They also own topcarsnow.com, dealsnowusa.com, tophomesnow.com, etc. I have been plagued with text messages from them with no way to "unsubscribe" (funny as I have never subscribed to ANYthING with my cell number) except to text them back or visit their website, which requires that I give them MORE information.
Thefinancespot.com and all their subdomains are hosted by theplanet.com in Dallas Texas. All domains are registered through domainsbyproxy.com in Arizona. All actual contact info for thefinancespot is blocked. My suggestion? Flood theplanet.com and domainsbyproxy.com with phone calls complaining about these people. Notify the Better Business Bureau in both Scottsdale AZ and Dallas TX. Do not, under any circumstances, attempt to opt-out by filling out an online form which requires you give them any info about yourself.

My cell service is through T-Mobile. I called them and had them block 77893. I'll let you know if this works.

My wireless provider is Verizon Wireless. I simultaneously received 2 spams text messages on my personal mobile phone from numbers 778-93 and 778-58 on 05/20/10 at around 6 PM; each message contained different advertisements but I have since deleted them so I do not have the exact text.
Today, at around 10 AM, I again received a message from 778-93. It reads:

Okay, here's the scoop according to Verizon Wireless.

The company sending the various texts from 77893 is The Finance Spot, which is located at thefinancespot.com

The operator from Verizon Wireless told me to do three things.
1. Reply back to the message with only the word Stop. She says, by law, the company must stop sending messages if you respond with Stop.
2. Go to thefinancespot.com and click on Unsubscribe at the bottom - here is the direct address: thefinancespot.com
3. Update your phone's software.

I have done all of the above plus my company has paid for spam blocking on the account. I am hoping this all works.

I contacted Verizon about this and as of 4/19/2010 they supposedly have disconnected these scammers from their network. If YOU HAVE VERIZON AND ARE STILL GETTING THESE please post here. Whatever your service provider, I suggest calling customer support and ask for "Tier 2" support. Tell them about this situation and request that they disconnect this spammer from their network. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, REPLY TO THIS OR ANY OTHER SPAMMER, regardless of whether or not your carrier's support tells you to do so. By doing so, you verify not only that you are a live person, but that you actually took the time to read the message rather than delete it as most people do.

Also, remember that this is illegal whether or not you are in the Do-Not-Call list. File a complaint for each text spam with the FCC at esupport.fcc.gov (Click on "Wireless" then the first option on the next page.)

Finally, you can ask your service provide to block SMS spam originating from "short codes" or email. However, 77893 evades these filters somehow. Verizon has not yet provided me with info how.

go to esupport.fcc.gov, download the form and file a complaint against this organization. It is the only way to stop them from harrassing us.
