I have been called many times by numerous "research" or telemarketing services and have discovered if you answer the phone. . ."________________Police Department, what is your emergency". The calls stop immediately!!

a man called saying it was a research call regarding radio stations in the area. i just said i listen to XM and they said thank you and hung up.

I have NEVER applied for Discover and i get them every day several times a day ...and no I'm not picking up

Not doing Discover right now. Doing cold calls for some phone related company trying to develop leads by having someone answer questions for a "survey". Forgot it. Maintain a personal "Do Not Call List" - it is called BLOCKING and it works great. No calls from BLOCKED number get through. Hey (800) 295-7193 call as often as you like as it will just keep ringing in your computer's ear with no answer - YOUR BLOCKED!

He's right, you guys checked the box yourselves that allowed Discover to make these calls to you. So, essentially, you apparently simple people told Discover, "Here's my phone number, go ahead and call me with things you're selling in the future!". Well, they're calling, and you morons forgot. Do you want to know the best way to get them to stop calling? PICK UP THE DAMN PHONE! They only need to here the words "not interested" and you're home free, never called again! You people are a joke. Instead of answering at least once to see what they want, you cry about the Do Not Call list that is apparently supposed to be a magical shield against any foreign phone calls. Jesus Christ people, use your brains!

Wow, you people are really hostile. I make those calls for a living and if you people had any sense you would listen for a second instead of being ignorant and in security of your 'do not call' programs you needlessly applied to. Answering Machines ARE the reason you get called multiple times in a row. The more you dodge the call the more calls you will get. And the 'do not call' list DOESN'T APPLY TO THIS because you YOURSELF applied to discover for a credit card and checked the box allowing you to be called for promotions. The DO NOT CALL list doesn't apply to you unless you actually say the words 'do not call'. Get off your high horse and open your ears for once, it's a good product.

I called back, got a recording that it was a sales call or marketing research call.

multiple calls, MANY blank 5-8 second voicemails with voices & noise heard in the background. when I finally answered the phone one time when I was home the person on the other end started their spiel about something fully telemarketer style....so then I queried the caller on why they were calling someone listed on the do not call registry, within 2 seconds they hung up on me. this is not the "discover card" as this site is saying it most likely is 1-800-295-7193 is definitely a telemarketing company (RDI research on my caller ID) as of 1-7-2009. file a complaint with the DNC registry, I just did.

THIS NUMBER CALLS 7 DAYS A WEEK EARY IN THE MORNING TILL ABOUT 9PM AWE NEVER ANSWER ANYMORE AND YET IT IS VERY ANNOYING!

It is funny, when they call I pick up and I hang up right away. They call right back, and I do the same. They wait a day or two and do it again.

Yesterday after receiving yet another call from this number I called the FTC customer help line yesterday to complain about how often this number calls and that no one is ever on the other end. They took my complaint but I don't know if they will do anything about it.

Also, the other day I was searching online and found recordings of different phone company error messages. So I copied the message you get when a phone number has been disconnected. When this number called yesterday I picked up the phone and played a recorded version of the disconnect phone message and then hung up. So far they haven't called back.

I've received 23 calls this month. In TEXAS, it is against the law to harass folks via telephone. I have contacted my local county attorney and asked them to consider filing this criminal complaint against the company. I have recorded rude, obnoxious behavior, and hope to set a precedent here. Here is the section of the statute I am using: "Causes the telephone of another to ring repeatedly or makes repeated telephone communications anonymously or in a manner reasonably likely to harass, ANNOY, alarm, abuse, torment, embarrass, or offend another."

Received 8 calls from this number in the past 11 days, but I haven't picked it up. My outgoing voicemail message has the "error" ring tone as the first thing you hear, so hopefully this will knock my number off their list.

These people call day and night calling themselves Discover Card.If an answering machine picks up the call,they dont leave a message.Discover Card should contact these scammers and shut the operation down.

Caller stated they were from a local radio station verifying information for a contest I had entered to win a Suburban. I confirmed my name when they first called because I was working and grabbed the phone without thinking.... But confirmed nothing else as I have entered no contests and it was a radio station I would not even be likely to listen to by accident.

They said they were Discover. I previously read about this number on this site, so I told the caller they were lying! I contacted Discover and told them about this phone number and closed my account. Too bad for me and them. I couldn't risk a chance of identity thief. I told Discover to do the leg work and find out who this 800 number belongs too. I did my part. I'm only the little guy. I received a blank call today (sunday), went to your service, and found Discovercard is one of apparently many companies used this telemarketing company. I called Discovercard, complained to them, and they said they "are working on this". I pointed out this creates a bad reputation for them, and FEWER people will buy their product if they continue to support companies like this who violate Federal and State laws.

It's Discovercard and they are asking you to buy identity theft coverage. They only speak to men, when they speak at all. They hang up on women and answering machines. You can register a complaint against them.

I get called by this number every day between 1 an 2 pm and again between 9 pm and 11 pm and there is no one there. When I call back the number I only get "you have been contacted for market research or a sales call" this has gone on for three weeks now.

I have received many calls from these folks. I googled there number and I get: LLC at Credit Protection Plus, I also called the 800 number and I reach a companies voice mail. They are a company that sells insurance if you become ill-they called yesterday and tried to sighn us up for their services. I told them we were not interested. I think their auto-dialer is left on sometimes and therefore calls and no one on the other line to throw their sales pitch.

They just told me they were calling from Radio Station 101.9 and wanted to touch base with local businesses. Asked for my name to be enrolled in a contest for $1,000. told them if they called me/my business, they should already know who I am, so knew they were not legit.

This number has called several times a day for the last 2 months. They called at 9:00 p.m. last night. This morning I finally managed to talk to a lady and asked her to please take our number off her list and she hung up on me.

He said that the call was on behalf of Discover. I called them, they apologized and took me off of their list. However, they were not able to promise that this company wouldn't calla again.

Eversince I switched from Verizon to Time Warner (Triple Play program), I get a lot of calls with "Unknown" ID. It might be that Time Warner's provider circulated my number or Verizon was pissed when I left them and decided to get back to me. I mean, I never had these many calls in a week from these low life phone number owners.

I don't pick-up if I don't recognize the number and I've a machine to take the message if I can't pick-up on a timely manner.

This comes up as Bello Services on my caller ID. Similar stuff with everyone else. Lots of calls, no answers, and if i let it ring through to the answering machine, and gave a busy signal.

If you call the number back a message says "You have been contacted for market research or sales call." There is no option to leave a message or talk to anyone.

Someone commented that it was silent for 30 seconds. HANG UP immediately. There is a scam where your line being used is going to your bill somehow. The FBI has a great site on their page fbi.gov which lists current internet crimes/scams. Useful info.

This phone number calls me many times every day and I plan on calling them back each time they call me. Actually talked to a person one time who said they were having trouble with their phone system.

whoever it is they call at least once a day. i have answered and nobody is on the other end, just silence. irritating. i called it back tonite and got a telephone company message, cant remember what it said. i will call them back every time they call from now on.

4 consecutive calls from these jokers (so far). I picked up each time and waited for a human. Their system hung up on me after 25 seconds each time.

This number calls at least once every single day. If I answer, no one is there. If I do not answer, no message is left.

Be careful. They tried to tell me they were my bank (which they named) and needed my information to send me a credit card. I told them that if indeed they were my bank, they'd have that information. She was rude and hung up on me.

My experience is similar to many here. My caller ID says, "TOLL FREE NUMBER". When I answer, they hang up. When I call back, I get a message that says, "You have been contacted for marketing research, or a sales call."

What I'd like to know is if there is any way to block these calls, or find out who these jokers are. I have Call Block, but it doesn't work on numbers in areas that don't have that feature. [Just brilliant.]

I'm starting to wonder if all of us on this page should bombard that number with calls on Monday. haha!

They just called saying "How this is Steve from 106 FM radio" or something and saying "tell me your name and I'll enter you into a contest to win $1,000".

How stupid are they? So obviously fake and it should be illegal!

Just got a call from this number. She said she was calling from 97.3 KSON Radio and San Diego and was calling to give peopel a chance to double there paychecks. I looked up kson.com and they are having some sort of contest. Possibly they hired this telemarketing company to make phone calls for them.

My understanding is that this is a shady, at best, collection agency. Talk about unscrupulous. Scumbags!!!!!!!

I asked how they got my number (my cell phone) and told them is was a private number. He said that he must have the wrong number.

This number called my house yesterday at 7 pm and when I answered it he asked for my mother. I had came to this website prior to this phonecall to find out who it was, so instead of giving the phone to her I asked who it was. He said his name was Ryan and he was with HBC Bank. I told him I knew they were trying to scam people out of their money and he needed to remove me from the call list. He acted awkward when I told him I knew they were scamming people. He told me it would take up to 30 days for my name to be removed.

They called me (3) times today. After the 2nd time, I looked up the number and found this website. The 3rd time they called and asked for my husband by his first name. I told him there was no one here by that name, and I asked why they were calling. "Steve" said he was calling on behalf of Discover Card. Today a young man FINALLY responded when I said HELLO! the 3rd time and he asked for my husband. I said he was not available, may I ask who's calling? The guy hung up!

As I was reading all the comments about this annoying number, my phone rang with this number on my caller ID for the 6th time today. Decided to answer! A very nice woman was on the line and told me she was from Discover card and wanted to send me a packet about some offers from Discover. I told her I wasn't interested. She thanked me for listening and said to have a nice day. I was so surprised, I was ready to tell somebody off!

Well they called again at 8:59PM and lo and behold some one was on the other end, I told this young man about the calls and he directed my call to a supervisor and she said she would remove my number, this company represents many fly by night companies for sales call or a marketing research they give the name of the company they are representing, tonight they wanted me to take a survey I became irate I also told them each state has laws about the time they are allowed to call. I also told them I filed two complaints against this phone number. They are very young people with no knowledge of the laws. I guess I will wait and see what happens now. greetings from Plymouth, MA. 8:30 last evening I answered a call from this number. What sounded like an automated voice from outer space (no kidding here) kept repeating my first and last name (but saying Joanne rather than Joan) and asking if it was me! The voice was extremely eerie and frightening to me and I'm sure would have a really devastating effect on an elderly person. Local phone company and FCC unhelpful. As my number is registered on the don't call me list, a complaint has been filed. Surely something can be done...this call was truly over the top. These people are truly nuts.

I contacted my cell phone provider, Sprint, to get them blocked and Sprint told me "no problem" and transferred me to technical who told me they don't have the capability to block phone calls...what a pain in pan!

These fools started their carpet bombing 24 Oct. On 25 Oct. I logged seven calls, from 10:00 through 18:25. In late afternoon ("dinner hour") they came less than half an hour apart. Certainly looks like the pattern of a trashy junk debtor, but political polling is just as likely as November looms. No one here has picked up, so I cannot add to the ID evidence.

For those who just want to get rid of the call, check to see if you have call blocking to block calls from a spcific phone number. I just found that it was bundled in my service for free. However, I'm not giving up on tracking down this scum.

This is a great site to find U.S. citizens that are being abused by unscrupulous scum. As a hobby and to help make America just a bit nicer, I am starting to get back at this kind of low-life. I just chalked up my second win, this time from the notorious health club billing leeches. I am going to start digging, and looking forward to others who might find some nuggets of info about these phone muggers.

800-295-7193 is most likely RJM Acquisitions, a shady junk debt collection agency taking over from repeated junk collection sellers, who tries to collect debt on accounts already written off by Visa, etc years ago. They purchase your account for pennies on the dollar and then jack up your actual debt owed to what they want. This IS ILLEGAL. the statue of limitations is usually 10 years or less according to each state. Once you make contact with them they can put this account back onto your credit for the next seven years. So screen the call, don't leave a voice mail identifying your last name, don't pick it up and by no means send them money. These are scum of the earth people. They are trying to trick the callers by saying they won something and send such and such amount in oder to claim the prize. Then they tell you you paid off the debt. They've called ~10 times in the last week, always hanging up after you answer, today, I answered with vulgarities and told them to quit calling, they said I'm rude and will NOT take me off this list.This is a violation of the no-call list. Research or not, you don't get any data when you hang up.(unless you just make up what you want people to think anyway) So why bother pissing people off?

I called it back and it told me "You have been contacted for a marketing research or a sales call" repeats twice; hangs up

Every other call I get is from this number. I've never actually talked to a live human being. It hangs up after 2 or 3 seconds.

at 10:30 AM - asked for my husband and said it was a courtesy call for PLANNED PARENTHOOD! I said you've got to be kidding, please remove us from your list for our privacy & I was HUNG UP ON.

These cocksuckers call 4 or 5 times a day, but never say a word. I called the number back to some half-ass recording about being contacted by a marketing firm or sales call. Screaa the assholes

Called Sunday 16 times in one hour. Called 8 times in one hour on Monday. Said it was a health survey. I said I didn't want any and hung up. Must have pissed them off. I just check caller ID every couple hours if working outside instead of running in to answer.

This 800 toll free number has harassed me for three months and today they have made 25 calls in 10 hours and I expect more before the day is through,as is usual for them. I am glad for my Caller ID system.

They called numerous times over past several weeks. I fnally answered and they asked about voting for local politicians. I told them I didn't want to say and the fellow became very hostile. Let's swamp their phone lines!!!

This number called today at 2:42PM. It has called countless times in the recent past. All my Caller ID says is "- TOLL FREE -", "800-295-7193".

I complained about this call at the FTC National Do Not Call Registry website at ftc.gov. I suggest that everyone already registered with the FTC Do Not Call list should also complain.

I use Sun Rocket VOIP. I can block their calls and see how many times they call. I agree with Bob call them back and swamp their lines Lets Do It !!!!!

I have gotten about 20 calls from this number. Lets give it to them. Block your number and call them about 60 times...They have to pay the bill. If everyone does they might get the message!!!!!

This number called me two times today, both times I did not answer. I tried to reverse number search (free) and nothing came up, however, US Search said there is info on this # .. for $14.95, is it worth it ?

I could not understand the person on the other end, but I did catch the name of a few politicians and I think he asked who I would vote for. I told him that I didn't want to talk to them. He immediately hung up on me before I could say anything else.

They've called me 3 times today - the first two were hangups/empty phone lines. I called them back and heard a recording: "You have been called for a research or sales call", then it hangs up. This last time I got some guy who called saying that he was going to "Double my chances to win" and asked me for my name. Having already read this site's info, I told them that I was on to them, but by the time I'd finished my sentance he'd hung up on me. I am on the do-not-call list and have been for years. Soooo.. how do we find out who this number is connected to and report it to the appropriate authorities???

I have looked this number up in Google as well, there was a site that had another report of a woman who answered and a man reading a script stated "we have been looking on the internet, and came across you website. It appears that you are a supporter of terrorism and we are going to report you."

Caller said he was from star 101.5 (seattle radio station) and he was going to tell me how to win $1000 over the weekend by listening, just needed my name first.

Asked for my wife, said they were "G. G. Money Bank," or something. I asked if they were selling something and they hung up. Weird.

Answered phone but no one there. Likely a computer dialer that waits till it verifies someone answered then passes you of to a human. Guess the software didn't work and it hung up right away.

My home phone was forwarded to my cell phone at the time. No company or name was listed in the caller ID on my cell. Only the phone number displayed. I will monitor if this number continues to call me and report back.

This number has called multiple times over the last week or so. Mostly we don't answer, but when our voice mail picked up, there was no one talking just back round noise and then a hang up. It is ten kinds of irritating. I would love to blast them for bothering me.
