How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Caller identified herself as being from Discover Card. Problem is that I don't have and have never have had a Discover Card.
Thinking about it a long time and it must be that this is a devious gang of villains. If positive comments posted here are true and not from these same folks, then how do comments against them spring up at all? There can not be any fraud done upon my own card either! Therefore, be ye not deceived, for these furious calls are a pitch in the dark.

This was the first of two calls on my cell. I never give my cell out and only use my home number. I'm pretty sure it's a fraud attempt and I will not call them back. Discover has called me in the past, but on my home phone.
Called the number on the back of my card. My rep said this was indeed "phishing". Told not activity was present on my card, even though phone message said there was illegal or suspicious activity/ My Discover card rep said they were going to watch my card as a result of this, and said the phone number given was illegit. The whole thing is a scam to get you to confirm your card number, SSN, and zip code.
Automated message to call Discover Fraud. I called the number listed on the back of the card instead of the number provided in case it was social engineering. Verified it was Discover and proceeded with conversation.
This call was from Discover Card Fraud Prevention. They were very friendly and helpful when I called back. I called the toll free number on my card and they were able to confirm a call had been placed and then I was transferred to Fraud Prevention. I did suggest they leave a familiar number....you can't be too careful!!!
Automated message to call Discover Card Fraud Prevention Security Dept at 1-800-347-4996. They were verifying suspicious activity on my account. Friendly and pleasant representative. A+
