my folks had gotten some calls from this 522 number sayng they were given as a credit reference from someone using my name.the problems are i havent used my maiden name since my marriage in 1986. and i havent applied for anything.
my mother called back by cell with me on landline and the girl would not give out the reason of the call other than they're my credit reference. then she asked to verify if it was the same person by asking for my birthdate from my mom. im yelling NOOO tell her to give it to you! they should already have this info shouldnt they? i applied for somthing right? the girl then decided she could not talk anymore due to the privacy act laws. when my mom asked if the 522 number was the number to call back on the girl said yes. message had said to call back on a 866 number. please follow next post

If you've read all of the posts here you should have a good idea as to what to do. There are things like filing complaints with both your and their state Attorney General's office, complaining to the FTC, getting an attorney, etc.

I've gotten some of the info I needed and I can say without any doubt that GARNISHMENT4U and COLLECTOR are the same person just like Robbie said. It also looks like he posted here using the nom de plume ANONYMOUS but I don't have all the info I need to be sure. If I get it I'll be sure to let you know.

If I'm able to find out his real name, address and phone number I'll put it up here for all to see. I'll also try to find out where he works (if he works) and his phone number there.

These are the peskiest of telemarketers. EVERYTIME they call go to donotcall.gov the COMPLAINT button and fill out the form. If everyone did this whenever they got a call I believe it would have the desired effect: That these a**holes be put out of business!

The pieces of shit that kept calling refused to accept what I was saying. They asked me personal information such as my name, address, Social Security number etc. Every time they asked I was civil and told them that since I wasn't the person they wanted and I had no idea who they were I was not going to divulge any information (especially since with that information I could wind up the victim of identity theft). At one point I was actually told that I was a fucking liar and that they were going to have me arrested. At that point I made up my mind that I wasn't going to take that bullshit from them and I purchased an air horn. I never got the chance to use it because they would hang up when I answered the phone or they would call when I wasn't home. The telephone calls stopped when I had an attorney write them (the letter that the attorney wrote simply told them the same thing I told them and ended by saying I would sue them if they continued to harass me.

Again, all of what I have said is true. Even though you probably won't believe it I ask you again, for the sake of this argument to do just that. With that in mind, how do you think I should feel and react?

I want to say that I have NEVER posted here under any name other that Robby and in scrolling through the posts here, it appears that Robbie has never posted under my name.

I find it interesting that you want to paint almost everyone here with the same broad paintbrush and label us as deadbeats who owe money or who protect relatives who owe money. Yet, you completely ignore the fact that in most cases neither of those scenario's is accurate.

Let's take myself as example. Even though this is true I'm not asking you to believe me, but for the sake of this argument let's say I am telling the truth.

There are no blemishes on any of my credit reports, and there never have been any. My credit score is well over 800. I paid off my 30 year mortgage in less than 19 years. I could go on but I hope you get the picture.

Over a year ago I started getting phone calls from Premier Credit about someone. Whoever that person is there were several facts that Premier Credit ignored. First; I wasn't that person. Second; That person wasn't related to me. Third; I didn't know that person.

So yes this is Premiere Credit, and they are collecting student loans, but they can't tell you that unless it is you they are looking for. If they say you are a "reference" someone in your past has used your name on a student loan ap and has defaulted on the loan. I just found out they were calling me about my deadbeat cousin, who is a drug adict and has many many other problems. I hope they find her. And I gave them whatever they needed. I talked to a couple of people there and two were very nice, the third might not have been if I wasn't supplying information. Just call them back and have them remove your number. Or better yet help them find the deadbeat that didn't pay their student loan, so maybe someone else who wants to go to school can.

This is apparently a collection agency used by the U.S. Department of Education on defaulted student loans. They called my parents and told them they were listed as a credit reference, and asked for the following information: my address, my current work status, where I worked, etc. They are lying to relatives and friends to obtain your information so that they can find you/your source of income and possibly start the process of garnishing your wages, etc. WATCH OUT, BE CAREFUL & TELL YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS NOT TO GIVE OUT ANY OF YOUR INFO. Also, I am checking into it, but I believe that this company is violating the federal FAIR DEBT COLLECTIONS ACT by falsifying their reason for calling. If I find this out, I will post another comment!

I think a good 60-70% of the people you're chasing are intentionally not paying just to spite people like you, when they may have originally had every intention to make good on the debts they know they morally obligated to pay back. But sometimes life happens, and when it comes down to feeding your kid and paying for your medications or paying a bill you know no one will die over if it doesn't get paid - guess what's going to win - your kid, your health. They've been calling my cell phone nonstop - first with this #, then after I blocked that # they "morphed" over to a local #, apparently with that software someone was talking about. Blocked that one too. I don't care, I'll keep blocking them, if my memory card gets full, i'll clear it out, and start all over again. At least it seems to have slowed those f*%kers down. At first they kept leaving the "someone has listed you as a reference" message. Really? Well then tell me who you are and I might call you back, I'm not an idiot. Then, after like 68 of those messages, I started getting the ominous, deep toned, frat-boy standing in the sewer sounding "WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT YOU SEVERAL TIMES, YOU HAVE FAILED TO RESPOND. YOU MUST CONTACT OUR OFFICE THIS MONDAY BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 9AM TO 9 PM..." And the sewer frat boy voice repeated himself at least 3 times, maybe more,I don't know, I was laughing so hard I hung up and had to go wipe my tears off my face. SO ANYWAY-- I'm going to file my complaint with the FTC, and I hope this company goes down in flames. Pretty soon this company's owner will be fending off debt collector calls of his own. Hopefully after he gets out of prison.

their are companies out that have everybit of information about you that you have know idea. they know your neighbors, your relatives, even ex's. where ever you have gotten mail, they can find you, and even get yout social security number off of these websites. the companies are payed by premiere credit to get this information so they can find you and bug the hell out of you.

If everyone called the Federal Trade Commission and filed a complaint, the government would be more likely to notice Premier Credit has violated the Fair Debt Collection Act.

Thanks for posting about the Bud Hibbs site. I've known about it for around 8 months but for some reason I never remember to post about it when I'm on this site.

budhibbs.com This site has TONS of information on how to handle these calls. It explains your rights and ALL the laws that Premiere is breaking. They are one of the worst collection agencies.

I have been receiving these recorded messages for over 3 irritating months and decided to do some research. The call is coming from Premiere Credit of North America LLC and they are one of the private collection agencies contracted by the Dept of Education to collect Defaulted Student Loans. Apparently the Dept of Ed has failed to verify that these collection agencies have any education in the FAIR DEBT COLLECTION PRACTICES ACT. Premiere Credit hasn't heard of the Federal Trade Commission since they are using recorded messages that do not identify who they are or that they are attempting to collect a debt. They seem to only be out to deceive and harrass. They also don't attempt to contact the person they are trying to reach using the information given to them by the Dept of Education either. They are contacting third parties and advising that the person they are attempting to locate has a defaulted student loan.
I am reporting every violation to the FTC and so should everyone else that is being harrassed by agency. One more note, they are now calling my phone number using a locale telephone number that shows up on caller ID. It shows the local number but "unknown caller".

I had been getting these recorded messages every weekend for six weeks. I reported this to my telephone company. They called the mumber which turned out to be Premier Credit. They said I owed money to the government(not true). The phone company told them not to call me again. My caller ID has been free of 522-417-4563 for 2 months. Try complaining to your phone company.

No message, calls constantly, occasionally twice per night. Often the calls are followed immediately by several other similar calls from unknown callers and no messages. Suspect scam or ring down calls from some marketers.

There are numerous ways they could have gotten your cell phone number. I don't want to say what they are because I might be giving out information to someone reading here, that they don't currently know about.

Two things I will tell you are you should should have your cell phone carrier block your number from being displayed when you call someone. You also should be careful when you call a toll-free number from your cell phone. Even with a block in place your number will still be available to whoever is on the other end of that toll free number.

You might want to also consider changing your cell phone number.

This company said they were trying to locate my ex-boyfriend because of his old student loans. When I told the "guy" (use of a nicer term) not only had I not seen or spoken to my ex in 12 years, but I had also retrieved a full order of protection 12 years ago against my ex. The "guy" said he was "sorry" (whatever) to bother me and hung up.

How did they get my cell phone number?? Can anyone please tell me?

I bought an air horn to use. I even posted here that I was going to buy one and use it.

It's a shame but I never got the chance to try it out. I went to my attorney's office a short time after I bought the air horn so he could write them the letter that stopped their crap phone calls. For the week or so, until the calls stopped, most of the time they called when I wasn't home. The few times they did call when I was home they simply hung up when I answered (I know it was them because of my caller-id).

I still have the air horn so if they EVER start to call again I hope to God that I am home and able to use it. As I said before, I don't care if I cause any of those premier credit bastards to go deaf.

One other thing I feel you should do is get in touch with your local telco (telephone company). Ask for the department that handles harassing calls. Tell them what is happening and ask them for help. If they fail to try to help you then complain to your local Public Utility Commission or whatever governing body regulates your telephone company, and file a complaint against the telco for failure to help. The governing body may also be able to help you by suggesting what the telco can and cannot do.

You need to follow through with your threats (the lawyer, not you going there).

When I had my attorney write them I never had any further problems. If you cannot afford an attorney try to find out if there are any community legal service type groups in your area or maybe there a some attorney's that will help you pro-bono. You might want to check out probono.net.

You have to remember that these people are slime. They are used to empty threats and it won't deter them. If you let them know that you are serious they will back off.

I used to work for that sorry ass company, and let me tell you it was a huge relief when I walked out of that door for the last time. Don't be too hard on the collectors, they are only doing what their owner demands,. He treats his employees like shit, and does not care. But by the city of Indianapolis he is treated as this great business owner and one of the top growing small companies in the U.S. Plus he will screw his employees out of money anyway he can, and knows their is nothing they can do about it. As a follow-up to my posting here in December 2006 I want to tell everyone that I was able to get the phone calls stopped.

I had an attorney write them a letter. Among other things he told them that they not only had the wrong person but they had been informed of that, by me, a number of times. He also told them that if they continued to call me, or if they placed something in my credit file that didn't belong there, he would bring suit against them.

Neither my attorney nor I have heard back from them but the calls stopped just around the same time my attorney told me he had received the signed receipt that verified they had received the letter.

If any of you piece of shit SOB's who work for Premier Credit are reading this I just want to say to you that all of you are lower than pond scum. When you are confronted with someone who knows how to handle you spineless bastards you scurry back under the rock you came out from.

These criminals are a collection agency for the US Government Student Loan agency. Even though I negotiated to give away over a 1/3 of my income to repay the loan they continuously harass me to try and get me to sign more and more restrictive clauses that gives them more and more money. As soon as my loan is rehabilitated to the Department of Education I intend to seek legal action . IGNORE THEM!!! BETTER YET SUE THEM!!!

These guys are big time wasters and should be stopped. They have been leaving me messages for some time now - and I AM on the do not call list.

They called back - 5/13. Only time since we rang them. I called them today but had to leave a msg (it's Sunday). Told their answering service that this needs to stop or we will file a harrassment suit. Typically suits like this are awarded thousands of dollars so we're going to build up documentation so that if this continues that we'll take THEIR money.

They called my girlfriend 1-2 times a day for a few weeks. We finally rang them today. They asked for her name and she said, "No, you called me. Here's my number - why are you calling?".

They claimed that a "Leticia Washington" had listed her as a reference. Yeah right!

She told them, "I have no idea who that person is, and don't know anyone with a similar name".

This is a collection agency. My student loans are almost 30 yesrs old, and they did discharged thru banktruptcy that I filed in 1985. They are calling constantly. They were able to garnish my wages starting 4/13/07 since they used US Dept of Education as back up. My employer got scared and honored their garnishment. I am in the process of APPEALING with US Dept of Education to stop this unjust garnishment. I told this agency since they got want they wanted, meaning wage garnishment, sit back and enjoy for time being, and let this ride. Today, I recevied another VM message from Daniel Howard (1-866-808-7286 ext 11457)wanted to help me!!! What an stupid approach. Speaking of annoying and harrasement? Appearently there are no laws against mis representation? Not sure. I missed a call at work from the 522-417-4563 number yesterday. I thought nothing of it til later when our HR manager came to my office and said this guy, Chad from Premier Credit, called her about garnishing my wages because I'd defaulted on a student loan!... I don't have any student loans!!! I called Chad back at the number he gave her (866-808-7286 BTW) and got Premier Credit in Indianapolis. Once I got Chad on the phone he started with the whole, "garnishment is a serious thing speech". After I told him I didn't have any student loans he asked, "Is your social XXX-XX-XXXX?"... "No.", I said. "Is it like one number off?" he asked. "No, I'm..." and (without thinking and like an IDIOT) quickly rattled off my SSN over the phone. (Please PLEASE Lord, don't let THAT doesn't come back to haunt me!)... Anyway, it turns out these people are looking for some guy with the same name, who lives (or lived) in the same town as me, for defaulting on (get this), his Beauty School loans! Anyway, Chad apologised and said, "If you get anything in the mail from us, just send it back and write WRONG MICHAEL on it"... OK, but they certainly better not have my mailing address too! Long story short, Premier Credit gets much less than top marks for professionalism in my book... and if they DO keep trying to pin someone else's student loans on me, I'm gonna loose my mind (up in here, up in here). Collector, It is not anyones responsibility to force another person to pay anything. it is, however, EVERYONE'S, including your right, I'm afraid, to live their lives in peace in this country without encumbrances from unwanted or unsolicited telephone calls. I personally pay all of my bills. I have no idea whether or not any or all of my relatives pay their bills, but I have to admit, I really don't give a damn one way or the other if they do or don't. I don't want to be called in reference to anyone else. If you had actually read the posts above yours, you would know that these people are not "collectors" of any type. You would have also noticed if you had read that trying to return the call produces a recorded "out of service" message and since it is a recorded message, answering the phone doesn't help either. Additioanlly, any entity who calls and refuses to identify themselves to the person they have called, is actually the one hiding. I would say that blasting people about paying their bills before you have any idea whether these people have paid their bills or not, is ignorant and stupid of you. If you want unsolicited telephone calls from unknown entities calling then why are you on this site anyway? Seems like YOUR the one who needs to find something better to do with you time.

They are constantly asking about him. Best advise would be to contact the prison system in AZ, that was the last place he was, once again that was 15 years ago.

The number has been calling me for weeks now, using up all the space on my answering machine each time. Picking up the phone when they call doesn't help, and calling the number they say to call does nothing -- it doesn't ever connect.

How are they able to call from an non-existing number?

These people have been calling me at least 4 times a week for at least 2 months and since I work during the day, The recorded message is mostly cut off becae the recording starts before the VM picks up.

I want to know why they calling me?what they want?

They have been calling for over a month now for some one I have never heard of. I have told them over and over that they have the wrong number.

Left a message on my machine saying his name was Chad Edmonton with the Litigation Department at Premier Credit, calling about defaulted student loans. Two calls, 2-minutes apart. The other number called from (same guy) is 253-584-5089.

This phone number is driving me crazy!!!!! They start calling on Friday night and call all through the weekend. We even received a call on Christmas day! They need to be prosecuted for harrasement!

They have been calling for about two weeks asking for someone who, I keep telling them, does not live here. I finally "lost it" during the last call and told the person what she could do. We have been receiving calls from this number for several days saying (pre-recorded) that I've been listed as a personal reference and to call a 800 #. No other info given. Haven't called them back. Figured if it was that important, a real person would call.

My child answered the phone. It was a recording requesting a call back. We do not have caller ID so I used *69 to get the number. It couldn't be reached so I Googled it & found this site. I hope they don't continue to call!

they called me and informed me that I have an outstanding college loan with them from 1985 ( I was a freshamn in high school that year). they repeatily asked me my SS #, which I would not provide, they apoligized and said they have the wrong person, yet they call me three times a day after that.

These idiots have called at all hours of day and night looking for someone we dont know, it is a automated number. if i answer they will not tell me who they are.

This number is from a collection agency. The individuals trying to be reached have defaulted on their loans or bills. However, the professionalism is a little substandard. I tried the number today and the call "could not be completed as dialed." Be
extremely careful. The number does not match any number from Premier Credit, to the best of my knowledge.

I CHECKED THE NUMBER THROUGH INTERNATIONAL OPERATOR AND IT CAME FROM MEXICO. I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST, BUT WE CONTINUE GETTING CALLS. MY NEXT STEP IS AN AIR HORN, AND WHEN I HEAR A VOICE, THEY WILL NOT HEAR FOR A WHILE.

I was called today and they stated an ex-boyfriend from 14 years ago had listed me as a reference, i was in shock and scared as this person had sweared to kill me. after searching for a while i came to this website and realized the scam. these people should be stopped.

I received a call from a Mr. Johnson asking me for info on my sister whom he said listed my Dad as a reference for a loan. We gave him generic info, nothing too confidential because my sister has a habit of doing this. Who are these people??

They called me looking for someone who doesn't live at my house. They claimed it was a legal matter. When I asked them who they were, they wouldn't answer me and when I said they had left automated phone messages...they simply hung up. I immediately added my number to the do not call list.
