How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

If this is SIMM ASSOCIATES they are a company (if you can call them that) that buys debts from other companies, for practically nothing, then gets you to pay for it in full, and make money off of it
and then they dont send any notification to the credit bureau. On top of it, they are abusive, creepy, and manipulative.
They try to scare you, however they haven't done anything.

Also, They work with Discover acounts, but it may not be u, it may just be a similar name, they dont care, they just want ur money,
Ignore them, and tell them to stop calling and take u off their list, they have to under the new laws.
I get several calls a day from this number. When I answer, they ask for someone I don't know. When it goes to voicemail, it's just a message with a request to call Discover. I call the customer service number on my card instead of the number left in the message and, as expected, my balance is $0 (always is; I use the card about once a year just to keep the account active). I'm guessing the message is really for the same person they ask for when I answer.

I called the number that appeared and was able to have the service rep for Discover take my number from their auto-dialer. If you have a Discover card, then they are trying to reach you. I just got my cell number last week, so the users that had the number before me were DiscoverCard customers. I was able to get their mailing address and then advised the rep that if I received another call that I would take legal action. Of course, she said that I would not receive any more calls, but we all know that my number will somehow make its way onto the list again.
I got a call yesteday morning, asking for my mom saying they were from Discover, than twice today at the same time as yesterday asking for some other people, but they were no longer from Discover.

A month later they call again for the same person.
it's a telemarketing company associated with discover card. i called discover card and asked to please be removed from the list. they said the calls would stop but it might take up to two weeks.
Receive up to 20 calls a day from this number to my cell and my home. I have started, answering and immediatly hanging up to show record of the harrasing amount of times they have called. This starts when a payment is 24 hours late....
It is a Collection Agency (SIMM Associates) calling about a Discover card account that went into collections. Most of the time the Caller ID shows Unknown Number, but this last time it showed the number. I didn't answer and as soon as they hung up they called back again (It was still the same time they called back so quick) and the second time it showed up as "Unknown Number". I have spoken with them a couple of times about this account.
It's Discover Card customer service. They called because of a missed payment.
this call came in as 614-283-1943 & today (12/4/07) as 283-1942. this is a promotional telemarketing thing. nothing to do with overdue bills.
This is discover card calling. If you have never had one then i would ask them to take your number off their list, if you have a card you might have an over due amount.
