My friend called me using Google Voice. 760 area code looks weird, though.

My phone rang around 2:15am this morning. It only rang once and I didn't answer it.

I got a call from this number 7607058888 over 5 times and even left a compleatly mute voicemail. I blocked the number but it`s kind of scary to get repeatedly unanswered phonecalls between 3:09 and 3:30 AM!! stop it google

R.H. These Kimelmans have sophisticated equipment to hack into our phones and email so relax. These boys will get caught soon. Hopefully someone will post information on how to bust their heads. I've got a great kick waiting for them.If they ever prank my phone again, the police in my town are waiting.

760-705-8888 is the generic Google Chat and Google Voice Phone number all Google chat users are assigned as caller ID, and it is the same number no matter what Google account a person is calling you from. Goggle Voice will use the account number of the caller when they have had one assigned, but for those callers without a Google Voice number assigned, calls from the Google Mail website screen report caller ID of "Unknown" and 760-705-8888

Using a GMail account 760-705-8888 appears as caller ID.

With the domestic call phone capability in Google Chat, we can probably expect more scam calls from 760-705-8888 to start appearing on our phones.

I got a call from a telemarketer. I reported them to the Do Not Call Registery. I am on the Do Not Call Registery. However, it is against the law to call someone using a recorded message, and this caller did use the answering machine, so even if I were not on the Do Not Call Registery, it is still illegal to call, and leave a message, so I registered a complaint against this phone number at the Do Not Call Registery at: 1-888-382-1222. Each time they call they have to pay a fine to the government.

Also, if they are asked not to call again, they no longer can call again, either, even if I did business with them. I never did any buisness with them, either.

This caller told me they got my number from the Internet, and we do not know each other, and had a product I may be interested in that is a Natural Health Item, and to go to a website if interested.

I am on the Do Not Call Registery, and it is against the law to call and leave voice messages like this. This is the reason they got reported and I registered a complaint against that number. This company will get fined until the phone calls stop. I do not care who's phone number is calling illegally. If it does not stop, the owner of this phone number will have big fines to pay.

Received this call last night. I let vmail pick it up. Its someone who claims we know them by saying it's me and then starts to talk about electricity and gas and how we can save, it is something his attorney had told him about etc etc. Gives the site as electricandgas and to check it out , they have referrls and if others sign up, he can make a couple of bucks. I will not go look at the site, it could be a virus or a way to hack into your computer, or a way to access your banking info who knows

This *&^^ began pestering me with phone calls at first once in a while then I recieved a letter in the mail about me having an affair with a co-worker (the co-worker was legit but not the affair) not sure how this dick got her name other than maybe a social networking site or work website. The letter was detailed about all kinds of crap we supposedly did together. Total bullsh%*!! I have heard this has happened to a few other people but there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it other than to be a complete douchebag!

I screen my calls and my # is not in my full name. Assume they just randomly pick people. I know this area code--Riverside County, CA. I haven't answered (DON'T) and they don't leave VMs. They call @ night: 2/2/13 at 10ish and today (2/3/13) at 7ish. Find a freaking hobby loser!

i got a call on my cellphone from this number on thursday january 3rd around 3:30 pm. it was a voice recording of this man with a really deep voice saying that he's from the RAAA and that they have proof that i've been illegally downloading music (which i haven't) and that i have to pay some thousands of dollars for it. immediately after, i googled the RAAA only to find a forum about the same scam prank-call i'd gotten. since i knew it was a scam i wasn't really too startled by it until late last night when a close friend of mine got a call from an unknown number asking her specifically for MY contact information. it could just be a coincidence, but it's still pretty creepy...

This number does not stop calling me. If I answer, no one speaks. If I don't no one leaves a voicemail. They typically call late at night all through the night. Recently, they called me 27 times within a span of 48 hours. FINALLY BLOCKED IT

This call came in on my cell phone at 1:45 a.m. I didn't answer it. Later, I'll check to see if the caller left a message.

Said his name was John and that he was sending out tshirts and hats because of a surplus from corporate office and that he needed cellphone numbers to send access code via text. When he sent the first code, it was automated with a code, so I'm thinking it may be legit. Then he asked for a cell # to send second code, gave him that he sent code via text. Then he asked for third # cause he could not send different code to previous #. This time the code he sent was not the code he was looking for, he wanted another #, even a non=employee. Then I asked for his # and he hung up.

Got a call from this number, answered the phone and there was a lot of background noise as well as a series of beeps like you would get if it were being recorded or something. I said hello multiple times and then finally some guy Responded with hello...then asked me my name. I didn't give it to him and asked for his name then he hung up. Weird.

This number called me stating that I had responded to an ad on craigslist for a job and that I had to go in at 9am the next day. I got an address from him and when I looked up the address it said that the whole building was empty and available for lease.

Believe that This # is now being used by a sleazy home-based internet information selling side business type outfit using name "Peak 10 Publishing llc". I have had a very negative experience with this outfit; they run splashy, attention-grabbing ads on various credible websites advertising that they can give you highly secretive & insider information on how to survive a food or energy shortage ,etc. They offer the whole "survival package" of info for only a $7 trial AND they will give you a full 21 days to decide if you want it. Well they sent it out 10 days later, not on time, & still charged my credit card the full price - ALL while going against their promises. When I try to reach them they only will list a email address to email their "support dept" and they will respond. I promptly sent an email to this email address, 3 days later no answer from them. I then get annoyed & start researching how to get a REAL phone # on this sleazy outfit. After prodding around I find a 800 # and call. A cheap old-fashioned style answering machine picks up with no options to speak live to a real person. Just options to leave messages for various reasons then someone will respond back. I leave a DETAILED message, but 2 days later- NO response. Nw VERY annoyed, so I start researching deeper into who this really is. THIS SEEMS LIKE A VERY SLEAZY, SNAKEOIL SALES STYLE KITCHEN TABLE RUN BOILER ROOM OPERATION selling information. DON"T FALL FOR THIS OUTFIT'S PITCH! They just want your credit card & then there is NO intro "trial period"! SCAM

Try hitting the # key about 5 or 6 times it usually creates interferences that cause the nuisance to drop the call it worked for me. And fyi on a rare occasion if you don't answer and it goes to ur voice mail and you check it only to hear yourself having a private conversation when u were obviously not on ur phone they have been monitoring ur conversation(s). If so save ur voicemail and report it to the authorities and ur device provider . Nope this helps

These calls stated just over a month ago just after i evited a drug dealer from my rental unit. The caller asked me how much rent i was chargeing i said its not for rent how did she get my phone number thats when she started curseing at me and i hung up now i get 3 or more calls a week from this number i just pick up and hang up the calls come in at different hous of the day and nite. I googled the number to find this shit. Its crazy but what makes it worth while is i was lucky enough to get the shit out of this bicth the day before she moved out i had caught her in my back yard steeling my gardening tools. And i let her half it i tossed her like a rag doll from one end of the yard to the next. I was surprized how much i enjoyed that. Stupid druggie called the reno pd and they were more than on my side in that she was on my property. Besides that they fell in love with my english bulldog deliela. i just wish she had teeth i could have knocked out.

He knew my name, called and said something obscene. This was related to something personal (I was a crime victim and I am female) that no one would know unless they knew me. I told him if he ever called again, I would call the police. Then I found his info--and texted it back to him! I've blocked his number, so, if he passes a block by fake electronic means (another fake number) it's a felony and he's going to jail.

This number has called me numerous times and comes up as DatBoys Data Recovery.

Upon answering, a VERY rude man talks to me and is nothing but a total asshole. He says strange things, makes the most wierd accusations then on top of that, he threatens to sue me and begins a speech as if he's god's gift, about how he's so right.

The sheer number and variety of scams reported under this number should tell you that it could be and has been misused by anyone for any purpose. You're not going to trace everything back to one person as a chronic spammer in league with soundboard prankers like ''Anthony56'' would have you believe.

760 705 8888 is a number that the Google Voice service uses for customers that do not have registered phone numbers. Have tested this. If you are getting harassing phone calls from this number, it is someone up to no good using their computer to hide. Best to pick this one up though as it could be someone you know calling as well.

This number was an automated call from Walmart letting me know that my prescription that the doctor called in directly was ready to be picked up.

I did not answer, this came in on my cellphone...no message left...annoying! 6:49 PM eastern time, traditional telemarketing calltime...

When I reversed look up I got results from three different states although the caller ID indicated the call originated in Escondido, CA. How is this possible? The other states were Georgia, Maine

REMEMBER people, DO NOT give out any information to this FRAUDULENT business in Belmont, I'm currently trying to get in contact with the BBB, (that's Better Business Bureau if you're unaware of what that is) and file a complaint against this business for harassing phone calls and attempted credit card scams. He calls people up that are he thinks are at a hotel and tries to get personal information claiming to be some sort of executive of Verizon and tries to get personal information out of you. DO NOT give this creep any of your personal information, and yes, that even includes your NAME! I recommend using a fictitious name. I know he's using a program called SKYPE to initiate the calls and 'spoof' his telephone number. For those unaware of the term 'spoof' it's a new thing scammers are doing to alter their number that shows up on your caller id, I've contacted them about as well and they've agreed to provide me with log files to be used in court. But anyways, I'll be keeping you guys updated on here so we can finally put a stop to this, he's not gonna get away with this. See, you guys can't just give up like that. You have to be persistent and follow through with procedure if you want to accomplish results. That's how you become KNOWLEDGEABLE! Trust me, that's been my life motto. But enough about me LOL, let's put a stop to this. If you have been getting called by this 760 number then you are probably being a victim of a credit card scammer. I'm sorry to hear that you've been a victim as well. What you need to do is call your local law enforcement and put a trap on your line like I did. Also, call your phone company and ask to speak to somebody higher up in management (that's the only way you'll get somewhere) and explain the situation. I believe we an put a stop to this guy if enough people voice their grievances. I've been rounding up some the other victims and I've heard some of their stories, and I've come to realize we're dealing with somebody who's deranged and potentially dangerous. I plan on having my lawyer call sometime tomorrow to inform him legal action is being pursued. You wouldn't believe the stories I've heard from the other victims, I'm starting to think this guy is maybe mentally unstable or has some sort of mental illness if he's doin' all this s**t (if what people say is true). I'm thinking that his 'business' is actually in fact running some sort of scam here to get credit card numbers, because in one call I remember him yelling at saying 'What hotel are you at?' and giving multiple false aliases in an attempt to trick me. Simultaneous calls on both phone lines in my house. This usually indicates a spammer using a phone book attack via a robot dialer. One message was left which consisted of 30 seconds of deep breathing noises and at least a half-dozen people yelling in the background.

Unfortunately, I can't block this number because I have a friend who has called me using Google Voice.

Hey everyone, with the help of my local police department in Tuscon, AZ, I've proceeded to trace the harassing phone calls down to a business in Belmont, Massachusetts. I've discovered information about the owner of the establishment via google and I'm in the process in filing a law suit against this guy. From my research I've discovered, his name is Chris Perron and it appears he's pissed off a lot of other people and business owners (according to negative feedback on his Merchant Circle account as well as other places). You guys can even see it for yourself, just type the guy's name (Chris Perron) and the business (Datboys Data Recovery) into a google search engine, you can see that guy has got some serious problems and definitely needs psychiatric help. So long story shot, if you have also been receiving death threats and harassment from this guy like I have then please contact me via email so I can link you with some references to put this creep to a stop and end the harassment. By the way everyone, Satan destroys his own!

Caller ID shows the name as Maura Collins at 706-705-8888. This person claims to be calling from Australia going through Google call. Wants you to open up a German Bank account (reuschel.zzl.org) to link with your on line bank account in the states so he can transfer money from his German bank account to your German bank account and you then transfer it to your American bank account. But he says you have to have $200 to open the German bank account and link it with your American on line banking. YEAH RIGHT. Do I look STUPID or something?!?!?

Recording said to confirm my business listing. That's when I hung up and entered the number on my phone as a "no ring". You can use 'silent' or 'none' as a ringtone and never be bothered again. By the way, if you block 74.125.*.* on your computer firewall, Google cannot access your computer.

Whenever I see the Google Voice number (760-705-8888) now, I always expect it to be a nuisance call. So, when both lines in my house rang simultaneously and showed this number on their Caller IDs, I knew that it was going to be phone spam.

And, sure enough, it was the ridiculous "Your computer has a virus" scam. As one of my friends (a cranky nonagenarian) says, these scumbags need to be shot with a ball of their own sh*t.

I am receiving calls that switch from my home phone to my cell phone after two rings with no message left and when I call back I get a recording to try again.

Received this call twice this morning on my business line (which is registered). No one on the other line.

We got a call from this number. It was our son in Paris, France, trying to call us. The connection was terrible, and we could only hear a few syllables each time he tried to call. I guess somehow the international call is routed through this number? I tried calling it back, but a recording said they could not complete the call.

Received 2 calls this evening from this number "Escondido CA" on caller id. Same woman each time. There was a rooster crowing in the background both times! Was she calling from a chicken coop?? She wanted to send me a brochure about the latest and greatest "gadgets". I told her I was on national Do Not Call and that I will report the violation!

This is from Google Voice - Could be a legitimate call from someone you know, but beware - it could be ANYBODY. Legitimate business will NOT call from this number. Tell them nothing, give them nothing.

I answered and had a VERY interesting and revealing conversation with this indian sounding man who made this unsolicited call from EB Homes Air Duct Cleaning ?? (or something like that? I tried doing a 2-way record but since I don't do that a lot I screwed it up..)

The man on the line who called me (I did not get his name) admitted that he got my number from the net .. precisely from Gmail. Now my fiance just got his Gmail account hacked. Coincidence? Perhaps but I am still investigating this one. This scammer called the wrong person!

First of all, I have his number (760-705-8888 - he said he was calling from Canada because I asked what country he was calling from with his accent and all and me not being familiar with the area code) and I am on the National DO NOT CALL Registry (which I checked and it is NOT expired yet). When I made mention of this he said something in his language to someone else in the room and then hung up on me. All I understood was "Do not call" .. didn't get a chance to ask to be taken off the calling list.

Received more calls today from the same spammer/scammer using Google Voice that called on March 16 (see my earlier entry below). Same routine as before where they called both phone lines in the house, indicating a "phone book attack (i.e. running sequentially through the names in a phone book).

Said they wanted to have a conference call? It was a young lady with a weird, foreign accent.

Whoever it was called at 3:15AM CDT! What? They happened to call the number of the nonprofit I volunteer for. I keep the cell phone for the organization. Did not answer as I knew it was a crank. They did not call my own cell or my home number.

I just received a call direct to my phone number. Luckily I have my VoIP system configured not to ring my phones at night, so I won't be getting any calls at night.

Some woman with a thick Asian accent that spoke in broken English claimed to be from a Paradise Travel. I told her that I am on the do-not-call-list and to remove my number from her list and to never call here again.

Caller stated his name was Christopher and was my nephew living in Ontario. I have no nephew named Christopher. I asked him how his parents are doing. He said OK. He asked what me and my wife were doing today. I asked why he was interested since he was in Ontario (Calif. I presume). He hung up.

Some phone spammer/scammer or another calling via Google Voice. I have two phone lines in the house; one started ringing right after the other one hung up. Obviously, this spammer is just going through the phone book sequentially.

I got a call form this son of a bitch called Jaswinder(may change names in future), phone # 1(760)705-8888 - google generated call, clamming to

be dish network representative (called me over the course of 6 months). He said he will give me 1 year free trial with dish network, if i pay $100 at the

beginning and end of year. He convinced me to pay $150, and messed up my account with dish network. Add some

programing, which I will have to pay for. This Son of Bitch Jaswinder, gave me his cell phone # which turns out to

be a fake. He said he will be in trouble if i don't pay with his supervisor, but when i wanted to talked to his

supervisor, the supervisor don't come out of his office and talk to people. He made me send money to Pakistan,

fucking guy, told me some money is going to Sikh temple. He took swear on name of god that he is not a cheat. But

this Fucking guy is an absolute cheat. His so called company's servers would always be down, and never gave me his

phone number and extension. That Fucker, I am very pissed, for not that I lost money, because I trusted him and he

simply stabled me in the back. If you ever talk to this guy tell him that there is someone out there looking for

telemarketers are fucking cheat, if u feel even a little unsatisfactory. I just wanted to add that the money he had

me transfer to Pakistan, and the name of the guy picked up was(fucking) Awias Nasir, from Lahore. Don't fall for

the trap, and I am trying to post this on as many sites as possible.

Received a call on feb 17, 2010, 6:19 pm. Caller, whose voice sounded almost robotic, asked for me by name -- actually, by my first initial and full last name, which is how I am listed in phone book -- then asked me to confirm my address, which he had. Said he was calling from HydroConnect, which I mis-heard as HydroQuebec, then quoted my average monthly consumption. He then said he could offer me a device I could plug into the wall or into a phone outlet, and it would reduce my consumption by 30%. I played along and said this sounded interesting, so he said he'd pass me to his supervisor.
The supervisor then repeated the same obviously scripted text the first guy had said, so I cut him off and said his colleague had already gone through this. This second man tried to continue with his script, so I interrupted again. he then he could offer me a product that would allow for a savings on my electricity bill.
That's when I told him that it seemed as if he was trying to sell me something, and his colleague had never mentioned that I would have to pay for anything. "So, how much does it cost?" I asked.
"It's not a cost, it's a SAVINGS for you. Plus, you can apply to get a refund on this.":
"Uh-huh," I said. "How much will this money-savings device cost?"
"$159..." was the response.
That's when I said nope, goodbye, and hung up.
Called back, but got the familiar "cannot be completed as dialled" message.
Directory services told me the number was a business # registered to "Guy Google." Makes sense, according to other posters here reporting that it is a Google Phone number.

Definitely someone I DO NOT KNOW. They just called again! I yelled at them and told them this is a cell phone and they have the wrong phone number. I guess there is nothing to be done when they misuse the google calling number. I'll just add as a contact and program with no ring so I won't be bothered. This is a telemarket...I could hear other callers in the background.

Sounded like a telemarketer who asked for someone I never heard of. Called at 6:21pm (did not answer and no msg was left) and again at 7:18pm (answered). I told them to quit calling, we'll see if they comply. Definitely someone I know.

Received a call from this number of who apparently has some personal info on me. I realized it was a scam when he wanted me to verify info, and had told me a company I work with is sending me free perfume and an iPod. I told him I wasn't interested in being scammed today and he was like "Oh! Wait Wait!" =P - Google should definitely consider disabling their call service for these purposes.

I figured a theory after reading a few pages here...
I recently ran an ad on craigslist, using my Google voice ph number. This person must have got the number from my craigslist ad and then dialed me. They didnt say anything but I heard breathing and a grasp as if I caught them "off guard" when I answered.
I then blocked the number on my Google voice account.

Caller claimed to be from Medicare and requested date of birth and social security number. Fraudulent call.

Someone from this number called my cell phone and left a message. The caller said "my name, this is Aniss Fletcher, please stop calling, emailing, texting, sexing my husband Kevin Fletcher. I mean come on dont do it any more" When I tried to call back I got a recording "were sorry you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service"

5:59pm. left no message.

I received a call from 706-705-8888 asking for the owner by name. The caller mispronounded the owner's name so that was a dead giveaway that it was a telemarketer. I told the caller the owner was not in the office and she asked when he would be back. I asked her what the nature of her call was and she said she was calling the owner regarding some literature she sent him in the mail last week and that he knows about it. She would not give me the name of the company she worked for, so I asked her if she was a telemarketer and she said no. I advised her that the number she dialed is on the National Do Not Call Registry and that if she called again I was going to report the number to the Massachusetts Attorney General. After I hung up the phone, I called the number back (after pressing the *67 feature) and I got a recording that said the number I was trying to reach was either disconnected or not in service.

I've received several calls on this number over the last couple of months, but nobody has answered when I pick up. I've asked friends and family if they are calling me via Gmail, but none have. So, I'm not sure what the purpose of these calls might be.

My mother received a call from this number. Caller said he was from Microsoft, and told her that her computer was sending out viruses. He asked her to go to her computer and follow his directions to fix the problem. She played the dumb card and told him she didn't know how to turn it on, had never used it before, etc. He asked who used it, she said her husband and daughter. The caller then wanted to know where they were and when they would be back to take his call. He said he would call back in 4 hours before his shift was over. He actually called back about 10 minutes later, but she did not answer. I advised her next time to tell him he should be ashamed of himself for calling from Google pretending to be Microsoft.

Someone calling from 760-705-8888 has called my land line/home phone number two Sundays in a row at approx. 1:30a.m. The first time the person called and left a bunch of expletives on the answering machine. Last night when they called and got the answering machine they waited and just left no message and hung up. I have tried using call block * 60 for that phone number but it won't work. I am going to the police in addition to turning it in twice to my phone company. There must be a way to prevent these nuisance calls.

They're using Google Caller to call you. It's probably someone you know using their computer on Google to make free phone calls (you can do it to). They're probably trying to trick you.

It is one of the phone numbers for Google Voice. Anyone with Gmail can use it directly from their Gmail account to make free domestic calls. In this case, it could be a prankster, a telemarketer or a friend / relative. Unfortunately, you can't tell unless you answer or screen the calls with an answering machine.
