How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

MCO Financial
jtYhV5 I`m so grateful that you enlightened me and the most important thing that it happened in time. Just think, I have been using the internet for six years already but it`s the first time I`ve ever heard about it!...
Owned my number for almost 10 years, owe no outstanding debt, and they keep asking for the wrong person. Google NCO they are just basically making stuff up and just take your money. They are the lowest of the low.
Thanks...this looks really interesting. I am looking forward to having my says!
They don't seam to understand the RULES. They just called me again @ 7:45 PM with their AUTOMATED BULLSHIT recording.
Luckily Mr. Berger, those laws grant private right of action. Assuming NCO has no valid claim or has you goofed up with someone else, send a cease-comm via USPS Certified with card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one.
Another automated call from these A--H----. They just don't understand that they are supposed to ABIDE BY THE LAWS that govern the collection businesses.
scum bags trying to collect on a debt that has been paided to origal creditor
Just got their recorded message. They say yhat they are attempting to colledt a debt from me that I need to call Antwane Jefferson about a debt that I have NO KNOWLEDGE OF.
Ah, yes, the sturm and drang of the collection industry bully pulpit, stress on "bully". As "ME" is the sole ambassador from the debt industry in this thread, I will respond to that industry and his rage from today and from Feb 2009, in which I see he cannot make his points without hurling insults and racial epithets.
What would make _me_ laugh, if it wasn't so tiresomely retreaded, is the song of "Pay youse bills" and "All commerce would grind to a halt without us", and "Everyone we call is lower than dirt". This is the reality as I have experienced it and as reported with increasing volume from debt collector vicitms, investigative jounalists, consumer advocate law groups, and the Federal Trade Commission:
DEBT INDUSTRY PROBLEM ONE: You don't know the whole story when you call consumers and you don't care to. The accounts are all sold in packages stripped of personal histories, and you really don't mind who wrongly pays, repays, overpays, or pays for what they never owed. You have this idea that debt collection can be done on a franchise assembly line like bad fast food. Mann Bracken and Axiant found out different and crumbled under their own dirtballed weight.
PROBLEM TWO: With the numbers divorced from reality, you think you're doing God's work by seizing assets and ruining lives through lies and illegal data manipulation. When you can get a call recipient to blubber uncontrollably or have a nervous breakdown or commit suicide from the pressure you lay on, it's high-fives all around the cubicles and time for a bong hit or ski jump. NCO found out different six years ago, giving the FTC a then record-breaking $1.5 million to prove it was very, very sorry for about a week, then went right back to work sneering at alleged debtors.
PROBLEM THREE: You have short memories or are too young to recall a generation ago when a ruined credit history was considered punishment enough for account defaults. In the present Great Recession, it still is. But one pound of flesh no longer satisfies. (See Problem Two) You think your bosses are entitled to subsidize their mansions off bills that could not be met before they were inflated. You think a debtor should pay them again after an account is marked "settled", then pay again once he goes bankrupt, then pay again when the Statute of Limitations ends, then pay again from the grave through her heirs.
PROBLEM FOUR: You have moral obligation confused with a business problem, and think we all should too. Major creditors generally write off the full amount of defaulted receivables, _then_ make a bonus on the sale to collectors, _then_ cry to Congress for handouts. The debtor's money is no good to them any longer, turning the not-really "debt" into a twine ball of unclaimed profit for whoever tears the biggest wound in a person's assets. You will forgive me if I fail to respect an extortion racket which upgraded from a mob with Tommy guns to burdening the court system with mass-produced affidavits and wet-ink judgements.
PROBLEM FIVE: You believe the people named in debt accounts are all as devious as you and/or foolishly dug their own traps. The modern mortgages and unsecured loans are structured in every way to profit most when encouraging borrower failure, something lenders do constantly and incrementally in a kind of legalized embezzlement. The even dirtier secret is that the biggest collectors are financed and/or share-owned by the very firms which send the unfortunate "low lifes" straight into your tentacled arms. Your great pal NCO is on the dole from Morgan Stanley and mostly owned by JPMorgan Chase. No conflict of interest there, uuuhh-rriight?
PROBLEM SIX: The race to the bottom continues on Day 181 when the third party collector takes the baton of tanking accounts. Collector training goes something like this: "Here are the FDCPA, the FCRA, and other laws governing what we do. Now here are all the ways you are going to ignore the law each day. If you lack the stones to act like a jackass and break the law, you will be terminated. If we get an AG complaint on you for acting like a jackass and breaking the law, you will be terminated. Now hit those phones and don't come out until we've scored the target numbers on this whiteboard."
Debt chasers, please spare us the righteous rants. Stop insulting the crippled, jobless, and innocent. Quit pretending that every collector action and lawsuit is justified. This whole perpetual debt machine was never about doing moral good but serving raw greed. A casino economy with vultures picking at the scraps is simply not sustainable, but so long as you "get yours", it's to hell with whoever gets hurt.
Its funny how everyone is claiming that this company is a fraud and a scam.. This is the WORLDS LARGEST AGENCY so I am pretty sure they are legit just like the bills that you people have not paid. Face up to your responsibilities and just pay your bills and they will stop calling.. Oh No I ws fighting in a war and my friends face was blown in half.. SO WHAT your alive so pay you bills.. You chose to be part of the service so dont cry to them about your "stories". Everyone is saying not my bill not me but when it comes time to get something and you cant because this account that you "dont have" is on your credit then you all of a sudden remember it and want to pay.
NCO has more phone numbers than brains.
Fed up with the calls? Capitol Hill is responsible for this mess.
(Our corrupt politicians).

NCO student loan collection.
Apparently these "classy" well-trained, guard dogs, will bark up the wrong tree.
My uncle has a student loan from 20 years ago. Im the lucky chap that has the same name as my dead beat uncle. So "John davis" the collector thinks i'm lieing... He thinks im just denying that Im my uncle. WE HAVE THE SAME FREAKEN NAME!!! Anyways... These guys will call and call until a person might need therapy. I CANT SLEEP WITH OUT THEM CALLING. So i decided to help my uncle take care of this matter for good. Of course my recommendation and any professional will tell you "Its always best to make payments!" but its always best to know your options before negotiating with these "Classy" Collectors. Heres a website I found that some "Student Loan collector" Made... He spills the beans....
studentloanfundamentals.com
Hes a collector so i still hate him, but personally I think this is the first time some one actually came out the laid out the rules on the table. Its a mystery as to why this type of thing isn't more accessible.
This company has called my cell # for over 5 yrs asking for a Juan. I've told them each time I don't know a Juan and I assume he had my cell # before me. They continue to ask where Juan lives now. How in the hell would I know that, I don't know Juan. When I question who they are they always just hang up on me. Very rude, tell me they will remove my cell # but they never do. What sort of action can we take on this company?
they kept calling me on a sprint bill i didn't owe... it was sprint's fault but they corrected it... NCO is still calling me (even when i told them they were calling my cell phone; after they've been told they're calling a cell phone it's illegal for them to continue calling that number).
Collection agency for cancelled Sirius account. No final bill received in mail so I asked them to send a bill and I would see if it's legit and then pay it. They said it should be coming shortly. Didn't think it was legal to start calling before a bill was received.
Got a call from this "company" on a work phone number....it has to be bogus.
Received a call from MCO FINANCIAL 800-709-8625 (on my caller ID) and they left a message to call them today to pay a debt...I don't owe anyone, I have no debts....so, I'm ignoring them. My caller ID read MCO FINANCIAL, not NCO, but the Number was 800-709-8625.
Left message on our answering machine stating they were a debt collection agency and we were to call a number. We don't owe anyone anything - just another scam. Why doesn't the government do something about these calls.
It's funny how they don't send letters out to people. I have seen that here many times. I will tell you why. It is considered mail fraud when they do because these debts are not real debts, they are fraudulent.
My daughter is getting these calls, she's 13. I called and complained and asked them nicely to stop. The lady got real rude quick when I told her to never call again please. I heard "CLICK" a hang up.... If they call again I will consult an attorney.
They called twice a day. I owe nothing to nobody.
Down below (NCOPISSOFF) posted their numbers (215-441-3000 main). U-verse rocks. I just set up automatic call forwarding when 800-709-8625 calls me it is forwarded to 215-441-3000. Now let them try to collect! Now I forward all my unwanted 800, 876, 877, etc. calls to their main number.
Got the first call from this number (that I know of) today. Because I don't respond to 800-numbers, 000 numbers or other numbers I do not recognize, I did not answer. They left a message on the answering machine "this is an effort to collect on a debt ... etc." I don't owe them money and have never heard of them. I should go back and listen to the number they want me to call and post it so that everyone can call it 10 times a day to tie up their lines?
caller id says mco financial but they're supposed to be nco financial. always an automated call. never a live person.
NCO: "Hello NCO"...
ME: Yes my name is Andy and I'm calling you in reference to a debt you're trying to collect?
NCO: "Ahh,. yeah,.... what your phone number?"
ME: It's ###-###-####.
NCO: "Yes I see that you have an over draft fee that's been unpaid since 2005".
ME: Really? On what account?
NCO: Acct# ########### at the Bank of blah blah".
ME: That's Interesting because I don't have an account with that bank.
ME: As a matter of fact, from 2004 to 2006 I was in Iraq fighting for your right to rip off un suspecting Americans.
NCO: Sir we are not ripping you off or any other americans. we are simply trying to collect a debt that was turned over to us for collection.
ME: What your name?
NCO: I'm not allowed to give that out.
ME: Really? How come? You hiding something?
NCO: I'm gonna terminate this call be cause I see you are being unreasonable.
ME: Unreasonable is watching your best friend's face get torn in half in a gun fight. You haven't see unreasonable yet!!!
NCO: Sir?
ME: I have powerful friends in VERY powerful places, I strongly recommend that you extend a great deal of respect and tell me what your name is. I'm gonna find out either way.
NCO: 2 seconds of silence....
ME: WHAT'S YOUR FUCKING NAME?!!!!
NCO: Click,...
I never heard back from these guys since then. But i did hear some laughter in the background. I'm wondering if I got a rookie on the phone and they were laughing at him as I handed him his ass over the phone.
Did not take the call - no message was left. I am not sure how they got my cell phone number. After reading all the other posts this must be some mistake.
these jerks called me and i had to sit on hold for 20 min and they had the wrong person the whole time!
why the f*** r these people calling?..i have absolutely perfect credit, is this some way of collecting from innocent people who might think they have a bad debt, some sort of scam?.. the mail box is always full when i try to resolve the issue, i have never had a live person ever answer, and when i heard the recording a couple times it sounds like the lady who's voice is speaking is three sheets to the wind! what the hell does someone have to get Chris Hanson from Dateline over to this place, oh yeah there is no such place, no address can't find the CEO's name, it's crazy. a year ago i was getting similar calls from a different number but recording was the same etc... when finally getting a live person on the line they said they would remove the number, what they did was get a new 800#!!!
This is a totaly new unlisted phone number which I have. Since my estranged husband moved out in March and had the phone turned off. This outfit NCO financial called my UNPUBLISHED phone # talking about past due credit on my estranged husband. They would not even tell me WHAT they called for until I gave them my phone #, they already had my unlisted phone # because they called me.
What can be done to stop me from getting harrassing phone calles on an extranged husband who does not even live here now, and HOW did they get my unlisted phone number. This is very troubling to me. I have enough to worry about without my estranged husbands debt collectors calling my own unlisted phone #. I do not even know where he is living. This is awful, and I should not be subjected to this kind of harrassment.
Wow, interesting comments from others who have received calls from this number.
doesn't say who they are calling for. Just leaves number with no reference number. I don't answer unknown calls on my cell. So they can send me a letter!!!!
Do not talk to these people at all. They have been calling my house several times a day over a debt from 8 years ago. By the laws in my state the debt is too old to collect on. NCO has no power and legal way to collect an outdated debt. They can not take me to court or garnish my wages...their threats are empty talk. Do not be afraid of their threats...NCO are pure scum of the earth. If you are in a similar situation...do not ever talk to them on the phone...if you do it can re-open your old debt as being new again. ( then they could take you to court ) Paying off an out-dated debt will do more harm than good. Your credit history report will not improve by paying off a old debt. Please investigate this is you do not believe me. There are many sites that discuss this. There is one thing you can do to silence the NCO calls. Buy a "Caller ID with Ring Controller" google to find it. I bought mine on ebay for $50 This little machine will block all NCO calls ( even 000-000-0000 calls )...or any other caller you do not wish to hear. It stops your phone from ringing. From their end they still hear the phone ringing, so they do not know they are being blocked. At least you will have silence. Call all you want NCO ....I no longer hear your calls
This makes me laugh. Everyone keeps saying check yahoo or google on NCO and you will find numerous complaints.. First off how many compliments are you going to find about any collection agency.. WAKE UP PEOPLE !!!! Secondly everyone says if you call dont give them your phone number.. OK again idiots this is the 21st century they also have caller id, so as soon as you do call they have your number.. If everyone here has A+ credit as you all claim why is working at a collection agency job security.. And last if it wasn't for NCO and other collection agencies then people would never pay their bills and our intrest rates would be through the roof.. So I say Thank You NCO for getting these low lifes to pay their bills.. Belive me why would they use your information.. You cant even get credit for a stick of gum because your bills are not paid. And the claims that they will use your information to start making withdrawls from your account whenever they want.. LOL..... I am pretty sure that if this happened they would be on every news station and would be out of business instead of being the WORLDS LARGEST Agency.. They have offices all over so if they were stealing money they would be relocating every month so the government could not find them.. And as far as calling the police.. LOL Again... What are they going to do NOTHING !!!!! The Better Business Bureau NOTHING !!!!! And and Attorney LOL!!! Half of you people cant even afford to pay your bills let alone an attorney.. Do the right thing people pay your bills. Stop listening to nig nigs like Oprah and other BS stations like 60 minutes on telling you useless information on how to get agencies to stop calling you and do the right thing and pay your bills.. Let me give you some insite on the whole ex-spouse thing.. It doesn't work.. If the bill was opened in your name you ARE responsible.. Does not matter what that useless Judge said Agencies WILL NOT and DO NOT HAVE TO honor divorce decrees.. That is a civil dispute between you and your ex-spouse. You have to pay the bill and take your ex to court to get you money back.. Remember for better or worse..

NCO - have fun doing a search on Yahoo - there are endless sites complaining about these morons. They are based in PA and a couple of years ago had a $1.5 million suit settled against them for bad collection practices, yet they still do it. They are shameless. They will call you and lie that you owe something you have either paid a long time ago or never owed in the first place. They will call you about debts in the name of your exhusband, your dead relatives, you underage children, your co-workers, you name it, they call about it. They threaten people with everything to up bodily harm (they told one woman they would take her home and put her stuff out on the street and humilate her in front of her neighbors). They call at all hours. They call from several number. They lie, cheat, and steal. If someone is dumb enough to give a SSN or bank account or credit card number, they will start making withdrawals at their leisure.
You're only defense is to send them a certified return-receipt letter quoting Title 8 and telling them you will take legal action if they do not cease and desist. After that, do NOT interact with them in anyway, by phone call, certified letter, or anything (if you get a letter, refuse to sign for it). If you do, you will break Title 8 and they can start harrassing you all over again.
Go to this site: expert-credit-advice.com. This site is not all that helpful, but this page gives good info and also has a link to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Get educated or get taken for a ride.
These idiots keep calling here. There is never a real person on the phone, just a recording for me to call a #. I call and they always say they are looking for Mr. Stevens. There is no one here by that name. I tell them and they say they will remove my # from their list and then rudely hang up on me. Then they call back the next day. This is very annoying!
VM left saying they were a collection agency, I was not able to speak to anyone just received a message to call them back.
these fucking bastards keep calling leaving a message for me to contact them if I had a physical address I'd contact them with assault weapon fuckoff assholes
This company better stop calling me.
NCO (another in a long list of lawless scum infested collection agencies). "Apparently, NCO is not spending enough time and money to properly train their debt collectors in accordance with law, the FDCPA. Do they hire any derelict that may be in-between court and treatment dates simply to harass, abuse, and oppress consumers? There is no mention of drug testing at their web site, so can you be hired at NCO if one has bad habits and a need for fast-cash. This must be a 'dream-job' for anyone with a prison record, drug habit, or any con artist out to defraud some fast money off unsuspecting consumers. Are you aware of the personal consumer information these money beggars have access to? I shudder to think how much information is being illegally used at agencies such as NCO. You should be VERY nervous about the type of individuals who have this unprecedented and open access to ALL of your personal information." Quoted taken from budhibbs.com
people in my school and me has had phonecalls from the same number and we are only in 4th grade. i dont really like people calling me that i dont know or my moms knows. i have been really scared since they called me.the only thing that gets me is that they dont leave a message right after they call.probally you guys are scared too.i just want to find out who is calling me.i get this call 4 times a week
After being annoyed by several calls from an "unknown caller" I finally answered one. The recorded message said that by federal law they had to say that this was a debt-collection call, to call the 800 number and ask for "John Barclay" and to quote a reference number. I did so (feeling feisty this morning, and knowing that I don't have any debt) and was asked for my name, which I refused to give them. Then they said, "Is this Jane?", so I said yes and asked what it was about. They quoted a small amount - a $45 overdraft - purportedly from a bank account that was closed several months ago. I told them I'd deal directly with the bank. I called the bank, and the customer service rep said that the bank balance was $0, and there was no record of an overdraft or any debt having been farmed out to a collection agency. She advised me to call NCO and ask them to send me proof of the debt. I called them back, told them I had called the bank and that they told me to ask for proof of the debt. I was put on hold and then the line cut out. I called back three more times (just in case they were having phone trouble, yeah right!), spoke to three different people, and after giving them my "reference number" had the same thing happen three more times. I doubt I will hear from them again, but just in case I am sending a "cease and desist" letter, and reporting them to the state attorney general. There is lots about this unethical company on the internet ... time to take action!
If they have my phone number why don't they have my name? In this day and age? I asked them to send me a letter - have not seen one yet.
YOU ALL ARE CORRECT ABOUT THIS COMPANY! I HAVE STARTED FILLING EVERY COMPLAINT I CAN ON THIS COMPANY. EVERYONE NEEDS TO DO THE SAME AT THE FEDERAL AND STATE LEVELS. MAYBE IF ENOUGH ARE SENT SOME ONE WILL DO SOMETHING?
call all the time.
leave message stating it is a debt collection agency. have wrong number.
morons.
These individuals are very unprofessional. There were two messages on the voice mail from this company, asking someone to call them back and they gave a reference number. They said it was something about debt collection. Since the phone number they were calling was a church phone, and this number has belonged to the church for an extended period, I thought I would call them back to see what the call was about and if I could help clear up things. After being placed on hold for about five minutes after hearing an initial automated voice message, I finally got through to someone. They asked me for my reference number, then put me on hold again. The person came back, said he was sorry, asked me again for the reference number, and then put me back on hold again. After a while he came back and asked me if I was [a person's name]. Is said no and explained the situation. He asked me to hold on again and put me back on hold. After about a minute my call was dropped.
I get a message every day from this number saying they are trying to collect a debt....I have no idea who they are or who they are trying to reach but it is EXTREMELY annoying....
When I picked up the phone there was an automated recording about debt collector collecting a debt, etc. So I just hung up and figured it was telemarketing. No live person wanting to speak to a certain person. How funny that my caller ID shows MCO and not NCO!
NCO has called at least once a day for the past week and it's not the first time that they have called. They always leave an automated message but do not say who the call is for. I called back today with a suspicion that it was for a guy they have previously called for and the last time I called them back, they said they'd remove my phone number from the system. Not so shockingly, they didn't. So today I called back saying they keep calling me. She asked "do you know a David King?" I said "no, and it's not the first time I've informed you that...every couple of months you guys call, I tell you the exact same thing and you say you're going to remove my number and you call back anyway! We've had this is number for over 3 years...there is more than one King in this world!!" She said "ok we'll take your number out of our system." I said "we'll see if that's true in another couple of months when the phone calls start coming in AGAIN." And I hung up.
To be fair, I've never dealt with a rude person as I've seen reported on more than one website, but I'm sick of this. Unfortunately they are not the only people who call for this mysterious David King. Between him and some other woman, we have gotten several collections calls that we have repeatedly told to stop contacting us.
If this is a serious matter, why don't they send me a letter thru the mail? Like any other financial institution?
NCO Financial has left me several messages on my cell phone which I initially ignored because I knew I didn't owe anything. I finally called to get them off my back, got a recording, and was transferred back and forth between the same 2 recordings about 5 times. When a human being finally answered, I gave him my name and reference number which he looked up. He said, nope, it not you, I'll change the phoned number. Click. He actually hung on me!! This company sucks!
just a collection agency that is looking for the guy who had this phone number a few years ago
Robo-called and left a message indicating they had confidential information for me and needed to collect money. Total bullshit.
i have been receiving calls from this number for over 18 months now, in spite of the fact that the number has been mine for about 2 years. they always leave a message, but for someone who, to my knowledge has never lived at my address.
call from nco again this time stating in the recorded message claiming to be john berclay to call back emideatly i never do. plz someone get me a office addy i would like to send my own "care package" to said company if you get my meaning. slime derves to be treated as such. all over the walls!
Ever wonder where drug addicts, prison parolees, and newly released mental patients go? They become debt collectors....oh.....that's why they are BRAIN DEAD DIRTBAGS!
They left Robo V mail today.
They call about twice a month - twice within the last week.
I don't understand why they don't check the numbers they are calling. If they checked they would see that the Spanish gentleman who had this # before me has not had it for at least 2 years. If we can look them up - they can look us up.
Regardless of them calling me, from a business point of view they are really wasting their time. They need to review their procedures. By just doing this they would find they could improve their yield on the bad debt they hold. Rather than paying law suits, they could just get on with business.
But then again this is the core principle of why businesses are successful and others not. I suspect the CEO - if they have structure - is not a systems kind of guy.
Just a hunch.
Don't know who you are, so I won't answer to any 800 numbers
REPORT THEM TO YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL - that's what I did. Calls have stopped.
They call and when I pick up I hear a click sounding like I was hung up on. No one is ever on the other line.
they just called for my dad, who has been deceased for 2-1/2 years. . . .
Don't even speak with these people, they LIE and are total DIRTBAGS! They are hiding behind this name: 404 Business Solutions....as well as many other deceiving things they do. DO NOT trust them at all. STAY AWAY!
ONE OF AMERICA'S WORST COLLECTION AGENCYS!
Do not let NCO's under-trained, uneducated and FDCPA lacking debt-collectors make a paycheck at your expense.
Big agencies pay big salaries to their ego-driven brass. NCO should spend a lot more time training their collectors and dealing with consumer complaints, in this case BIGGER does NOT mean BETTER! (Except for Kinky and his top brass team of money beggars)

This messaging center keeps contacting my number and will continue to do so. In my case it is a billing dispute and they still said as long as the number remains in service they will not stop calling. The only way to stop it is to change your number it seems.
I've told them three times that they have the wrong number. Three times they have told me they completely removed the number from the system. I was hung up on this last time and called for a supervisor. TWANA IRVIN (supervisor) was *extremely* rude and unprofessional interrupting me at every step and told me that I was unimportant and she was too busy to deal with me I could not get the company name from her before she hung up on me too.

Report them to your state Do-Not-Call list every time they call you! This company is very unprofessional. After filing complaints for a few months, the calls have finally stopped.
They keep robo-calling, looking for somebody that had my cell phone number about two years ago. Called them and told them to knock it off.

They continually harrass and call after 9PM and before 8 AM. Isn't there a law against that?!?!?!
