KSG and D: Since you each have a ''not me'' defense, send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. You might also consider documenting all calls and filing suit depending on how ''harsh, intimidating'' and ''unprofessional'' you found these reps.

If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and the means to sue at low cost. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support. Also, you don't need to pay some lawyer shark who doesn't even live near you to write the same dispute letters you can compose yourself, as suggested here by a shill in early 2009.

I think a simple link to Justia or wherever you got this laundry list you've also been dumping on 800Notes would have sufficed. Yes, yes, West Asset is a rotten collector attracting lawsuits. Don't they all .... and the proper acronym is FDCPA.

Of somewhat more use are these fun facts: West Asset Management is part of the Fred Hanna crime family of debt collectors, a name associated with the worst industry practices, not to mention forcing employees to work in a ''sick building''.

West Asset Management was fined $2.8 million in March 2011 by the FTC for chronic FDCPA violation. This civil penalty set a new record high for the industry. WAM's crimes were no different from those of its peers: runaway skip tracing, abusive and hostile phone reps, illegal threats, privacy violation, ignoring 'no-call' demands, wrongful seizure of savings, outright lies .... on and on, practically every part of FDCPA trampled on like the victims.

They called me yesterday and asked me how I wanted to pay my bill, check or credit, in a very harsh, intimidating way. I came right back at them and said Neither, since I do not owe this bill and then hung up on her.

These people keep calling and automated message says they want to talk to Pete Lucero, who not a person known to us, has never lived here or had this phone number. They give 3 options to press a number to tell them about Pete Lucero, none of which is an option to say you have the wrong number, leave me the hell alone. I have called them several times and always got a rude, unprofessional response when I tell them to take my number off their list, no Pete or any other Lucero here.

I am disputing a bill that went to collection.
They call every week or so, but I made a
silent ringtone, assigned it to them and life is good :)
It's only a phone call, have fun with it.

I have rec'd a phone call everyday from this company for the pass six weeks. I am NOT the person they are looking for and can not get them to STOP!

2009-08-11 15:07:50 UTCWild Foxx

Calls everyday-never leaves a message-dont know who theyare or what they want. Read all the comments below--it could be from hospital debt already paid.

2009-07-20 22:56:29 UTCLaura

They keep calling and calling even after we have repeatedly told them to not call our number. They are looking for a name of a person that I do not even know. They never leave a message and sometimes hang up even when we answer. I have complained to the national do not call and would suggest others do as well. donotcall.gov

I am getting calls about 3 or 4 times a days from this tel# 757-209-2013. Most of the time no one says anything and thebn it hangs up. I get a call about 9am, 2pm and 845pm every day except Sunday.

Don't talk to debt collectors on the phone. If you answer this call, don't confirm any information. Just politely and firmly ask them not to call again and to instead contact you only by mail. Then go to creditboards.com and read up about how to properly handle debt collectors. And watch out, collectors will pretend to be on your side, offering advice and setting up websites that look like they are there to help you.

If you don't know exactly what you are doing talking to a collector can put you on the hook for debts you would not otherwise have had to pay.

Craig, I have tried to file with BBB but when I'm not at home, I do not have enough information to fill out a form > > > What do you suggest? I have already hired an attorney & he is NOT real happy about all of this so he is getting all the information left on my answering machine or CID. THey finally stopped calling me at work.

Today the call was from 757 209 2013, West Asset Mgt.--- a nuisance call about a so-called debt. I've received five calls from 866 613 4835 and two calls from 866 882 5831 and 866 882 5881. All these calls are about a debt that is not mine.

2009-04-06 15:46:28 UTCsickntired

calling me everyday and never leave message but call repeatedly. they wont say who they are what they want. i blocked them finally

2009-02-18 02:18:49 UTCDebra

They wanted me to get a prepaid card, deposit money in it and then have them debit the card. I asked them for their address so I could send money once the account was validated and they hung up on me. They are predators and will seek out the weak and those without knowledge about the fair debt collection act. We signed up with pre-paid legal for $17 a month and now can go after these predators with a top rated law firm which will write letters on your behalf. We also hired Lexington Law Firm to validate all our derogatory credit items and have thus far deleted 8 items including three judgements. Please email me at dholguin1@yahoo.com if you would like for information and links to the above companies.

They also call from (240)210- 7086 and (703) 291- 9045. I looked up the (757) 209-2013 and it's a Sprint carrier. Really shady!!!!!

2009-02-05 01:30:49 UTCjf

They are rude. Plus, I think if they know our name, then they should have to make theirs available instead of blocking.

2009-01-15 17:44:16 UTCRachel English

This doesn't seem like a valid collections agency. The people are rude and unprofessional. I don't think it would be wise to offer any kind of payment to these people.

2008-10-23 19:48:29 UTCNoodle Doodle

low life collection agency that purchases outstanding accounts from hospitals and inundates you with calls. Search the web for complaints about them.

2008-10-09 14:49:48 UTCjh

2008-10-03 05:08:35 UTCRyan

2008-10-02 19:14:33 UTCJoe

Caller ID states Williamsburg, VA however; they want you to call them back at 888 516-3287 claim to be a debt collection agency believed to be using caller ID spoof and questionably may be connected to the law office of paul j coleman who use unfair debt collection practices usually trying to collect debts that have already paid or are past statue of limitation. They lie and harass and berate you when talking to you and threaten

2008-10-02 18:15:39 UTCTy

Some kind of Debt Collector

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
