they called yesterday asking for my sister by name. i told him she hasn't lived here since 1975. they gave me a number (1-800-947-6229) for me to give to my sister so she can call them about a problem with her account with Macy's. they gave me this number when i kept refusing to give them her contact number. i contacted my sister and she thanked me for not giving them any info about her because our number is not conected to ANY credit cards she has. this is very very annoying.

Same here.. in Upstate NY.. annoying as hell! (727) 556-7300

I've been getting these calls too. when I answer the call it seems to disconnect? Who are these people? They are getting on my nerves already.

This number call me day and night
Don't know what they call for

John, your lack of an account may not protect you. MCCS behaves like the worst third party junk debt collectors. You'll see quite a few comments here and elsewhere regarding what sounds like sloppy skip tracing. It's entirely possible for Macy's or CitiGroup to hand off accounts to a third party which illegally chooses to dress up like its client.

2011-11-17 23:06:08 UTCJohn

I keep getting calls from this number and caller ID says MCCS. When I answer I get nothing, no one on the line. I tried calling it back and I got a representative that was definitely NOT in the US. I could barely hear through the static and could not get him to give me the company name. I finally got frustrated and hung up. FYI, it isn't Macy's, I don't have a Macys account.

These people keep calling my house about 10 times a day. I even disconnect my home phone of how aggrivating and annoying it is. I once talked to one of them and they asked for my parents. I said that they were out of the country and asked if they would like to leave a messege and they just hanged up. I have reserched this number some say its a Macy's number, but the technology now a days is so incerdible I think its some wierd people. Its really scary and freaky. Has anyone heard of bluffing a call? There are websites where you can appear on caller id as another number.

They hung up on my voice mail -- called at 8:20 pm. Scum lowlifes.

Hannah, Disgusted, Micky, and many others:
Again I say .... Federal DNC registration does not offer blanket protection from every unwanted call in creation. The DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales, meaning all debt collectors are exempt. The following URL links to the FTC FAQ page which the DNC site *twice* coaxed you to read before you registered your numbers. See items 28 through 32.
ftc.gov

Macy's Credit Card Services (MCCS) calls to collect debts as an original creditor, often making lots of trouble in doing so, but the calls are still exempt from DNC list scrubbing. Complaints would be better directed toward the FTC and attorneys general. See if your state has its own collections laws which apply to original creditors for more defenses. Obviously if you find a spoofer has ''borrowed'' a MCCS number your strategy will be different.

2011-05-30 12:47:09 UTCme

Called around 8:30 AM. Music was playing, no one said anything. Curious, I didn't hang up, music continued for almost 10 minutes before the call cut off.

2011-05-16 20:40:52 UTCHannah

Been getting calls from the above number, there is never anyone on line. Decided to google it. Some say it's Macy's Credit Authority, other claim it's scam on all websites and here everycall.us. Anyway, I think everyone annoyed by these calls should file a report with complaints.donotcall.gov. The more the better.

2011-05-11 19:39:14 UTCDash

Caller spoke very poor English. Asked for my department store charge account number. I don't have a department store charge!!

2011-04-29 00:56:13 UTCBeau

Same crap as below. Usually nobody there. They just keep calling and there is static, or a recording says..." Wait one moment and a representative will be on the line." then line goes dead... This is a nuisance...not sure my next step.

2011-04-19 12:26:46 UTCdisgusted

This number calls on average, 5 times a day and/or night. No one leaves a message. When I pick up, there is a long extended waiting period. I have heard noises in the background of kids playing, people talking but no one speaks to me. They have actually hung up. If the - do not call list - does not work, I will go to the attorney general's office.

2011-04-17 21:25:02 UTCKay

I have received phone call from this number in these days regarding Sprint bill (about $40.00). We don't use this long distance company and our primary phone company does not have any subcontract service. MCCS and also Mason(513)573-8031, (434)533-9028 and also Receivablesperf (240)210-7111 constantly called us for same subject.

2011-03-28 19:11:34 UTCMicky

Getting calls all day long. No one speaks. I read below it is perhaps Macys. I have another number that has been calling me that has been associated with Macy's. I pay every bill monthly. My Macy's bill never came and did not get paid. I got a call, rude person,
said the 2nd bill is coming and to pay it immediately. My husband got the bill and paid it. BUT
I am so sick of this kind of troubling harassment. It is very threatening for me to get these calls. My name is unlisted.
I am reporting this to the government in the do not call area.AND
I AM DISCONTINUING MY MACY'S CREDIT CARD. I HAVE OTHER CREDIT CARDS THAT WORK AND I DON'T GIVE A S.... ABOUT THEIR SALES. THIS IS HARASSMENT.

I am tired of this number being called to me. I do not owe anyone and if I did the caller would have respect in talking to me. There is no one on the phone line and it is very annoying. They need to stop, right now. I do not feel well and I do not need this aggravation.

Sincerely.

2011-02-20 17:42:56 UTCDick

It is not Macy's.

2011-02-20 15:51:02 UTCMary

Not sure who it is calling, called at 10 am on a sunday. Many say it is MAcy's calling about money owed. I do have an account, payment is not due till 2/28 and it will get a payment then. Why do they call and not leave a message? If they keep calling I will turn off the ringer. They will get paid when I get paid.

2011-02-19 21:43:02 UTCUpset

I have repeatedly asked MCSS to stop calling, and instead their call frequency has increased. This harrassment needs to be reported and stopped.

PetMommy had in the same period dumped nearly the same essay on several collector threads, and also five times within a single month on one thread. (8664609016) Much of the material is accurate, but parts are misleading with critical misspellings, and its spam-like appearances call into question its agenda.

It's not named specifically in this thread, but PetMommy has in most other versions of her essay mentioned Law of Novation, which is the underlying principle being recklessly promoted. I have already spoken of this on 13 October in this thread.

If you want to attack legal standing, that means, beyond an obvious problem with "real party in interest", questioning ownership of the debt. This is an approach now beginning to gain ground in mortgage debt cases, but only rarely applied to disputes of open accounts like credit cards. A great deal of card debt is securitized just as mortgage debt is, making ownership murky at best and a potential open wound in a creditor's legal arguments against debtors. Naturally the lenders deny the gaping holes in their securitization processes and are very resistant when questioned. (In every lie is a grain of truth?)

2011-02-04 23:27:34 UTCSJIS

Annoyance Call.

2011-02-04 22:33:17 UTCoh well

Referring to the postings by Petmommy on 3/9/2010, could Petmommy or someone clarify if I understand correctly that if a third party (law firm or collection agency) purchases your credit card debt that the third party does not have the legal right to collect the debt? I realize that they may threaten to sue you but do they have any legal standing to do so?

2011-02-04 16:35:04 UTCJo

It really is a Macy's collection number. They had my address wrong so I didn't receive Macy's card or bill. I finally answered this phone number this morning to tell them to stop calling and they explained who they were. Why they couldn't leave a message for me to call Macy's is beyond me.

2011-01-25 22:41:15 UTCJuanita

after answering the call I made the mistake of saying yes who is this, but before I could finish the

Pam, can you point to any part of this program which relates to consumer debt collection?

I, too have been receiving calls from this exchange. Last night I answered the phone and heard nothing but canned music. I received 7 calls in 2 days, I was away they were on my caller ID no message was left. I called to see who they were, they asked if I had a Macy's account or Bloomingdales account but would not tell me if there was a propblem with my account unless I either gave my acount # or ss#. I asked repeatedly to speak with a supervisor and the man on the line kept repeating if I didnt give the information I couldnt be helped. I did neither and called the Macy's customer service # on the back of my card. No problem with my account and no pending charges. They see no reason anyone from Macy's would call me.

I keep getting calls from this number asking for a David Smith. I am not David Smith, nor do I know a David Smith. I've asked these people to correct their records numerous times, am told "I'm sorry" and THEY STILL KEEP CALLING. This is ridiculous.

I totally forgot to pay my Macy's payment on the due date and paid in full one day after, which was about 5-6 days ago. I do not have any balance left on my Macy's account and I am getting several phone calls from this number. The last phone call was made around 10:30pm in the evening. Very annoying.

2010-10-24 18:48:12 UTCResident47

Ms. Correa: We must try not to get too far from the scope of this forum, so I'll keep it short(er). Macy's, or rather its parent Federated Department Stores, has a confusing deal with Citi Group regarding ownership of the consumer credit accounts. MCCS manages them all but does not own some of them. Citi and Macy's don't share account info, according to one Macy's call center rep. It is very hard to pin down if all or only some Macy's accounts are collected as "first party" prior to charge-off. Thus far I'm not willing to bet FDCPA will apply, which would have provided some easy leverage with the phone calls.

MCCS and the retail floor can't seem to agree on an acceptable return period, which complicates things. If an item return is acceptable to MCCS as debt cancellation, I would try to get a signed statement to that effect, since return has been your best-case goal. I might also try to find the same clerk who upsold you that account and take a statement from her. It sounds like you entered a debt agreement on her faulty information with regards to your credit risk, meaning ability to repay. That could be useful in your defense. (This should also teach you that sales clerks are _not_ financial experts, and the long term cost of these over-counter credit deals usually exceed the immediate discount.)

Forget that cranky VP, like I said. Keep plugging until you find an authority figure who will see that you're not pulling a "dine 'n' dash". If you can get MCCS to rattle a manager's cage on the retail side, so much the better. If no one takes your calls, submit your document copies and demands in Certified mail. Take names and notes at each step. I won't tell you any of this will work quickly if ever, but at the least you'll have proof of your good faith efforts at peaceful resolution should the case turn uglier.

In a somewhat related note, twelve years ago Federated paid out around $14.5 million in settlement for rotten debt collection practices. That case was on different grounds, but it does not appear FDS has learned much from the punishment.

2010-10-23 23:30:26 UTCArbiter

Collection Agency, Very aggressive

2010-10-22 00:03:23 UTCCorrea-thanks

thank you so much resident47. I do not know where my mind was at that time but the thing is that I came home with a very expensive gift (my daughter is graduating from university) My balance at that time was 0. the sales person said that i could get a good discount if i open a club account. (the sales person did everything else) what i remember very clearly is that she told me the payments would be no more than $50. when i got the statement it was more than i could afford in a year, i went back to the store to returned the purchase but was told that i only had 30 days,(the time it took to get a statement), I made 2 payments. but now not even my mother can help me out anymore. so my account is past due with a huge balance. I have called CCS at the 1800# and was told i could return the purchase, but when i called Macy's the answer was no. I do not know if the account is already in collections, i do not answer the phone unless i know who it is. today i called CSS again and asked if they can lower the payments to what i can afford and extend the payment period but this they told me they cannot do. I do not wish to go through the VP again because she was very rude and embarrassed me in front of other customers. besides even if they lower the payments i know i wont be able to afford them. It was a very irresponsible act to do, I regret it so much, I am going through a hard time dealing with this- I feel like at any moment they are going to come and get me. I do not go out of the house much and this situation is making it more difficult. I have heard of the term "buyers remorse" before, when I was working but i have never been in a similar situation. This is the very first time I find myself in a problem with a department store. I am going to continue calling CS but in the meantime they are already adding late fees- interest will accrued 7/11 but from the date of purchase. the reason why i though i could afford this is because after i pay all other bills i end up with a little bit for recreational activities. how can i make them take back the purchase item. i have been calling around and one person said i had 10 days, the other 30 days, yet another said 180 days. I called head quarters in Ohio but was not able to get in touch with anyone. Thank you for letting me share this with you.

2010-10-21 00:47:16 UTCResident47

The DNC program is working fairly well, Ms. Dewhurst, just not the way everyone would like. The DNC registry is for telemarketers, meaning sales. Charities, debt collectors, political speech, and surveyors are all exempt as they are not included in the FTC definition of "telemarketing". This was made known to you when you registered your numbers.

You may have a harassment case with so many daily calls, but if Macy's bulldogs are considered a first party collector the FDCPA sadly won't help. No one here has answered that question. Verbal cease-comms never work on collectors in any case. Maybe your state laws have some defense?

2010-10-21 00:27:26 UTCBrenda Dewhurst

I am on the do not call list and I have told these people but they still call at least 5-8 times a night..What can be done? I thought "DO NOT CALL LIST " WORKED,QUESS NOT.pLEASE HELP..

2010-10-20 09:03:08 UTCResident47

Ms. Correa: There are holes in your story which make it hard to address. How long has the account been unpaid and/or in dispute? Has the account been charged off? What's the price of this item you can't return? How much of that balance is interest and fees? If you can't discuss details in the open (one more reason never to use your real name online) that's fine, but it's time to bury emotion and line up the facts of a business problem, which is the true nature of debt. Whether your case can be characterized as "buyer's remorse" or a rolling disaster of unfair treatment, or somewhere down the middle, makes a difference toward your approach. You must ask yourself if you are dependent on Macy's mercy or you are able to dispute the debt.

Several years ago I got snared by Sears Credit after a careless store manager goofed in processing an item return. My account was never credited, and I was beating back lawbreaking collectors for over two years. This was my collection industry boot camp. Had I known my rights, I'd have sued the pants off the lot of them. Anyway, the worst dysfunction was within Sears itself. I once had this foolish idea that Sears the store and Sears the creditor might actually talk to each other, but they might as well be on different planets.

Like you, I got either huffy managers or impotent clerks in the store before and after Sears Credit refused to acknowledge my painfully detailed letters and photocopied evidence, proving to any sane person the account balance was wrong. But neither side wanted to take responsibility and one would bounce me to the other. When you get past a certain stage of (alleged) delinquency on any bill, the point of purchase either won't or can't talk to you, which was in my case maddening. Probably that's the same static you got from Miss VP manager.

If it was me in your place I would get a written statement from that credit rep approving item return, assuming it's not just a suggestion but an acceptable remedy. Go over the VP's head if you have to, or keep pelting until you get someone nicer with the other half of a brain. Take names and document everything. You want to show later how hard you tried to stay out of third party collections should it go there.

If the matter does worsen, Social Security and lots of other Federal benefits are exempt from garnishment. If your husband's name can't be connected to the account I wouldn't worry about his assets. But none of that matters until a collector wins a judgment in court, and that can't happen if you succeed in deflecting or defeating each one that comes calling. Once it goes third party, by law it's the collector's problem to prove valid debt. Many collectors are so sloppy as to make the accused debtor's job a little too easy, something you can do from your desk with a few dollars for the Certified mail. Sooner or later a more dogged collector commits a legal error you can use for defense, and if your debt was provably illegitimate going in, your case is that much stronger. That is as short as I can make the many FDCPA highlights, so I suggest you read on yourself at (... wait for it, gonna say it again ...) FTC-dot-gov.

2010-10-20 04:12:31 UTCMiranda -again

I called credit services for Macy's and the representative (after explaining my situation) stated that I could return the merchandise since it is still in the original package and tag price attached-even with the little sticker that says it is not returnable if removed- He said to speak to the VP store manager, which I did, however, this woman told me it was not her problem and she couldn't do anything. I do not know what to do next, how can it be possible that instead of working with the customer the store rather send you to collections, basically punishing you for making bad decisions. I know I can not paid this balance. This will certainly ruin my credit, is that what this companies prefer to do to customers instead of given a chance by either taking the merchandise back, lowering the payments and given more time to pay than send people to court? Why is one department saying that I can do something and the other one not? Who should I speak to next? Please if you have any comments on this I would like to know. I am also worry that they come after my husband even though he is not a co-sign, and is the sole owner of the house and car. plus we are separated. I do not wish to go to court. Thank you!

2010-10-15 20:08:06 UTCMichael - again

Just answered the call - spoke with a person and requested that my number be removed from their database. Any additional calls would be recorded and reported to appropriate authories, Macy's and Bloomingdales VP of Customer Service and/or Credit Service, and a formal complaint filed with relevant Chambers of Commerce and Better Business Bureaus. The rep indicated it might take several days to update the database. I told them my commitment remains to contact all those mentioned above. Stay tuned. I'd suggest that others do the same.

2010-10-14 15:54:53 UTCMichael

Why are they calling my cell phone???!?!?!

2010-10-13 20:24:49 UTCResident47

No one could blame Pat's hubby, or many others in this thread, for dumping what sounds like poor accounts receivable management. Way to go with that loyalty promotion, Macy's.

PetMommy has made the same lengthy comment on WCU many times, most of which I won't rebut. In debtor defense I would not lean on the idea of Novation as she does, and never have. Quite often the tiny boilerplate in your credit agreements say that the assigns of the creditor assume the right to collect pretty much as if they are the funding source. This does not remove your right to challenge or sue an assigned collector, but you do have to be smart about it, starting with a graduated cease-comm which restricts the conversation to paper. This way you don't corner them into having only a court summons as their response.

We should also be very careful to identify the nature of the collector. If all these Macy's calls can be considered "in-house", the FDCPA won't apply. If it's some hired gun using the Macy's name, have at 'em, and toss in a misrepresentation charge. In such case you don't have to sit still for misdirected or abusive calls. Learn your rights at FTC-dot-gov.

I would like to thank Petmommy for her wisdom and care to share it. I also fell behind payments in my Macy's Account after losing my job due to illness, now my only income is a limited SSD amount. I am so worry that they are going to send me to court plus charge me interest and late fees. Talking to customer services or the store manager only proved how unprofessional, rude and disrespectful they are. I never been late or carry over a balance as not to incur any other fees, but now I am worry sick that Macy's is going to take me to court for the unpaid balance of $2,000 I certainly will not be able to handle this on top of my health problems. The phone calls leave me so distressed. I begged them to take back the merchandise or credit me for the difference- to this day tags and original package are intact but they hide behind this deceiving store policy and practically chase you out of the store. I always though Macy's was a honorable store but now I am convinced that it is worse than the "whole on the wall" kind of store. I don't even know where to begin.

Macy's Credit Card Services. These people are relentless pains in the A$$. My husband opened an account in August, one month later the calls started, three times a day. He hadn't even received a bill and they were calling about payment. Remember, it was a NEW account, and the total balance was only $200. He spoke to someone, told them he hadn't received a bill, they said ok, BUT THE CALLS CONTINUED. He was able to check his account online and saw that they had added a late payment charge. He spoke to someone AGAIN, explaining he had still not received a bill. They asked him if he could make a payment over the phone. He said yes, but they needed to waive the late fee. They agreed, but would only accept a debit card on the phone, for which they would charge $15. He said forget it, just send the bill. He finally received the bill a couple of days later and sent in the payment. STILL THE CALLS CONTINUED, THREE TIMES A DAY! He paid the account in full, and as soon as the payment clears he is canceling the account. WE WILL NO LONGER DO ANY BUSINESS WITH MACY'S.

They only played very badly recorded music, I did not reconize the song. Wierd!

This is a call from Macy's Credit Card Service to try to get you to pay over the phone for a 14.99 phone fee. If you say no, they offer to drop the price to 9.99, then down to 4.99.
I offered to pay them 99 cents and the guy freaked out. I just went to the store and paid in person- JC

MCCS calls my number six and seven times a day. I am sure its sombody trying to collect money. I don't give this person the time of day. When I notice the number on my caller ID I don't even answer the telephone. I pay my telephone bill and its my right not to talk to people that I don't desire to talk to. It seems that these kind of people would find a real job instead of thinking people are going to give them money they don't owe the. My hysband passed away a few months ago and I think he may have owed on some charge cards. I don't owe these people anything and discussion is not an option.

Calls multiple times a day, hangs up, it is someone calling for macys and I don't owe them any more for 3 more weeks. I'm paying them off and cancelling the card!

How can they be stopped?

Will call several times without leaving a message. Called the number back and spoke with a representative who attempted to confirm the name of an individual living in this household. Did not provide any information; however stated no individual in this household held a Macy's/Bloomingdale account.

What is this nonsense?
What the hell is this world coming to when you have no choice but to be harassed daily with multiple annoying phone calls from India?

2010-09-05 17:10:16 UTCjack

these jerk offs call at least 6 times daily - leave no message - once I spoke or tried to with one of them, couldn't understand anything they had to say, except that they wanted bank information for making a payment over the phone - sure, not in this lifetime, if you want to have some fun with them, request to speak or their supervisor and only if they can speak fluent englist, they will hang up for sure - if macys are contracting these people/firm they do not represent the Co. well

2010-08-29 00:54:04 UTCOzs

This is just Macy's Credit Card Services trying to get a hold of people to make their payments. I got 10 calls a day with no one answering the line. The reason you have that long delay is because they transfer the call to somewhere in India. This is also the reason why you can't understand the person on the other line if you wait on the line long enough for the call to connect.

2010-08-05 18:52:30 UTCjopefer

They started calling a few days ago and call several times a day between 8:30AM and 9PM. I never pick up and they never leave a message. It's very annoying but I have real patience and sooner or later they will stop.

Has been calling incessantly for days. At first, no one responded when I answered. Calls continued. Finally someone responded when I answered, but his foreign accent was so thick I could not figure out what the guy was saying. Zero. So I think this might well be a scam being operated from somewhere outside of the U.S. Wish I could ID the accent because it was so thick--to the point that I thought the guy was speaking in another language! BEWARE!

We get several calls a day from MCCS at that #. We have never answered. I don't answer #'s/names I am not familiar with. If they were legit, they would leave a message, which they don't. 727 area code is in the St. Petersburg, FL area.

Have gotten 3 calls from this number today, never left a message. Called them back and it was for Macys/Bloomingdales Collections. Never had a line of credit with either of those stores before, probably trying to reach the person who had this number before me.

2010-06-23 18:15:08 UTCL.B.

THis number calls our house several times a day, CID says MCCS - GOODSEARCH showed several listings for it as Marine Corps Community Services. I attempted to call back the number and a recording answers with no information about who it is and puts you on indefinite hold.

When we've actually tried to answer it,nobody is there.

Thank you BSCalls for your advice about calling the telephone number on the back of the credit card. I discovered that someone did steal my Macy Visa credit card #. By calling Macy's customer service, I was certain that I was not talking to some spam artist. I received the help I needed to credit my account of the fraudelent charges and hopefully reverse the negative credit reporting.

This call comes in several times a day. I accidentally picked it up and it disconnected the second I said hello-so aggravating

2010-06-19 18:33:59 UTClee ann

this # called my house and left a message with my son. I called and it was Macy's telling me I had a late payment. Turned out I never hit the confirmation button when I paid my bill. They waived the late fee since it was my first one. It's legit.

2010-06-15 01:14:58 UTCKate

They called my mother 3 times today and asked for her by name. The man informed her that she was late on her Macy's bill and she needed to make a payment. The minimum they would accept would be $46.00. She asked them where they were located and they told her India. I'm glad she didn't fall for this scam.

I called the number back and it goes straight into voicemail. They claim to be The Credit Center.

2010-06-14 22:00:47 UTCTexas

I got a call twice from them, but they hung up on me. If this is Macy's, they've obviously got the wrong number because I've never had any accounts with them or any other department store in existence. I've never had a credit card either. I've haven't been inside a Macy's store since 1974 either, LOL

2010-06-14 18:26:53 UTCJohn

2010-06-14 15:27:14 UTCKaren

I have been getting calls for over a month regarding a Macy's credit card. The balance IS and HAS BEEN zero since March. The calls are very annoying since the person on the other end repeatedly cannot provide me with any information, yet repeatedly asks me for my credit card information! I've shopped at Macy's way, way, way before it was Macy's....since it was Kaufmann's, then Lazarus....At this point, after over 35 years, I guess I have to close out the account to stop the annoying calls.

2010-06-11 19:05:44 UTCMike

He claims to be a rep from Macys. He also asked me to promise that I will make the payment. The fun part is, I don't owe Macy's a dime. Looks like a scam.

Received 5 of these phone calls between 630a and 2pm Mountain time... caller, obviously Indian, asked for someone other than myself. I stated no one by that name was at this number and they said thank you and hung up. Previously, I had received one phone call from a Chicago area code asking for the same person... and the month leading til now I had been receiving calls, with no messages from an 800 number associated with Bloomingdale's (probably near 200 message-less calls).

People, people! If these people were legit they would HAVE your account number and not have to ask for it! Same old scammers. If you have Caller ID, DO NOT EVER answer the calls. One idea I had which seems to work is to turn off your answering machine for a few days. When I'm not home, it doesn't matter how long it rings and even when I am, I don't care how many times it rings for a scammer! They give up after about a week or even less.

Macy's needs to know how poorly this reflects on them. I have been receiving 8-10 calls a day for the past two days, some as early as 6:30am on a Sunday for a $32 outstanding balance- which has already been paid!! When I finally took the time to connect to the unintelligible on the other end of the line, she said 'I have notated that, but be prepared for more calls in the next 7-10 days' because I would not confirm my birthdate and last four of my social over the phone. For a $32 outstanding balance????

I get a call about every day from this number, but they never leave a message. I called the number back and asked what company they were with. Some foreign Indian-sounding person answered and mumbled something about "Macy's Credit." I told them I had been getting this number showing up on my cell phone. They then asked for my account number, which I was smart enough not to give them. I told them that they had called ME, and therefore they would already have my "account number." Then the girl told me to "Call back later," which I did not. However, I did get another call from them today, May 3, but I didn't call them back. They left no message. Does anyone know who this is?

Debt Collectors – Collection agency’s do NOT fall under Do NOT Call registry, as they are not telemarketers. However, they do constantly violate other Federal Laws, because us American's don't know the laws to protect us. They are counting on that.

- Federal Law says you don't have an obligation to Collection Agencies or Debt Collectors; you can send them a written letter and they cannot contact you after that. This includes Attorney's in state's other than your state of residence. The only Attorney's that can sue you, have to be licensed in your resident state.

A word of caution: Some Law Firms do have Firms in other states, and Lawyers licensed in other states, so you have to do a little research before sending a Cease & Desist (Do Not Call & Go Away letter) to make sure they aren't in your resident state or you're likely to get sued by these #%#&*@!#%&@$^*.

Once a debt collector makes contact with you, they also have to contact you within 5 days after the first phone call, letter etc., and give you validation/proof or judgment of the debt. You are not required to ask for it. They never do this!!!!

This law is known as the Fair Debt Collector Practices Act. You can get it at FTC.gov; as well as other Consumer Protection Laws.

Most collection agencies, purchase your delinquent debt for pennies on the dollar. Guess what? It is no longer your debt!!! You don't have any agreement/contract with the debt collector or collection agency. Your only agreement/contract was with the original creditor.

Do NOT agree to any payment arrangements, or you'll be creating an agreement/contract, where upon initial contact by the Debt Collector, one didn't exist. The collection agencies are counting on you not knowing this little bit of information.

The best advice I can give you is, do NOT talk to these idiots - they will leave you in a frustrated heap on the floor. They lie, and will tell you whatever they need, in order to get you to commit to paying them. The lies are illegal, but they honestly don't care, they're probably on commission for how much they collect from you and others like you.

If you do answer the phone, do NOT give out your employer, social security #, DL #, Credit Card and/or Bank information, or any personal information. Tell them to send you a written statement & you'll respond. Then hang up. When you get that statement, google, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and you'll probably find a letter you can send them. Sign and mail that letter Certified Mail, so you have a signature and confirmation of delivery!!!

For the Calls to Stop, The request HAS to be in WRITING and sent Certified Mail!!! The cost for Cert. mail is approx. $5.50, but you'll get a signature and date returned on the green card! Keep track and Log all calls, and you can sue them for $1,000.00 each violation per the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Again I am not an Attorney, but I have fought two Debt Collector Lawsuits on my own. The calls are coming from Genpact Services LLC. After you send them the following letter - Certified Mail, you will get calls again and eventually a demand/letter from a company called NARS at 866-315-4860. Google that number and I'll enclose information there so you can send the same letter as follows. Be sure to put in your own personal information where asked for (name address, etc. and Date) and the phone no. you are being called on at the X's in the body of the letter.

To Whom This May Concern:

I am in receipt of your demand for payment. However, this Notice is to confirm that I do not wish to be contacted again by you, and that you are hereby put on Notice to Cease Communication pursuant to 15 USC Section 1692c(c). Failure to comply with said Notice, shall result in a complaint filed and submitted to the Federal Trade Commission, and possible legal remedies in appropriate United States Courts.

Your representatives have also been trying to contact me, however, I only do business of this nature via mail. Therefore, I am requesting again, that you cease and desist from calling me or contacting us in any way. Please remove the phone numbers XXX XXX-XXXX. The calls constitute harassment at this point, which is causing a major disruption, in both my business and personal life as well as, being an invasion of my privacy, which I will not tolerate.

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991, which branched from United States Code Title 47 sect 227, implemented a do-not-call list from solicitors, which mandates a solicitor to abate phone calls to customers who have requested in writing, to cease all phone communication. If you continue to contact me, I will file a complaint with the Attorney General, FTC, BBB and FCC, as well as refer to our Legal Dept. for further remedies per our Federal/State rights.

Complaints have already been filed with our Attorney General and FTC for Federal and State Law violations, including but not limited to, multiple calls per day and calls received on weekends and holidays, as well as other violations documented.

In addition, PLEASE TAKE NOTICE THAT, I am not waiving my right, to dispute the alleged debt asserted herein, but at this time I am under no obligation to respond as a result of (GE Money Bank’s) default.

Sincerely,

No I am not an attorney, just a well knowledged, educated consumer. I have spent the past 2 years studying various Federal Consumer Protection Laws.

Everything I have typed, I have learned basically on my own through reading, studying, printing out and binding the laws and underlining/highlighting them. Not to mention the knowledge I have gained on my own fighting two lawsuits without an Attorney.

I was sued by a Collection Agency, and waiting for a Court date. The Collection Agency Attorney, sent us a letter willing to dismiss with prejudice our lawsuit, if I dismiss our Cross/Counter Claim for Fair Debt Collector Practices Act violations. Oh, I forgot to mention, we do not have an Attorney representing us; and I have not had any legal experience, in the past whatsoever.

And for those of you who say pay up and quit being a deadbeat; it appears that you have never had your life turned upside down, because a good job, not high paying by any means, but a supposed secure job, got your hours cut by 3/4.

And then a couple years later, as you are just recovering, you lose that job. And when you are in your 50's, a new job is not so easy to come by. And when that happens, then what? Not because they chose to, or decided they were going to find loopholes to get out of paying obligations etc.

What if the money isn't there to pay these debts to begin with? I hope someday, something throws your secure little world off its axis, and you find yourself in the very situation as some of us here. Maybe then you'd learn it isn't such a cut/dry situation.

People, please read the Fair Debt Collector Practices Act; if a Debt Collector violates any one harrassment or other law in there; Federal Laws says you can sue them for $1,000.00 per violation. Do it, and then THEY can pay off YOUR obligations!!!

Again I am not an Attorney - but have learned these by my own experiences. There are Attorneys you could talk to, and I would, if any violations of the laws have occured in your circumstances. I am posting this strictly to help others maybe have a piece of mind, if they are up all night worrying about financial problems, and sick to their stomach in worry as I have been, and still are in some ways. I am again just a well informed, knowledgable consumer, who has spent hours studying the laws, because I had no where else to turn for help. If anything I have written, causes you questions, please seek the advice of an Attorney.

Certain situations such as Mortgages and Car Payment loans usually do not apply here; so you may need to seek the advice of a Lawyer for your individual situation.

Have gotten numerous calls from this number. They do not identify themselves or their company until I (or my husband) repeatedly ask them. Actually got to talk to someone on three different occaisons (other times there was no answer or they hung up). On the three seperate occcaisons that I go t a live person (the last one was hardly understandable but identified himself as Bob Jones - yeah right), two of them had two different balances for my account and one ASKED me if I had an account. They immediately ask for your checking account number. I called the number on the back of my Macy's card and they pushed me into some call center where the guy misread my information numerous times. Then after I told them that I had already sent the payment (2 days late, mind you, not really a cause for 4-6 calls a day) he asked if I wanted to make it current on their account screen with another payment. SInce I had paid it in full I said no. Then I was told that they would update the information but I may still get calls unless I want to pay it now. Do not give these people your information- it seems like they are not sure of what they are doing- better off going to store to pay bill or pay it online through secure site. Unbelievable. Very dissapointed in Macy's for not having better customer service contacts.

False Claims – Credit Dunning for not our account
MCCS - Macy's Credit and Customer Service
Macy's & Bloomingdales [credit accounts factored to Citicard] - They fail to take appropriate actions in verifying credit card application data so that you can have them call you claiming that you owe them - Macy's, Bloomingdale's - money on a card which may be in $1000s but it is not your card - just your phone number for an account that was opened in a totally different state from your number/home - They are terrible - absolute failure to verify data! These folks have been calling my unlisted number for several days now. I decided not to answer my phone since I mainly use it for the internet. I should program my computer to call them back and not answer!!!!

2010-01-20 02:09:56 UTCDanielle

Have called 7 or more times a day for the past 4 days (as early as 8:40am, as late as 8:30pm) never a voicemail, when answered there is no one there. I do have a Macy's account, made a payment ONE DAY after it was due. Will be closing the Macy's account.

They call at least 2 times a day looking for a Letica. I keep telling them they have the wrong number. They start proceeding to ask me how long have I had this number etc.. I tell them none of their business. The next call, I was told they did not believe me and will keep calling until they talk to Letica. I let the answer machine pick up the call because they don't leave messages. These people need to get a life!!!

DO NOT CALL MY CELL PHONE. THANK YOU

2010-01-10 21:53:18 UTCLeland

It's NOT MACY's... they aren't even sure who they are. I got the same "MCCS" id with no-one on the line. This is a warehouse of Indian folks working for $0.47 a day... the computer system calls 33 phone numbers a second, trying to find a connection. Once they get one it takes a few seconds for them to connect to a "representitive". They say "Macy's" because many people have that card, but if you ask them for your "current balance" and they'll say they don't have access to that part of the file (I don't have a Macy's card, but said that to test them). The

This is a HUGE SCAM folks. Don't jam Macy's for this. The US laws don't apply to these scammers. It's a computer just calling random 10 digit numbers trying to get someone (YOU) to pick up the phone and give some credit card info so they can charge your account. We can block a given number, but they can set up a new one in seconds, and they get them legally... not much else we can do... IT SUCKS. I've learned to just hit "END" on the phone after answering... that usually turns it off for that day!

This person has been calling me for 3 days now incessantly. I finally answered the phone yesterday after the evening before, I had received a "mistake" voicemail from this person that had a TV and unidentifiable conversations taking place in the background. This is the only voicemail that was ever received. I just answered the phone with "hello" instead of my name, since I was already suspicious. The indian woman demanded she speak with me (kept saying my name), and I just kept asking "what is this regarding?," "what is this in reference to?," etc. She kept saying "personal business matter." I finally told her I was this person and what did she want. She kept saying she was calling "on behalf of Macy's" and all of the other crap that is in line with all of the comments below. I have enough experience in the business world, when you are calling "on behalf of" someone or something, you are not that person. So I kept demanding where she was calling from and who she was. She said her name is Megan Carter (I'm sorry, this is way too much of an American name for this woman - LIES) and her company was FCL Technologies. I couldn't understand this woman at all and was demanding her to spell her name and organization about 12 times. She said I had missed a Macy's payment and could pay the minimum payment over the phone now. ABSOLUTELY NOT. HEED THIS WARNING. I told her I would call Macy's myself or go into the store. She asked to verify my address and I said no I would not do this. I already felt vulnerable verifying my identity/name to her over the phone. I asked for a phone number to call back, and she gave me the number 1-800-545-1256. I will not call this number, but just plugged it into google just like i did this one and came up with the same comments from others. After talking to this woman for about 20 minutes I was severely agitated and told her to NOT call this number any more, and I would be in touch with Macy's myself. I kept asking her to verify that she would not call this number again, and she hung up on me. Regardless of if this call is a legitimate call associated with Macy's or not, they did not call during business hours, do not leave a message, are harassing when you finally talk to them, are unprofessional and you are unable to understand them, and ask for personal information. BEWARE of this. You can also note I will be in touch with Macy's myself.

2010-01-10 00:15:15 UTCJackie

This is some type of collection company for Macy's- I complained to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint. When you are a couple days past the due date on your invoice to Macys, this company starts calling up to 7 times a day. They do not leave a message so you just assume it's someone trying to sell you something. If they would leave a message than you would know what the heck they are calling about and answer the phone-I will never shop at Macys or do business with them again because of this harrasement. If you are as mad as I am, file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. It's hard to believe that a reputable company has stooped to this level, and with a company from India no less.

If they're going to keep (3 times today) calling... at least leave a message..! So maybe I can actually call back.

SCAM ARTISTS!!! These people are SCAMSTERS phishing for personal info. Claim to be collection department from Macys or Bloomingdales, but we never had any dealings with those companies. Have been calling up to 10 times daily for two months now & won't stop despite being reported repeatedly. I've called them repeatedly and they promise to remove the phone number but never do! THEY ARE PHISHING FOR PERSONAL INFO!

They have been calling here all day today since this morning. So far more than 5 times today. We have never had a Macy's card or Bloomingdales. In fact we currently have no active credit cards.

These folks have been calling my mother's cell phone incessantly and she doesn't even have an account with Macy's. Spoke with a guy named Alan who said it was a Macy's Bloomingdales credit line. Had to sit on hold for a couple of minutes, but he said they'd erase the number from their files. Let's hope that actually happens.

2009-12-23 15:37:26 UTCJoe

I returned call. It is a call center in India for Macy's Credit.

2009-12-21 15:03:32 UTCMr. Do Not CAll

Call is from Macy's collections.
I answered. Then automated message telling me to hold to wait for a customer service rep. They asked for me by name. It was regarding my Macy's Credit Card account. She, with a hard to understand, outsourced, Indian Accent, asked me when I will be making a minimum payment of $15 as the bill is past due. I told them my wife payed $100 several days ago. A late fee of $29 was charged to my account as they did not yet receive the payment. I read them my confirmation number and noted it was an ACH DIRECT TRANSFER from my bank to Macy's DAYS AGO BEFORE THE DUE DATE. I was told it takes 5 - 7 days for an online payment to reach Macy's.
I also told her i spoke to Macy's a few days ago regarding why my credit line went from $2500 to $300? The $2500 credit line account, another Macy's account was closed at my request. I, never closed the account, nor could they tell me who did. My wife is not listed on the account but has a Macy's card.

These people have NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING! My credit score was dinged last year because they said I was 60 days late on a zero balance account! I got that pulled from my credit report when I filed a dispute.

She said she will make a note and request the LATE payment fee charged on an account that was paid early should be waived. I asked her to please not we will be canceling our account as it has cost me time, money and my credit rating.

I just called 727-556-7300 again and very nice young girl (with an India accent) answered. She stated that the company is ACL Technologies; an IT Computer Support company and they are making collections calls for Macy’s and Bloomingdales. She tried to get my name and personal information but all I gave her was my phone # and asked her for the name attached to my phone #. After approximately 2-mins she stated that she could not find an account with my phone # under either Macy’s or Bloomingdales and promised to remove my phone number in a few hours – lets see of that really happens.

2009-12-19 19:40:38 UTCPlano TX

This number appears sporadically on my caller id 2 to 3 times a week with letters “MCCS”. Today I called the number back and a man with a very thick accent said that it was Macy’s Department Store. I just hung up after that as I have never had an account of any kind with Macy’s. When I crossed referenced MCCS on Bing, Google and Yahoo they all came back with “Marine Corps Community Services”

Have gotten 4 calls in the past few days from this number; a man (mumbled, but not really an accent) ssked for me by mispronounced name, and when I asked why, he said "private business." And I hung up. So definitely not legit call about Macy's account.

2009-12-04 03:52:53 UTCLA

The number called me 5 times today, 3 times yesterday and 2 times yesterday....I actually called the number back and some man who I could barely understand because of his accent AND because of his mumbling problem answered and asked for my macy's account number. SHADY!

2009-12-02 22:59:34 UTCC. in Pa.

They call nearly every hour. It just states MCCS.. Often when I try to pick up, there is no answer or person there.
I have a Macy's account and a Capital One but I have paid them and there is no outstanding billing.
"MCCS" apparently didn't get the message. I was two weeks late with Macy's bill - they sent me statement stating that my outstanding balance was just added to the statement so it wasn't like I didnt' pay them.

I don't see why this gives MCCS the right to harass me -- really, I've taken to leaving my phone off the hook!

2009-11-27 21:33:23 UTCK

My husband answered the phone today and somebody actually spoke. Unfortunately, they discussed MY Macy's credit card information with him. His name is NOT on the account. I thought it was against the law to discuss credit information with somebody besides the person. I have made my payment and she told him my entire balance was due on Dec. 22. Very odd.

2009-11-27 02:20:35 UTCK

Caller had a heavy East Indian or Pakistani accent, said she was with Macy's and my account was late, she had correct account and wanted me to make a payment over the phone. I said that I would take care of it over the internet and she objected saying that would take 5 or 6 days. I said that I would take care of it, knowing that my bill was not late. I assume that this was a fraudulent attempt to get banking info.

2009-11-26 01:22:39 UTCK

Called my cell phone twice today, no messages. Second call was while I was at a Funeral, awesome! My Macy's card was 1 day late, and I paid it yesterday. I called them back and informed him of that, his english was TERRIBLE and I finally said "I can't understand you, you need to speak more clearly" and then he obnoxiously said the next several words in slow motion. Considering I have a $3000 credit line, am only using $150 of it, and was 1 day late I think this is a bit absurd. Will be writing a nasty-gram to Macy's, if I don't get satisfaction from that, I'll be closing the account.

I have a Macy's account, but my payments are early and up-to-date. I just got a call from these people with this phone number. I asked them what it was in regards to and, of course, they wouldn't tell me.

Come to think of it, I've had a Macy's account for over 15 years, and there is no way they have my current cell phone number...

2009-11-13 11:27:48 UTCjg

They call me everyday at least four times a day-yesterday they called 7 times-they never leave a message. I called the number this morning and a recording said it was the credit department and please call back during business hours. It was not a foreign person, like many have reported. I am about 99% sure this is a scam. Sadly I wonder how many people are sucked into giving them their credit card number....

I have been receiving calls from this number. I don't have or ever had and at this point never will have a Macy's card. I don't even live with anyone who has one. Macy's is unprofessional. i was used as a reference years ago. And they were on my credit report, with my mother account number and I am not on her card at all. Luckily she still uses the account and could approve it was not mine. Now that I know this is there number I am extremely unhappy with them.

2009-10-09 22:48:16 UTCLinda

I finally called this number back after receiving more than 20 calls to my cell. I asked what company and they said Macy's/Bloomingdales Credit. Since the lady was obviously not American, I asked what country she was calling from and she said India. I asked to speak to her supervisor - got someone named 'Brad' who sounded American. I asked him why I was receiving call after call from this number and whenever I would answer, they would hang up. His only response was that the calls were automatically generated and they probably couldn't hear me. I said that if Macy's would hire Americans like they should and help out their own economy things like this wouldn't happen. I tried to find a number to call & complain - lol....customer service is also in India. I don't have a Macy's card and don't shop there....and I know now that I WILL never.

I got constant calls from this number for three days. When I finally answered an Indian woman told me my Macy's card was overdue and that I could pay over the phone. I told her I'd mail a check in the morning since I knew it was 4 days late, tops. She told me that if I didn't pay over the phone and was late with the check they would turn me in to a collection agency. I told her that there was no chance of me making any kind of payment to an unsolicited phone call and to wait for the check. She told me that I could pay over the phone "at any time." I asked her how many times that line actually worked on people and she hung up.

I was off yesterday and wasn't happy to be woken by these assholes. I am not late in payments, so I don't know why the harassment. I finally answered and did not give the foreigner a chance to speak. I just said remove my name from their calling list. She asked me if this was Ben, and I said, good bye. Obnoxious.

2009-09-19 18:25:00 UTCTB

I was constantly getting this call. When I would answer no one would respond for several seconds, then a person with Indian dialect would come on and ask for me. Immediately a red flag goes up because they cannot pronounce my name correctly. I didn't wait for them to respond I just told them to take my name off of their list and do not call me again. Now I am disappointed to learn that it is a call center from Macy's. What poor commincation. I may be late with a payment and I always make a monthly payment but this type of communication is a turn off to me for future patronage of Macy's stores. I'm cancelling my card!

2009-09-14 16:38:11 UTCSunilPatel

Indian or Pakistani by accent. Not cooperative. Poor pronunciation on simple Anglo surnames and common first names. The recorded introduction, "please hold, all of our associates are busy, we will be with you shortly..." may be a violation of the new "Do Not Call" restrictions. The only person in this house with a Macy's credit card died years ago. I guess it's time to put a new pin in the voodoo doll to ensure a certain flaccid persistent condition and red lights on their daily commute. I pray they slip & fall on pile of cow pies.

2009-09-14 03:49:51 UTCBecki

It is Macy's collection, they called the day after my payment was due and asked me to give them my checking account number over the phone. I told her it was stupid to even ask such a thing, she didn't get it. Then I said why are you calling of it's only 1 day, she said that is when they start calling would I like to make a payment. I told her no, I already owe the late fee I'll just wait the month. She said they will keep calling, I said fine I'll block the number. BTW I owed 21.05 TOTAL on my card. I had just forgotten about it.

Its the Macys collection service...i was only 2 days late and they called 12 times

2009-09-10 20:49:08 UTCCG

Six calls so far today from this number and no voicemails. Since it's an out of state number I thought maybe it was a creditor--I had been a few days late paying my Macy's card. After I missed the last call I decied to call the number back. I figured if it was Macy's I would just inform them that I had made my payment online yesterday. The phone rang and there was a recording telling me my call may be recorded for quality assurance. Then silence. I waited a few seconds and hung up. I noticed the call went to Florida and became concerned it may be a phone scam where they get you to call them back and then charge some huge fee. So I Googled the number and found this. I am relieved it really is Macy's but also disappointed to see that they have such poor customer service when it comes to late payments. This was my first billing cycle on the card and I had misread the due date as the 15th instead of the 5th and made the payment the moment I caught my mistake. Hopefully the calls will stop once the payment is processed.

They do this every time I pay the card a couple days late. I could understand if I was extremely late on a payment, like 30 days. But not 5. I think in a recession it is a waste of money to hire people to call cardholders 11 times a day for payments that aren't even 30 days past due yet. SOmetimes people just forget to pay the bill right on time, we still pay it.

This number called me five times a day for a week. When I answered it, they informed me that I have a late payment on my Macy's card (which I did). Instead of properly representing the Macy's card company, they asked if I would be willing to give them a credit/debit card number to pay for the charge right there on the phone. That is their game: they would like unsuspecting people to hand over their credit card info.

My father got a call from this # and a person tried to ask for my cell. This really bothers me

2009-07-23 14:16:35 UTCken w

I've only now just started receiving calls from this number. I was not home at the time and no message was left. My caller ID indicated MCCS. Thanks for the information all. I will not be calling them back.

2009-07-22 15:27:25 UTCWilliam M

They have been calling me at work almost non-stop for the past 3 days. Everytime, I've been unavailable and they did not leave any kind of message. Just like other people, when I called them, they asked me if I or someone in my family had a Macy's card. I told them no and refused to give my name when they asked. Then, they asked if I was Bali something. Judging by the number of comments from people who never had a Macy's card, I think it would be a good idea to get a current copy of my credit report.

2009-07-22 14:47:02 UTCFrigginLimey

Called the fukkers at that # back. It was MACYS store cards chasing a late payment.
I do posess a MACYS store card.

I dont own a Macy's card, nor have ever shopped at Macy's. Dont know why they are calling, but they called 11 times today alone. What is this crap about?

2009-07-17 01:31:19 UTCdon

Some barely intelligible idiot called and said we had a balance of $142 with Macy's and had missed a payment. They would be happy to take a payment by phone now. I have a ZERO balance on my Macy's Card, in fact after tomorrow, I will not have a Macy's account.

2009-07-10 12:45:52 UTCLaura

These people are idiots! My husband has a Macy's card and he is now in Iraq with the Navy. He's on an ammunition ship with about 5 million pounds of explosives on board! I'm worried sick about him, and I have to be bothered with this nonsense?!

If Macy's is that worried about collecting money, they should be more particular about who they give charge accounts to. After all, they're over-priced and have to go all the way to India to have their collections work done! To me, that speaks volumes!!!!!

2009-07-09 17:02:42 UTCdonna

I noticed the number coming in on the call ID...1-727-556-7300. It reads MCCS. Every hour on the hour for 2 days. On the 3rd day I picked up the phone & told them I'm on the national do not call registry, I couldn't understand a word he said in reply. This went on for 2 more days. They wouldn't tell me why they were calling and asking for my husband. On the 4th day I understood only the word, MACY'S. I asked my husband if he paid his Macy's bill he said, "yes." On the 5th day, finally, I could understand the representative from India. She explained the Visa & Macy card being 2 accounts. I told her, I find it very hard to believe Macy's would harrass customers in such a way over a $44 payment, which was paid, but on the visa not the store account. She fixed. I then called Macy's 800 number & spoke to a clear speaking representative. I explained the situation. He apoligized & gave me a FAX number to complain...here it is folks...7275565197. Spread the word. He explained the last 2 digits on the visa & the macy's accounts were different & that's how you clarify the accounts. If the visa card was used in Macy's the bill will be on that account. If the card was used in any other store but Macy's it will be on the other account. P.S. I did report them to the national do not call registry before everything was clarified...oh well...that goes to show them!

2009-07-08 00:41:25 UTCDd

They have called my house 7 times and my cell 4 times. I have never even been to a macy's.

2009-07-07 04:22:04 UTCbc

I get a call from this number every week day at the exact same time. The phone rings three times and then disconnects. They have never left a message and there is no one on the other line. I called the number at night and got a message saying that I'd reached "the credit center" -- for who? Who knows? -- and to call back during business hours.

2009-06-16 23:45:34 UTCAndy

When you answer, no one is on the other end.

2009-06-09 20:32:29 UTCcora

2009-05-28 15:15:27 UTCJanet

THIS NUMBER CONSTANTLY CALLS ME AT WORK - I called back, and they will not verify what its in regards to. If you answer when they call there is no one on the other end. This has been going on for YEARS. Someone has to do something about the HARRASSMENT by these callers.

2009-05-23 17:20:05 UTCPam

This number calls me about 10 times a day. I never answer but have called the number back they don't reveal who they are. Them some person who sounds like they are from India answers. If this is Macy's I will be canceling my card and never shop there again. I don't like them anyway. I miss Famous Barr!!!!!

2009-05-14 01:32:41 UTCNA

some scam artist trying to get info

2009-05-11 19:45:46 UTCRay

The major problem is that this is from Macy's and most likely a valid call. Don't call the MCCS number back and open yourself up to frustration with MCCs. Call Macy's at the number on the back of your card. That way you can be better assured that you're not being scamed, which you're most likely not anyway as mccs works for Macy's. The major problem is that Macy's is the ass in these instances for the most part. They have a system in which the separate macy's in store charges from their Visa charges. This means that when you look up your payment online it may likely come up as zero. This might only reflect the "VISA" charges and you may still have an in store balance that isn't displayed. This is where the frustration takes place, and since you may not have realized you had a balance past due you will start to accure late fees and such. Print up your zero balance from the site if you have one. Call Macy's and have them give you your actual balance and pay only that. You should be able to get the fees waved. Your credit will be reinstated in two days after the payment. It is best to do this at the store if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to go through a few departments to get the pay by phone fee of about $14 waved.

The best way around this is never to be tempted to accept a credit card at the service register for any store for a discount on your purchase unless you're willing to possibly pay for it with later frustration.

2009-04-29 00:20:13 UTCannoyed

They called 4 times just today..even after 8 pm!!!!!!!
I owe Macy's zero-0-zero; no reason to bother me like this!

2009-04-27 21:56:13 UTCLAS

They called 3-times today.

2009-04-22 00:43:06 UTCBSCalls

The one thing that everyone who gets this call should probably be aware of is that just because these people say that they are working with Macy's does not mean that they are. If you dial that number back, and give these people your account number and information, you might well be setting yourself up for some terrible financial problems. It is probably better to use the number that is on your card or bill to inquire about the account that these people say that they are working for. When I first spoke with the person, they tried to sound as though they had an accent from India, but when I informed then that the FBI was tracing the call, they sounded very American, and started saying that the call was breaking up; right classic bS. Be careful everyone! This sounds like a scam!!!!

2009-04-15 16:59:00 UTCAnna

Called once, left voicemail partially in my native language....what the heck?

2009-04-10 14:06:36 UTCKath

Legitimate Macy's collection call. They DO outsource to India. I do owe them...no job...no bucks to pay.

2009-04-09 14:47:40 UTCJohn

They called claiming to be MCCS Credit Services calling for Macy's. They asked for my girlfriend of about two years ago and gave me a call-back number of 1-800-545-1256. Sounds like a scam to me. The accent of the lady on the other end sounded like she was from India.

2009-03-13 22:39:25 UTCSteve

I think someone is playing a "dirty trick' on Macy's in St Petersburgh. The calls just ring up charges on Macy's Bill.

2008-02-23 17:26:32 UTCLiz L.

Constantly calls. When you say hello, a computer message comes on and says that your call is important..... You can not even get a person to say "Do not call".
Who are they and what do they want? How do we stop them from calling?

2008-02-22 17:18:17 UTCBill K

They call looking for the person that previously had my number. I tell them this is a new number, and I stop receiving calls for a while, but they eventually call back looking for the same person. Very annoying and rude. I can tell this is a collection agency, but they usually mumble the callback number. It took three messages before I got the entire number so I could call them back to tell them to quit calling me.

2008-02-21 20:19:38 UTCDeepak

Just got a call, dont know what it is, was looking for somebody else and I said its wrong number and he disconnected phone. Strange thing is when I got call, they played the tape that your call is important to us and our reprentative will attend you shortly. Looks like this number belongs to a call center, its is scam or not, I am no sure

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
