they once were and erasing every trace of evidence that they ever existed.

I once worked for this company. We call whoever they ask us to and read their script. We were hired by non profits that want high volume calling over an auto dialer. If you want off the list just ask and you will be marked do not call and do not mail. Whether or not you get taken off for real I do not know. We were taught to be persistent and give 3 issues and ask 3 times for money. You are on the list because of your interest in certain organizations and you donated and provided your info.

They call several times a day. I have call screening. I either don't answer, or, if the phone ringing is interrupting me, I pick up and then hang up.

I agree with previous statements. They don't just randomly call people looking for handouts. If you've donated to charities in the past why have such animosity towards them now? I agree, I really don't like them calling my house but I'm sure these calls generate lots of income for these folks so there's no reason to think they'll just stop calling people. They're "charities" that means: They take donations, from people and give it to others who need it. Answer the phone, be nice, ask to be removed from list. Make a note. If they call back, tell them again. It's one thing to be a jerk on the internet, it's another to be one in real life.

I called the Virginia phone number, 703-847-8300, to register a complaint and get them to stop calling and got a recording. Are there any real live people at that company?

These people call constantly. When I answer the phone - they immediately hang up, so fundraising for charities is clearly not a priority.

Don't bother calling 801-484-1107 to have your phone number removed. When I did this - my request was ignored.
Try 801-364-2345 to speak to a real person.

Theses a representatives of charities you have given to in the past or have signed a petition indicating interest in a particular charity. There is nothing illegal about this. You may be on the Federal "do not call" list however that does not apply to organizations you have given to or signed petitions for. You may want to ask them to not call you in the future and they will not. but give them a chance, if you wish to make a donation they are making it easy for you and for the charity you support. You may find them to be rather aggressive about trying to raise money, do you blame them? look at who they are raising money for. The callers are doing the hard work for the charities that you love because NO ONE ELSE WILL. They are human beings doing a job that needs to be done, there is no reason to abuse them. Would you rather that your charity sit around and wait for money to come in or maybe use the money that you gave from the bottom of your heart to print up costly mailers to send to people that might just throw it away as junk mail? Save the abuse for tele'marketers selling junk, not charity fund raisers.

They constantly call me. I decided to pick up yesterday and tell them to leave me the hell alone. As soon as I said "hello" a recorded message said they were sorry, but they were unable to speak with me, but I could call them back at such and such a number. WHAT?? BTW, these types of companies primarily hire college students trying to make a bit of extra $$ in hard times doing a really sh_tty job. They have no power. Please don't scream at them. Write or call the president of the company.

Suggestion: As soon as you answer the call, and especially if someone is on the other end, let them know you are recording this call and documenting for Federal Government intervention. MAKE SURE YOU DO RECORD IF YOU CAN. When you have recorded several calls, you can report with documentation and also report it the phone company too.

Have had this same annoying problem for a while. Just talked to our phone carrier and had the number blocked. Looks like it should be possible with all phone carriers. Could relieve a little stress in your life

Simple, when I see caller Id of Telefund or Pub Interest Co., etc.... I will simply pick up the phone and scream as loud and as long as possible... if that doesn't impress them I will buy and use an air horn.... good luck with that....

I'm from Kansas City and receive at least 5 of these calls per day. I NEVER answer. It's infuriating.

I've been getting nightly calls for weeks. Tonight I dialed 801-364-2345, and said, "So, I guess you people don't give a shit about the no call list." A pleasant man at the other end said that they were exempt from the no-call list, because they raise money for non-profits. He added that he would be happy to add my number to their no-call list. Shocker! Someone from this number left a message this time! She said that this was a courtesy call from "PICK" (PIC? PIQ?) and that we could call back during normal business hours.

This group generally calls 3-4 times a day, several days in a row. There will be a short break, then the cycle repeats. They never leave a message if any kind. (We are not members of AOPA).

I actually answered the phone and a recording said they were sorry they missed me (huh???) but the recording said they were a public interest company making a courtesy call and that they would call back. They started to say more, but I hung up.

Got "abandoned" calls from 801-484-1107 on 7/8/2008, 7/10/2008, and 7/11/2008. First I registered a very strong complaint with the AOPA who is the only company on their clients list that I belong to. Then I registered individual complaints for each of the call with the Federal Communications Commission at esupport.fcc.gov

They call and call and call and call. I don't care who they are I don't need them calling my number. I'm not calling them! I am on a DO NOT CALL list, so I appreciate them not freaking calling my number. You can tell it isn't someone I want to converse with as they cannot pronounce my name correctly. Leave me alone or give me your number and I will call you at all hours just to see if you want to give me some money.

I have recieved 3 calls today from this number.

They have called several times and when I did answer I informed them that the person they were asking for wasn't here any longer and ask them not to call again...well they didn't listen. They are still calling...though did wait about 3 weeks before starting the calls again.

I think it must have something to do with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. I am a member, and I noticed one other person here that said the call was from AOPA. My membership is expiring with them. I suspect it's related to that. Anyone else here have similar connections?

Have called once a day for 5 days straight. Finally answered today after 3rd ring and said "Hello". I just heard someone typing fast on the other end, and then quietly & quickly hang up. I hope when these people get home after a full day's work, some other pest is calling them and doing the same to them.

Received call from an automated system and hung up as soon as I detected the tell-tale background noise typical of those systems.

Keeps calling with "We're sorry. One of our custimer representative just missed you. This is a courtesy call from PIC. Please call 801-48401101 at your conveneince." Any chance this numkber is a Caribbean phone scam?

They call themselves "Telefundraising Professionals." Line went dead when I answered. I assume that means they were looking for a voicemail recorder.

Called from Aircraft Owners and Pilots Assoc.

These people do not give up. They call several times a day and have for weeks. I will never pick up their calls. they do not leave a message but keep on calling back.

There are many companies that use a random phone number (that's how they get your unlisted number) and automatic dialer to make these calls. They mask themselves as a survey company to try and get around the Government rules, but will more than likely try to sell you something in the end. When you pick up the phone, it may go to a recorded message asking questions where you hit a key on your phone for the answers. When you're done with the survey, it rolls over to a telemarketer, if one is available. The calling company may dial 100 numbers and have about 10 folks to answer the calls. That's why you may get a hang-up because no one is available to take your call. They play the odds that 1 in 10 folks will get through the survey and want to go on with the call.

The following is taken from the "Do-not-call" information page: "If the call is really for the sole purpose of conducting a survey, it is not covered. Only telemarketing calls are covered — that is, calls that solicit sales of goods or services. Callers purporting to take a survey, but also offering to sell goods or services, must comply with the National Do Not Call Registry."

So if you receive a call from this type of company, file a report with the FCC at the following web site in hopes of putting these crooks out of business:

I googled the number and found this website. So I called the number back and heard a voicemail saying that I can have my phone number removed from their list by stating the number at the tone. That's what I did. Hope it works!

We are on the do not call list nationally and statewide, and are irritated with this number because they never leave a message!

When they call, momentarily pick up the receiver then drop it back down. This stops the ringing. I have an Intelescreener which does this job for me for designated phone numbers.

I went to the Contact Form on their site after they called this morning--used the form to tell them to remove my number from their Call List. They may not remove it but the form at least goes through, so someone will see that we are finding out who they are. I may also use the handy list of charity logos that come up on their site to contact those charities and tell them to count me out for future donations.

Unfortunately, these guys are exempt from the DNC list. This from the DNC registry site: "*Reminder: Even if your number is registered, companies with which you do business may continue to call you. So may charities, political organizations, and telephone surveyors." Since they are registered as "charity", the only way to stop them is with their internal DNC list. Ughh

The only logical explanation I can come up with, is they got the number from Monster.com. This is the only source in Utah that has my phone number at least.

Recieved a call from this number today 01-15-2007.They left no message. I google it and found this useful website .thanks for your service.

They are a company that solicits on behalf of charities according to their message if you call the number back. They also allow you to leave your number so they can update their files to NOT call you.Also on DNC list, but obvioulsy they are only working off an internal one?

Called Jan 5th, 2007. No message.

What do these people want. Every day they call even as late as 9:00 pm. Thank god for caller ID. Also on DNC list and even filed a complaint.

Called yesterday (12-14-2006, caller ID said Unavailable. I was not home--noticed it on my statement.

They call repeatedly but leave no message. The next time they call I plan to bombard them with at least one rejoinder from: sorrygottago.com
