For $27 from TigerDirect.com you can buy a USB modem that works with a program called PhoneTray (phonetray.com) that can be set up to block unwanted calls. You can set up a quiet period for the week or weekends. You can assign a distinctive ring for each number. The program is free and works on Windows XP/Vista/7. I don't work for either company, I am just a satisfied customer that has used this setup to cut down harassing calls like BofA does. The phonetray.com site forums have information on the exact model numbers of modems that work with their program.

The caller does not identify herself and only wants to talk to a specific person within the household. If the ans machine picks up, they don't leave a msg.

2011-11-02 13:25:19 UTCsue

Called repeatedly from 8 am to 5 pm no one there when I answered so tried letting it go to voice mail no message. Also called my husbands cell throughout the day no message. Where do they think people are during the day? We did the modification on mortgage but still they call and haven't seen this number come up since BoA bought Countrywide. Is it really BoA and how important is it if they won't leave a message?

2011-10-14 03:00:26 UTCGAH

They call non-stop. Starting around 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. We do not have any business with BOA. At first I tried to explain but have given up and now have them Blocked. Still they call.

Mother fockers ask for info without properly identifying themselves, I called boa and was advised NOT to give any info to this caller or number

2011-09-20 18:48:18 UTCHoward

I have repeatedly asked them not to solicit me and the phone calls will not stop

2011-09-12 22:30:07 UTCjamie gutierrez

2011-09-02 23:49:40 UTCBrian Craig

Jerk started demanding to speak to whoever is in charge of my dead sisters estate...after I told him nobody was, he hung up. He now calls back every hour on the hour and hangs up as soon as I answer. I called back and filed a complaint and demanded they put my number on their do not call list...yet may still get calls for the next 24-48 hours. Maybe if I naswer in a womans voice and then blow a whistle into the phone when he comes on the line he might learn some manners.

2011-09-01 03:53:22 UTCtea

Sorry, AMS, this is a BOA number to collections

2011-08-19 19:25:34 UTCDwight

I received a call from this number and a computer tells me to stay on the line for a very important phone call. After a minute a guy jumped on asking my name. I asked his and he just said have a nice day and hung up.

2011-07-28 15:30:08 UTCNancy

I receive 3 to 4 calls from this number a day. It's Bank of America calling for someone who had this number previously. I tell them that they have the wrong number, that we've had this number for 2 months now and to please remove my number from their list. Doesn't matter they still call and it's a different person each time, they have been polite except for one lady who hung up on me in mid sentence.

2011-07-22 23:02:17 UTCgas

Its B of A collections.

2011-06-29 20:29:03 UTCGAH

No clue who they are looking for. Not me.. Go AWAY

2011-04-28 17:16:50 UTCGale

We were in the home modification program, but were denied. We have been making our regular payments, and have a contact person who we have been working with. I want this harrasment to STOP!

2011-04-26 23:21:24 UTCDave

Just got 2 calls today from this number 800-669-0102 which belong to Bank of America. They have been calling me for over 3 months now. I have called them and told them to remove my number from their calling list but they still calling me every single day. From now on I will file a complaint each time they call at "National Do Not Call Registry" donotcall.gov

I recommend everybody to file a complaint every time they call. If enough people do it, the government will take action against them and hopefully they will stop.

2011-04-23 17:24:24 UTCMary

They keep asking for some guy I've never heard of. I don't think there's very good communication within this company because I've told them they have the wrong number and they apologize but then someone else just calls back and asks for this guy again. If they reverse checked our phone number, they would be able to see they've got the wrong number. Not very efficient. I just won't answer anymore, I guess.

2011-04-22 04:29:43 UTCMichael

I was very suspicious and didn't trust the caller(s) (five in three days) and didn't call the number given, because none had any way of verifying to me that they were Bank of America. I was slow to figure out (took me 3 days!--doh! ) that I could call the BOA customer service department number printed on our loan bill. The cust. serv. representative at that number confirmed that the number 800-669-0102 is their collection department number ( I still don't intend to use it till I'm surer though ), and because by using the customer service line I could be sure I was really talking to BOA, I trusted the cust. serv. rep with our loan account number. That was all it took to find out that these calls were in fact BOA trying to notify us of an error made in writing our monthly payment check, and we were then able to fix the error. I was relieved to find that at least no scammer had gotten our personal info and was phishing for more. Just trying to suggest a way you might check on whether it really is BOA, and a way to contact them and know you're not talking with some independent scammer, without calling 800-669-0102. If you don't have an account with BOA, you might get a cust. serv. number from their web page.
p.s: I still despise BOA for how it has been blatantly cheating so many people out of their mortgages, has palmed off toxic assets to swindle investment companies and other villainous swindlers, as if they felt perfectly entitled to do that, and still do, and expect to get excused for ruining our economy. Not too big to fail, too big to exist.

have recieved 8 calls from this number in the last 6 days and i am not a home owner nor have i ever done business with bank of america.

2011-03-20 22:32:18 UTCTicked off

These MOFO's call day and night. Just called 3:30pm on Sunday. We ARE NOT THE PEOPLE THEY WANT!! Wrong number, wrong name. NO MATTER!! You answered, you're guilty! I can not believe these idiots.

Since the 1st of the year 2011, we now have 5 of these outfits calling our 2 different phone lines. Now, one line was my Dad's, been in our family for over 60 yrs!!! The other one is ours, we have had it 31yrs!!! So no chance it was someone elses number a month or two ago. I am so fed up with these people.

2011-03-10 21:38:50 UTCTired

These idiots call up to 10 times a day. Have since the first of the year. I tried to explain that they have the wrong number, wrong person. However that just adds fuel to their fire to keep calling. I even bought the Panasonic phones (listed below) to block them. So far they have used 5 different numbers.

What is odd is, this is just 1 of 4 phone collectors calling us. None are us, have never heard of the people they are looking for. Try to explain, call them back and BOOM, they think they have you. I am so frustrated with these idiots. One outfit looking for Carmen Wiggins (if you read this, PAY YOUR BILLS). I tried to explain we are not the person they seek. The woman told me that I needed to learn a lesson! She started to call back with an unlisted, no number line. Over and over for hours. I had to unplug the line.

And no, we didn't just get these lines (we have 2). One was my Dad's. It's been in our family for 60yrs. I had it installed when he came to live with us before he died 11yrs ago. The other is our home line we have had for 36yrs.So these people are WAY off the mark. I can't take it..

2011-02-25 17:31:32 UTCAMS

I work for BOA Home Loans and Insurance and can assure everyone that this number is NOT a BOA number. Please DO NOT GIVE any of your personal information to anyone from this number. BOA would come on the line when you answer the phone and give you information to verify & then ask you to verify another piece of information to make sure we are talking to the right person. Once again, DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO ANYONE AT THIS PHONE NUMBER!

2011-02-19 00:54:49 UTCMary

It appears from other responses that this is someone pretending to be Bank of America. I imagine if they call enough people, the law of averages says they will eventually run into someone who actually does bank at BOA and they will scare them into thinking there's a problem with their account. In these days of identity theft, no reputable business is going to ask for your social security number over the phone. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be your bank, the wisest thing to do is hang up and then call your bank using the phone number listed on your statement - not the number the caller used. Any call you did not initiate is a possible scam. By the way, I have been receiving quite a few calls from this number and I do not bank with BOA. Since we are on the Do Not Call list, I am sure this is not really Bank of America at all. They would know enough not to call.

2011-02-17 23:59:13 UTCcl

I have been receiving calls on my cell phone (4) so far and each time I answer they hang up. I call back and they want my SS# or account number. I don't have a home loan or any kind of loan and I'm not going to give out my SS#. This has to be a scam or someone is using my cell number on their loan documents, not sure how to get them to stop my number is on the DNC list. I don't bank with BofA and I have never done business with CountryWide. BofA should look into this harassment its very bad for business.

2011-02-17 15:09:36 UTCSK

This person ID's themselves as BoA debt collction on recorded line. We are not in default and have no idea why they called. They had a lot of personal information at hand, so I wonder if they are legit. They sounded like they were calling distance and when I pressed them, they told me they werre callling form India (big suprise), I promptly ended the call.

2011-02-08 21:33:36 UTCWrong number

We are getting deluged with a number of these types of calls. For one, we don't even have a BOA account. The others is for random people we have never heard of. Seems like this started around the 1st of the year. Carmen Wiggins, whoever you are, pay your bills.

People say it's because the phone company gives out old numbers too soon. Well, the one number has been ours for 36yrs. Our other number was my Dad's (my number as a kid) that has been in our family well over 60yrs!

I can not find a way to stop these calls. If I answer and try to explain, they call me a liar and keep calling. One night some woman got mad when I told her she had the wrong number and stated calling with an "Unknown" number and hanging up every 3 to 5 mins. Went on for over an hour! Who do you complain to? Now we are getting calls for other people as well. I can't take it.

I'm not sure who you mean in this thread by a "defender", Jay. The cost of technical maintenance and personnel for call centers I'm sure is very comfortably factored in, else BoA would not use the phone as a favored weapon like everyone else in the collections industry.

Allstate used its "good hands" a couple weeks ago to dope slap BoA/Countrywide in court for all the toxic mortgage assets Allstate says it was sold. Everything we know about securitized home loans tells us the real money is in forcing default. BoA is not worried about its phone bill. It will be worried that its gravy train of sloppy loan papers threatens to derail for good.

2011-01-11 18:36:00 UTCJay

Invariably some no-name defender of BofA/Countrywide's constant calls will read comments such as mine and submit a non-disguisable comment revealing the defender's background. Until then, let's see: The 1-800-669-0102 calls are billed to BofA/Countrywide at local rates instead of as long-distance calls. If Stacy calls from the U.S., then it's a 2c/min rate. If a person or robocaller in India calls, then it's something like a 1 rupee/min rate. Stacy and the Indian call centers will continue to call persons non-stop, as others continue to report here and at 800notes.com and at whocallsme.com and at everycall.us. These calls may or may NOT be returned. Simple mathematics tells us that the aggressive 25 calls/week average will be costing BofA/Countrywide a mere 50cents or 25rupees per week. This comes out to $2 or 100 rupees per month, and then $24 or 1200 rupees per year, albeit still a trivial amount. On the other hand, multiply this yearly figure by the number of persons targeted by these calls, then add possible additional costs (legal?) levied against BofA/Countrywide, and eventually the constant [non-returned] calls from this 1-800 number will slowly start to cost BofA/Countrywide a SIGNIFICANT amount of change.

To that no-name defender responding to the comments here, go ahead and feed these figures back to your BofA/Countrywide bosses before you or they spin these away :)

2010-12-13 07:19:52 UTCResident47

You folks need to be careful invoking FDCPA rights. If BoA is your original creditor that law will not apply until collections is farmed out to a third party. A few states have thoughtfully provided similar protections from first parties. Get your homework straight before you call anyone out.

Given the way home loans and other consumer debt are securitized, you could charge that ownership of the debt is impossible to strictly prove, but right now it's a tough legal route to travel.

BoA took a bigger risk than they admit in purchasing Countrywide, and at the time went on a rampage unfairly repricing BoA accounts to subsidize that. Not surprisingly the writing on the wall says the chain of title on pretty much Countrywide's entire portfolio is a mess, yet people are forced into homelessness over bad papers and sloppy proof. It would surprise me not one second if BoA suddenly turns up the heat for its customers before the regulators and Congressmen start calling.

Despite the fact that I made this loan current (Countrywide that became B of A Homeloans), after pragmatically refusing to pay the monthly [because it was on my mom's house I inherited and serviced after her death]; because they kept denying my attempts to 'assume' it (always asking for another 'item' that was never on the original list of documents I was to provide to prove I had the authority to assume), and I could not get them to stop placing the lender-based insurance on it every year (now 3) at the cost of around $8.200 per year - to which they issued a 'Letter of Intent to Accelerate' the loan; they keep calling. I spoke to the agents twice, and they did not have the current information in their system. I told them I was waiting to see the statement with my recent transaction on it before resuming the monthly payments, and, although they understood what I was saying (that it was current), I would still get these calls until I made this month's payment.

12-16 calls a day, all day, every day - and I have already satisfied what they are calling about.

This company calls me at least 10 times a day. I have repeatedly answered the call then told them not to call back. This company violates the FDCPA in numerous ways. Not only do they not say this is an attempt to collect a debt, they do not identify themselves, but repeated calls are a violation of the FDCPA. They have ignored my request to make contact via mail. File a complaint with the FTC at ftccomplaintassistant.gov

This is BOA. They call me a minimum of 6 times a day. They are calling regarding payments for a mortgage on a house that foreclosed over 2 years ago. I have been told by a couple of the representatives that they won't stop calling until I pay. Some of them say they will transfer me to someone who can help me and then I get a recording that says to call back during normal business hours. I get this message even at 11am on a Thursday. Anyone have any idea on how to stop these calls?

We've been recieving calls from this number for a couple of months, they're looking for my husband's ex-wife. I've told them repeatedly that she doesn't live her, nor has she ever. The calls have slowed down, though haven't stopped completely. I did however find that this is a legimate phone number from Bank of America, it's on their website here, homeloanhelp.bankofamerica.com , and seems to be the number for the forebearance department for people having financial hardships.

Never leave a message so not sure who it is ??? If it is BOA they shouldn't be calling me since I am NOT LATE OR BEHIND with my mortgage payments. They are the ones who owe me money since they misapplied two of my payments one even going back to 2009... and they claim they need time to research it.....should be totally ashamed of harassing their good customers. I should be the one harassing them to find what they did with my money

Loan Counseling from Bank Of America. I have reported this number numerous times to the Federal Trade Commission because I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST and I have NEVER DONE BUSINESS WITH THIS BANK !! Borders on HARASSMENT !!

2010-10-28 14:50:44 UTCWendy

They call almost everyday, I ignored it because we have caller ID and I figured they can leave a message. Now i have answered it twice, they ask for my husband, won't speak to me because it is "personal" however EVERYTHING we have is joint, so my name would be on any account. RED FLAG. They say they are Bank Of America, we are with Wells Fargo. We have no loans at all with BOA and have not applied for one with them, I asked them to stop calling. If they call again, I will blow a whistle down the phone. There are a lot of scammers out there preying on people in this economy, do not give out any informatin to these people.

2010-10-26 18:48:30 UTCIts Me

I've recently refi'ed with BOA and had my mortgage payment skip two months. I've been receiving these calls non-stop to my cell for well over 2 weeks now (Oct. payment is deemed late). I read many of the posts here and called my finance officer and he confirmed that all was well with my account, and that I should not be receiving any calls from anyone about "loan counseling" or "debt collection". I've experienced what many here have experienced with hang ups, nothing/no one on the line, etc. I've never called back and never spoken to anyone asking for my SSN or anything of that nature. My advice: if you do not and have or have NEVER had a loan with BOA or CW (Countrywide) ignore the calls. Yes, they are annoying, but ignore them. If you DO or HAVE had a loan with BOA or CW then call your loan officer and verify that your account is ok. If all is well, then ignore the calls. I have been and will continue to ignore the calls. It's always good to contact a legitimate person if you can (as in my case) to make sure everything is on the up and up. Peace.

This IS Bank of America. See www4.bankofamerica.com

Put in 1-800-669-0102 in the search box.

They just called me and wanted the last four digits of my SSN. I didn't recognize the number so I said I wouldn't and hung up. BoA recently purchased our mortgage from another lender, so it's not a scam.

I am 80 yrs old. Everyday I get a call from this Number, and they want the last four digits of my social security number. They claim they are from Bank of America and now hold my mortgage. I spoke with my mortgage company GMAC and they said they have not sold my loan. I ask them to stop calling me but they call everyday. I believe they are trying to scam me. I will not give them any information.

Someone I know keeps getting these exact same calls again and again and she has ABSOLUTELY NO LOANS OR UNPAID MORTGAGES!! According to stipulated tenets of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act ftc.gov , even if she DID have a loan or unpaid mortgage, she is fully legally allowed to request WRITTEN documentation and correspondence concerning such a loan or mortgage sent directly to her address, and BofA/Countrywide Loans MUST LEGALLY COMPLY with her request. Should it or its connected affiliates somehow refuse to comply with such a request, and maintain its steady stream of phonecalls instead, then BofA/Countrywide Loans could very well subject itself to actual prosecution proceedings from the Federal Trade Commission.

Be advised of this, BofA/Countrywide Loans or representatives!!

Maybe this information will help someone save an ENTIRE DAY trying to get their name/number off the dreaded BoA badger list. If you are receiving erroneous collection calls on a mortgage you don't have, CALL 1 (800) 669-6607, NOT the number they call from. That number just routes you to clueless collectors in call centers all over the world who will promise you're off the list. When you call, if you don't have a loan or the ssn# of the unknown borrower, mumble audibly but unintelligibly during the automated prompts and be patient...they'll try over and over, but eventually you'll get a representative. If you say "no" or say nothing, Computer Cathy will tell you to call back when you have the information. Gibberish confuses her. Ask the representative to send your information to their main solicitation or contact group - called the CAMPAIGN Department. That should "stop the majority of calls immediately." I was told all calls would cease by the end of the month, and today is the 12th. Write down who you spoke to, when, and what they promised. If they don't deliver, call the corporate number 1 (704) 386-5681 and they will elevate your complaint to ... the queen, I guess? I was very polite but I did mention that I filed complaints with the Attorney Generals' offices in IL (my home state) and NC (their home state) and with the FCC, which I did. We'll see what happens....

We didn't buy the home together, I was never on the mortgage and I've never lived in the home. I've BEGGED them to stop calling me!!!! Everyone I speak to assures me they are removing my number from his file......but they just keep calling. It's SO FRUSTRATING!!!! I will NEVER do business with this bank.

I get calls daily from BOAC. I don't have a BOA home loan, nor did I ever. I do not do business with these people. I called Tim Carpenter today as recommended by another poster below. He was very nice and apologized for the calls but couldn't help me. He transferred me to the stupid line that has a recording and they won't put you through to a real person without an account number... WHICH I DON'T HAVE! BOAC is very annoying. I had to call customer service more than ten times and each time they said they would remove my number - I don't even have an acct with these people. I am receiving over 20 calls a day and their solution was to have an actual agent stop calling me and to replace it with a recording. Great that really helps. I finally asked to speak to a supervisor who assured me, just like the customer service reps, that my phone number has been deleted from the main system - which is supposed to be different from their other system. OK I'll hold my breathe... I got the supervisor's direct line if anyone's interested.. TIM CARPENTER (480) 457-3567.. good luck!

at best, or a scam. The first question they ask is to give SSN!!

I've been getting calls from this number (800-669-0102) at least once a day for the past week. The people on the other line claim to be from Bank of America. Today I called up the Bank of America number on the back of my credit card and asked them to verify if this phone number is from one of their departments; that answer was no. When asked who I should contact about this problem, the representative suggested I call the police. I'll be doing that later this afternoon.

2010-08-17 22:20:57 UTCVrost

The rep said he was calling from Bank of America to discuss my mortgage, and then he asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN. I wouldn't give this out, so he thanked me and ended the call. I then checked in at Bank of America and found that they had a legitimate matter to discuss. Once done, I spoke with a supervisor who explained to me that the rep should have instructed me to call BofA, so I asked her to follow up with that department so they could provide the rep with additional training.

Calls from this number are a computer dialed collection attempt from Bank of America's mortgage division. I am going througha loan mod with them currently and just received a call from this number. You have made people lose there homes because of you guys. I use to live at 3011 6th ave N St.Pete, FL 33713 ever since 1996. You all threaten us and said "if we do not move, you would get the sherriff and will put us out"! How dirty. So we moved out! Now we had had 12 buyers on this house and you all turned it down! Why? Is there a valid reason? Because usually smart people will take something then nothing! If you can explain to me w/o thinking and pausing. Is this correct? Do me a favor and keep the house! I regret putting so much money in this house! And you know what! I am getting all that stuff out of my house! You all are nasty. How in the world does it take you guys 3 years to have a house that is not sold sitting up there vacant! And there are buyers who would love to live in that house. NOT one but twelve! Explain that to me. I would love to here this great excuse.

these scum bags have been calling us every day some times up to 16 or 18 times a day for months. they never leave a message or a call back number. today, they called my mother, who lives in a different city - i have no idea how they got her number, looking for me saying it was about a "confidential business matter". we do have a mortgage with them, but we are current with our payments, have never missed a payment or been late with a payment. ever since they took over our mortgage, we have walked into a branch and have receipts for every payment. our mortgage statements don't indicate any problem. they have never sent us anything in writing indicating a problem. when i called the number today, there is no way to speak to a human being and the only option offered is to set up a payment plan to "get current". current with what? i'm so pissed off with these people.

I have no accounts with Bank of America, not even a savings account, but I received numerous calls from this number. I hope this information helps all of you stop the calls.

Received 15 calls from this number in three weeks on my cell phone which is registered annually on the National DO-NOT-CALL List looking for Joseph Dunham, who I am not. 4 of these times, I was nearby the phone and able to answer, and I told the calling representative I am not that person, do not know that person, this has been my number for 3 years and to remove my phone number immediately. The last time they called, I was able to answer for the 5th time, and instead of a humanoid, I was greeted by a recorded voice menu with a salesman-type voice. Without entering an account number or SSN/Zip Code, it told me to hang on while they transferred my call to a real person to update their list. After 60 secs, the call was dropped - they hung up.

I was furious, so I called this number back with an idea. I entered an obviously fake SSN and Zip Code, but the system put me through to a person. The representative with a middle-eastern accent asked for my account number. I explained the situation to him, so he asked for my Name and Phone Number to remove me from the list. I refused to give him my name, so he refused to help me. I got irate and demanded a manager. He patched me through to Christina (also had a middle-eastern accent) verified the situation, and I explained that I would not give them any information beyond the phone number to be removed from the list and the reasons for that (scams, and my name is not their business.) She promised my number would be removed promptly and that I would not receive another call. I asked who I would contact if I did receive another call, and she gave me a fax number...really? No humanoids? I promised her that if I received another call, her company would be hearing from the FTC, FCC, BBB, my local Attorney General, and my personal Attorney, and it would be far from pleasant.

After two weeks, I have not received one call from them.

This is the Bank of America, if you are two days late on your note they will call and call and call and call, they call every hour on the hour and there may be four or five different people a day calling you. I make my payments online and apparently they don't update their systems too frequently because they will call for several days after, I guess until their system updates.
Try to call them at their Customer Service and you get someone you can't understand with standard answers really saying nothing and helping none. BOA must contract their service out to a sub-contractor for collections, surely they are THIS incompetent.

I just missed a call from this number and do in fact have a mortgage account with BofA. I wouldn't trust anyone calling me. BofA only asks for your name, address, tel. date of birth and last 4 digits of your social security. Their direct number is 800-669-6607 in case you need to call about your mortgage. This is the loan administrator for mortgage loans at bank of america if your mortgage payment hasn't been received. Its voicemail and gives you a number to call back to talk to a live person.

2010-03-07 23:16:38 UTCKira

The caller ID comes up as Loan Counseling. When I call the number back it says it BAC Home Loan Servicing LP - a debt collector. When I entered my B of A loan number, the automated system simply told me the balance on my account. I do not have any past due loans, so I do not know why they would be calling. They are also calling my work number, not my home number, on a Sunday afternoon (and they wonder why I'm not there to answer it). I think this is a scam. I think that someone is using B of A's loan servicing phone number as their caller ID in order to collect personal information from unsuspecting victims. I recommend that you do not give out any information to anyone that calls from this number. Call your bank or mortgage company directly if you need to speak to someone.

I kept receiving phone calls from this number. They wanted the last 4 numbers of my SS. I did call them back
in the morning. I did not give them my SS #. I gave them the last few numbers of my loan. Then they
said my name and address and the reason for the call. They had all the facts right, except that I had
in fact sent the payment that was due. Apparently, a payment that I could prove that was made, was not applied to my account.I pay my loan faithfully and on time. When they went over my records, they could see that was true. So,I called my bank and got the info. on the check that went out through my bank. Once they had the number of the check and I told them when it went through their bank, everything was okay. So, banks make errors as well. So, call them back and see if the same has happened to you.Just don't give out your

We let the call go to voicemail as we listened. I called back and heard the message that asks for your social. No no no. Scam!

2010-02-19 02:31:04 UTCSickOfThem

I have been getting calls for about a week now... Today took that cake with a call each and every hour. They can call till the cows come home! It it's important and pertains to me, leave a msg. or you are S.O.L.! I don't appreciate being harassed, especially during MY working hours! I may have to file a complaint or join a class action suit against these people if they keep harassing me day in and day out...

TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN: STOP CALLING MY PHONE AND JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!!

I received a call from a man named Steven saying he was from Bank of America. He requested the last four digits of my SSN (which I did not provide to him). I asked the nature of his call, but he said he could not disclose it without confirmation of my SSN. He said I could call back (which I will not) and dial #2 (he couldn't remember for sure) for the "Home Retention" division to inquire further about "this very important matter". I asked for his extension number, but he said he did not have one. Do not provide any of your personal information to these people!

I called the BoA Customer Service Line (866-653-6183) and asked about this number and they say 800-669-0102 IS THEIR Loan Counseling Department. They do collections and loan assistance.

2010-02-04 19:32:03 UTCMacDonald

Bank of America continues to call, ignoring all my request to stop calling that I am not interested in what they have to offer. They call 3-4 times a day 5 days a week, sometimes 9:00 at night wanting me to refinance my home. They have been continually calling since October 2009. WHEN IS THIS HARASSMENT GOING TO STOP!!!

2010-02-01 21:59:08 UTCBKV

I also received approximately 4 calls a day from this number. I emailed my Bank of America customer service once logged into my bank account online. Customer service confirmed my monthly payment was sent properly but that I should contact the mortgage division because apparently our mortgage increased by $100/month and we didn't know it. Nonetheless, I too did not trust the automated call that results in a real person asking for my social security number. Never provide that information! If you have any suspicion about who is calling you, simply hang up and call the number for customer service that's listed on your statement.

2010-01-26 17:43:07 UTCmomof4

Wanted my husban then agreed to talk to me. Said they were calling from Bank of America about my loan, but first wanted to verify my SS#. Wouldn't tell me what they were calling about until I gave my SS#. FAT CHANCE! Told them to take me off their list & hung up! FYI- we have always been current on ALL bills and always pay extra on our home load so this was not regarding debt collection.

2010-01-25 21:16:16 UTCKevin

I am an attorney that dabbles in creditor abuse law. I'm also an unfortunate recepient of these phone calls despite not having a mortgage with B of A. This entity misrepresenting the legal status of debts through telephone contact is directly violating the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, not to mention your respective state equivalent. I haven't received a call within the past few days but am seriously considering a class action lawsuit.

Perhaps this is how the SCAM works: Take II, part 2

07) (Cont'd)

2010-01-23 20:54:52 UTCADDthis

Perhaps this is how the SCAM works: Take II
1) Some phone service carriers allow the customer to program their Caller ID to say WHATEVER THEY WANT!
2) When you get a call from said names/#'s and DO get through to either their automated system or a live "George-[from-India]", (loan #, SS# etc...) all they really want is your social and anything else they can get.
3) "I'm sorry, you have the wrong number, person doesn't have this Number anymore, etc." Often want your info so they "can take you off their list, verify that it is the wrong number, etc."
4) All they want is your SS# & ANYTHING else thay can dupe you out of - the more they get the easier it is for them to to commit their fraud. Although it's nice, they really don't give a rat's a$$ about your loan number which is why you can enter any bogus number and still get 'authenticated' by the system. Like one commenter said, he just entered 00000 for his zip code.
5) If you ask for a callback #, the give you the the 1-800-669-0102 number which as far as I can tell IS the LEGITIMATE number for CW / BOA (remember, there was an Obama-over of CW By BOA). They don't want YOU to call them back, 'cause then the jig's up! BOA has a really cool system that adds credibility to the scam. Also, they know BOA won't shut down their LEGIT automated system because of a few fraudsters, so you're out of their hair until their next call.
6) You call the # and because BOA is SO SLAMMED with with Mods, refie's, etc., they use a LEGITIMATE automated system to collect your data. IF in fact you do have some kind of loan with them, they use it for legitimate purposes so THEY can call you back and/or update their records.
7) Remember, they can program their caller ID to say ANYTHING!! ****THE 1-800-669-0102 PROBABLY IS A LEGIT CW/BOA NUMBER >>>BUT

My number is unpublished and you have to unblock your number. Beware folks. Con Artists on the lose! Don't say anything. Just hang up.God is watching these evil ones.

They called my wife's cell, which I never give out, but had my name, and said they represented Bank of America Home Loans. But we don't have a loan. They wanted the last four of my social to verify, which I didn't want to do because the whole thing was suspicious. Unfortunately, they talked me into giving one digit, which still seems risky (just cut their guesswork by 1/10).

Pretty sure these folks are fraudsters.

2010-01-05 18:10:26 UTCFlorida

They have called 15 times in the last two days, do not leave a message. I don't have a loan or a mortgage, have never done business with them and am on the do not call list federal and state.

2009-12-30 19:42:10 UTCKara

Well here is a winner. We don't have BofA or Country Wide as our mortgage lenders. Plus we're not behind in our mortgage like a lot of others. My husbands job will always be secure unless he down right quits.

These people never leave a message and they call about 7 times a day wiping out all of the other caller ID's on the phone within 3 days. Maybe they're searching for an idiot. I don't really want to spend an extra $20 for inbound call blocking. Plus we're on the DoNotCall List.

2009-12-29 02:22:55 UTCYana

Call from India. I guess Indians really want my house.

2009-12-24 19:06:08 UTCLisa

They called here for Richard. I asked "Richard who?" because my husband's name is Ricardo. They replied with the correct last name and I said he's not home and asked to take a message. He said to tell him that Bank of America Home Loans called and gave me a number. I told him that we don't have any accounts with Bank of America and he said "It's Richard's account, not yours." Now I realize that some husband and wives have different account in there own names but I handle the budget and know where every penny of our money goes. I let him know that I would not be passing along any message. I guess I'll have to quit answering the phone.

2009-12-21 17:19:47 UTCKristi

Same as everyone else...pick up phone and told to hold...moments later the line disconnects. I tried calling the number back and the recording says they can't help me until I give them my social security number or account number.

2009-12-21 04:05:16 UTCMia

Got call, recorded tones and then message stating Bank of America and they are calling to let me know my account status has changed, please put zip code in. I put 00000 and was transfered to someone who said she couldn't give me any information on my account status until she verifies it's me by... My giving her my social security number. RED FLAG MOMENT!!! So I remind her that she's the one who called me, and that I am going to call Bank of America and verify this number. Called Bank of America, they said it's a FISHING CALL and NOT BofA. She took the number and forwarded to the appropriate fraud unit at BofA. This number is just someone looking to steal your identity and anything else they can by getting your personal info.

OK, so like lots of people, mortgage payments don't always make it on time. Getting several calls a day from this number 1-800-269-0102 (automated) suppose to be a "loan counselor". First of all I live in AMERICA, not some foreign country. I refuse to listen to anyone who doesn't speak real english, and have to keep asking them to repeat themselves. If I want some counseling, I'll do the calling, to an American. I am NOT predjeduced, but have better things to do than try to figure out what the heck the caller is trying to say. Even though I am on the "do not call list", they keep calling, and this is TELEMARKETING and an obvious attempt to intimidate those called. They have no problem calling at anytime or hours either. Get a real job buttheads.

2009-10-29 15:35:28 UTCCat

Bank of America. We sent the check, they cashed the check, now they claim we haven't paid the mortgage. I've had at least a dozen calls from them about the "missed" payment. Clearly, their system is messed up. Oh, and their call center is in India, so the people don't understand half of what you say. She just kept saying she'd make sure I didn't get any more calls this month. Great. Two days of peace. Then it will start again. GET YOUR @#$% TOGETHER, PEOPLE!!!!!

I have been getting calls from this number and from the look of things, it might not be easy to resolve this situation. get missed calls from this # at least 3-4 times/day almost on a daily basis. supposedly important business regarding an existing acct, but never leave a message or try calling loan holders on a different # (if it's regarding an existing acct, they should have an alt #, right?!) spoke to 2 different people on 2 different occasions at least 1-2 months ago & have stated persons they're looking for no longer available at this # so they were supposed to remove the # from their list. nope! still continuously get calls! & the stupid automated service doesnt give an option to speak to an operator. got fed up today & gave bogus acct info. it'll ask if you're sure about your acct # & just say "yes" & it'll state it can't be found & will ask if your acct has just been transferred to them. say "yes" you'll eventually be transferred to a rep. i even stated the situation to the rep & how frustrating it was & she didn't seem to know what she was talking about. even just to ask what office they work out of for my own records if they still keep calling, i know who i spoke to last, she didn't want to give even just the stupid city! i asked for a manager, got a supervisor who went through the whole routine again. asked what city they work out of & it was like pulling teeth! would only say "california" where i in turn said "you guys only have one office in california?!" he said "yes" & i said "so if call b of a back & say i spoke to your california office, they will know who i'm talking about?!" he said "well, we have several locations in california" & i calle dhim out on the lie he just gave me. said "not like i'm going to come hunt you guys down, i just want it for my records" & he said "you never know." i said "you guys are the ones practically harassing this #" & he was then insistent on getting me off the phone. douche bags!

I have been getting several calls a day. There are many payphones in my area and I think will dial the number in all of them. If their lines are busy, there will be fewer outgoing calls. I have nothing to say to them, but since it's an 800 number, they will pay for the calls.

Well from what you folks say it would appear to be our mortgage company... not at ALL pleased with it now being held by B of A!! I am sure that they are calling because our payment is late (was due on the 1st and it is now the 18th). God knows they surely are NOT calling to confirm that they have approved our information for the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act. Followed THEIR rules, faxed copies of the orders to Active Duty to them an they denied it, "claiming" they need legible copies with the "required" information. Do you think maybe their a bit ticked off since I underlined every bit of info that they "claimed" they could not read the first time, politely asking them to fix it or the next contact will be from our JAG office. Freakin MORONS and CAN NOT wait to refinance with OUR bank! If you are going to call people, have someone (NOT a machine) on the freakin phone when we answer - oh and PLEASE make it someone who SPEAKS ENGLISH! Last I checked I did not live in a foreign country. I SPEAK the language of MY Country... quite the freakin' outsourcing to India, China, etc.

2009-08-15 16:40:25 UTCunhappy

They call and when you answer the phone there is no one there. When you try to call them back, they want your acount number or the social security number of the loan. It does NOT tell what company they are calling from. They have been calling my home for 7 days 6-8 times a day. This is ridiculus!!!! When you ask for a supervisor, they stone wall you and will not allow you to speak with anyone in higher management. They state that they need your account number before they can assist you. Very unprofessional!!!! I have called my phone provider to find out if I can have this number blocked. But it is Saturday and I will not know until Monday.

Same story as most of you, I have (had) a loan with countrywide, was late a few time, nothing serious. Now it's Bank of America, and they want to "re-do" my loan. I actually went through the process a little, since the interest rates were so low, and they couldn't do anything at the moment. What a pain, should definately be against the law.

On one day they left two messages. The first was Countrywide and the second was Bank America. Suddenly in two hours my loan switched servicers? They have been sent numerous letters asking them to cease and desist calling my cell phone. The fine is adding up!

2009-05-15 15:24:56 UTCVicki

Oh it is countrywide alright. But remember Bank of America has now accured all their loans. Watch out for the take over though because if you are still paying countrywide because you have yet to receive any notice otherwise from either company, well you can wind up trying to prove you actually paid your mortgage. I have been paying countrywide all this time and recently got a call from Bank of America stating I never paid. I did not know they were becoming my new mortgage company, lack of actual notifications from either company, as of June 1 2009. Why are they calling me in MAY!!! Who has your money??? Keep an eye on your accounts if you are dealing with these two companies right now.

It's Countrywide - they will call 3 times/day even when payments are made on time.

This is definately Coutry Wide. I hate these freakin company. These people just will not stop calling. They call exactly at 8:01 in the morning. Now what is even worse is that they contract out to a telemarketing firm "overseas." So of course when you answer there is a delay while the computer connects you to some freakin phone operator in India or Pakistan or where ever it is they contract out to. To top it off, yes I have a loan with them but on the pay statements it clearly shows that you have a 10 day grace period to pay and furthermore, under Federal Law, it technically is not considered "late" and can not be reported to the credit reporting agencies untill after "30 days."

Why the hell does this company insist on alienating its customers by being so disrespectful by calling all the freakin time at all the worst hours just to find out "why you did not pay" and "when will you pay." How rude. Quite frankly I do not believe it is any of Countrywides business. Maybee I got recalled to active duty and am not in the country and I am waiting for my military pay to kick in so that I can pay you greedy bastards who were one of the culprits that caused the real estate and mortgage break down. Stop calling me you bastards and you will get your money when the military pays me for defending your sorry ass right to call my house and bother me.

Individual with heavy accent indicated he was from Countrywide debt collction, asking about Laura Lynn. Followed up by denying he was a debt collector but insinuated there was something shifty because he had my name and I didn't know this "Laura".
Very annoying person.

A lady with a British accent was looking for Kimberly or Jason Wallace. I let her know she had the wrong #. Seemed pleasant.

said home retention team... they are calling bc I am late... I wait till the last absolute minute!! Hey you gotta hang on to what you can for as long as you can! Never gone 30 days so you think they would stop sweating it.

2008-09-17 02:31:07 UTCgerry

This is Country Wide apparently, but we are on the Do Not Call list and we have no accounts with them - never have. Should they be allowed to call?

Countrywide is one of my lenders and they are the worst ever! They have people who lie throught their teeth and cannot speak enough English. They do not care about others financial situation.
And the call my home and cell phone every day, even on the weekends. They just suck!

2008-03-11 14:28:58 UTCRebecca

If this is Country Wide which I do have my house loan with them why would they call when you're not even late on the loan? I've never been late on my loan and I keep getting calls and no one ever is on the line..

2008-02-28 23:22:59 UTCDaVe

Whoever on the other line try to contact my mobile phone at least once a month. I didn't bother to pickup. I don't even thinking of buying a house.

2008-02-28 17:37:06 UTCLeon

Computer said "Please hold", which I did for about a minute then I hung up. How rude.

I called Countrywide customer service line to check up or report this as a fraudulent number, and I was told it was thier title division trying to let me know about offers available to my account. I told the guy that it was a dumb way to do that because there's no way to be certian who is actually calling, especially since the ONLY number given on the Countrywide website is 1-866-466-3702, and not this 800 number. He said, "Oh...yeah."

Here are some sites that talk about this apparent fraudulent number.

No name given.....kept asking for someone who's name was being mis-pronounced. Finally asked me if I was "interested" in keeping my house? Told'em to go pound sand and hung up. If this WAS countywide...then there's the reason they're in financial trouble. I want THEIR phone# so that I can call them at 7am!

This number is Countywide!

Several calls from this number 800 6690102

2008-01-17 20:05:49 UTCCentFL

It's Countrywide - Forgot to make my mortgage pay on Dec 1, they called Dec. 27. Automated call - More of a friendly reminder asking when they could expect payment. (Of course my mortgage pay was less than 30 days past due. Might not be so friendly if you are really behind.

2008-01-05 19:13:52 UTCMontana

Do not do business with Countrywide, I suppose if you're looking up this number its too late. Payment due on the 15th and the calls begin on the 1st. We average at least 1-3 calls a day from them. When I told the person who I could barely understand that our payment wasnt due she just kept trying to get me to make a phone payment till I hung up on her.

800-669-0102 showed up. i answered. said they were from countrywide.

2007-12-12 22:20:42 UTCRay

Probably Countrywide - seems like a scam - I don't trust them and told them so - used false social and zip code in order to get through to a real foriegn person who still would not identify himself until I gave him the number that they called. He finally identified himself as countrywide, knew that I was not on my wife's account, and knew her name. Probably legit - profoundly poorly run outfit.

2007-11-26 23:01:57 UTCKEN

MY PAYMENT IS DO ON THE 15th BUT THEY START CALLING ON 1ST. I CAN’T STOP THEM. AND IF I MAKE A PAYMENT ON THE PHONE ON TIME, THEY STILL CALL FOR ABOUT A WEEK.

2007-10-20 15:00:38 UTCkiki

Countrywide loan saying they we collecting a debt. I called couldn't get a human on the line until I entered a fake SS# then they said I needed to speak with someone. The bottom line I don't have an account with them and they had my number attached to someone named Neil. They said they would delete it.

2007-09-11 19:19:31 UTCJim

Same as above. I called the 800-669-0102 number and got someone on the line. They looked up my number and found that someone else's info was routed to my #. They said they fixed the problem. Perhaps one of their disgruntled layoffs shuffled their client info to get even.

I received 10 calls from this number over three days. There was no caller I.D. and no messages were left. They are calling my cell phone.

I finally answered the call today. The man asked for Jose Garza.

After telling the caller that I was aware he has been calling many times over several days, I asked him what will it take for him to learn finally that there is no Jose Garza at this number and to quit calling my cell phone.

He apolgized and hung up never having identified himself.

This same thing happened abotu one month ago. If it is Country Wide and this is how it does business, no wonder C.W. laid off several thousand more people today.

It's Country Wide Loans most likley calling about your account past due

2007-03-01 15:31:14 UTCJeremy

This number left an unintelligible voicemail that said something about debt collection. When I called it back to find out who it was I got a recorded voice welcoming me to Loan Administration. The voice told me to enter my name and social security number (fat chance!) and would not allow me to speak to a representative until I had done so. Sounds like a phishing scam to me, as I have never taken out a loan or requested loan information nor do I have any debt or outstanding bills. Do not give these people your Social Security Number.

2 calls from this number in the same day 15 minutes apart.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
