How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Ok my cell phone has been cut off along with my sister and both my parents. My other sister can text me (she has at&t) but we can't call or text anyone. I tried to dial her number and I got redirected to "This is a legitimate call from Verizon Financial Service". Followed by the same message in spanish and then told by the same recording to stay on the line so that I could be connected to the verizon financial service for review... Bills are paid yet my phone acting all crazy what in the world is going on and who all is this effecting. I'm in Tennessee.
I KNOW IT'S A SCAM NOW.
Someone is posting this
"THE ANSWER IS !!!! This is a legitimate call from Verizon Financial Services. I received a similar call and spent considerable time with a Verizon Cust Service Rep who did a BRILLIANT JOB of sorting it out. The phone calls are computer generated -- therefore multiple calls and often hangups since they take the next call in the queue. That answers the hangups --- rightly or wrongly. The caller ID on the phone is legit and is what they use for outgoing calls. The reason they call is one of the following. You owe them. They have your phone number attached to someone who owes them. If you don't owe them, tell them to search your phone number and take your number off the account of the person who owes them. ---- They had my home phone number on someone elses account. They removed it and the calls stopped. Hope this answers everyones questions."
over and over again on different websites, all word for word identical...but the mans name it was posted by is different.

THIS IS DEFINITELY A SCAM!!!!!!!
Everytime I try calling my fiance (or anyone in fact), I get this stupid recording saying they are forwarding me to the Verizon Wireless Financial Services Department for review. The account is in my fiance's name; not mine. Im on his plan....but I KNOW we have paid this month. What gives? I can GET calls but can't make calls...
This is a Verizon collection agency. They've called me 10 times in 2 days harrassing me. Kicker is, I don't have an account with them, they're calling me for my brother!!!!! I'm not sure how to get rid of them yet. I've told them to stop harrassing me, I don't owe them anything. My brother doesn't live with me and I don't pay his bills.
This can't be Verizon. My account, and I'm ashamed to admit it, is almost always 30 days past due. The two or three times they disconnected my service, I've never gotten a phone call. I'll get a text message about the same time I get my bill and then about 2 weeks later, I'll get a "pay up or else" letter. They don't waste their time in contacting you outside of what I've stated above. Why would they, if you don't pay, your phone gets shut off and then you'll call them. The guys will know what I'm talking about here. This is like like those bikini clad women on myspace that send us friend requests and try to scam us. Suppose there are a lot of stupid and desperate dudes out there.
They called me yesterday and said my phone will be shut off at 4:57 ??? the today if I didnt return the call. I didnt return it and it is now 6:22 and my phone still works.
I had been receiving these calls at home for months. I screen my calls and do not pick when it is "Verizon Wireless Financial Services." I do not have a Verizon account!!! I may call the real Verizon to let them that I listed my number in the Do not Call list and to stop calling me if it is them. According to some of you it is not, some say it is the real Verizon... It all sounds very strange!
All the 949 numbers listed are from Verizon Wireless Financial Services. If you owe them money even when your service is still active the harass the hell out of you. After demanding that they stop for over 6 months I got nothing. The supervisor even lied to me about them having a fax number. All I would get in response was an explination of why the calls were happening. One day I some how got the manager at one of the stores to call the number and request the fax number for me. I have it.
The fax number to Verizon Wireless Financial Services is 1-908-306-5324. Fax them over a written letter asking them to stop calling. Include your number or account number. After recieving the fax, by law they must stop and they can be sued.
What a great class action lawsuit this would make huh?
I am with cingular/ATT, no verizon account whether home or cell, and I have been receiving calls from the same number each day for the last three days asking me to call back to confirm the activation of my Verizon account. Called back 949-286-3311, got an answering machine saying "Thank you for calling Verizon Wireless, please note our number changed and is now 1-800-754-0961. Please hold while we direct you to this number" I then land on another Verizon Wireless answering machine for financial services who asks me to enter my ten-digit telephone number. Same if I dial the 1-800-754-0961 directly. Called Verizon Wireless, real customer number indicated on their website, said this was probably a mistake and would fix it... I didn't feel like leaving all my contact informations to them so hang up... Best thing to do if you have no business with them is ignore those calls!
This is a scam, phising for checks, credit card data, etc. I called Verizon about it and was told that it was not genreated by them. DO NOT give them any information. The first call came a couple months ago, and now in Dec. 2007 they are starting again. The recorded voice that opens the message changed when giving my last name. That is a good tip-off. Be careful, my friends.

Get this call on my home phone every morning saying we need to call Verizon financial services at 800-277-4542 regarding our past due account. Verizon doesn't have our home number and they only call the main cell # on our account for any issues. We are paid up to date. This is a spam for ID theft. Never call this # only call Verizon directly, *611. If you don't answer the call eventually your number will fall out of their automatic dialer.
This is definately a scam!! After receiving a call from them every morning for that last three days, I called the 800-249-2462 back. The automated msg. was looking for a person by the name of Louise. Who I am not. I pressed the number to tell them they had the wrong person. And I am still receiving phone calls. I pretended to be Louise the next time and got a past due amount for $162. I immediately called Verizon by pressing *611 on my cell. I am current with my payments and that amount does not exist on my account. DO NOT PAY THEM!! You would have received a hard copy of the past due amount in the mail if this was true!!
I called Verizon Wireless directly using the customer service number on their website. They verified that it was their own Financial Services department, and transferred me over to them. The phone number they told me to call was the 800 number, but the caller ID listed the 949 number.
If your Verizon account is past due you will receive this call. If you call the number an automated attendant will tell you the account balance, when your last payment was received and so on. If you want to talk to a real person regarding your account I think you need to call the other number.
just said the 800# and no other message
No - has nothing to do with Verizon accounts. It is a scam wanting information they have no right to. Call the real Verizon at 800-483-3000
verizon. accounts past due
