How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Thanks for the heads up. They used several different phone numbers but I think the person slipped and mentioned they were in Orlando, Fla. The initial call came from 407-000-1717(called back after reading your blogs and it says it is not a working #). I was transferred to 312-422-5568 x 112, name Maria. They are suppose to call back. Chris will be calling. They want credit card numbers. Smells of a "non profit company" scam (They say they are non-profit). I ask where they got my number they said the computer rings the number. I asked their name- Continental Financial Solution (with a web site supposedly that I cannot find), and of course they are just there to help me out of my financial dilemma. 'Sure you're right'. Has anyone reported them to the government scam watch??
I have had this number to show up several times and you can not call it back. Whenever I am not home to answer is when I get the call. I really would like to know who this is and what can they possible want.
I was stupid enough to actually listen to the spiel. In a way I'm glad I did-I plan to report to the BBB and to no call list. They already had account information on the two cards I hold. They knew the balance, as well as the last payment, as well as the number of the mastercard account. Initially they represented themselves as Experian credit bureau, then later provided the company name as Continental Financial Solutions. They actually have a web site that is in some gobbledygook language. Their gig is that for $790 charged to your account they will lower your interest rates by at least half, and provide you with a debt workout program that will allow you to pay off at dramatically increased rate. I changed account numbers on both accounts as they already had them.
Theres gotta be something someone can do about this number calling every one of us, I have seen several complaints about this phone number; and did not know that they were harassing other people, Other than me...I am so tired of this phone number calling; and every time you answer the phone and push 9..when the woman gets on the line..you ask her to take your number off of the do not call list..and they hang up on you every time..This is B--S..Literally.
SCAM..I listened to about the first 20 seconds and hung up. BASTARDS!
I received this call at 1:57 p.m. on 11/6/2008. The Caller ID read "Bell South". The recorded message identified the caller as "Bell South Card Services" and informed me that this was my "last chance to lower my credit card interest". The only option given was for me to press "9" to speak with a representative. Knowing that this was a scam attempting to get my credit card information, I pressed 9. When the representative started to speak, I placed the megaphone end of my trusty "Safety Sport" Air Horn to the receiver and gave the rep a long, loud blast from the horn. The line instantly went dead. I have started using this as my primary weapon against calls of this nature. Funny, but since I have started doing this, I have not received a second call back from any of the many a**holes working these type of scams. Perhaps they are waiting for their ear drums to heal! These air horns are readily available in the Sporting Goods Department of Wal-Mart and other stores. Get one yourself, and help give these con artists some payback!!!
Call came in at 11:17 a.m. Eastern Time Zone.
What little I heard of the message before hanging up was that it was some sort of credit card call. Now I regret hanging up since I know I have had my identity stolen recently.
Why would bellsouth want my creditcard info? I don't have a credit card, I USED to be with AT&T cell phone they are not good people that's why I am not with them now. .I used to live in Orlando and there is a lot of crooks and evil people there, and the cops don't seem to care. It seems that bellsouth would do something about this, unless they are doing it
called about 3:14 p.m. no ID except Florida. Don't answer unidentified callers.
if you ask who they are, they hang up every time.
3rd call received at 2:20pm on 11/4/08 with automated message claiming "this is a call from your credit card company... press 9 if you're interested in lowering your rates"... I pressed 9 in hopes of finding out who was calling (caller ID said Bell South, but this wasn't typical of Bell South). When I asked the agent the name of their company, he hung up on me.
They said some call for lowering credit card payments..I just wanted to tell them NOT to call me and they had some talk about lowering my MasterCard and Visa credit cards..I had NO interest and he was very rude when I told him I wasn't interested..He hung up when I asked him how he got my number..and I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL REGISTRY!!! When I redialed the number..a recording came on and said the call could not be completed..and to contact the operator for assistance. (423638) was the code they said..What has this got to do with BELL SOUTH when all they want to talk about is your credit cards!!! grrrrrrrrr...such a hard way for someone to have to make a living!!!
scum called trying to get my credit card info. hung up when i asked what credit card company they were calling from.
They called, the caller id flashed Bell South, however they stated on the answering machine that my credit card company (no name given) was lowering interest rates so I needed to contact them back to have the interest rate lowered. I'm also on the do not call list....doesn't seem to be catching many numbers lately.
I am urging the florida attorney generals office to press charges. It should be a 10000 fine every time they call!
No message, Good.
Atlanta, GA ... Call received at 12:47 PM ... ID'd number (407-999-9999) legitimate, but caller (Bell South) not ... Number is registered to BellSouth Telecomm, Inc., out of Orlando, FL, as indicated at telcodata.us ... Caller prerecorded; call regarded lowered interest rate on credit card with which I have never done business ... I disconnected call and reported it as a "violation of the do-not-call rules" to the FCC (at esupport.fcc.gov) at 12:48 PM.
these people are sleeze balls.
called this evening but I don't answer calls I don't recognize - hopefully, they'll give up on reaching me soon - I'm on DNC as well but I think these unethical companies think it means -DO NOT CARE if we bother you or follow the law - pigs! (which is an insult to pigs everywhere)
At first a recording, then a real person - as soon as I told him I was on the Do Not Call list and he had no business calling me, he hung up on me.
I just got a call today 10-21-08 from this number @11:22 AM. I didn't answer. I am also on the Do Not Call list.
Bellsouth showed on caller ID. Said they wanted to lower my interest on my credit card. Obvious scam.
Bell South to lower your credit intrest rate SCAM
I received a call from this number at 5:22 pm. Said to push 9 for lower interest rate. I do not have a credit card with them. I am also on the do not call list so don't know why I received the call either.
Simultaneous calls from this number were made to our house number and fax. Recorded message was from "Card Services," and to lower my "interest rate" to press 9. I pressed 9 to find out what the call was about, as I'm on the no-call list. I was connected to a person, sounded very "African American," who said "I understand you want to lower your interest rate." I said "No, I want to know who you are; I am on the no-call list." He made a "pig noise" and said, "Don't you know the no-call list is an urban legend?" Flabbergasted, all I could say was "What?" He said, "You heard me." Then slammed the phone down. PLEASE stop this harassment!! This is clearly a scam to steal identities; BEWARE!!
I got one of these calls today. The caller id said Bellsouth. Since I haven't lived in Florida in over 12 years I assumed it was a bogus number. After reading this site. I now know it is. Oh well, another number to block if they call back.
Received another call from this number at 10:06 AM PDT. As before, it was a recording about lowering my credit card interest rate. And, as before, I could not get through to a human to complain.
Well, now that Canada's Do Not Call Registry has finally kicked into gear, we may finally be able to say goodbye to cretins like these. I registered my numbers on September 30 and the Registry will be in full effect by October 31. We shall see.
Called at 7:30 a.m. telling me I had won a trip. I hung up.
Called me twice today. The first call came at 10 a.m. when I told the girl I was on the Do Not Call Registry, she told me "Shut the F*ck up!" They called again later 4:48 pm. Again I told the girl I'm on the Do Not Call Registry. This time they slam the phone down in my ear. I called the number back to tell them again don't call, I'm on the registry. All I'm getting is a long whistle tone, like a fax going off. I think the goverment should get these people isn't that what the Do Not Call Registry suppose to do?
Filed a complaint on the number with the National Do Not Call Registry.
Received call at 2:13pm with recording to "lower my interest rates" on my current credit cards... blah, blah, blah. Then "press 9 to speak with an operator". I hung up and logged the call here.
Early morning (before 7am) call - speaking spanish? All I know is that it was not English so I hung up immediately.
Just a missed call. No clue who or why they called.
"last chance to lower credit card rate!" automated voice system .. .
Phone call from number above twice, no message left.
A holiday in the Bahamas is offered if I press "9".
Similar to busta.collector's recount. "They give only one keypad option after the recording (in this case #9, speak to representative)" and yes, the initial announcement claimed to lower your credit card interest rate. Hope the Gov't gets wind of this Operation!
Recorded message to here in Canada, and the B***H said I have been pre-selected for a Bahamas vacation, and to press 9 to continue the process. Yeah, as if, you stupid F**K. So, called it back that I could say those words, but just a high pitch squelch, and hung-up. Wow, I changed my mind and wanted that vacation, lol, such is my life! Sux to be me! LOL
This is a SCAM to steal your CREDIT CARD NUMBER AND/OR PERSONAL INFORMATION. This organization does this in one of several ways. From this particular number, they claim: ''this is your final warning'' in a recording to have your Credit Card APR lowered and call themselves ''Card Services.''
They give only one keypad option after the recording (in this case #9, speak to representative). If you ask their company name or company affiliation, they will IMMEDIATELY HANG UP!
They sometimes call with a different pitch about how ''your auto insurance is about to expire and this is your final warning to renew your auto insurance.'' I personally live in NY City and haven't owned a vehicle in decades since there is no need thanks to subway and bus service.
In all cases, the caller ID number is either spoofed, or a recording of a sharp tone, fax tone, or a RECORDING OF an official Verizon: ''the number you have reached is no longer in service'' recording.
BEWARE!!
BEWARE!!
YOU SHOULD ATTEMPT TO GET AS MUCH INFO AS POSSIBLE WITHOUT GIVING THEM ANY REAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF AND IMMEDIATELY REPORT THEM TO THE GOVERNMENT AT THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY COMPLAINT SITE HERE:

Hate these phone spammers with the spoofed IDs... When I pushed the button to speak to representative I said "I could use the help, but too busy to chat right now. Where can I call you back?" (I wanted the number to report) They hung up.
Called while I was gone, no message left. When I tried to CB to see what company it was there was only a loud ring.
Hung up on me when I answered the phone. Didn't even get a chance to yell at them. ;-)
They call from multiple area codes with all 9's. First call I got was from 440-999-9999 and now this one from 407-999-9999. The Caller ID is spoofed for sure. It is the same investment company every time.
Received call at 3:38. This is coming in on my business line!! This could not be more irritating!!!
This is the second call from this number...I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST, does this list really work?
Received call about 9:37. Had phone on vibrate and could not look at it in time as they hung up after second ring.
The phone number looks pretty bogus - all "9", so I assume it is spoofed.
I did not try calling back, but looked up area code - it seems to be Orlando, Florida
