Suppose that, as a four-year-old, you are playing on a swing-set at the park when a bigger kid tries to kick you off. ,

To a beginner this sounds intringuing, since simple groups are very natural objects to define, whereas vertex algebras seem more convoluted. ,

After being called at least twice a day for over a month and not answering the phone when the caller ID showed Ontario I thought that they would get the hint I was not interested. No such luck. I then set up my answering machine to answer on the 4th ring with the following message. "Your call has been blocked because my machine did not recognize your number. Please enter your 4 digit security code to complete the call." By setting it on the 4th ring it gives me time to check the caller ID. After about three days of getting the message they have stopped calling me. Also works for Bank of America.

I guess being a school secretary where I HAD to answer the phone has made me grown immune to all these types of calls. I only glance at the telephone and if I don't know the number I let it roll on to voicemail. IF they don't leave a voicemail I figure it is not important enough for me to ruin my day over. Even if they do leave a message I don't know them, nor do I require their services so I don't return calls. IF by chance I switch over a call and don't check the id I'll hang up as soon as I hear the 2 second delay that most sales calls have. I'm glad it doesn't make my blood pressure rise when they call. They are NOT worth ruining your day over.

This company keeps calling me even though I have demanded they quit. I have asked them, yelled at them, threatened them. They just keep calling. I am not intererted in what they have to sell. I don't like Telemarketers and I don't know how they got my name. Guess my bank card sold me out.

These people start calling at 8 a.m. They are harassing in that they call multiple times a day. I have picked up the phone and told them to stop calling me. Call is from Ontario. I don't do business with anyone from Ontario.

They call every day. It rings 3 times and they hang up. I don't answer the phone for any call unless I check caller ID. I'm on the DNC list, but they still call

They call and ask for me (very rudely) when the wife answers. I hate using the phone due to hearing impairment. They refuse to answer her when I tell her to ask what they want they say they'll call back later. Next time I'll take the call and make the phuckers regret they ever called me.

They call at least weekly. Caller ID shows them as "Omega Direct." They do not leave a message on the answering machine.

This was a live person calling to sell me identity theft protection, stated he was with Bank of America.

Collection agency that dosen't have the brains to understand that the people they are trying to collect from are giving outbogus telephone numbers from old addresses. They can't comprehend that after the fifty-fifth call they aren't going to reach the person they want.

I have gotten calls from this number for months. They disconnect upon answering. The Company is Omega Direct Response in Toronto, Ontario.
They are a Telephone Boiler Room that outsources calling to India and Mexico. Two of their principle clients are Bank Of America and Comcast.
Here is how the deal works. They scam their clients by making the call, and hanging up and jumping to the next call as soon as someone answers, rarely ever actually making the sales pitch. Since the call records show a "Completed Call", the customers pay on that basis. It may not be their policy as a business, but it did not take their boiler room callers long to figure out the shortcut. If they do this they can get paid for 60 calls an hour!
We, of course, get the harrassing hangup calls.

You cannot call back the number because as soon as they hang up on you the scumbag is dialling the next one. Their main number is 416-640-3393. So "Return Their Calls" and let them know what you think of them, the next time you get one of these.

I've had several calls at all hours and the name on my caller id says Omega.

I have received calls several times from them. They come up as "Toronto" on my caller ID. They've never left me a message. They actually left me a message today and called me by name. I was going to call them back until I did some research and read all of the comments on this site!

647-288-7824 calls me: my Caller ID just says "Long Distance" and no one ever leaves a message. We have picked up once or twice, but all they do is hang up and keep calling back over and over...

My wife answered a call from this number and a man said "This is Bank of America" and asked for me by name, when I said hello there was no response from the caller. The caller ID states it is an Ontario call. Calls to 647-288-7824 state "Extension 4108 is unavailable" and transfers to voice mail.

Constantly called by this number, the caller hangs up when told that I'm not taking calls, or says that the call isnt important and that there is no message, or says that they are calling on behalf of the HSBC bank.....I have no connections with the HSBC

I keep getting calls from these people asking for someone who doesn't live at our home. They keep telling us that the person they are looking for had used this address as a contact. The funny thing is, the name they gave us it our daughter who lives in another state and has never used our address. Watch out for this company!

They say they are a "marketing" firm out of Ontario, Canada when, if fact, Ontario is a hotbed for telephone scams. I am wondering just how many of the people who've been called by them regularly list items or buy on eBay? I am almost 100% certain that they obtained my name and number through them.

Funny thing is I have relatives in Toronto, and thought it was Toronto cell number, but no message was left. So I Googled the number to find out it was/is like so many of you have said, "telemarketers" these blankety blank blanks need to take my blood clot number off their database

I recieved about 13 calls from them in the past 2 days i finally called back some guy answered it is a marketing company in Ontario Canada. i asked for my # to be removed, the guy said they would a week later i am still getting calls

They were offering "credit proctection" for Bank of America customers. I hung up.

I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau using this link: bbbmwo.ca as well as putting myself AGAIN on the U.S. Do-Not-Call list and the Canadian one as well. My solution for the odd zip code on the Canadian one was to split the zip code. It does not require the Provence to be entered so I am hoping it will work.

The complaint number I used was: 1163105. So if you want to add information to it yourselves I believe you can as well.

Received a call from 647-288-7824, the caller (women) said she is calling from Bell, regarding about your account.

They call at least once a day as early as 8:30am and late as 8:57pm.... last call I answered. she said she was calling on behalf of Cablevision, then we got disconnected...???? I am on the national do not call registry and filed a complaint... donotcall.gov.

I answered and I believe they said they were with Bank America Platinum card. I said I was on a no call list and she asked if I was on THEIR no call list, or a national no call list. She said she would remove me, but that it may take 30 days.

I did a little homework, and filed a complaint against these mysterious Ontarios buggers. The FTC dies not research individualt cases, however, they do take on criminal/civil cases against companies who continue to violate the DNC list. You must be registered at donotcall.gov to be able to file a complaint, but if enough of us file, then maybe these Ontario telemarketers will stop.

They have been calling me off and on for several months. I too have caller ID and all it says is Ontario. I don't answer, but it's really annoying because they call like 8-10 times a day.

Wow, I looked up this number just for the hell of it because they call constantly and of course, never leave a message. I was surprised how many other people get them too from the same number. I just use call block.

GOOD NEWS! I have been getting a ton of these calls also on a daily basis. But I just called my phone service (Cingular/AT&T) and they added me to their "do not call" service (this is separate from the national Do Not Call Registry, but is actually Cingular's method of tracking known phone numbers of telemarketers and ensuring the call does not reach you. They confirmed the 647-288-7824 was a number on their list and their service should keep this number from getting through to me. I'll let you know how this works, but give your phone carrier a try as they might have something like this to help you.

They harrass me constantly. I can't imagine what they could possibly want, as they hang up on me when I pick up and never leave a message on my answering machine. I just called back, yet again, and told them to take me off their list-i did the same via email. Let's see....

It's a Bank of America marketing company. They started calling when my husband got a new BofA credit card. They've switched marketing companies on us 3 times in the last 2 months. Whenever I get put on one "do not call" list, they stop calling for about 2 weeks, then start calling from another marketing company/phone number.

I received calls every day for 2 weeks from 647-288-7824. Did reverse look up and found that it was coming from Toronto, Ontario. On 4/23/07, had enough and called them straight back and asked who they were, told Omega Marketing and that they offer promotions. I asked to be taken off their call list, told okay but they needed me to verify my home phone number. After talking to them I spoke to At&t about the issue as I was concerned it was some sort of scam to run your bills up, only offered call blocker which does not block these calls I found out.

The caller asked for my daughter by name. She is at college. I am always suspicious of these calls. I won't call back because it is a toll call.

Tried to use call block. It won't work on this number.

The person says, he is from Bank of America. I was unsure though and called up Bank to verify. To my surprise, I was told that the call infact was from Bank.

They've called me 8 times within the last 5 days!!!

FYI, if you are on the DNC list and a marketing firm calls you even after being on the list for 60 days onwards, they can be fined a hefty amount of money for doing it. Specially if they are members of the DMA and have a CAN-SPAM authorization number.

Two days in a row. I didn't answer and they left no message on machine. Very annoying since I am on every DNC list invented.

I called Bank of America. Told them I wanted to cancel my acct b/c of extreme annoyance from Omega Direct. I never spoke w/Omega (just endured a few hang ups) but I accused BOA of giving my unlisted ph. # (& DNC registered, too) to Omega and the rep didn't deny it. She said that "FYI every credit card does it". I informed her [truthfully] that I had NEVER received a call before from Omega or any like company with any other credit card that I have had with any other bank. Why bother? There are other viable alternatives. BOA isn't the god of credit. I think the best way to get the message across is to cancel the card and shop elsewhere. No one is perfect, but mass cancellations at BOA might send a message. In the meantime, Omega will get updated info that we no longer hold the card and there will be no point in pursuing solicitations. Just a thought.

I was away for 3 days with my answering machine on, now i have 53 MISSED CALLS from this number and no message left at all. Looking at the call log sometimes they called 2 or 3 times within 5 minutes of each other.. What is this BS??????????

Hmmmm....The day after I told Omega to stop calling (and they agreed to put me on their Do Not Call list) we started getting calls from this number: 469-501-4767, and it says "Texas Call" or "Unknown Name". I think this is a fake telemarketer number, because the exchange 501 is associated with that Texas area code (469). This happen to anyone else?

We have received several calls from this number. I will not answer as there is no good reason in the world that we would receive a call from Canada.

Something to add: Look carefully on the backside of any credit cards you may have received recently. HSBC is a very large bank that has given out a great number of credit cards. Even if you don't believe you have ever dealt with this bank, you may have done so inadvertantly with securing a new credit card, or doing something recently (like consolidating debts) with that credit card.

I did so directly at the telephone number listed, asked that my number be put on a "Do Not Call" list, and the person said it would be taken off the calling list within 24 hours. I will follow up with this later this week with the results.

People are caling claiming to be from Bank of America and others trying to get your credit card info by saying there has been activity on your accout. Don't believe them, they are stupid.

Calling at all times of the day, for weeks. Finally spoke to them, asked who they were (representing Bank of America). I asked them not to call ever again and they said they'd take me off all of the lists (BoA's I suspect) and this might take 6-8 weeks and that they might accidentally call me in that time and apologized in advance. Reasonably polite about it (more than myself).

Interesting that the day before yesterday (14 March) I made a balance transfer to my BofA account, and now today (16 March) I get a call (we didn't answer) from Omega. Anyone else had this sort of experience?

I've receive 3 calls in the last 48 hours, and I decided to phone it back today, and spoke to someone. When I asked why the number is on my caller id, and why there was no voice mail, she responded, "it is a marketing company, they will phone you back."

Is there any way of suing for harassment? Can't take it any longer.

Get this occassionally, but we screen all calls and at least it is while we're awake.

I've been getting these calls daily for months. Caller ID shows "TORONTO ON." I finally answered for the first time today. She asked for a person I've never heard of, and I asked to have my number removed from their call list. She said it'd be removed within 60 days from all units of HSBC. I think HSBC is some kind of bank. I've never done any business with them. I guess the Do-Not-Call registry doesn't apply to calls from foreign countries.

i kept getting this phone number throughout the week constantly. funny tho, everytime they call, they never stay on the phone long enough for me to answer it. im starting to think that they are afraid of my ringback tone. they probably think they made the mistake of calling a company, and were put on hold with elevator music. btw, they keep calling me on my cell phone, only.

i used to work in an inbound call centre; by law, after 30-60 days, canadian residents are on the list for 3 years, american residents are on for 5.

I have received calls from this number with the caller ID Toronto, ON. I do have a cc that was taken over by Bank of America. You can log on to their web site and under privacy & security, you can request not to be contacted in just about every form of communication. Or call 1.888.341.5000 Worth a try. Now if Chase cc woould just stop calling.

Day after day these mongrels would call at least twice a day. They are indeed the Omega telemarketing group as listed in one of the comments. They market for more than Bank of America; a girl kindly gave me a list of companies on my first call.

These people have rang my phone off the hook. They never leave a message. I finally changed my voice over ip phone to ignore the number. Nice feature now they get a busy signal when they call. I am sure I am not behind on any bills so they must be selling something

I got a call at night from this phone number, at that time I was not at home because with my job I have sometimes to be outside home.
My wife took the call, and the voice speeking was a woman, that woman asked just if I was there or not without living any message.
Today my wife belives that I have a secret relation outside home, and I do not know how to solve this problem.

How do they get away with this when one has a "do-not-call" order in place?

The number kept coming up and I'm on the Nat'l No Call List. I finally called them and they answered Omega Direct. They claim that they can't take me off because I have an account with one of the companies then represent. What a nuisance!

They called and I took a message. They said they were from bank of america and gave me an 888 phone number.

They called my house and I wasn't home... but my little sister was (she was not alone)and she answered the phone... They started asking her questions about me... My age, where I was if I had a job... Weird... I got a little freaked out so I needed to know who they are....

This call came thru on my cell phone. Didn't recognize the number so didn't answer. Caller ID just showed the number.

I received two calls from them today according to caller ID. After reading all of your messages, I decided to see if there was a Canadian equivalent to the U.S. Do Not Call registry. Here's the link I found: cornerstonewebmedia.com
I'm going to register and hope the calls stop. Six weeks though? Yikes.

Called them back and they said they are a telemarketing company. Could barely understand the person on the phone. Called again about 2 weeks after the first call and I did not answer.

Phone number provided below did not work. Used contact us on their website.

I got a call from this person this morning. I thought it was a work call, so I googled the number to get the persons name, and I got this site (?) It said Toronto, ON on my caller ID...They didn't leave a message and I hope they dont call again!!!

I've received two to four calls a day for several weeks. I emailed them to stop calling about two weeks ago and they did not stop. I called the number until I real person answered and told her to take me off her list. She was nice and I hope they stop for good. I'm sick of them.

They called here and a number did come up but when we answered no one would answer the other end,,, almost like they are stalking

I'm home sick today and got 2 calls that I didn't answer. It said "Unknown Name". Thanks to this website, when I answered the 3rd call I knew to tell the person to take me off the list. She said she's calling from BofA marketing and it could take 30 days. She actually had my mom's name, though my mom's not at this phone number. She (the caller) apologized for the error.

Thanks for the link to their homepage. Just sent off a blistering email - hope it gets results. These guys call 4 or more times a day and it's about to drive me NUTS. Do these companies really think that they're going to get someone's business by pestering the hell out of them and pissing them off on a daily basis?

They asked for my dad, they also asked when would be a better time to call, I said not in the middle of the afternoon when he's at work.

They keep calling over 8 times per day. When I answer, I hear people and paper in the background but nothing happens...I blocked thier number from reaching me.

I'm getting calls from these people day and night, even on the weekends. They won't leave a message on the machine and we don't answer the call.

the bastards call using autodialers and then dont leave any message. They show up as ontario call so you think it is a regular call. Best thing to do is to email them after doiung a google of the number and tell them to go to hell.

I just got two calls from this number in the past 20 minutes on my cell phone. I can restrict incoming calls to only receive the ones in my contact list. maybe that will stop them.

Received a call from this number, no message, on caller id it shows up as unknown name.

I received a phone call from "unknown name" and the telephone print out of 647-288-7824. They asked to speak to my husband who wasn't home.We are signed up on the Do Not Call List.

647-288-7825 Caller Id states Ontario. Spouse answered and they said they were trying to contact me as a courtesy call. I called them back (from my undisclosed office location) and they said they were from Omega Direct Response. I told them I had the wrong number. Wonder what they want. There are scams all over the internet about regarding Omega Direct.

bank of america, trying to sell you a plan where they will cancel your minimum payment for a catastrophe, oh,for 95 cents a month. ha ha. yes the caller i.d. says ontario .

These people call me once or twice a day, never leave a message, just keep calling. I looked at their web site, omegadirect.com, and there is no way to tell them to remove my phone number from their lists. I am on the DNC list both state and federal, but it doesn't seem to matter.

I've received this call several times in the past few weeks on my cell phone. No information other the phone number show up. I've always just ignored the call since I didn't recognize the number.

January 3, 2007:

I just got another annoying hang up call from this number. I have gotten hang up calls from this number at various times of night and day for a couple of months, now. We do not have Caller ID, but when I access our dial back feature, this is the number which is revealed. Reverse Information has nothing listed for this number.

They call pretty much daily. Shows up on caller ID as Out of Area. They Never leave any message (shows importance of call and rudeness of caller).

FYI - I received a call today from 647-288-7824
"Ontario" on the caller ID. They did not leave a message.

We've been receiving calls repeatedly, sometimes up to 4-6 times per day, but everytime we answer the phone there is nobody there. We've called back and left a message to stop calling(5 minutes ago), we'll see if it helps.

thought it was a friend calling from TO, but did not pick up as I won't answer calls when I don't know who is on the other end. If they call repeatedly, I'll scare them a bit by montioning Omega, or answer in obscure languages, perhaps American Sign Language might do the trick.

I am another who hates these calls that are SO IMPORTANT that they keep calling, but NEVER leave any message. No matter what they're selling, I'd never deal with rude people like this.

Someone from this # called asking for me and my mother picked up. They ended the call very quickly.

Received a new call from them today. They informed me they had an issue with the tape recording of our conversation yesterday as it was disconnected and didnt sign me up. They offer privacy protection on certain credit cards. I feel definitely more confortable today now that the person explained it even more for me. Basically it offers you all kinds of protection for 139$ a year CAD. But this time around I immediately declined the free offer. So what I can see is they do offer legit stuff as I contacted the cc company they were representing and they knew info about the call I received. Basically they represent all kinds of companies, I would still suggest calling them if your interested not answer anything over the phone....

I received a call for the first time from them tonight I believe. I answered and basically she told me stuff tha they were calling from HSBC or something of sorts and that they knew I had received a brand new cc recently from a company and they knew my address, name and phone number and the cc that I was approved for. Here is my issue what they were doing was offering me coverage on my cc against theft or fraud+ free credit reports anytime I wanted for 139$ a year with a 30 day free trial. Anyways it was alot of bla blah. She started recording the call and resaying everything she had said originally, figured that I hadnt given my number or address or the cc info that I should be fine. The basically asked for my birth city confirmed it and then all of a sudden the phone hung up. I was real terrified at this point. So I called the exact number that came up on the screen and it says extension 4108 is currently on the phone. It has been saying this for 4 hours and its 10:35 pm and still saying it. I have pressed 0 and they say their office is open from 9 to 6 mon to fri.

Right now I am real worried with everything that is going on in the world with identity thefts however do any of you believe I need to worry if the only thing I ever gave them was my birth city?

Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I called Bell Canada they confirmed the call seems to come from Toronto and he doesn't think I should worry about the birth city however you never know as he then said.

sounds like a call center (other agents can be heard in the background) for Bank of America solicitation for credit monitoring service. (NOT sure if it's legit or not)

Have received several calls from this number in the past 2 days. Caller ID says Ontario. I don't answer, they never leave a message.

Call recieved at this number saying "Toronto, ON" at 11:15 Dec. 5th. I called the number it told me to return, (which was in my home state) and was told to ask for "Lexi Star". When I called, they told me this person doesn't really exist, but they could transfer me to someone who did. I tried this twice, getting the message that whoever wasn't at their desk. They wouldn't tell me what it was about, only that it was a buisiness call. I'm glad I found this site...I am also on the national DNC list. I also emailed them to remove me....we'll see. I get calls from this number two to three times a day, everyday. I read the above responses pertaining to this number and have emailed Omego Direct requesting to be placed on their DNC list. We'll see.

We've been getting calls every day from this number and until today they would just hang up when someone answered the phone. Finally, today the caller identified herself as representing Bank of America. It was a telemarketing call which since we are BoA customers, they are fully able to call despite having our number in the DNC list. I asked if the person was an employee of Omega and they froze. Probably not expecting me to know, which I wouldn't have if I hadn't seen this site yesterday. I asked not to recieve any more solicitations from either BoA or Omega. The caller politely agreed and said that it may take up to 30 days for all calls to stop. That part is pretty annoying because I know they must be using a computer system to generate call lists, and know from personal experience that it does not take that much effort to click a "do not call" button on their computer screen...

I would recommend that everyone else who recieves a call from Omega request to be removed from all of their call lists. U.S law requires that they comply with your request.

We have received numerous phone calls from this company and can never talk to someone when I call back. This time I dialed Smith (a common name) to try to get someone on their directory and got a Gregg Smith's voice mail. I left a message for them to stop calling me. Maybe if you guys leave enough messages on his answering service, he'll do something about it.

I am currently home sick, and they have woken me in the morning everyday for the past two days. Each time, I pick up the phone and no answer, and then I hear a "click."

This number came up on my caller ID on Nov. 16 2006 at 6:21 p.m. eastern time. I did not answer it, but it sounds like nothing good has come out of this call.

Thanks for the heads-up with the website! I just wrote them off it and asked to be put on their DNC list.

However it is odd that they are a member of the US Direct Marketing Association -- and I am on both the Federal & State DNC main lists -- so I would think I wouldn't be getting their annoying calls ;-)

We get a call from this number (ontario) at least three to five days a week around 8:30pm pacific standard time...but have not answered yet

This shows up as Ontario Call and we don't know anyone in Ontario. Nor do we answer the call, but this caller doesn't leave a message either. So who are they and what do they want???????? I want them to stop calling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get a phone call 1-4 times a DAY from this number. On my caller ID all it says is Ontario along with this number. These occur anytime of day or night and if called back ... they want you to leave a message. If I press 0 it states that they are Omega Direct Response. This has been going on for the past several weeks now.

I received a call from a woman asking for my husband. When I said that my husband was at work and I am his wife, what can I help you with... no one said anything to me, and then hung up on me.

These clowns call once or twice a day, wait a few days and call again. They wait until the outgoing voice mail message completes, stay on the phone for 2 or 3 seconds then hang up. There is a lot of telemarketer-type background noise. I have never spoken to them since I programmed my VoIP service to send them straight to voice mail.

I said to remove my number and DO NOT call my house again. She asked for my name and number and said it would take 30 days.

I got a call November 2, 2006 at 1:32 pm. Here is what the caller ID says: "TORONTO ON" "647-288-7824". Missed the call and no message left. I called back and the person I talked to indicated he was with Omega direct response and this was probably a marketing call -- and they would call back. I asked him to remove my number from the list and he said he would.

They have been calling every other day. I finally answered.
A very young male (sounded like he was having his voice change) told me I had been selected for a premium credit card with HSBC and that there were no fees.
He wanted to confirm my address and then said that he would want to confirm a few other details so that I could receive this credit card. He also said that the call would be recorded.
I stopped him and said I did not need a Platinum Credit Card and was not interested.
I then hung up.

I do not think this was a legitimate call. I was pretty sure that the next question was going to be about my Social Security Number.

I am getting these calls now 2-3 times a day. I just answer let the automated dialer connect to a person and then say nothing. Seems to annoy them and it makes me feel better. It is the small things in life...

Call fm # made "many" hangups. Upon contacting #, reps were rude/hungup & WOULD NOT provide contact to co officers or legal dept. When I req that co call the local police (due to my continuing calls), the co hungup on me.

I've been receiving alot of these calls for my brother. I ask them who is calling & what this is about, they get very ignorant & say they will call back & literally slam the phone down. It's so frustrating.

They have called a few times now, and we haven't been home, but it is a mystery to me. Sounds like telemarketing.

This call shows up as Canada Call on my Caller ID. They've called several times in the past. They hit me like 2-4 times per month.
