GUYS THIS IS A SCAM NUMBER!!! I CALLED CITIBANK AND THEY WENT OVER ALL THEIR NUMBERS AND THIS IS NOT A FRAUD NUMBER BELONGING TO THEM. FIRST OF ALL, I GOT A CALL SAYING TO CALL CITIBANK REGARDING A CARD THAT I DON'T HAVE. ALSO, THE NAME ON MY ANSWER MACHINE WAS SOMEONE ELSE. SO I CALLED BACK, AND THE CITI BANK WAS ASKING IF I HAD OTHER CARDS, PERHAPS A SEARS WITH CITIBANK, ETC? THEN, HE ASKED ME FOR MY PHONE NUMBER. I TOLD HIM NOTHING AND HUNG UP. YOU NEED TO VERIFY FIRST BEFORE YOU CALL. CHECK WITH CITIBANK BY GOING TO THEIR WEB SITE.

This is legitimate from Citicard. Don't know caller id since I didn't see it come in & there are several it could have been. They left a message w/this # as a callback along with a code. I called & input the code. Automated message asked if I was me, if I knew where my credit card was, and whether I had made a particular charge. I hadn't so pressed that selection and was transferred to a rep who told me there had been fraudulent activity on my account, which I also verified by going to the online acct page while talking to her. She did ask for my password but never asked for my acct #. Turned out someone had been making multiple hundreds of attempts to use one of my virtual numbers, failed thank goodness. The rep helped me figure out which number it was so I could close it out, and she removed the hold from my card

NEVER NEVER NEVER give your CC number in this way!!! Protect yourself. Take a minute, look on the "Citi" website and call that number and ask about charges. Give them the info. Smells fishy, don't trust strangers on the phone OR internet saying it's okay to give your CC# to someone you don't know at an unverified number.

Also inquire about the 877-215-2648 number you were given. If it winds up being a fraud, you can help prevent others from being scammed.

Received message from this number and called back. The first thing the representative asked for was my credit card number, which I refused to give. The somewhat annoyed response I received was "this is a legitimate Citibank call." I gave my name and the last 4 digits of the card number, and she verified a couple of recent routine purchases. The Citibank site gives the number that called me as a customer service number, so perhaps it's legit. But why would she press me to give my entire credit card number to an unidentified stranger over the phone?

This is a Citi number. Since the message is "press 1 for X, press 2 for Y," there is no other message. I did once pick up the phone; it was a recorded message about an upgrade. If you want to be put on Citi's "do not call" list, the primary card holder must make the call.

This has been going on
2-3 times a day.
I will not answer a
"Out of Area" number.

the # (800-950-5114) is the # on the back of my citi master card. judging by the comments left and the calls from them i've received in times past, if it's something important, a message will be left. if it's a promotion, card upgrade, etc, they don't bother leaving a message

2007-05-25 22:58:33 UTCcg

this was a legitimate call re: card upgrade

2007-05-24 02:03:11 UTCprincess

They called but didn't leave a message. I called the number and it answered "Welcome to Citicards. To expedite the handling of your call, please speak or enter your 16 digit card number now."

They called twice yesterday while I was working and did not leave a message. They have called in the past to report possible fraud but they had left a recorded message that time..

They called me right now, I answered, no one was there, and then it hung up on me.

Legitimate call-msg from Citi MC Early Fraud Detection. Callback got auto system questioning 3 recent transactions on my Citi MC (they were valid). Glad to know the Fraud Detection system is working!

After receiving this call and seeing the other comments here, I checked my Citi Card account online and it had indeed been flaged for possible fraud by Citi Identity Theft Solution. They wanted to verify a couple of charges.

Called number back -- Citi Identity Theft Solutions.

The original message left with the number was to call another number (877 215 2648 ) but when I spoke to two diff Citi reps at Citi customer service, neither recognized the 877 number.

Possible phishing scheme

Even if this UNAVAILABLE is a legitimate business I want them to leave a message and a call back number. Otherwise stp calling me.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
